Great book

I guess I expected more than I actually got. There were so many plot lines I felt as though I were reading excerpts from a TV series rather than a single narrative. Would have been better to pick one, maybe two, of the plotlines and pursued it with intent and clarity. As is, it's disjunct and unable to determine the story it's trying to tell, and nearly every storyline ended up being underwhelming or predictable. The main one was barely passable for an episode of Law & Order, and I love Law & Order.

And two-paragraph chapters? Were the authors compensated on the total number of chapters they wrote? Six sentences and I'm already on the next one? That's poor TV writing, frankly.

A really good read!

This serial book isn't as intriguing as the other Private books. It's missing the the part that engrossed a reader to want to read and read!

It was like getting a adrenaline, curiosity, suspense, action, intensity, it is an awesome book, loved it.

I think this book is really good it has a good story line and it keeps it interesting and makes you wonder what's next.

Stock one-dimensional criminal characters with the usual ensemble soap-opera plots of haunted police by their personal life demons, only there is no heat or oomph whatsoever.

As usual Mr Patterson has you hanging on to the edge of your seat by your fingertips.

This is the first of the Private stories thatI have read and I look forward to reading the rest of them.

Quickly paced. You knew what was going on in all aspects of the interwoven plot lines. Enjoyed very much. Will definitely read more from Mr. Patterson.

I had heard about James Patterson's cash cow, the cheesey-novel-creator or machine-like system he has for generating the drivel he cranks out. So when Apple offered this book for free I had to check it out to see for myself. The "prose" with which he and/or his surrogate writer filled each and every paragraph would be ludicrous even had it been written by a thirteen year old. I would have felt guilty for the day and a half I wasted on it had I not had fun chuckling through its awfulness.

Just cannot put these books down...never disappointed🇺🇸

A good read! Keeps moving through every chapter. My complaints? Too many characters with too little explanation or connection to the major story line. An e-book during the baseball games....so I enjoyed it 😊

Wonderful book. Not sure I'd enjoy it since it was co-authored, but found it hard to put down.

What a great story! Well written. I was amazed at how fast I got through it. Had to look up a few words in the dictionary but that only added to my enjoyment. I liked that the Chapters were short, sweet, and to the point. A fast moving story filled with so many familiar places (having lived in Los Angeles for 35 years) and so many familiar names (movie stars and celebrities) I highly recommend this story to one and all. I will be buying and reading more books by Mr James Patterson and his partners.

Good mystery w/a few surprising twists. Writing in both first person for Jack & third person for POV of other characters is an interesting style. I liked it better than some of the "Cross" novels and will likely read more in this series.

I've not read a novel in years. Dowloaded this as a freebie on my iPad months ago but never started it. Just found time on a vacation to take it on and finished it in 2 days. Nice easy read for those that don't read often.... Great characters and action.

Quick read but all over the place. Some stories were not relevant and were distractions.

This is my first James Patterson book! I love how well he manages to shift seamlessly between the detective cases his firm is taking on. I originally downloaded this book to my iPhone just to have something to read in a waiting room, but later found that it was such a compelling read I had to finish it right away!

Now I am hoping there is a sequel .

This book could have been a lot better, but they had to pack in an assortment of side plots in order to fill the pages.

Good book. Easy to read and engaging. Fairly predictable, but still fun. A good summer read. Readers don't have to invest much thought or emotion in this one; just sit back and enjoy the ride. There's more than a little bit of chauvinism here. It made me frown in annoyance, but I let it pass. I wondered if it's part of the authors personality coming through. Who knows?! Who cares?! It's a fun, slick book. Grab it, grab a towel and head for the beach!

A quick read, but I could never sympathize with any of the characters, probably because their personalities were so shallowly portrayed. Several cases being solved simultaneously meant there wasn't enough print devoted to any of them to really develop any tension or drama. The dialogue was as simple as a high school sophomore's first attempt at writing dialogue in a creative writing class.

Fast moving page turner with multiple story lines and mysteries. Good stuff.

This book is well written and enjoyable. The story line flows well and keeps the readers interest. While not a leap from the pages action thriller it does have moments of action and just enough intrigue to make you wonder what's next.

I look forward to reading more books by this author and seeing what is next in this series.

This was an excellent read. Our hero, Jack has an evil twin in the story. Jack has to solve a problem with the mob trying to take over pro football, a club of young men killing teenage girls, and find the killer of a friends wife. Very well done, James! This a truly great read. Please don't miss it !!!

While not new to Mr. Patterson's various works, this novel exposed me to a new character/story line of Jack Morgan & Private. I basically did not sleep until I finished this book. I am again enamored by the novelist's work but feel his collaboration with the co-author is what brought the "newness" of excitement to this novel. This will not be the last of this genre for me as I'm now addicted (again) to the authors and impatient to read more of their works. Their combined styles takes the reader far from the everyday into a twisting suspense until the last page. Bravo!!!

That's all I have to say. Great read. Look forward to purchasing the following.

Great read. Couldn't put it down!!

I'm an average guy and an average reader. Found this book very enjoyable on breaks at work and short down times. It didn't get too deep into the characters but that what made it easily read in short spurts. The short 2-3 page chapters also kept me wanting to squeeze in just one more chapter.

I found the story line to be very intriguing, though perhaps a bit predictable. The novel did however pull me in. I felt details were a bit weak, but that allowed my imagination to fill any blanks. I will likely give James Patterson another read someday soon.

Patterson writes from a place where characters are real, complex, flawed, deep, and truly manage to "jump off the page." As usual, I couldn't put "Private" down. Love the twists and turns!

My first Patterson 'read' and I liked the intricacies and subtleties he describes in each character. Kinda hard at first to go back and forth from first-person but got used to it. I plan on reading the next in the series when it comes out and will look for another of his to see if I truly like his style or not. I'd recommend it.
