Description

#1 internationally bestselling author Vince Flynn delivers the young, hungry, and lethal Mitch Rapp at the onset of his career as a CIA superagent.
In the year since the CIA trained and then unleashed him, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each swift and untraceable kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians in the Pan Am Lockerbie attack become increasingly aware that someone is hunting them. Rapp is given his next target, and finds the man asleep in his bed in Paris. In the split second it takes the bullet to leave Rapp’s silenced pistol, the trap is sprung and he finds himself in the fight of his life.
The next morning, nine bodies are discovered in one of Paris’s finest hotels—among them the Libyan oil minister. Back in Washington the finger-pointing begins in earnest as no one wants any part in what has become an international crisis and potential embarrassment for the CIA. Rapp’s handlers have only one choice—deny any responsibility for the incident and pray that their newest secret weapon stays that way.
Rapp must avoid capture or die quietly. One person in the group, however, is not prone to leaving such important things to chance. Rapp has become a liability, and Stan Hurley will not allow Rapp to be taken alive by the French authorities, even if it means killing him. Operating on his own and outside the control of his handlers, it will soon become clear that nothing is more dangerous than a wounded and cornered Mitch Rapp.
In Flynn’s newest page-turner, the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been as Mitch Rapp embarks on the journey that will turn him into America’s most deadly asset. The nonstop action in this shockingly realistic political thriller will keep your pulse pounding till the very end.

Good story, but . . .

Nothing about secondary characters. What happened to them?

Kill Shot

Fantastic plot for a spy thriller, and the character development is good. But I’m hoping the writing style matures in the later books.

I’m hooked

Thoughts of bouncing around the series after book 1 but went for the progression. After this one, I’m down for the entire series. What an incredible writer and story teller. RIP Vince.

Another great one in the long line by Vince Flynn

The way with which the Mitch Rapp series flows has me completely and I no doubt will be completing the series. This is just great writing, plain and simple...highly entertaining throughout.

Vince Flynn is the best

Truthfully, I just keep reading his Mitch Rapp books over and over. There's an integrity that aligns with my concept of justice, which keeps me glued to the pages. I must say, the actual world needs more Stansfield, Kennedy, Hurley and Rapp!

Kill Shot

This is my second Mitch Rapp story. After American Assassin (which I thought was really slow) I was kept busy and interested for the entire read.
I'm looking forward to more of this Author's Mitch Rapp stories.

Needs more punch

Average at best in the international intrigue / spy thriller genre. Character development lacks originality. Plot is hum-drum and predictable. This is the first Vince Flynn book I have read and maybe the last.

Perfunctory

Flynn can be a good writer, but not in this effort. This book felt rushed and superficial. Little or no character development. Things fall into place too neatly. I would not recommend.

Kill Shot - good but somewhat predictable

This is my first book by this author. It was a good read, but somewhat predictable. My favorite authors are Stephen King and Tom Clancy, both of whom do much better jobs of character development and putting in unexpected twists into the story lines. This was entertaining, but I'm not likely to rush to read another book by Flynn.

Great Book - No thought to the Ending

The book was great but the end was not thought out at all. But maybe I should say well thought out if the goal is to buy the next book. Book held you all the way to the end if you can call it an end. More like the the middle!

I have read all of Vince Flynn's books and each one is even more of a page turner than the last! He keeps you on the edge of your seat with every chapter!

Why the bad reviews?

People need to realize that Vince was undergoing a lot of serious medical issues with cancer during his time of writing this book. That will seriously drain ones thinking capacity when creativity is needed most. Plus the time he had to balance with his family. His series is amazing. Who cares if this one a little of his normal path. It's an outstanding book regardless. And they had better do the movie right. I fear they will butcher Rapp and make him look like Bond. Rapp doesn't do monkey suits.

Kill Shot

This was the worst of the Mitch Rapp novels. I can not believe Vince Flynn would write such a filthy language book. Story was good but language destroyed it. I wonder if he would let his kids read it? I hope not. Hopefully next one is cleaner.

Love the story not the foul language

I love the characters, story line and Mitch Rapp came to life, you could almost see him in person. Bought and read all of them, but why the "f" words have to fly so often is just beyond me. I do live in the real world, I know the words are used by many and have 3 nephews in special forces and know they testosterone it up an the word flies, but really......having to see it in print a jillion times???
I read multiple authors of series writing and guess I may have to stick to those. We shall see.

First book I've read front-to-back in 48 hours or less, in a long, long time. Nice job, Mr. Flynn!

Interesting but choppy. At times the narrative just marks time, wandering lazily. Much different than Flynn's previous works. Still, a good read, if not a compelling one.

Amazing

Great book! Enjoyed having Stansfield back, its great to see how he works, and also to get some more back story on Hurley. I was very excited when I came across rafique aziz, but I was really looking forward to reading about how he gave rapp the scar on his face. Probably my only dissapointment. Can't wait for the next book to be written.

Par for the course

As usual Mr. Flynn does a great job of keeping the reader wanting more. When the pilot anounces the final desent and the electronics are to be turned off, I curse myself for not buying the hard copy.
Flynn has a style all his own that keeps the reader turning page after page until the climactic but inevitably ungratifying ending. The next book in the series is eagerly awaited and will undoubtedly contain just as many intricate connections, detailed research, and pulse elevating tension.
As always, well done.

Plot - way more fun than your every day humdrum asassain book.
Characters - does good job on character detail so that theymatter to reader.

Disappointed!

I truly loved all of Vince's books. This was a 'kill shot' for me. After several chapters, I asked myself, "why is Flynn wasting space...". Amazing drop off the cliff when the book ended and we went in the BS advertising! Agree with others, good bye Mitch and Vince. Major bummer.

Another great book by Flynn

Have been waiting for the next book to come out for some time. Was not expecting to have it be a continuation of the start of Mitch's career but glad it was. Couldn't put the book down.

Another Piece of Magic!

Again Vince Flynn works wonders with words and grabs the reader's attention for high-flyin', macho-filled action with a gratifying pro-American tilt that makes me want to wear the ol' Red, White and Blue as I read it.
The manner in which Flynn allows us better access into the characters' thoughts while not giving away too much of Rapp is both tantalizing and frustrating — just as it should be. Better examinations of Victor, Kennedy, and Stansfield are much appreciated and intriguing while the added characters bring smiles and disgust to the reader's lips.
The only complaint is that, within chapter divisions there can be some very minor time-line confusion.

Kill Shot is Great!!!

This was a one day read, what vacation days are for.
Mitch is heroic even in the beginning of his career.
The detail and understanding of Vince Flynn is wonderful.
This entertainment is worth the price and the months of waiting.
Congratulations Mr. Flynn

Running start

The Pre-rating is to get a running start, momentum, so when the rating slam dunk occurs it will be that much more spectacular. A flat footed slam dunk is not nearly as much fun as one that starts out at the top of the key. Marketing thriller books is like marketing the slam dunk contest ... ya gots ta have a runnin' start!
