Description

Discover the origins of Durzo Blint in this original novella set in the world of Brent Weeks' New York Times bestselling Night Angel trilogy.
"I got a bit of prophecy," the old assassin said. "Not enough to be useful, you know. Just glimpses. My wife dead, things like that to keep me up late at night. I had this vision that I was going to be killed by forty men, all at once. But now that you're here, I see they're all you. Durzo Blint."
Durzo Blint? Gaelan had never even heard the name.
***
Gaelan Starfire is a farmer, happy to be a husband and a father; a careful, quiet, simple man. He's also an immortal, peerless in the arts of war. Over the centuries, he's worn many faces to hide his gift, but he is a man ill-fit for obscurity, and all too often he's become a hero, his very names passing into legend: Acaelus Thorne, Yric the Black, Hrothan Steelbender, Tal Drakkan, Rebus Nimble.
But when Gaelan must take a job hunting down the world's finest assassins for the beautiful courtesan-and-crimelord Gwinvere Kirena, what he finds may destroy everything he's ever believed in.

A small intro

This book, although good was too short for me. I wish Brent made more of a story to tell. It just fell too short for me, good day read though.

Simple amazment

Just as in the night angel trilogy, Brent Weeks has done a brilliant job. He gave us a story to a wonderful character who was all mystery throughout the trilogy, but never once is that mystery broken. This has to be one of the greatest prequels i have read, and would willingly recommend it to anyone, even if you have not read the night angel trilogy!

Great book

One of the best ever. Gritty, dirty and full of perverts, so if you squeamish, pass it up.

Thank you Mr. Weeks!

Although this is technically a prequel to his Night Angel Trilogy, I would recommend reading those first to get to the characters a little better. For anyone who has read NAT, then I highly recommend getting this ebook! The style is a little different from NAT, mainly because it changes from first person to third person. That said, Perfect Shadow is not made confusing by the change in view point. An excellent installment for Night Angel fans, and if you haven't read those yet, pick them up! You will not be disappointed! Honestly my only complaint is that it is only available as an ebook at this time... <3 Night Angel Forever!!'

Loved it

I've loved every book that Brent Weeks has put out in the short time he's been publishing books. This book keeps the trend going! I loved it "cover" to "cover"

It felt too much like an afterthought...

The Night Angel Trilogy was one of the most enjoyable fantasy trilogies I have read to date. It checked all the boxes in a way that so many of the current fantasy novels can't or won't.
But this 'prequel' feels like the Star Wars Episode I of the Night Angel Trilogy. It was completely unnecessary. It didn't add anything to original story. As a matter of fact it takes some of the mystique away.
At least it is a short story and Brent Weeks' conversational style of writing makes it an easy read. So overall, although it was a disappointment, it was still okay. I just expected so much more.

A little history, a little mystery

I really enjoyed this story. It gives a good background to the Night Angel trilogy while leaving enough untold for a great prequel series within that framework.

Durzo begins!

A wonderful precursor to the brilliant Night Angel trilogy. A nice insight into Durzo's past lives and his auspicious beginnings with Momma K. A marvelous read.

Satisfying

Ever since I read The Night Angel Trilogy I've been begging for this book. Thank you for it. Naturally you can't answer all the mysteries of, most recently, Durzo Blint, but what of the Staff of Law, Iures? I did he obtain it? I could go on forever but this novella was a pleasure to read about his transformation from hero to wetboy.

It's great

The writing isn't nearly as good as the trilogy but the story is great and answers questions that you had about the trilogy. The author may say you dont need to read the trilogy but yeah. You really do. Or at least read it after.
