A deep thought provoking book, which challenges a new generation of readers to discover their meaning, and our life.

Captivating!

H.G. Wells was ahead of his time when he wrote this classic. In every chapter, he invites the reader to use his/her imagination and to visualize the facial expressions and tone of voice that the Time Traveler used when telling his story. In my childhood, my only familiarity of this classic was the film adaptation of George Pal. Reading this book was like watching a special edition of the film.

Still fresh after 129 years.

This is a brilliant inception of an actual time capsule within a well scribed book.

An amazing book

A lot times when I read a book I break it into pieces. Like I say I'll read 20 pages a day or 3 chapters a day, but with this book I didn't do that I read the entire book in one whole day. This book is one of the best books I have ever read and it truly is a classic. I highly recommend it to science fiction lovers like me.

Loved it

Well, it was an awesome read at 4:30 in the morning, and I was actually hoping to fall asleep to it, but after three pages I was pretty much hooked. I'm pretty sure anybody who reads this will love it. It was pretty freaking awesome. I'm kinda sad it ended already :(

Wonderment Never Dies

I first read this book at the age of seven. At that time, this book fueled my boyish imagination and instilled in me the spirit of exploration and an undying hunger for knowledge and excitement. It gave me the courage and motivation to try many new things and to challenge myself in all that I do. I am seventeen now. This is my fourth time reading this book. And I feel like I'm seven again.

Sci-fi Treasury

This is a really good science fiction book. H. G. Wells conveys details in amazing clarity and I look forward to reading his other novels! This is my first H.G. Wells novel.

The 4th dimension

The beginning was quite perplexing I admit, however, as the story progressed so did my interest in this work. The idea of time as a dimension was what really drew my interest. Physics buffs will love this book, that isn't to say it's a purely scientific work, philosophical questions arise as well: morality, ethics, and virtue. I enjoyed the book immensely it juxtaposed subjects of interest into a short novella without jeopardizing the work itself. To the 4th dimension, I salute it's wonders and perplexities.

The Time machine

This book is a never ending struggle for the main character the time traveler. He has traveled back in time and almost got eaten by morlocks and went to the future and met these huge crab like things that all want to eat him. It is a real page turner and a would recommend it to anyone

Amazing

I found this book to be very interesting.
This book was assigned to me as a summer reading. I do not like to read, but I really got sucked in, by the story. I may say that H.G. Wells is and amazing writer, and that this book is really entertaining.

A must read for all.

Get lost in a simpler time's future. This will have your imagination running wild. A literary work of art that should be read by everyone. I must say the digital probably looses a little of the magic from the loss of page-turning suspense, the weight of a book in hand, and the old musty smell of a leather blood.

Wonderful tales

I've just finished reading The Invisible Man, War of the Worlds and now The Time Machine. Loved them all! Fascinating studies of science at the turn of the last century. And great looks into the Victorian lifestyle and psyche. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys reading classics.

Great book, I wish there was more! I specifically liked the beginning where they talked about the theories, but it was great all around.

Required Read

This book is definitely not the best science fiction tale. It is, however, an exceptional tale about a time traveller that was written in 1898! It's amazing to read about H.G. Wells' view of 6,000 years into the future. He wrote it over 100 years ago yet his guess as to the state of the earth is as good as anyone could write today.
Go read this book to read, if nothing else, why time machines are a household term today.

A great read, even 100 years later.

I'm only 13 years old, and this story blew my mind. It's amazing a man that lived in the 1890's could make up a story like this. Or did or did he?...

Wow great book!!

I was so happy with this book, and it was free! Definitely get this book. It broadened my word vocabulary and was not one of those boring books usually made from long ago. This book is not hard to read at all, especially with the dictionary built in when you hold down on the word! It doesn't get much easier than apple, I must say. I never read, and I had to read this book for high school, so if i can read it, anyone can! Recommend it to EVERYONE! Come on now! It is FREE! Give it a shot! Haha :)
***SPOILER ALERT!***
I was not expecting the Time Traveller to disappear! I was hoping there would be a sequel including the next adventure and descriptions of pictures! I do enjoy though how Wells leaves it to your imagination to come up with what happened to him.

True Insight

This is such an incredible piece of history. It comes from a time when the writer is not so concerned with the technology and special effects that science offers. Instead, he explores what could happen in the heart, in the development of the personality of humanity.
We see here the forebears of so much that was written and created in other media over the next century. But much classier.

Classic intro to time travel

Short book and a great read. From wikipedia: The book's protagonist is an English scientist and gentleman inventor living in Richmond, Surrey, identified by a narrator simply as the Time Traveller. The narrator recounts the Traveller's lecture to his weekly dinner guests that time is simply a fourth dimension, and his demonstration of a tabletop model machine for travelling through it. He reveals that he has built a machine capable of carrying a person, and returns at dinner the following week to recount a remarkable tale, becoming the new narrator:
