• Streets, Lots, and Garages: Enter the zone number on the posted signs in your area. Select the amount of time you want to park, and start your session. Extend time in the app if you are running late.

2FA will not work if you already use ParkMobile

I already have ParkMobile installed as I’m a Metra user that park in the suburbs of Chicago. The MKE Park app is essentially a Milwaukee flavored wrapper for the ParkMobile app. The two factor authentication by email verification makes it impossible to log into MKE if you already have the ParkMobile app installed, because the link will open PM instead of MKE. Of course, there’s no problem using the ParkMobile app to park in Milwaukee but it isn’t obvious for visitors who were not exposed to the city’s ad campaign and there are almost NO signs for the app except a little sticker on the meters which is difficult to see at night. [update] There is a workaround to opening the 2FA link in MKE by long-pressing the link and opening the link in Safari. The web link will then ask to open MKE instead of PM. MKE will inherit strings from PM and also give you access to Milwaukee specific links in the app like the overnight registration and HOP info.

In January 2026, I attempted to use the app to park in Milwaukee. For some reason, the app was unresponsive when I tried to enter and save my license plate, phone number and preferred method of payment. I used the app several years earlier with no problem, but now it seems to be broken.

Absolute useless garbage

Wont let you do anything without a. One number but there is NO ZONE NUMBER IN THE METER. Completely inaccurate location spotting means that it does t think I’m parked where I am and won’t give my meter number as an option. Won’t let you JUST ENTER THE NUMBER IF TGE METER I PARKED AT. Lacks basic functionality

The app should allow the user to key in the number printer on the (Milwaukee) parking meter. Having to invoke a map and click/scroll around makes a simple task unnecessarily complex.

So, it’s obvious that many reviewers like the app here, and I don’t. Here’s why. The barcode reader

at garage entry and exit isn’t always great. Coming back from a great warmer weather vacation, something caused my MKE Smart Park app to decide to take one! Somehow

by the time I deplaned walked the longer distance to my level 4 parking spot, and drove out to what appears to be the only Smart Park exit lane, my app logged out. This was the major hassle and why it did it no one knowledgeable has explained it, so far.

So, no logged on NO barcode to pay and exit at the garage exit lanes. So I had to make a phone call at midnight, and go through all the semantics of identifying myself and my vehicle. The whole process took me about 15 minutes. I think next time I will just use a traditional credit card for payment. You can gladly have the smart app! It’s not for me.

This app made it possible to park in mke, since all the meters around UWM have worn out card readers. Except that someone stole my phone so now I’m back to using my iPhone 6. Every app works on it but this one, that won’t even allow a previous version to install, when I had one on this phone that worked fine not long ago. So I‘m supposed to buy a new thousand dollar phone just to park? Guess I’ll ride my bike from the free Park-n-Ride or something. Disappointing.

No scanning sticker present. We tried parking on Wisconsin and NONE of the zones contained the parking spot number. Can’t search by spot number and there was no way to find the zone. Who is responsible for this crappy app??

Ripoff

I had a minute and 30 left on my meter from paying directly with my credit card. I added the app so I could add some additional minutes and do it again if I was in a store for too long. I tried to add 30 minutes and in doing so it erased the hour and a half I already had on there and shorted me an hour and a half. I went back to check my carAnd it was flashing or I could’ve gotten a ticket. They deleted the money that I had already paid and it is not clear at all that you will lose this time when you try to add more minutes. What they essentially are doing is double charging people when they pay with cash and try to add minutes through the app. It’s a complete rip off and should be a class action lawsuit. I’m going to see if I can bring this up to an attorney friend. Seems like massive fraud on a crazy high scale.

The city charges such exorbitant rates that nobody has that much change in their pocket and businesses don’t want to break bills for everyone so the city buys the app. Now when you find and old styled meter you have to pay $.36 in addition to the exorbitant rates. I just spent 20 minutes setting up a parking session. It "failed" my payment three times, then "failed" again saying I am already in a parking session at that spot. Of course this is consistent with Milwaukee's overall parking management. They make it as hard as possible to follow the rules so they can continue to collect $20 million+ in parking violation revenues every year.

Zone?

There aren’t any zone postings on the meters nor on nearby signs. The first time I used the app, I had 3 zones pop up on the app. I chose the first one, paid, and ended up with a ticket. I disputed the ticket with the city showing I paid through the app and they refused to overturn it. The second time I tried to use this, again not knowing the zone, I put the meter space in and the map showed that I was located in a different part of the city. My trust in this app is gone.

I used to love this app, however for the last two weeks the app doesn’t recognize my payment method and asks me to add one. When I click on the link to add a payment method, the only ones available to add are ones I haven’t used yet. I’m out of options to add as I already used 5 of them and those are not available to use after you add them. PLEASE HELP!!!!! Fix the payment method access.

Parking app works well, needs a step up

If you know the meter number the parking app works great to accomplish its core functionality. It should be improved to show the meter number in the app by pointing to individual parking spaces on the map. Also, while 38 cents seems de minimis, its a big % increase when the meter rate is 50 cents per hour. The city should license the software and charge only enough to recover the cost.

App always thinks Apple Pay failed

With the new version the app always thinks payment failed. I’m using Apple Pay. The app reports a failure with payment. So i try to pay again and then I’m told the spot is already taken (which tells me payment went thru), then I’ll check my iOS wallet and see payment did go thru, and I even get a reminder text when my time is almost expired.

But the app doesn’t let me review my time because it doesn’t think I paid.

I was attempting to pay for parking in Downtown MKE. The app came up and asked for a zone. Didn’t know what was being asked for and the help button wasn’t helpful. The phone has GPS and showed where I was. Would not accept the space number without the zone. What is the zone? And why can’t it Determine the zone by that information?

Will not allow recharge, even when under time limit

When you're parking in a 2-hr spot, beware that you can only pay the app once for that spot.

I paid 1 hr in a 2 hr spot and tried to recharge. I walked back to my car to find a $22 ticket. After confronting the meter maid, I followed the process of appeal (which involved faxing a broken fax line), but the snail mail took too much time to arrive which then gave me a late fee.

I clearly outlined this issue in the appeal process and just now received my rejection notice, 4 months later.

Clearly, this app doesn't function as it should. Clearly, this app doesn't communicate clearly its function.

Clearly, Milwaukee needs revenue badly.

Clearly, I am not pleased about their extortion.

Nobody wants to pay to Park..

Of course this is like saying here's the fastest way to pay your taxes. Anyone in Milw who doesn't appreciate this app apparently didn't live back when you had to shake down your seats for quarters to park. Sure there is a minor surcharge but to just type in the location number and your time (which you can extend up to the max 2 hour limit if you stay longer) and have it charge the "$1.88" for 57 minutes is the way to go. Just Set up your cars by license plate in advance and set up payment type in advance. After that it's 10 seconds once you find a spot. Again, not defending parking fees themselves but if you're stuck paying them this at least makes it as painless as possible.
