Shell-shocked after losing a foot during his tour in Afghanistan, Captain Tom Forsyth returns to his estranged mother's house. His mother has always put horses first and family last. But now she's being blackmailed for a hefty sum every week and being forced to make her horses lose. Using the skills he honed in the military, Tom sets out to find and defeat a hidden enemy before his mother's reputation is ruined, and he ends up back in the crossfire.

Crossfire
Fantastic story with a very up-to-date scenario! Another hit-the latest in a long line that for me stretches back to my discovery of "Nerve" when I was 11 years old . . . Thanks for 44 years of imaginative stories that swept me up each time to new and engrossing realities!! Dick Francis's books have expanded my knowledge

Crossfire delivers
I really enjoy Dick (& Felix) Francis books. This one meets expectations and actually becomes a rather good page turner early on in the book. The usual twists keep it interesting to the end.

Crossfire works!
Francis is at his best in his final book. All the thrill and mystery, plus great research, as is his custom. I can only hope that his son carries on the family business!
