This book was good and I also saw the movie. The movie wasn’t as good as the book since it was in more detail, but this read isn’t the same read as twilight.

It’s a sci-fi type of book. If you are into clones and stuff like that then this book is for you, other than that it is really creative and the plot has its twists and turns etc. I give this book 4 stars.

Wonderful story. I just wish she would have given us more about Jared and Mel's reunion. I waited so long for that. And in the end I felt disappointed to not be able to enjoy that part of the story. Their story was just as important as Ian's and Wanda's!

I have read all books published by Stephanie Myers, and this by far has been my favorite! I couldn't put it down. The story line was amazing, and loved how it made you wonder what cations you would take or how you would feel. Characters are so well done that by the time you finish the book they feel real. When you end on that last page it is depressing and devastating because you just don't want it to end. After reading this book you will be like, "What other books by Myers?" Wish there were more books to follow!

I have read this book multiple times. I have recommended it to countless people and they all loved this book including my teenage cousin and my grand mother my own mother even loves this book.

This is one that you don't want to put down until it done but you don't want it to be done!

I am normally not into science fiction books, but this book was amazing. It kept me on my toes and made me want to keep going. It was a well written book and really made you think about how some decisions affect others. It also makes you think about what is right and wrong, and are you following the crowd or creating your own destiny. Such a touching book and I cannot wait to read more of her work as it comes out!

I really got into this amazing love story I was just dying to find out who ended up where. All I could say is it's a great read.

I never read any of the Twilight novels, so this was my first exposure to Stephanie Meyer. I didn't much care for her writing style, and I felt the whole concept of the book was a bit contrived. It's like a teen romance version of "The Puppet Masters," only without any real paranoia, adventure, excitement, or interesting characters. This wasn't a bad book, but it was far from a good one. If you liked Twilight, I'm guessing you'll like this. But if you're a sci-fi fan, there are better books available to read.

There is 828 pages in the paper back from barns and noble and I give it a👍

What happened to the last 4 chapters? Did the author get tired of writing? Really a bad way to end a good book, shame on you.

The host is one of the most amazing books I have ever read. Stephanie Meyer captured si-fi and mixed it into a romantic story. Melanie who is one of the last survivors of the human population is soon captured by souls, or alien forms that take over human bodies. She had a younger brother Jamie, and a boy she deeply loved, Jared Howe. A soul by the name of Wanderer is put inside of Melanie, but however, Melanie is still alive inside. Wanderer/Melanie eventually find their way back to Jared and Jamie through the deserts of Arizona. Melanie's uncle, Jeb, is the only one to accept her at first and gives wanderer the name of Wanda. Eventually, Wanda falls in love with a human Ian who loves her back. Wanda knows how to take souls out of human bodies now and wants to give Melanie her life back. In the end, Wanda and Melanie both get their own bodies and live with their loved ones. I cannot tell you how great this book is. At first i knew i wouldn't like it because its you know, science fiction, but i could not stop crying buckets and buckets of tears after. The love story behind this book is so heartwarming yet tragic in a way. I absolutely fell in love with the characters. Thank you Stephanie Meyer for writing this masterpiece.

Ok I didn't get it on my i pod but have it as an actual book 350 pgs in and love it so far do not believe that her writing style stinks I am a guy and I like it so that has to mean something

I decided to read this before I watched the movie. I absolutely loved it! I couldn't put this book down. I loved the detailed plot and characters.

I'll admit, the first few chapters are a little confusing and hard to follow, but after you get past the introduction of what's happening, the story really takes off. I watched the movie first, and was still staying up late to read what happened next! It is a story full of complex feelings, and many emotions that really keep you interested. The characters are so realistic, even though it is a science fiction novel, and easy to imagine it happening in the real world. I loved the side romance in the story too. I loved twilight, but having a romance as a second focus was refreshing. It is one of my favorite books, and I think it is definitely worth the ,money!

I am a Twilight fan and I loved the twilight books, but for those of you who didn't this isn't anything like it. It was filled with action, surprises, intensity and ROMANCE! The only thing I didn't like was ~kind of spoiler~ they called Wanderer "Wanda". I don't particularly like that name. But that's just me. Love this book

I am a huge alien fanatic, and I gotta say that this book really made my love of aliens grow stronger. Alien and romance fans will love it

One BIG thing I gotta say is... After 20ish pages I was BORED!!

The reason I bought this book was because I wanted to see the movie but I really hate to see a movie before reading the book if I think it might be good . I was disappointed, the idea was so interesting yet everything seemed... Mishandled. There seemed like there were many opportunities to make it exciting and worth reading.

I got sick of most of the characters and would unintentionally skip over pages often.

Okay, long story short. If you're looking for a thrill ride you will not find one here.

I'd heard from several friends and family members that this was a good book. However, I never imagined that it would be as fabulous as it was. I didn't want to stop reading it. All of the characters had so much depth and were very relatable. The way the reader is made to feel angry and betrayed by the aliens in the beginning and then feel sorry for them and relate to them was wonderful. I felt so conflicted because my feelings for Wanda were so strong and I wanted her to live, but I also wanted Melanie to get her body and life back. This book was so emotional for me. I felt sadness, happiness, anger, guilt, frustration and love. In so happy the story ended the way it did. I couldn't have imagined a better ending to the story.

The Host is a phenomenal novel about the romance between the human Melanie's true love and the soul Wanderer's true love. While trying to figure out this love triangle she is distracted by letting everyone believe Melanie is still alive in their body. The intertwining action and romance make the book come alive and it makes the reader feel as if the characters are real. Personally this is my ultimate favorite book ever. This book is totally worth more than 5 stars. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!!! This book is really worth the $5.00👍😊❤

I enjoyed reading this book. I liked how there was romance and passion but not graphic and disturbing. It was a fun quick read for all ages. Nice job.

i've got to admit the first couple of chapters are slow but after the plot starts moving it really takes off. one of my favorite books. I highly recommend reading it twice... or even more... there is always something new that sticks out with each reread that ties the story together

The host was a Surprisingly good book! Stephanie Meyer is just a one of a kind author that can make amazing books for teenagers and adults. The host is really amazing and of you don't like to read you will love to read this book. This book is like amazing. You can't predict what will happen that is what makes a good book!

The depth and clarity in which Stephenie Meyer explains everything as well as the unique and unusual plot makes this a must read. Unlike any book I have read and absolutely amazing. If you have any doubts, just read it! Will make you laugh, stress, and cry. Hope she writes a follow up!

What I enjoyed with The Host was how the author explored all the avenues of pain, friendship and honor between Wanderer and Melanie, and how their relationship grew from hatred, through mistrust, unwilling cooperation, collusion to respect and love. Like Melanie, I am not always admirable in my behavior and thoughts, so I appreciate an author who can expand my views beyond my often egocentric focus. While it is difficult for me to imagine ever "wanting" an alien to stay in my body, we humans have already developed symbiotic relationships with living organisms (bacteria, parasites) that we unthinkingly accept and benefit by-who can say where these relationships may evolve to?

I read this book two years ago and I completely fell in love with it ❤I had to read the first chapter twice because I was a bit confused but the book is simply out of this world. When I found out there was going to be a movie I had to buy the book and re-read it:) The movie was really good, I loved it. The only thing I wish the director should've done was make The Host into 2 parts. The book is long enough and many events happen that doesn't show in the movie. I recommend this book to anyone who's into Sci-Fi. Trust me, you won't regret it. Some people judge the book too fast and don't even finish reading it and they give a bad review. Trust me, with every chapter it gets better and better. When the book ended I seriously wanted to cry. Gosh how I wish she could make sequels to this book. Okay I'm done ranting but seriously try this out 💕

Wow, so much better than twilight and great for everyone

There WERE some lulls, and some chapters seemed to drag on forever, just for the sake of being descriptive, I guess. But overall, I loved the storyline, and thought the ending was well-done.

Twilight was a horrid excuse for literature. Twilight is the worst book ever written in human history! On the other hand, The Host is the work of a pure Genius!

This is the most well-written, amazing, best book ever written. Who needs the Hunger Games? I'm seriously mad at myself that I finished it, because now I can't read it again. I have the hardcover for this book and read it weeks after finishing Twilight series and I absolutely fell in love with it... So much that I read it three times already!!

I really enjoyed this book. I've never read any of the twilight books and I'm glad so I had nothing to compare it to. I just thought it was a great easy read with an enjoyable plot.

I love this book and I think Stephanie did a great job writing it! It is completely different from twilight, with more real characters, better plot line, and a good balance between romance and action.

I don't think it was a smart idea to make it into a movie. Though the book was great, Stephanie's book's don't translate well on screen. I think it was as good as they could get it but It just did not work for me. Not the same effect as the book.

Hated it. Didnt make sense to me at all and ive read it twice.

I had a difficult time getting connected in the story, but decided to give it some play. By the time I got to chapter five I was hooked. It was an interesting story, and I enjoyed it a lot. It will be difficult to put well into film, but when it is released next year you can bet I will want to see it.

Great book. A little low at times but overall a great read.

Honestly, it's a step above Twilight. But of course, that's not saying too much. It's a relatively compelling story, but that's over shadowed by her inability to write coherent sentences.

They say that when someone writes a book, you can often tell more about them than the actual characters. That is so true in Meyer's case. Her married life must be so horrible as to fantasize about abusive vampires and alien love. Just saying. Romances can be executed so they don't look like, as I said, ridiculous fantasies.

So, dear Ms Meyer, learn to write before attempting another novel. The literary universe will much appreciate it.

"The Host" was a fun read. It was a very original premise, and it works. The internal conflict between Melanie and Wanderer was an interesting look at human nature. They reacted differently to various challenges and that created very interesting characterization of the two characters in one body.

Took a while to get into the story but once it got going I really enjoyed it. Clever & interesting concepts. Ms. Meyers has come up with new ideas & blended them with old nightmares using some cool twists & turns.

I liked it.

Over all, I liked the Host, bcuz it's different then the whole VAMPIRE theme. I mean Twilight will ALWAYS be my fav bk by stephenie myers,but its kinda nice 2 c SM writing something different 4 once.

The storyline is good, not great. The characters are enjoyable. The book overall is a slow read and could of used more action to keep the story flowing. Lot of good morals to learn from the read.

I absolutely love this book! I would recommend it to anyone who loves Stephanie Meyer. I have read The Host more times than I've read any book in the Twilight Saga....and I love the Twilight Saga to death! Super book, everybody should try to get through it. :)

I would have just stopped at the twilight series...

I'm a huge fan of S.Myers. She captured my attention with the Twilight series & apparently she's good at writing about things other than Vampires. I give this book 5 stars!! A great read.

This is way better than twilight. Don't get me wrong...I love twilight, but this book is ten times better!! You've got to read it! It does start off slow, but once you get into it, it's really, really awesome!!!

I literally just finished reading this book 15 minutes ago, and it brought me to tears. This book took me a week to read, but i absolutely loved it. It was the best book Ive ever read, it is filled with SO many suprises.

I am 13 and i recommend it to 8th grade and above, this book is highly addicting. I loved it, so much. Also, its an adult best seller, and you have to understand the concept to the story!!

And NO, this book has nothing to do with vampires it is comletely original. Stephanie Meyer, this book made me laugh, my heart beat so fast, my heart being broken, it made me smile, and cry. This is your best book.

What a great book! I enjoyed reading such a creative story... But don't expect Twilight!!! Same author different book!!

The Host shows how great Stephanie Meyer is at writing. The Host is completely different from the Twilight Saga. One thing that they both share though, are the great characters that really surprise you. You would never think that you could fall in love with a soul, that's inside of a human, but you do. So buy it or just get the sample. You will want to finish it though! :)

Book Was Good But : The Twilight Saga: Was & Always Will Be The Greatest

This is a great science-fiction. This is different from twilight saga. It is even better. The imagination in this book is terrific and wonderful. The book is not for the diehard twilight fans. It's not about romance. It's about thoughts deep inside a girl's mind. It would be a great movie if some producers try to make it into a film.

This was absolutely one of thee greatest books!!!! It has adventure, romance, science and more. Please give the book a chance and bear through the background information. but, once i gave this book a chance, I found myself unable to put it down. if you can overlook meyer's godawful writing style, the story will keep you hooked from cover to cover. i definitely recommend reading this book at least once through, as it's worth it.

I absolutely fell in love with the this book and it's characters!! It's a great science fiction book that i thought would also be a great movie to watch...it was interesting and i had a hard time putting it down! A new favorite of mine!

I read the book and loved it. It is good science fiction. Not the regular vampire teen-story.

I tried reading this book after finishing he twilight saga, but i just couldn't get through it! I read about 150 pages and found that Stephanie Meyer just wasn't living up to my expectations. With such a thrilling twilight saga, how could she fail so miserably with this one?
