Description

It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.
I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.
Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.
See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.
Until it was too late.
The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!
Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.
They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.
The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well… helping other people to be hard.
Oh, man…
And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.
By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.
My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?
Having all my dreams come true.

"When I need an insightful, amusing, beautifully written book, I pick up a Julia Kent novel. So, it was this mindset that I read Fluffy, a book about an accidental fluffer. Yes, that kind of fluffer. I usually laugh often while reading Julia's work, but this time, I LOL'd and ROTFLMAO'd with every dang page. Fluffy is the light and sweet side of Julia Kent, a perfect fluffernutter of romantic comedy: Very sweet, a little salty, and definitely delicious." - USA Today bestselling author Blair Babylon

"I absolutely love Julia's unique wit and ability to turn a disastrous situation into something so comical it will have the reader laughing long and loud, whilst those around them are giving questioning side glances and looks of pure confusion that say "is she alright?".  I know this because those were the reactions of my husband and children while I was reading this book." - Don't Judge a Book blog

It took me 4 attempts to finish this book. I kept having to put it down, read something else, and come back to it. Now that I have finished it, I’m struggling to remember it only a few weeks later. Not bad, just not great. Entertaining-ish.

I wanted to like this but I just couldn’t get past Mallary’s insecurities over her high school crush on Will. Like let it go girl. It was so infuriating and immature. She would get mad when he was doing what she wanted. UGH I can’t explain it right. I couldn’t wait for the book to end. Parts were funny but mostly it was teenager angst from a woman almost 30.

Mallory & Will meet years ago in High School & let their chemistry go! At their 10 year reunion they meet again on a porn set as she’s trying to get a job that she doesn’t know anything about! Will the second time around be sweeter then the first?
I would definitely recommend this book as it is funny & has interesting people in it!

The beginning is hysterically funny. Good storyline, entertaining characters. Drags a little toward the middle but redeems itself by the end.

It took a bit to get into the story of the book but once I did, I didn’t want to put it down! Crazy, sexy, and romantic all at the same time.

Awfully boring. Mallory is annoying and has random thoughts throughout the book. They added nothing to the story and felt like the author was just trying to fill the page. It took me forever to finish this book because I couldn’t get into it. The characters were underdeveloped and there interactions with each other had no substance.

No...just no

I couldn’t even finish this book. Tried wayyyy too hard to be funny and the character was unrealistically naive. I know books are fictional but this was a bit much. Can I have my 99¢ back?

Flawed, but enjoyable read

The setup is cute, naive Mallory answers an ad in Craigslist for a “fluffer.” She thinks it is for a person who stages houses for sale (it was a term used in that industry), but of course, it is for a job on the set of a porn movie. When the Will, the son of the owner of the house shows up with the police, Mallory is just starting to realize they don’t want her for decorating skills. Of course, Will was her crush from High School, and not only does he convince the police not to arrest her, he hires her at the family real-estate business. The book was pretty funny, but there were times that Mallory’s friends’ witty banter was more snarky than funny. Also, while Will was the perfect book boyfriend, Mallory was a little harder to warm up to. Mallory was not only naive, she seemed to be stuck at the emotional level of a fourteen year old. Overall, a flawed, but enjoyable read.

I stayed up all night ON MOTHERS DAY to finish and then finish FLUFFY! Julia Kent has easily become one of my favorite authors. I get so excited when I find any free books of hers but after reading the free novella introducing Will and Mallory I HAD to read their full novel.
Great character development. And while Mallory was stuck in the past, Will was able to help her see that and grow.
Ok I don’t want to give anything away. Great book. Great writing. Great characters.

Julia Kent has done it again! Another enticing set of characters, a major mix-up of word meanings, a chance encounter with a high school crush, and slapstick mishaps combine to keep you giggling, laughing out loud, or snort-laughing (yes, I did all three) throughout this fantastic Rom-Com. A must read.

Mallory’s tale just makes me happy. Yes, she goes through some daunting trials but she hits the jackpot. For a character driven story this one just flies, we are drawn into Mal and Will’s world and it just envelopes you. The comedy is slapstick but believable. I like that we’re also building a cast of characters we can follow in the future. I truly identify with Mal’s high school experience, but we are stronger than we know and we learn more than just book knowledge in that boiler room of hormones, testosterone, and self importance. Love, love, loved this wonderful story.

It’s no secret that I’ve been a long-time fan of this author. No one does rom-com better than Julia Kent… no one. Fluffy is yet another example of her laugh-out-loud, yet sweetly sentimental writing style. This story will lighten your heart, while simultaneously squeezing it. This is a true second-chance love story, told with an irreverent wit guaranteed to ensure an almost complete inability to put this book down, once you’ve started reading. I know I didn’t… even when my body was begging me to sleep. Take that, body! Who’s the boss now, huh? Aaaanyway, this story is one with which so many women can relate… regardless of age. We all have that one crush from high school—that seemingly unattainable specimen of perfection—that haunted our dreams and tortured our hearts on a daily basis, as we stalked/watched them in those hallowed halls of learning. What wouldn’t we give for a chance at real happiness with that person? We might even brave the hell of a high school reunion (shudders)… even if the object of our affection also played a starring role in the most embarrassing moment—to date, at least (Let’s be honest. This probably won’t be the last time we’re embarrassed on a grand scale)—of our lives, played out on social media for all eternity. What could go wrong? More importantly, what might go right? When it comes to this book, it all goes right. You honestly cannot go wrong this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a pulse… or without one. Hey, ghosts need good reading material too, right?
*I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are completely my own.

The taco eating obsession with perfect guacamole to sour cream ratio, the accidental synching of computer porn audio with the coffee shop sound system, the texts from the heroine’s parents - this book is the perfect escape from reality! Just be warned...you may never look at marshmallow Fluff the same way ever again.

Julia Kent spares her characters no embarrassment. She writes complex, quirky characters that could be you, me, your BFF, your family, the girls in the office, etc. That makes them oh-so relatable! Her heroes embody all the qualities that really matter in a man - kindness, acceptance, humor, generosity and most of all — loving a woman for who she is. Like Julia Kent’s other rom-coms, Fluffy works the feels from one extreme to the other — snort-Coke-out-your-nose laughter to snotty tears of happiness when Will and Mal have their emo moments.

Romantic Comedy at its Best!!

Mallory stages houses and is a bit naive. When a Craigslist ad appears to be in her area of expertise, she is almost arrested due to the misunderstanding. Her heart-throb Will from high school happens to be the one to keep her from being arrested.
We get glimpses of their interactions ten years ago and learn that Will appreciates Mallory’s intelligence and works to raise her self-esteem. Romantic, humorous and brilliant read which highly entertains!!

JK always knocks it out of the park with her rom-coms but this one was something else. I mean when a book starts on a porn set by accident, the only place to go is up, right? Sometimes, but also sometimes not so much.
This book had me dying laughing so often I had tears in my eyes. Mallory is so smart and witty. She literally has an answer for everything. Will always seemed perfect but really, he's just like everyone else. My favorite part about these two was watching them let go of all their misconceptions they had about each other since high school. I'd love to see some of these scenes from Will's POV and I can't wait for Perky's story!!

Fabulous!!

Back in high school Mallory Monahan had a huge crush on Will Lotham now 10 years later she runs into him when she mistakenly takes a professional fluffer job (which thinks is a home staging job) she found on Craiglist. Boy do things go wrong! I couldn't put this book down and laughed out loud so many times! Get it and read it!!!

Will and Mal are a welcome addition to the Julia Kent Couples Hall of Fame. Their quick repartee and humor, deep connection and attraction all combine to their ultimate “rightness” as a couple. And to the mix a group of crazy but forever loyal besties and well intentioned but perpetually interrupting parents, and you have quite the read. And reread.

I love Will and Mal! Mal’s situation at the beginning was hilarious. Will and Mal have definite chemistry and their banter throughout the book is awesome. Even the side characters have you rolling in laughter. A book full of witty banter, hilarious situations, chemistry, friends, and love! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!
