Mediocre at Best
I cannot understand how this mediocre app gets such raving reviews. It frequently takes 10 full minutes to authorize payments at pumps, the station locator is extremely slow and is very sensitive to zoom level and panning. It will show zero stations in one view but if you pan or zoom even slightly, stations will appear. The only reason I bother with this app is because I’m currently getting 30 cents off every gallon of renewable diesel I pump if I use this app. Did they even test this app?
Tip: The pump will authorize much quicker if you use a credit card to pay instead of Apple Pay.

Normally works fine. Today was a little slow and it timed out. Tried to reset. No luck. Moved to a different pump. Says I’m locked out for 24 hours. If you want me to use your product don’t lock me out of my own account. Have a way to authenticate or something.

Although this app was recommended to me , I terribly disagree that it is helpful . The first time I used it , I did not give me a discount, then I started having issues at the pump for payment . Everything works perfect and easy to use at any 76 gas pump. I really love this app and I can see what station is in the area and even shows the price !I def travel for work and finding new 76 gas stations is a little bit of a fun adventure for me! I don’t update my apps ever and im on version 7.6.0 and works perfectly without any issues! Please don’t change anything besides earning more points on 76 purchases inside the store.! But I 76 stations are usually owned by private owners while 76 gas is only used , but I like it and think 76 and Chevron are the best app !

Disappointing
I have been an user for almost a year and never had issues. Last Valentine’s I pumped fuel and paid with the app. 5 days later I got a message saying that my payment was rejected and I had been sent to a collection agent who charged more than double. No previous notice or grace period to pay my debt. It seems that is how they treat their loyal customers.

Not worth it
So when I first started using this app, it was actually good and helped me save money on gas but now it’s just a waste of space on my phone(which I’m about to delete off of it). For whatever reason it does not show stores that support the app. It’ll show any in all Phillip 66/conoco/76 gas stations, but it doesn’t show the ones that actually support being used by the app. And I’ve used the app so far from here to Oklahoma and Kansas and what not.

I had the Fuel “Backward” app for about one year, but it continually gave me problems no matter where I attempted to fuel up. It was not worth the five-cent discount in gas to constantly be dealing with their Technical support team.

Was on a six hour trip home stopped at a flying J that had 76 pumps, saw above the pump. There was an option down the app I did. I guess I had had this app prior, but I know we got the chance anyways I was able to put my gun straight from my phone and it made it a lot easier than having to pick a random amount and still not fill my tank up so overall very finishing up

40 Year Customer Experience
Leaving this review to help anyone else in a similar situation. If you use this app and link a checking account to get a discounted price, Synchrony will eventually delete your Philips 66 account. I had my Phillips 66 card for 40 years, and without any warning Synchrony has closed my card because of inactivity--because I was enticed to use this app to get the direct pay checking account discount. Very disappointed in both Philips 66 and Synchrony. You have lost my business completely moving forward.

The app won’t even open. The customer service line is absolutely horrible & doesn’t try to navigate you to an actual person. I have a gift card to use & ended up wasting someone’s money that gave it to me as a gift. That’s so sad as a million dollar company to practically just steal customer’s money with a faulty app that won’t even open. Wont let you use the gift card any other way but with the app which is insane. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

One Small Thing
I really like this app! I did notice however one small problem. The progress circle never stops but gets hung up. You have to exit the app.
Update: I have been using this fantastic app and I have not seen it “hang up” again. A lady at another Phillips 66 station saw this happen as well. She was teaching me how to use the app on my iPhone. So it was not just me seeing this.
I think it is a great app and I will brag about it.

This app makes it easy to pay at the pump, and a bonus it saves your cards, gives you a fuel discount, and saves all transactions. It also saves your kickback card so no more swiping two cards at the pump! My only complaint is I wish I could pre-pay a certain amount, but it is fine because I usually fill up anywayz

Location not working
I contacted the support number and sent an email with no response from anyone. In the email it was clear that the location is not synced and in the app I have location “always” also, been trying to sign in for Direct Pay option (which is was previously done and working) and now after multiple attempts I have not been successful to sign in to add direct pay, which was removed my the system or probably by the update. I truly love the app but since I have been having this issue and no care from the company is disappointing. Hope they actually fix it!

Rarely works for me
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve been able to successfully use this app for a gas purchase. For a while it would boot me out of the app with no warning. And now, for at least 6-12 months, when I try to log in, it takes me all the way to the point where I enter to phone number to verify my account…and then it doesn’t let me log in because my number is already in use! ON MY OWN ACCOUNT!!!!! I haven’t found any way to reset the app, and reinstalling it or running updates has never worked. This is exceptionally frustrating, especially now that I do rideshare work and can’t benefit from the lower gas prices through using the app.

Rip off at the pump
I was excited to see a local Valero station near me just became a 76 station. I’m a big time fan and consumer of Renewable Diesel. But when I went to the station for my first fill up, on $0.10 Tuesday to get a combined $0.40 off at the pump using the fuel forward app ( $0.10 + $0.30) I was super disappointed to see the app only gave me $0.15 off per gallon. It’s called bait and switch, which is l believe illegal !
Bottom line, I’m done with 76. I’m getting my diesel again from Propel fuels. I’m buying their HPR fuel. That’s High Performance Renewable diesel. I wish it could have worked out differently with 76. ☹️

It is very unacceptable trash like you can’t really get points for paying fuel at a pump or better yet doesn’t tell you how to get rewards. I don’t see what’s the point of getting it! Other fuel brands offers a better reward system better off with Exxon ,chevron,shell, 7/11 which an others I may miss but theses brands gets you good rewards and cents off per gallon too!! Don’t download this fuel foward app them 5stars reviews are fake !!

So I have had this app for a while now it does save you 5cents a gallon. However on the first Tuesday of the month it is supposed to save you 10 cents a gallon but I have tracked gas prices and gas goes up ten cents right before that date so really is it saving you any money if it goes up ten cents on the day you receive 10 cents off?

Dodgers reward
I downloaded the app to get the 2 for 1 Dodgers tickets. It says fill up with at least 8 gallons gas to redeem reward. I did that and got a receipt. Went on the app, clicked redeem and found out you have to pay for the gas on the app. I called to explain what I did and they said to bad. I have to pay on the app. In these situations they should somehow manually enable the reward.

Can’t join without telling them your gender and marital status? Why on earth not???
It was bad enough when it sent me all the way across town to save a few bucks on gas at a station where the prices were WILDLY underreported and turned out to cost a fortune, but when I wondered if I was even a member of their rewards program and decided to check, the sign-up page WOULD NOT let me proceed without telling them if I am a Mr., Mrs., Ms. or Miss. No idea why that matters. In this political climate I see why they don’t offer the option of Mx. considering they’re definitely not the first company to get weird about that, but literally refusing to let me proceed in using their service if I’m a non-binary person or don’t want to tell them my gender and marital status is downright invasive. I’ve now deleted the app and don’t ever plan to sign up again, and I’m actually going to be paying extra to go to non-76 stations from now on despite being broke because it’s disgusting what’s happening to this country and I’m not going to hand my money to a company that’s blatantly making it worse.

Very difficult and unorganized
If I could give this zero stars I would. You can’t get your OnCue points AND your 5 cents per gallon off. Asked several employees inside OnCue how to do it and they didnt know and told me to call the number on the back of the oncue rewards card. When I called, the representative walked me through it. I didn’t get my 5 cents off AND I didn’t get my oncue points. She spoke with her supervisor who said you have to go in to every station to have your card scanned just to be on the safe side. Why on earth do you have an option to link your debit card and pay at the pump then…especially when the main advertisement for the program says “get 5 cents off per gallon????” Horribly unorganized and troublesome app. NOT worth it at all!

About two months ago the App stopped working saying mobile pay not available. I really liked this app because I didn’t have to use my CC at the pump. Hope this gets fixed soon. As for now, I’m going to try some of the other pay at the pump app.

Issue with stations in New Jersey
I was trying to use this app at a Phillips 66 here in New Jersey on Sunday, September 29th 2024. I was hoping to get the $0.20 off per gallon promo for using this app for the first time. Since this gas station is in New Jersey you have to wait for the attendant to become available to pump the gas for you. When I activated the pump with the cards I have on Applepay the app appears to have a timeout issue while waiting for the fuel pump to be used for fueling. As a result the transaction times out and is listed as “complete” with $0.00 charged before the attendant can even get to my car to pump my gas. Trying this again results in too many transaction attempts in 24 hours errors. You guys really need to extend this timeout safety thing or get rid of it altogether. Also since this issue is on a Sunday and customer service is closed there is no one available to help me resolve this issue in a timely fashion. Therefore you guys leave me with no choice, but to give up on the promo. I don’t have any Conocos or Phillips 66 stations in New Castle County Delaware and only have one 76, which is in downtown Wilmington and is way out of the way from where I usually go. I was stopping at this Phillips 66 in NJ since I was visiting friends here in state and I’m currently on the way back home to Delaware. I may be getting a job soon that may keep me from visiting my friends in New Jersey for a while. Is it possible you could at least get some automated robotic answering service on weekends to respond to customer issues that come up during those times? I also sent you this info on a contact us form on the Phillips 66 website.

Due to an error related to the Crowdstrike outage I was double charged for a tank of gas via direct pay. When I asked customer support about the double charge I was told they didn’t see two charges and I would have to dispute it with my bank. I disputed the charge per INSTRUCTIONS from customer service. Later that night I received an email from Fuel Forward telling me I would receive a credit and to not dispute the charges. Today I received an email telling me my app was disabled and that I would have to pay a $35 fee to turn it back on again.
Unless you want double charged for gas and extorted delete this app from your phone!!!!!!!!!

It’s okay but could be better
Can’t combine gift card or kickback with your credit card. I asked the cashier to apply my kickback rewards & use my credit card to cover the rest. Would be nice to use multiple payments in the app since the cashier didn’t fully understand my request.
At the pump it will ask if you want to redeem your kickback but doesn’t apply. Have to go inside to redeem it which sometimes the workers don’t understand your requests.
Plus cashier had an issue with printing up a receipt because it was raining?

Convenient + Efficient
It’s lacking some ux features, but wondering if that may be why it functions so well. I can’t remember a time when it crashed or took forever to load something. It is normally a fast and smooth experience. However today, while I was parked at the last pump of the row, it wouldn’t recognize my location at the station. I tried restarting my phone and the app, etc. But just kept throwing a window alert about finding a closer station. Ended up moving to a different pump in the middle of row. Problem solved easily enough, but still taking a star.

Great when it works
Used the app for a year with no problems. Very quick and easy. Last few months I’ve had nothing but problems. For a while I wasn’t getting the .15 off after it started working again it will not activate the pump. Most days I can’t get the app to open the account activity tab. Luckily I have been able to get it open to pay the bill but it’s stressful each month.

Not a fan of Direct Pay
The $30 charge hit at 2:54am and my direct deposit hit at 4:50am. So that cost me $25 extra…ok my bad. But instead of just re-running it, they actually immediately sent it to collections. Called and they said sorry that was their policy. So I give them two stars for jumping the gun and weak customer service. Just use the PayPal app instead, you still get $.15 off per gallon and can pay however you want.

Downhill fast, seriously frustrating app and card
Got this card for the discount at the pump and for that it is ok but everything is going downhill fast with this one.
It’s backed by Synchrony bank but I have other cards that are and they don’t hold my available credit for up to 2 weeks after making a payment. Yep, this and last month made the payment, often I make more than once a month because i use this for family fuelings in multiple vehicles, the payment goes through both my bank and shows as paid and balance updated on my Phillips 66 card however it somehow triggers a hold on the account which causes the available credit to not update for a 10-14 day cycle. No rep you talk to or chat with can release the hold. It just has to cycle through.
They’ll tell you it’s a payment hold but in fact it is not because that portion of the account is updated and showing no balance due/paid in full. It’s just the credit available that doesn’t update, that take another 7-10 days after the other part updates.
Seriously it does no good to have a revolving account that doesn’t actually revolve!
Also as of the last 2-3 months, most of this summer, or so the app in general is having login issues. More often than not you can’t even get into the account without having to reset the password each time you need to fuel.
For this app I would say the easiest way to use it is to not apply for the card. Just go ahead and enter your debit card into the wallet and use a direct pay route. You’ll still get the discount at the pump but not the hassle for all the rest of it.
I questioned in the beginning this whole account because I absolutely do not care for Synchrony bank products usually, and would not have applied had I known beforehand the backing bank. That said, it was ok for a couple months but now it just keeps getting worse and worse. It seems their app for Phillips 66 is no better plus it has this whole other name you can’t think of to even find it when you need to use it.
Seriously tho ‘Fuel Forward’ implies you’ll be able to fuel.
Don’t count on it for that 😡 or you’ll be very frustrated when you want to fuel quickly and keep going.
More often than not I have to use a more reliable payment source than what’s supposed to be my personal fuel card.

Excellent service
Nick at the Phillips 66 station in Spring Lake NJ was again so helpful and patient with me since I had trouble using the app. I always liked using that station because they were so friendly and then ever since Nick told me about the app and helped me download it. I go there all the time. Great service station great person working there. He should be commended.

Sporadic and unreliable
The app does not work every time. I click pay at pump, then it sometimes works and sometimes cancels transaction or says some other error. Usually resulting in me going through the same steps several times for it to work. Also, since I have switched to using my debit card as proffered payment it sometimes times will say try again in 24hrs forcing me to use the 76 card which I stopped using because the limit is so low it’s a joke.

Too Irritating
I loved this app before when it was just Phillips 66 fuel app. Then it changed over to Fuel Forward. And it logs me out constantly. I have to make sure it’s logged in every single time I want to use it. Many times it decides it doesn’t recognize my password and makes me reset it. Completely over it at this point. The .05$ per gallon is saves me isn’t worth the amount of aggravation it causes me. And that’s saying something as I fuel up my car 2 times a week.

Downgrade from the old My Conoco app
My Conoco worked generally as well as an app of this type could work. In years of use it only glitched out to the point I couldn’t use it to pay and get a discount a couple times. Since being forced to switch to Fuel Forward it’s about 50/50 if the app will work. First, it takes forever to load. I’ve given up and swiped my card, pumped a full tank of gas (and I have a 36 gallon tank) and the app has still not loaded. Then if it does load half the time I get a connection error and can’t use it anyway. My Conoco and the associated discount kept me a loyal Conoco customer for years—I’d drive by other stations to find a Conoco—but if this app doesn’t get better soon I’m going back to looking for Costcos to gas up.

Could not set up Direct Pay
I entered all required information to set up Direct Pay and linked my checking account. There was no issue accessing my account through Plaid, yet I still got a message in the app that said I needed to call customer service for additional verification.
My name, phone number (which I have had for 5 years), and address (where I have lived for over 6 years) are all correct. Customer service than sent me an email saying I would need to upload additional documents.
They wanted a copy of my drivers license, a bank statement and a phone bill. Absolutely ridiculous. I will NOT be sharing any of that information with them. Way too intrusive and absolutely unnecessary given that I had already provided all necessary information to set up the account.

App not working! I can’t use pump! Plz fix this problem
I luv the app cuz it’s connected through my bank and I been going Philips 66 for 1yr now since I found it but I like it more cuz the app it charges me 2-3days some days I don’t have money yet but I need gas asap and I can still get gas cuz the app but today I tried to get gas and I pay at pump like I always do put in pump number it tells me sorry this pump is not active or something I tried another pump tells me sane thing so basically I can’t pay thru the app! I go inside the store and tell the cashier the problem and he’s saying it’s not on there end they don’t control that or something so I guess it’s the developer problem. Well till this problem is fixed I won’t put gas at Phillips 66 cuz that’s just bogus

Rocky transition from old apps
I’ve been using both the Conoco and Phillips 66 apps for several years. They worked great and I have points stored in them. Now, despite all the hype and prep, this app won’t take my credentials from the old apps. I got a message several weeks ago about waiting for the credentials to transfer but I never got a confirmation of that happening before Conoco/Phillips killed the old apps. Result: I’ve been buying gas elsewhere for 2-3 weeks and if I can’t get my discount back I’ll continue to do so.

Apple CarPlay?
I love the idea of this app. It makes it convenient to pay right from your phone without the worry of having someone steal the information from your card at the pump. However why not make the app available on Apple CarPlay as well? This would make it so much more convenient to just purchase fuel right from your dash. I know other fueling station apps have that capability why not this one?

I can always find the cheapest 76 station
I’ve been using the app for over 3 yrs now and love it. Makes it so easy to buy gas and I can look around to see which 76 has the cheapest gas and the get 15¢ more off each gallon. Hopefully it’ll return to 25¢ off again 👍

Can’t remember which gas stations to use this at
On one hand it’s great that they combined three gas stations into one app, but on the other hand there’s no indication in the name of the app nor in the icon itself which gas stations those are. I have 1 million gas apps, and I am never going to remember which gas stations are associated with this app. They really need to put the gas station logos in the icon to make it easier to remember.

Absolutely amazing!
My card would not work inside the store and I was completely out of gas. I sat in the parking lot downloaded this app and was fueled up within seven minutes! That’s how quick I was able to download link my card and pay at the pump.

Well worth the effort of getting my card linked to the app.
I had some difficulty adding my new Phillips 66 credit card to the wallet of the app because I got a new cell number and it took a while on the phone with customer service to get that updated. Regardless, I finally figured out how to determine which stations allow payment with the app. The small green wireless icon below the station name showed up after I selected the station from the list of available ones. I got my 25 cents off of my purchase price, right at the pump, instantly. Well worth the time I spent getting my new cc added to the app.

App needs refined.
To the developers. In the credit card portion of the app, please work out the flow and bugs in the app. Just use it, you can’t miss them. Buttons hidden behind borders, flow is clunky, making payments is a pain. Maybe study the chase app. It’s hands down easier to use.
Using the app to fill up is perfect. Zero issues! I love that part. The account portion needs work though.

Excellence in an App!
Very well written app, extremely convenient functions, stable and well implemented. If you live in an area with Phillips 66 at every corner as I do this is a must have. To top it off, you get a great discount in fuel purchases when you link your bank account, your debit card or your Phillips 66 card.

Not too bad!
At first I thought There needs to be more fuel reward options beyond getting a credit card or linking your bank account. Especially if you cannot even link your bank account because it has to go through plaid so if you’re bank doesn’t work with them you’re screwed. But after pumping my first tank I finally saw the 10¢ off a gallon. It doesn’t say that anywhere so I just assumed you had to link or get the credit card but I’m thankful!

Onboarding New Customer
The onboard process for a new customer is less than ideal. I have been attempting to create an account for 3+ months now and an error persists at the very end of the process with no reason as to why the account creation failed. So not only am I confused about the error and where to go next, I am still left without an account which leads me to exit the app. I am very surprised to see that this error still persists after 3+ months and I still haven’t been notified as to why I am receiving this error. The app isn’t useless but the ability to build personal points up is your biggest marketing message and me not being able to create an account is keeping me from doing that.

I am unable to use pay at the pump. I use my card. I paid off my balance 9 days ago and it is still not showing on my available to use total. I tried to use the chat feature but it does not bring up the area where I am able to chat back.

Please Never Change
I am sincerely grateful that Phillips 66 has allowed customers like myself who love this brand to be rewarded by just using this amazing app. I have saved so much money with just the $0.10/gallon savings—it adds up, trust me!
The only thing I would change is being able to redeem KickBack points via this app and without needing a physical card either.

1st time!
One of the store associates told me about this app one day when I was having issues with my card. I downloaded it and used it for the first time today. You can pay from the app while sitting in your car. It’s very simple and convenient!

Superb
I am a plumbing contractor, this app and it’s savings makes it a no brained. Saves you 15 cents a gallon when using the app and using the Phillips 66 card as payment. I would have given it a 5 star rating but there are quite a few Phillips 66 stations or convenient stores that don’t take this app for making a purchase at the pump. One C- Store had all the advertisements for this app and didn’t take it. That is a real head ache. Corporate should mandate all Phillips 66 stations and etc should take this app. That being said I really love the ap.

Annoying
Wanted a gas card for each of my kids to use. That only works at gas stations. Found this one. Got a ridiculously low credit limit. The app constantly messes up. When I look at transactions and then go out of it to look at something else. I try to look again and it won’t let me. Acts like I need to log back in, but when I hit log in, it says you’re already logged in… very odd. Then I get text messages from synchrony bank saying I’m about $60 close to my credit limit. I look at the balance and there’s $35 on it. I would use a different company but unfortunately this is the only one I know of. Wish they would improve.

Cardinal ticket promotion
Phillips 66 need to provide detailed information on how to use the app so that you may get the cardinal ticket promotion. I have asked three different times for someone at the station to help me. Nobody understands the process. Someone thought they were still handing out theCoupons. I called customer service twice. The last time I called the attendant was rather short with me. And seem to have a hard time understanding that I needed help with this process. So this is the fourth timeMy husband and I have filled up at the station in hopes to get the email so that we can redeem the promotion. We are very frustrated with the level of customer service and support we’ve received. If Phillips 66 and or the Cardinals are not going to make this promotion easy for people to understand it would be better if they didn’t offer it. We can take our business elsewhere. There is a mobile 66 much closer to our house. We purposely come to this Phillips 66 because of the promotion. This is the last time we’re going to try and redeem the promotion. And if it doesn’t work this time we will be calling to cancel our account.

Get used to the process
I have been out of town for a while so my first trip back to the Phillips 66 app I had forgotten my password. When I had reset set the password everything went smooth no more digging out my credit cards and forgetting to get my credits. Stick with it
