Used to love it, now it's so slow it takes minutes to do a google search. Please fix this :(

Lacks ctrl, alt, shift, sticky key, and click+drag functions, no view re-center option, zoom doubles as page scrolling (what?), too much mouse-snapping which interferes with fine control, annoying "Your screen is being shared" sticker that cannot be moved with app.

First time using it and I had absolutely no problems on the iPhone 7 or iMac.

I started using this app because I needed to actress my computer while I was out of the country. It worked perfect for about a year, it was amazing. Now because it's so out of date it won't connect at all for me anymore. I wish they would update it. I'd even pay for the app if it would work again.

Able to type in the key, but can't get through PIN on my Windows desktop as keyboard doesn't type anything.

You really can't use a lot of important functions without use of arrow keys. I have no idea why they didn't make arrow keys work!

Had no idea this existed. Honestly I love that google has provided this app, great for browsing YouTube and changing shows on Netflix from the couch!

Special keyboard buttons like printscreen, alt, tab, f1 - f12, and Controller Support, fps isn't the best but that can be optimized... you should be fine as long as you aren't attempting to play pc games from your phone like I was

Setup is easy and it works quite well. But I gave to say that that right-clicking only works if you tap with two fingers juuuust right. It could cause a repetitive stress injury with trying over and over. And sadly there's no way to adjust it or change the gesture.

UPDATE-- Make sure you're in Trackpad mode (the mouse icon) and keep your fingers wide apart. Tap once & lift. Works better that way.

Very good but It would be 5 stars if it was possible to turn off the screen of my PC while I was accessing it via my iPad or iPhone.

The app no longer works on mobile devices on pure IPv6 mobile networks. This includes T-Mobile USA, as well as a bunch of European cell phone providers. This is because of improper support for IPv6-only mobile networks. The only workaround is to force a connection to an IPv4-only VPN service and then use the app that way. Please fix this!!

I need to access my computer with my iPad for educational sessions. Without sound, the app is useless to me. Otherwise it controls the remote computer well.

Really is a great lightweight app, can almost always connect to the machine I need to, responds fast, doesn't slow down the machine, etc. My main suggestion would be multi-tasking, it can take 10-15 seconds to connect and if your phone locks, you switch apps (perhaps you need to check something in your email, Notes or a text message, etc) it disconnects you and you need to connect all over again. Other suggestions include ability to add a button for Ctrl (other special keys as well but this is probably the most needed / common), and finally clipboard support would be great. But overall is a solid free method for connecting to a machine remotely.

What's wrong with you Google? You allow this from PC but not phone?

Edit: and I have to sign in on either? TeamViewer doesn't need that, but doesn't work on a chromebook either. Guess I can't recommend them to people who need a lot of help anymore.

I like the RDP clients that allow you to control the scrolling of the host window when it's too large for the iPhone screen, rather than the Chrome interpretation which moves the host window in the opposite direction of your thumb movement. An example of the screen movement interpretation I like better is, Jump RDP for the iPhone, or LogMeIn RDP for the iPhone.

I just installed this app and it was very user-friendly! I highly recommend it to anyone in need of remote access through their phone.

Like this app for when I am needing to access my home computer when I'm at work or wherever else I might be. I would give this app a 5 star rating if you could delete the computers that are no longer connected so those are not seen anymore. If there is a way to do that, the instructions to do that would be great to have.

Easy install and setup, for sure. I downloaded this because ARD went belly up, and I needed something between my Macs, and this iOS app is just a bonus. Sure wish Apple would provide this service, and for free like Google.

Always freezes, mouse controls lack distinct right/left click buttons, and the on screen keyboard lacks a ton of functionality. Literally a useless app. On the bright side, it was easy to set up. However I recommend getting Splashtop.

I would like to say this is one of the, if not, the easiest RDC apps/programs I've ever used. You don't need to pay for any in-app purchases to use it over 3G. One of the minor flaws is the screen size. It's not Google's fault, though.

Basically, this is the best one I've seen so far. This is the RDC version of Discord.

This app is so easy to use and I've used a lot of the other ones including some of the paid ones. I don't need access to my work and home computers very often, because I use Google Drive. But I used to use logmein which was free for basic features for a long time, but then they went to a paid version and locked me out. I tried other paid versions and they pail in comparison to Google Remote Desktop.

This is a great app but needs support for CMD and arrow keys on Bluetooth keyboard!

One of the main reasons I got the app was so I could have arrow keys, but I can't seem to find them. If you don't have them, maybe try adding them? Or make them easy to use and find?

I've been searching for something that can do what this does for years. It has no glitches and its usability when accessing from an iPhone is incredibly impressive. This is just so amazingly useful and amazingly well done.

This is a great Remote Desktop app; the best I have found that is free. I have not run into any issues and setup is extremely easy with windows.

- Very cumbersome and awkward interface.

- Not compatible with bluetooth keyboards.

- Even at low resolutions (1280x720) on the remote computer, the screen does not fit on a iPad's retina display.

- Video and graphics on the remote computer will often not display on the ipad.

- No way of hooking up a bluetooth mouse.

The app is great and a very good RD Client. I also like that it's free, but please add audio support for iOS devices. When I play audio from the Remote Desktop connection, it plays on my PC, but my phone is silent!

By far the smoothest, easiest, most stable remote assist app I've ever used. The scrolling is so smooth on both sides I can even use it just as a remote control for my PC from across the room to amaze people. The screen share is MUCH better then teamviewer. HOWEVER, there is no file transfer part of the app. So you cannot simply view a list of the files on your remote client to transfer to your device. You would have to email the files to yourself from the computer you are controlling. Other then that it's awesome.

For me it only seems to work when I'm in range of my Laptop. I used the app when I went away to get work done and I can't open my tabs. It works, clicks, executes but no image is shown when I open my programs or browsers. Very frustrating when you need it for work.

Still having problems with the sound not working on Windows 10. Was supposed to be fixed three versions ago.

This app works great. I wish my phone keyboard had the keys of my desktop. That would just do it for me. Set up is easy. Pin makes it secure. And doesn't need wifi to work. I was about 5 miles away and it still worked. Love it.

It works fine, but the reason I got this was to connect to my computer. I have t connected, but I can't play games on websites like miniclip. Please fix it so that I can play games like that through this app.

This was a breeze to set up. I just followed the instructions and was able to remotely access my MacBook Air from my iPad within minutes. The only problem, however, is that the on-screen keyboard within the app as well as BT keyboard support is VERY limited. How limited, you ask? Well, the arrow keys don't work, so typing is kind of wonky and interrupted with frequent tapping to put the cursor where you want it. Pressing delete will work as a backspace, but pressing fn+delete does not work, neither do any other fn+ shortcuts. Other shortcuts like CMD+C or ctrl+C to copy/paste don't work either. Google, thanks for the free product, but please update keyboard support! Thanks.

Everything I needed works in this app except the two finger tap for a right click. Can't seem to get that to work. Everything else works seamlessly and fast. Doesn't change the resolution on the host computer, which was so annoying with team viewer.

I used this app to remotely control my Mac laptop. For the most part, it worked well and was very helpful. I am not sure how to bring up context menus remotely (right click mouse button). And sound playing on my laptop does not play remotely. If there is a way to fix those two things, it would be great.

So I tried playing TF2 with the app and when I was playing I noticed there was no arrow keys to move and was bummed so I used my key board, then when I tried to move around the screen it was really sensitive and move to fast to control so I suggest you add a game mode option for this because I bet at least 90% wanted to use this app to play games on

Hands down this is the best client I have ever used. It is fast, great interface, very stable/secure. Also incredibly easy to use and setup. I have had some keyboard issues connecting to the OS X server on my Mac mini, but the windows server works flawless. Best of all, it's 100% free!

It's a great app overall, especially for its price. I wish that you could stream sound as well, (the sound plays from your computer) but this can be very helpful for doing things that don't require sound whole you are away from your PC!

Needless to say, this is a wonderful app to have, definitely more than 5 stars. I'm not on the go much and when I do end up on the go I either bring my laptop with me or have no use for it. But this app is still pretty fun to play around with. There are only a few things that I would say could be done with the app:

- Latency can be reduced. I have a feeling it is something to do with the app, because it will lag on my iPod while my laptop is running quite fine.

- Add mouse wheel, left click, and right click buttons off to the side when using the mouse. That would be a nice addition and add more functionality to the mouse.

- Fix the mouse sync. When I move the mouse on my iPod, it is in sync with my laptop, but when I move the mouse on my laptop, it does not sync with the mouse on my iPod.

- Add full screen support. I noticed that apps in full screen will not appear on my iPod.

- Earlier I said I like to toy around with it. It is pretty fun to play games on my laptop through my iPod. This goes along with the mouse sync part, but it would be nice if the mouse in the app would go to the center of the screen when playing games. It makes it a little hard to play games when, depending on where your mouse is, you constantly make a hard left. Oh well!

If you did these things, it would still be worth more than 5 stars! Keep up the good work, Google!

I built a MONSTER of a computer that sits in my apartment and dual boots in Windows 10 and OS X El Capitan. When I'm on the go, all I have is a Acer Chromebook or my iPhone, and I'm able to utilize the full functionality my computer back home that's running with an i7 4Ghz processor, 16Gb RAM @ 1866, NVIDIA GTX 770 GPU, and solid state installed programs. All because of chrome Remote Desktop.

As a student who can't always bring his PC to class, this is a reliable and efficient alternative. I can basically get Windows on my iPhone with this app.

One recommendation for the developers: Chromecast support. Imagine being able to cast a desktop to a tv while using the phone as a trackpad along with a Bluetooth keyboard. I can already get similar functionality with airplay, but I think with the Chromecast handling the actual visual link to the desktop, latency can be reduced.

I love this app. I'm new to google products, been an apple man, however Google has made such wonderful free products I've considered switching. I tried splashtop Remote Desktop and was going to pay $10 and $15 yearly subscription until I found this app. Highly recommended for anyone with a desktop at home. Now I get use out of my desktop!!! Only problem is no audio playback, but that could be my settings, still experimenting but same issues with Splashtop. Either way FREE and works great!!! This is a great Remote Desktop because it works, is free, has no in-app purchases, and has no advertising. Unlike some other free RD options, this allows one to have multiple computers. I encourage Google to continue to offer this ad-free software for free.

I really love this app and it allows me to get work done from almost anywhere, however, there are some limitations that need to be corrected. I typically use this on my iPad with a bluetooth keyboard, but there are many keys on my keyboard (and from the on-screen keyboard) that won't send to the computer being controlled. For coding purposes, its a real pain that I can't use any F keys, the accent key, or my arrow keys while typing. Also, keyboard shortcuts with control, option, or alt do not send either. This app could be my most used app of all time if the keyboard functionality were improved. As for now, I'll have to continue to copy and paste from character map.

I can connect to my PC but whenever I sign in (on Windows 8.1 lock screen) it always freezes and stays there. All I see is the split second after I click the return button after typing in my password. You need to fix this and I will give a 5 star rating. Thanks.

I would love for a load more settings like a super duper expert pro mlg nerd mode and make it able to transfer files and play sound on phone not desktop when connected I had a size problem but Iam on phone so that's why but make it to where when you connect like most remote programs it sets desktop to resolution of remote device like 800x350

From initially thinking this is a good app, to now knowing that this is a typical google beta. Have to log in sometimes 4 times to get it working. Half the time it just sits there doing nothing when trying to connect to my home computer.

google should be ashamed of themselves for not testing this better and creating excellent software. this is another example of google's "good enough for the masses" software, rather than trying to make the best software possible. If these programers worked for me they would be fired. if you can’t do it right, don’t do it.

I usually never do reviews but this app is great, I used to have logmein, but with this app I can do the same thing and not pay anything, and no problems so far, plus it's secure. Thank you google. Definitely recommend.

This app works great but the only problem I have is that the cursor flickers on the actual computer (not on the app) and you can't see mouse movements on the app. Maybe a few more settings would be nice too but other than that I like it.

Best Remote Desktop app I've tried. Works on both Mac and windows (I have one of each running in my home) and it's FREE.

I experience no lag whatsoever on my home network. I've yet to try it from out of home though.

It has a simple straightforward interface and gets the job done.

My only critique so far is it'd be nice to have a full keyboard in-app. I'm using this to run some commands in terminal and it'd be nice to be able to use the arrow keys. I solved this by using an on-screen keyboard on my Mac so it's no big issue.

Still, 5 stars from me!

I love this app! It's absolutely amazing! I've always wanted a way to control my pc via my phone and now I can. I'm showing this to all my friends. Though I would advise watching who connects to your pc because this app lets you control any pc you have info for so yeah... Just stay safe out there.

I watch all my TV on my computer, and nothing is worse (#firstworldproblems) than having to get out of bed and cross the room just to change an episode or turn down the volume.

I had some issues initially figuring out how to connect it to my laptop, but once that process was over it couldn't be easier 👌

Chrome desktop is good if you have a single monitor, but add more than one (at least oe Mac) and it's an ongoing broken experience. Seems that has carried over to the app as well. I've checked in every couple weeks since release and this still for some reason does not at all. I usually don't give negative reviews being a developer myself but this is an ongoing issue that just doesn't make sense, especially since the app launched with this issue from the start.

This thing works very well, yes I can get almost everything done on my iPhone that I can do on my computer with ease. Just one thing for now, I can't hear or get sound from my computer to my iPhone, maybe it's not ready or I need to setup something. But definitely to that it's smooth sailing.

Like others, I have been waiting and hoping that Google would release this for IOS.

After downloading it and taking it for a test drive, I'm impressed, and it was worth the wait. There is no lag at all, even logging in through an ad hoc network at work to my iMac at home. The user interface was also very smooth feeling.

For a few years now, I've been using other popular apps for this. Tonight, I will be uninstalling all other apps I've been using, it's that good!

On a side note, I use dual displays and I still had no problems navigating my desktop screen.

Lag free on my network (5mb down, 1mb up). Great quality too. I have 1 issue and two suggestions. My issue is that windows 7 will revert to the basic theme after a few minutes of use saying low memory even though I have a dedicated 2GB GPU and 8GB of RAM. From what I've read this is on Micro$ofts end. One suggestion is to add better dragging support, right now it's a pain to drag a window and the second is to be able to use the volume buttons to be able to adjust the pc's volume. I use this on an iPad Air with no bugs or anything, thank you Google devs for all of your great apps!

Only took me about two minutes to setup. Multiple input options. Not too power hungry on the cpu. I would recommend being that it is free and all. Works better than Splashtop.

Overall I love this app, I had used Real VNC and Windows Remote Desktop but so far I am liking the Chrome Remote Desktop application. It’s a little complex with setting up for the typical mac user, however, working in the IT field this is a simple process. The more chrome extensions available on IOS the better, because Safari eats Chrome’s dusts in browser comparison.

And ended free access unless you subscribed, Google came to the rescue. Although I took advantage of a 1-year reduced rate with a certain Log company, I shall end that relationship when the term is up and go with Google. Thank you, G!

I've been waiting a log time for this app to be released and it works beautifully. Obviously controlling a Mac with an iPhone can be a little awkward but it's really nice to be able to switch back and forth between the mouse and keyboard in a seamless manner. Very happy and incredibly excited about this app.

Installation was rather easy, opening Chrome, downloading the browser app, etc. and the Chrome doesn’t need to be open to access the computer’s screen with this app. But aside from being able to click on things and move the mouse, it doesn’t really do much. Dragging icons is rather difficult, and there’s no way to use special keys like command, control, option, etc. And there’s not much documentation on the app, either: I still don’t know what one of the icons in the gray menubar does.

Joking aside, this app does exactly what it is supposed to do and it does it well. In classic Google style it isn't bloated and riddled with "extras" that you really don't need.

I'm sure the user experience will get even better with time. Right now the only thing I wish it had that it doesn't is the ability to send custom key combinations and or the ability to use a full keyboard. For example changing between applications on a large, dual screen desktop would be much easier if I could send "command+tab" at the touch of a finger. Instead I have to scroll and zoom my way across the desktop to the dock to find the app I want then scroll/zoom back to my workspace.

That MINOR annoyance is not at all a deal breaker. This app is just as awesome as you'd expect from Google.

I'm using my phone to control a Mac server remotely and am using it have used at least half a dozen solution currently and in the past. Here's my review of this one. First, the installation process is archaic and complex. Certainly not a typical Mac user experience. After a lengthy process of installing Chrome, installing the extension, the app, downloading and installing a System Preferences panel, Chrome froze up and then my whole Mac froze in ways I haven't seen in years. Finally after a forced reboot and having to force quit System Preferences a few times I got it all to work. Even though you are logged to a google account you must use a six-digit PIN to connect. The interface on the iPhone is slooower to respond than using any of my VNC or other remote access type apps. The mouse movements at imprecise and the mouse arrow is moving way after you stopped moving it with your finger. The lag is painful even when connecting using home wifi. The display scrolling is unintuitive and unpredictable. Typing doesn't support international keyboards, type a non-US letter (in my case å,ä,ö) and find those keystrokes completely ignored, bizarre! And this happens regardless of the target Mac's input keyboard setting.

I give it two stars for the fact that it kind of works and is free. But no more since there are many better solutions.

I wanted this kinds of remote desktop app for iOS. But this app is not working well in windows with multiple monitors. In my windows 7 with three monitors, this app shows just black screen. please fix it. Of course, very well for windows having just one monitor...

I was waiting for a iOS version of the app for months ! Anyways, the connections are solid, though I didn't like the mouse scrolling, could have implanted touch based interface also I guess ...and the keyboard interface is a bit unreliable. Nevertheless, Google will eventually release bugfixes anyways so, 5 on 5 !

This is why I love google! I've tried to do the same thing with other programs and it never fully worked. But Google got it right with one try. It works flawlessly and can do way more than I anticipated. Way to go google!

Very useful and free and easy! Only problem I see so far is in Minecraft the mouse doesn't recognize that it's locked in place. So mouse movement still stops when it hits e edge of the screen, even though there is no mouse moving on the remote screen.

I've been waiting for this for almost a year. I'm giving 5 stars simply because after installing and connecting with my office Mac I was able to actually use it, on an iPhone, with virtually zero lag. It's intuitive in design and a perfect combo for anyone who uses a smartphone/tablet on the go and needs desktop access on-demand.

To be honest, when I read an article saying that Google released an iOS version of a desktop remote I thought of one thing: controlling Netflix on my phone from my bed.

It works amazingly well at that. I've used a Remote Desktop app before, one installed on a corporation iPad, and this works similarly to that one. But this is free. And works awesome. And is amazing. And I love it.

Netflix lags a little on my computer(hooked up to my tv) when it's being mirrored to my iPhone 6 plus, but is a lot better than I would have thought. I just hit the quit mirroring button with my phone, then start the remote again when I'm bored of Parks And Recreation and want to watch some Office.
