Description
ViewExif is an iOS extension which allows you to view metadata of photos and videos. It adds metadata capability not only for Photos app but also for 3rd-party apps.
Being able to read exif tags can be of great importance not only for beginners, but also for other photographers who want to find out what settings and tools were used to create a particular photograph.
For those people who want to protect privacy, this app is useful for you as well. When you send photos via email or share on social network, your personal information (geo location, taken date etc) is shared as well. If you upset to share those information, ViewExif is able to remove it before sharing.

Please fix the map issue
I'd give 5 stars as before but the map has a serious issue! It doesn't show the proper city let alone location after the recent update. I live in Iran and all the photos I've taken in different cities are displayed in the capital city Tehran! Please fix it. Love everything else about this handy app!

Video Defect
If you receive a video in iMessage you cannot view EXIF info without first saving the video to the camera roll. Why is this an issue with just videos when pics work fine? I've reported it before, it should have been fixed by now and hasn't.

Great utility
I use this app all the time. It is very useful, especially prior to apples way-too-late-to-the-scene with showing a little more info than none like they do before. I use this even just for the time the picture was taken! Apples display of the time changes is your time zone changes (like while traveling) and will be incorrect! I store the app way out of the way, it's used through the interface of ios not directly. It's in the "open in/send to" symbol, the square with an arrow pointing upwards out of it. On the bottom, the gray silhouette ones not the color ones, has the app listed. You probably have to scroll over to the right to even see it-I edit the list to have it shown up first as I use it all the time.
As others noticed, the app has been left alone for a long time, and I do hope it hasn't been abandoned. Oh, and while it seems cell data isn't needed for something to simply display a photos exif data, which it isn't, it's useful to download map data for the geotagged photos to display.

@Cecadib pay close attention
This app does exactly what it claims to do and it does it quickly & Efficiently. While viewing a photo, press the the app picker and select the app icon. Poof! If there is data, the Information pops up! That's all there is to it. There is an option to share with or with out the data too. I highly recommend this app if looking for a very simple way to view and/or strip basic metadata & information with camera/phone, photos or videos.
GIVING THIS APP 1 STAR & writing "there's no app included & it must have been abandon, I want my money back" Reveals the author DOESN'T POSESS THE BASIC MENTAL READING & COMPREHENSION SKILLS TO FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS.

This is not a good app anymore.
If this was a good app once it no longer is. I cannot see geolocation, share without metadata on any app, nor use any actual function in the app description beyond seeing the basic data. A year and a half since the last update. Seems like an abandoned app. Shouldn't be sold anymore. Do not buy this app.

Inflated reviews; NO APP do not buy!!
Apr 2017 There is no app included in the download. This app must have been abandoned by its creator. When you download it and open it you are taken to a directory with 5 steps on how to open pictures in your google photos from outdated versions with a option to share on Facebook. That is it. I am requesting a refund through apple, this app should definitely be removed for purchase.

Amazing App
Fantastic application, does exactly what it claims. ISO, location, aperture, etc have been accurate every time thus far. The option to not share your EXIF data is a great convenience as well. Well worth the $99 price tag. Props to the developers.

A seriously great app
It allows you to easily share your photos without sharing where you took the pictures.
If others share their photos with meta data you can see what camera they used and where they took the pics.
Simple to use and essential if you're taking pics and sharing them with the world. A must have.

Excellent App!
I can go into All Photos, select one, hit the up arrow at the bottom of the screen and select ViewExif and have instant access to all of the key data and location information regarding that photo. This app is so easy to use and has so much info- I'm amazed at its functionality ever time I use it!

Excellent Little Tool!
This app does exactly what it says it is going to do, and it does so in a very straightforward, intuitive, and helpful way. It is NOT fancy, and it does not have a bunch of advanced features, because that is not what it is intended for.
It is just a valuable little tool that gives you the information that you need, as simply and quickly as possible. Thank you for making it available to all of us!

Does not work on iOS 9.3.4!
Purchased app, and it does not show up in iOS settings, photos more menu, Dropbox more menu, or google drive more menu. Uninstalled and reinstalled 3 multiple times. If this app is no longer supported and has been abandoned I'd like a refund! You shouldn't be selling apps that don't work.

There are lots of free apps that do this. I was hoping a paid for app would allow me to copy and paste the data, but no luck. Too bad. Guess I'm out $0.99.

Getting left behind
This app has lots of nice data about your photo. But its getting left behind by other apps offering more now.
For example, Metapho now lets you browse through photos to compare exposure data side by side, as well as allowing you to edit the metadata, dates, and location.
If ViewExif could offer this, they would have a winner.

Surprisingly Fun!
This app flows well with iOS. It feels like it was, or should have been, always there. It showed the camera for all of my photos, including from family. It even has a map for where the picture was taken! You have to turn the Photo's option/button on, but open the app and it has a great instruction manual.
Tip: If you have a wallpaper that is a picture, check it with this app. Many will tell you the program that was used. Some will even tell you the camera or the location. It's surprisingly fun!

I don't get it
Literally. I downloaded this app, follow the directions to receive EXIF data on the photo, and simply received information on the file name and the size of the photo, but nothing at all on the type of camera used, the lens used, the settings, or the location. All in all, I found it to be pretty worthless.

Now perfect with full Hipstamatic support
UPDATE 1/26/16: Huge thanks for adding support for the Software tag. It now works perfectly with Hipstamatic pics and correctly displays the full camera make, model, and lens data via the Software tag. Now an indispensable app, 5 stars!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Great app for doing exactly what it claims: super quick access to exif data integrated with the iOS photos app. A missing feature from Apple and this is well worth the $0.99 to fill the gap.
Feature request: Can you include full details from Hipstamatic, such as lens and film data? That would bump this to an instant 5-star review and make life much easier when working with Hipstamatic prints in the iOS photo app.

Absolutely excellent. I've loved EXIF Editor for years, & nothing beats it for easily copying geo info from one pic to another. This gem gives me easy access to the otherwise hidden metadata... golden!
BTW, you'll see lens used & geo info only if it's already embedded in the pic's metadata, eg Sony a77v/a99v/hx90v, Nikon p990. Re the p900, ViewEXIF even shows the 35mm equivalent of the maxed out 83x optical zoom -- 2000mm. Sweet!!

Checking the EXIF data of a photo or a video is essential if you want to get more information about the photo, the camera setting and of course the location of a shared photo. One of best of its kind
I've tried several apps that show exif data and this is one of the best. It displays all of the information you could want.
The developer is responsive and takes feature requests seriously. Two feature requests I made were included in a past update.

Extremely useful - should be native to ios
...but it would be even better if it weren't limited to Photos. For example, is there a way to make it work with the Dropbox app? Frustrates me to no end that I can't easily see the exif data on my uploaded photos from the iPad; this would be such a great tool for that.

Nice, but a bit limited.
Nice implementation. Access via the share function is a good idea. Formatting the data displayed into a more familiar format is good too.
One limitation I see is the date/time displayed is not the captured or digitized time, it appears to be the metadata time.
Another limitation is the number of EXIF data fields that are displayed is only a small subset of the EXIF data available on the iOS platform.
A third limitation is the inability to edit the EXIF data. iOS doesn't allow editing of EXIF data in the original photo but a copy of the photo with edited EXIF data can be created.
I will check updates to see improvements but this app has a long way to go before it would take me away from EXIF Wizard Pro.

to qb748's review about the app being broken, it's not. i had the same or similar issue but figured it out. btw, i am no way affiliated with the author but sharing what i found out on my own... under settings, turn location services on, then choose 'camera' and change the setting from 'never' to 'while using the app.' then take a picture. it should be geotagged. go back to this or any other exif app and see if the location data is there. obviously, any photos taken before this settings change - whether location services were on or not - won't have any gps data. it was off at the 'location services' -> 'specific app' to begin with.
also, this app in particular does have a way to contact the author. click on the app, then 'about,' then 'contact,' which pops up an email draft with the email address & subject line already filled out.

Mine Is Broken
Thought this would be great... but it does not show location information at all... not on any photo of mine or anybody else's for that matter.
If it really IS supposed to, the manual does NOTHING to show you... and app support does not display an email address for me to contact them. I don't use any of the popular email companies... so that automatic "contact us" bu11sh!t does nothing to help me contact you.
