Dragon Con is the largest multimedia, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music and film in the known universe! Quick access to ton of info

This app lets me quickly drill down to the information I need to find. It lets me see friends' schedules to help meet up with folks at the Con. There are hundreds of things to do at DragonCon, so it is a vast amount of info to sort through. It does a great job of categorizing and letting me search. My only complaint is that every time I start up the app, it makes me wait while it updates the information that has changed. There is always a lot changing, so I want the updates, but I want to be able to lookup things while the updates occur. Once I am in the app, it has a polite little flag that pops up to tell me there are updates, and I can continue to work until I choose to wait for the updates. I would love for the same feature to run every time I start up the app: just politely tell me that there are updates, then let me do my thing, and then I will let you know when I can wait for the update process to get the latest updates.

If you go to DragonCon you need this!

This was my first time going to DragonCon and setting up my schedule on this app was pretty easy even though the over all app layout is pretty confusing. I mostly looked at the upcoming events and my schedule. I got lost on my first day at the con because the maps to not have North to the top and do not show your current location even after asking for permission to access it. Despite all this it is much better to have this with the notifications of upcoming events.

Good except automatic update 'feature'

App often tries to automatically update seemingly upon opening fairly often. The app programmers sitting in front of a connected office network do not realize how saturated the cellular networks may be at the convention. So updating is extremely difficult during peak times (11AM-8PM). The app should only let the user know an update is available, but not force an update automatically. It just wastes time to try to cancel the download/update just so you can check your personal schedule.

Issues with the app that should be addressed or fixed.

1) Do not set it to automatically update. It is fine to tell me when there is an update available for the schedule or information, but don't start the process automatically. Trying to cancel it can take 20-30 seconds, and when looking for a panel or information you know is already in an app, it is a waste of time.

2) This is not a typical convention with typical hours. The 'midnight to midnight' schedule listing is a huge pain. There are a LOT of official events and parties well until 4AM, so around the midnight time it is a hassle to have to switch to the next day, scroll up, and locate the needed information. The 'day' should be a more realistic 6AM to 6AM display.

3) The entire convention there was an alert message telling me about an update that I had already applied days before. There needs to be a way to delete the read and now unnecessary alert banner.

Good design, poor content

The app-design is pretty nice. The layout was difficult to navigate and searching within the app as a whole isn't possible. If I went to look at a specific day and then searched something within that day, it would automatically broaden the search to all days without warning. This cause some confusion, wasted time, and missed events when we went to events that said the correct time, only to be told it was another day.

Other than that, happy to have this app. Much, MUCH better than the physical schedule they handed out.

I hope no one paid them to build this. Not only is it poorly designed, making it extremely slow, but minor things like portrait to landscape adjustment are childish, if that. Just wow

Customer support is outstanding

I have been using the app every year since it came out. Absolutely love it, but have had problems adding friends. This year I decided to email tech support and was pleasantly surprised when I received a response within ten minutes. Mr. H. Rosenman was very helpful and stayed on top of my problem throughout the process. We emailed back and forth repeatedly and were able to fix my issue within a very short time. Thank you and great job!!

Works well when it opens

Maybe its because i keep trying to open it on the current gen ipod touch. But whenever i try and open it i just get stuck at the updating attendees screen. If it ever gets past that screen it works pretty well...

Can't access 2015 event anymore

When I originally got this app, I was able to view the 2015 schedule of events just fine. Starting today, however, when I log into the app it says that the 2015 section is "coming soon". Dragon Con is this Friday and I haven't planned which events I want to hit up so I hope this can be fixed quickly.

I've used this app every year until now

I wish they had a way to use the app for older phones. I've been to Dragon Con over a decade. I've used the app every year since it's been available. But since I can't afford a new phone, my iTouch can't support the app anymore. What if there are other patrons like me who have older models? You guys should at least have the new schedule to download for the older app. This was my lifeline last year. It helped me when I was there as press. Now, I'm going to do this the old fashion way:

I'll sit on my bed Thursday night and write out my schedule. I feel like this is 2004, my first year, all over again.

This will definitely be something I will report on when I write my Dragon Con review for the year.

Lots of features but crashes

The app has a lot of info, and I love the features like My Schedule and the maps. All these seem to work well. But every time it updates the information, whether it's automatic or when I manually tap the refresh, the app crashes. So I don't know if I'm even getting the updates or not. The app support link isn't useful either. Please fix this.

This app is good wait for updates :)

The application will update before Dragon Con. The final version is fully ready about a week before the con. Please be patient this app is really good, last years app was amazing and really helpful. So please ignore the one star reviews Dragon Con dose to a great job with making sure you have all the right information to have an excellent time.

Can't use my ipad 1

The ios 7.0 requirement means that, for the first year since the app was first released, I can't use it on my gen 1 ipad. This is the device i have Audionote on (for notes in panels) and the huge screen was very helpful in showing people the app maps. Now I have to lug both and swap between them when I didn't used to have to.

I am so sick of companies forcing obsolescence onto a device that works fine. I hope the new version has a bunch of bells and whistles as a result of 7.0, if only to offset the irritation in this (and perhaps other) user.

Great app

Ignore the idiots giving a low rating because the schedule isn't up yet. The schedule doesn't arrive until a week or two before the con, as has always been the case. The app is fantastic and a lifesaver during Dragoncon.

I see the 2015 Dragon Con selection but then there is just a "Coming Soon" button that doesn't do anything. I can't find any way to see the schedule, maps, anything.

Very bad user experience

Was very difficult to figure out what sessions are in a specific building at a specific time. We went to join a session that ended up being full, then had a terrible time trying to find an alternate session.

If you search by a hotel name, you get a randomized list of sessions. The times are all over the place and you have to click each session to get the date.

It'd also be nice if event staff could mark a session as being full so attendees know not to bother.

And it's odd I have to click through a session to see its About info.

Poor User Interface!!!

Seriously? I would think after several years you would have fixed the crappy UI.

When I select an event the first thing I should see is the ABOUT section. I don't want to BOOKMARK something I know nothing about. There is no purpose of the ACTION tab. I don't need to know the room first or what presenters are there. I need to have a clear idea as to what the event is. Also, most people using this app don't need four separate ways to bookmark an event. It would be far easier to have everything on one event page with a down arrow for anyone dumb enough to not know how to scroll down on a smartphone.

HOURS OF OPERATION: why why why are the hours for the vendor halls/art show/etc. not clearly listed on this app? I am here early and had to go search out the information I needed. Not helpful to know every vendor name and where they are located if I don't know what time I can go see them. This is really prohibitive for people wanting to shop and getting there only to realize the vendor hall already closed an hour ago.

Stop telling me I have an event already when I select multiple events during the same time. The MOST AWESOME thing ever would be letting me PRIORITIZE the events, because sometimes a panel is full and I want a backup option already lined up.

The schedule. It functions. I am glad I can turn my phone this year and see it in a wider view. Again, having a way to order the schedule so I can see the event I would most like to see to the right or maybe with a one next to it would be great.

Please make this app easier to use! I had to teach my mom and my sister in law how to use it. That tells me there is too much information and too little usability instruction.

Layout needs work...

Decent app, but why is the "about" for each event on the second page. The first thing you see is the actions. How am I supposed to know if I want to take an action before I read the details of the event. Switch those pages. Or better yet, consolidate them to a single page. There is plenty of room. The way it is now is awkward at best, and gets irritating when you are browsing several events.

Trouble adding friends

I really like the concept behind this app. My biggest issue is that I can't see any of my friends' schedules, and they can't see mine. Occasionally they've also added the friend code I've sent them, and nothing has shown up on my end. One friend is saying I show up twice for them, but they only show up once on my end... Other than that, it would be nice to have a global search.
