Same old thing
I voluntarily received an ARC of Snared via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This review is hard for me to write because for the first time I found it very hard to get into a book from this series, and it was a bit of a chore to finish. I think this was more of a mindset thing with me. But then I am not sure if it is all my fault. A series needs to stay fresh and keep things new and interesting to keep me hooked. I have lost interest with many long-running book series. The same goes with TV shows. If it is just the same formula plot reproduced with a slight twist over and over I am beyond bored and ready to move one. Unfortunately, this is how I felt with most of Snared. The plot was very predictable and even the little twist at the end wasn’t much of a twist.
I am not sure if I am going to continue this series after this book. I may give it one more shot. The plots are becoming incredibly tedious, and this series needs a boost of some originality. Gin stumbling around not being able to figure out what is so clear to the reader becomes tiresome. Her hunting a serial Killer was new, but it really was the same, she is pitted against Ashland newest big bad. It’s up to her to figure it out before all is lost. She winds up going head to head with big bad and if you have read any other of these books you can guess the ending. Because they are all the same.
I am giving Snared Two Boundless Stars, I didn’t hate it but it could have been so much better. I am on the fence If I will give this series another shot. This may be the nail in the coffin for me.
