Simple, yet challenging game I found to be totally addicting right away.

Thanks for telling me about 'no more single escort' I love the game. Many hours of great enjoyment. I had been looking for an excellent submarine simulation for decades. This is it.

Not since "MicroProse, Silent Service" in the late 1980s have I had so much fun. I got suckered into updating. Now 5 plus destroyers every time. Save me. Deleted update and re installed earlier version, now I am happy

A little simplistic, but it is fun. Once you learn the mechanics it is actually quite a time killer. It puts you right in position to sink ships and can be a challenge.

Love this goto game on my iPad since day one.

Highly addictive. The previous update raised the "IQ" of the escort ships, made their sonar more sensitive and gave them more formidable tactics against an attacking submarine. I don't know what to think of the way in which enemy ships "collide" and bounce off each other and sometimes resultingly spin around but I guess that's because of the huge difficulty of writing a program algorithm to deal with that challenge. I LIKE the challenging results from when enemy ships collide because it forces you to be more watchful of ships surprising you. It's a great simulation and a lot of fun. The rest of this review is what I wrote for previous versions before most recent update.... There aren't very many submarines simulation games around. This is the best one I have happened to experience since my all – time favorite submarine simulation program, which was a DOS (Microsoft operating system before Windows 95). But, alas! I don't remember the name of THAT program.

So crash dive is the best submarine game I have ever played whose name I can remember. The developers of this game PAY ATTENTION to suggestions from their users! Therefore I will make a suggestion: I suggest that they add a protective cover over the switches for decoy launch and torpedo launch. Because on a few occasions I've accidentally brushed too near those buttons and unintentionally launched a decoy or torpedo.

This was an awesome game but when it was recently updated the realism factor is now gone. Boats just spin other boats around and the devs changed how you can hunt and shoot what used to work and was successful is no longer so. It is disappointing that such a great game was cheapened to this level. What I used to play all the time I no longer touch. Don't waste your time!

Don't waste your money.

Very realistic game allowing proper tactics. Don't get too close or your periscope will be spotted. Proper positioning and torpedo attack technique can yield a paralyzing blow to the escort ships. Use the cover of night to close within deck gun range while surfaced and save torpedoes for big, dangerous targets.

Defensive tactics with decoys, tail stinger torpedoes and diving techniques all help you survive.

Complex enough to keep you coming back for more on hard levels, easy enough to make it fun for a beginner. Make sure to read the directions!

Excellent graphics! Best submarine game for iPad and iPhone I've found.

This is a great WWII submarine simulation. It has all the great stuff you love, in a very straightforward package. Periscope view as you hunt, crash dive for the escape, and run slow as you creep away. Damage and repairs as well. Simple missions or longer campaigns. Good ability to change settings, from arcade to simulation. This is the only real game like this at the moment for idevices.

Fun game but a little pricy for what you get. For $6.99 I was expecting more to do. There's not really many options for missions, mostly just sail around and sink as many ships as you can. Also,it'd be nice if you could see the sub instead of just from the sub's perspective. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and lots of maneuvers and things to do for a sub sim game, but could be better. If you love naval games, buy it, but if you're on the fence, may want to search elsewhere.

Every time I see an escort coming the steering is choppy so I always am severely breached with errors can you fix the steering please

I like the game a lot. Must change how the AI acts. As an example, if I dive and hide under a transport ship, the enemy ships should not be able to pass thru a transport ship and drop depth charges.

best WW2 subsim out there....

I have a iPad 2 latest update with its associated key board but it does not respond to any key board commands. The Crash dive up is the latest version.

I found out about this game on subsim website this is what I've been waiting for, I've never played a sub game on a desktop so for me this is top notch the Artificial intelligence is outstanding it's like you're playing a real person thank you great job I love it look forward for more!!!!! This is one of the few games I find myself always coming back to you can play one match or a campaign with refueling and supplies it's very realistic I love this game

This game has huge potential. Suggestions, please change targeting crosshairs to a lighter color during night missions. Include submarine vs submarine battle. Include oxygen gage for long convoy action. In easy mode include max range indicator during submerged/scope down attacks.

This game is very playable and reminds me of the original silent service pc game that I played for hours. Hopefully future updates will include addition map choices. Pacific action would be very fun.

This is the FIRST ipad game that I have not had buyers remorse with! It is great for a quick sub fix on the run or just from the comfort of your own couch. It plays well and is refined and polished...overall an excellent game for those looking for more than just a simple arcade shooter! Fans of Sub sims like silent Hunter 3&4 will be right a home and the different levels of difficulty will keep you challenged and coming back for more! Bottom line ....I love it!

Have had it on my phone For 3 years and still enjoy it! Its great when your under water and trying to hide while they drop depth charges on you and loose them.

I've been playing this game for more than a year. It plays great...very stable...excellent game design and physics. I recommend it!

It's fun, but not perfect. A corvette spinning a battleship like a top is stupid. The top scores in the scoreboard are only possible with maximum ships with maximum points and don't really appear possible.

Pretty decent. Could use some ironing, not fully replaceable, but not "Junk!!!".

The game runs horrible!! The enemy ships crash into each other and every so often, when torpedoed, they spin in circles like they were caught in whirlpool. That even happens to the ships that weren't hit but close by to the hit ship.

Get something else to play. Junk!!!

Love this game but since the update came out the targeting system is broken! I can't even hit a ship when directly behind and in line with it! Please fix now!

I've enjoyed playing this game a lot. It's very reminiscent of Microprose's Silent Service and Silent Service II, which I enjoyed in my late teens, early 20s. If you are a fan on naval warfare games, Crash Dive is definitely worth the price. Waxing nostalgic for the amazing games of my youth... Priceless!

Got a new iPad Pro 9.7 and all if a sudden there's no sound! Even installed, hard booted the iPad and reinstalled app, but still Nino sound even though it's enabled...huh?

This game is really awesome. It is best on an iPad, but I actually usually play it on my iPhone, when I find myself with a few minutes to kill.

Along with Atlantic Fleet, Crash Dive is one of the best submarine/WW2 games on the app store. I would highly recommend it along with Atlantic Fleet

This is a good simulation of sub warfare to a point, and then the constraints of programming show up. A common tactic of subs was to get under the convoy and make the attack runs of the escorts difficult. Not in this game! The escorts can slice right through a transport or another escort like magic! No collisions in this game unless it's an escort ramming a sub. Clean that up and you get 5 stars.

Great game, suggest creating other controllable subs (wolf packs) for larger convoys

Fun to play, looks great. A few caveats, mostly based on realism: 1. Resupply points. What are these floating docks out in the ocean? Yes, I know about Milch Cows. 2. Escorts passing through each other over your head. How do they do that? 3. How do they repair the deck gun at 200 meters down? And how can you shoot torpedoes at that depth?

I really enjoy playing this game. I spent 4 years aboard a diesel electric submarine and submarine games have long been a favorite of mine. This is a well-engineered app and I appreciate many aspects of the game. I do wish I had a few more controls and the ability to target a ship with sonar. That said, it's a lot of fun.

My biggest complaint, so far, is that I have to reboot my iPad after every Challenge mission, because there is no way to exit. Once I *have* re-booted, I find that it has captured my time correctly, so nothing lost - except the time I spend re-booting.

All in all, I was very glad to find this game.

Having served on two subs I really enjoyed Silent Hunter for DOS Windows and 688. Not much was ever available for IOS. That said, this is a great sim. Detailed and well designed. My only request would be to continue all patrols as a career as previous mentioned programs allowed. Again, a great game and very addictive. Good job.

There aren't many submarine good games, and there are even less great ones. Crash Dive IS one of the greatest submarine games ever released. The game developers have managed to incorporate all the crucial elements into this game, from plotting your course on the sea map, to choosing when to resupply (and it very much matters), to engaging an unescorted freighter or engaging the mother-of-all supply ship convoys that's got a ridiculous amount of escort ships and then finally sweating it out as you lay silently beneath the waters, hoping to evade destroyers as they actively tries to sink you with depth charges. These are just some of the ingredients that are rolled up into Crash Dive. I was skeptical at first, raving good reviews, all of them talking about how addicted they've become, or speaking about some unknown factor that kept them coming back for more. They are all true, all of them, I literally can't wait to head out on a search and destroy mission in my u-boat. All the right stuff is in this game, it's all the things I mentioned and something else. Games like this don't come around that often (sadly), but this is the real deal. Well done gentlemen. Been waiting for a good sub sim game for a long time. Hope you put it out for MAC computers as well. Would like to have ability to expand view when opening war mission to see locations of all repair stations in the beginning to help initial strategy.

Great game. One problem is enemy ships can be sunk and in some cases all ships disappear and you end up in empty sea with nothing to do. You then have to dive your you sub implodes in order to end game. Hope developers fix this !

Well, no updates or improvements. Pretty sure the Devs have given up. Crossing my fingers that they haven't.

I so hope Panic Ensues continues to improve and provide updates for Crash Dive. I've kept playing, but it's just rinse & repeat. There is no other submarine game even comparable to this one. That's why I keep hoping. :)

I've been looking for a good submarine game, and this is the best one out there. There are bugs. But I guess the thing I don't like is that there are no "goals": a leveling system or a way to upgrade your sub, etc., would vastly improve the game. For now, you could play forever but there's no sense of accomplishment. And that's important in a game. I really hope the developers keep improving this! There is no submarine game/simulation other than Crash Dive right now, and this could be golden!

Enjoy playing--graphics are very good -----but ---Flower corvettes operating at 34 knots while carrying hundreds of depth charges and miraculously passing through other ships-- I don't think so. Their uncanny ability to proceed directly to your position in open ocean, maintain track and turn the instant that you do is not even attainable with current technology. None the less a great game and very enjoyable!

Love this game. I did however just have to download it again. I didn't see any updates and there seemed to be a glitch when all the sudden the convoy disappears from your screen? Spin around 360 with your periscope and nothing... Then presto, they're right in front of you. Anyway - still a very cool game.

Not your average swerve the bow back and forth game. Makers of Crash Dive, very well done.

I just love this game, and I can't stop playing it! I'd love to see additional technologies, such as radar on the enemy escorts (in Hard and SIM mode), radar detectors on the subs, the schnorkel, the ability to use a type IX (for long range missions to America) or a type XXI. All of these options should be toggle-able in custom campaign mode.

This game (because it is "just enough sim") is amazing. This is what I had hoped - long ago - Silent Hunter Mobile was going to be like. Thank you to the developers of Crash Dive. Well done.

The sim starts out OK but as time goes on it becomes very erratic. Torpedoes are fired at 1,000 meters straight on and they go in the opposite direction. The sim definitely has glitches which become very aggravating.

This game has provided a lot of entertainment. It could be fleshed out more but what is here is way fun.

The cat-and-mouse duet of WWII-era u-boats and their Allied quarry has long appealed to me, and I've been through a number of apps. I'm not satisfied with mindless shoot-em-ups, but I don't want to deal with numerous plotting and navigation issues, either.

I wasn't hoping for much with my iPad Air's limited resources. But wow, this game was a pleasant surprise! Its functionality and level of player involvement are top notch.

Since I got it yesterday, the gameplay has kept me glued to the screen for hours.

An excellent tutorial section gives you a running start in just a few minutes. I couldn't find a typo anywhere — excellent doc!

And while the graphics aren't quite state of the art, they're good enough. Periscope view is so-so but to compensate there's an excellent chart display. Which is in keeping with the tiny amount of time a u-boat captain actually uses the periscope.

The sound effects -- so often overlooked -- are excellent and really add to the claustrophobic mood. (The music is another matter. I turn it off in every game, first thing.)

If your priorities are like mine, go ahead and spring for the price. There are no ads and, while you play, no come-ons to buy more stuff. This is an honorable, straight-up, mind-melting game.

This is by far the best sub game for the iPhone that I've found. It's fast paced, but yet has a simulator feel as well. The graphics and gameplay are excellent! There are a few glitches, but nothing that overwhelms.

Even though this is the best I've found, I think that it can be so much better. The creators of this game are certainly off to a great start, but the missions do become a bit repetitive. It would be great if there was a "Career Mode" that would keep track of your accomplishments. It can be done, and I hope that it will be.

I was a silent hunter addict this is a very cool, very likable comparison. The other reviews are accurate in that this platform will only get better if the developers continue to advance the game in areas of realism.

Areas I would like quick fixes, please reduce the on screen prompts, they steal the game away too quickly especially in the tutorials. There are times I want to savor the scene of a ship sinking and the game, episode ends too soon or a graphic ends the episode.

Also I hope the developers will consider adding a rudder control feature allowing the player to more accurately lock the sub into a exact firing drift on target. The "touch the screen here" feature works but it could be more accurate

Long distance changes...allow the player to command allies subs as in the original silent hunter. Pacific theater mode.

But now I'm just being picky, great game, I look forward to playing it for hours.

First...the game simulation is fun an often times challenging. The latest update messed up the water graphics...they are shiny and cartoonish. I'm sure it's a bug and will be fixed...hopefully soon.

The game itself gets a bit repetitive...same mission just different number of enemies. I would strongly suggest a career mode that tracks your stats and rewards you with promotion and rank or demotions for failed missions.

Great graphics and basic mechanics make this entertaining and fun to play. Hopefully, the developer is working to eliminate surface ships being able to go through (over) each other as if they are invisible. And not allow depth charges to drop directly under the merchant ships. This flaw limits the evasion tactics one would employ in a real situation.

This is the first sub game I've played that even compares to my old PC games....688 attack sub, and others. Just great, a FUN game.

I've played about a day now, and just bumped it to 5 stars....it's NOT a strategy game, as another reviewer said, but a sweet, fun, tactical game...awesome.

I have always loved submarines and have always wanted to play a game where I could captain one. Sadly me computer was to crapy to run silent hunter. When I saw this app I was so happy that I could finally be a sub captain. The gameplay is great and the only complaint I have is that there are no anti submarine planes. All in all, this is a great game!

I enjoy this game and have gotten my money's worth - ie wasted lots of time. The biggest complaint I have is the enemy ships pass right through each other as if the other ships don't exist. A destroyer will go right through a transport chasing you down. If the ships behaved properly I'd give 5 stars.

As a former submariner I think the strategy in this game is challenging and fun. Many different levels to chose from and a limitless supply of missions which are all configured differently in the War Patrol mode. Pass by a convoy if you want, or attack. It's your choice. Very well put together game that provides challenges at every turn.

Game looks impressive. Begin in Easy mode. Begins in summer 1942 in mid-Atlantic. Venture from Lorient to mid-Atlantic.

Computer finds closest convoy & accesses convoy ship count.

No escorts sighted in convoy - Attack.

Swipe the screen for steering followed by tapping compass (located on bottom right to engage). Targets are computer controlled & so fire torpedoes. Usually 1 torp/ship.

Designed to be arcade 1st & simulator 2nd. All the difficult aspects of steering, locating convoys, torpedoe/ship angles are computer controlled. Torpedoes always hit & detonate - no duds.

Silent Hunter game for PC no longer runs on Windows 7 or 8. This is the next best thing. Given the limited resources on iPad/iPhone, this is the best U-boat game out there.

Check your maps, lie in wait, fire your torpedoes, dive, run, use decoys, hope the escorts don't find you, when the coast is clear try to pick off another. Repeat. You will love this game If you like WWII era submarine warfare and tactics. Graphics are nice, gameplay mostly easy and straight forward, easy controls. The biggest 'drawback' is that this is more game than simulator. It really leaves you wanting better SONAR modeling, weapons limitations and advancements, different boats, more advance AI and so on. But as a game based on submarines it is a great little time waster. I hope the authors continue to push it forward to more simulator like features

Same comments as below about this version with an additional. The deck gun isn't ready when the red line goes out on the surface. Takes awhile before it turns green to fire. Also ive noticed that i sometimes spawn a long way away with the convoy moving away from me. I have to surface and run parallel for awhile before I can get an angle. Please fix soon.

The game is awesome truly. But I agree with the some of the others. You can fire a torpedo, dive, engine off and almost undetectable and the enemy still finds you almost instantly. The reaction time is almost instantly. Maybe make a story line? And make the story line up to the 21st Century? Either on this one or a sequel. I would purchase sequels and I am sure everyone else will too.

An outstanding realistic game especially with the limits of mobile devices. Beautiful graphics with changing sky conditions and sinking effects with torpedo wakes, flares and flotsam.

The deck gun sound could be improved from a pop to a boom. A minor comment for a great app.

A fun, 1/2 sim 1/2 game, allows for you to use basic ww2 submarine tactics with just enough realism and just enough game. Has a good interface and learning curve is limited if you have rudimentary knowledge of the technology. Thanks again for the 16x.

Pacific fleet app (the best) and silent hunter app (a bit dated now) are better and great/good, this is somewhat similar. Most of the other sub/warship related apps are pretty lame. This one is pricey and pretty simple/basic. If the the price was less I would have considered it possibly at 4 stars. Hope the saved game bug is now fixed, and that they fixed the constant wind noise.

Crash Dive is simply a lot of fun. If you are interested in submarine simulation games or even if you’ve never played one this is a must buy. The controls are easy enough that they don’t “get in the way” and the enemy AI has a surprising amount of depth to keep the game engaging. It has short, challenge missions that are great for quick pick up games on the go and a longer “war patrol” mode with a great progression system that leaves you feeling like you really are the commander of a U-boat. The developer continues to expand the game by adding new capabilities and features. The graphics are fantastic and it plays well on both iPhone and iPad. Best submarine game available on IOS today and well worth the asking price.

So this submarine simulator is amazing, the graphics are ok, and the system is great, it's a mix of both arcade and real sim. But I have one request or two

• stability: the game can crash very easily, and has lag, and seems unstable, now it says for 5.1 I'd expect it to run smoother, so please fix that, I run an ipod 4 8gb

• More: add new submarines maybe like throughout history new subs come out and you can obtain with maybe like points, and also add an opposing team?

• Pacific expansion pack: now the Atlantic wasn't the only place that had submarine war-fair, please add like some Japanese, American campaign/war patrol.

For now this is ll I have to say, great game, highly recommend it, would gladly pay more if stable and included expansion packs, really good. Thank you

I guess they beat WOTA to the punch. My first sub game was GATO on the IBM PCjr back around 1985. This game gets five stars. I have the following suggestions.

1) make a career path for a U-boat captain

2) improve the water graphics and slow down the moving waves. Random wave patterns would help

3) The periscope is too stagnant. Maybe have it bob slightly with the waves or have water splash on it

4) Adjust the destroyer AI. They are way too smart. I can launch torpedoes and submerge without any engines running or periscope above water. I should be pretty much undetectable. When the torpedoes hit the target the destroyers converge exactly on my location. And they tend to move way too fast.

5) an external camera would be neat

As an old fart who grew up with Silent Service on the Commodore 64, this is the submarine sim I've been searching for since those days. Quick and playable yet detailed enough that one considers angles of attack, time to torpedo impact and evasion tactics, it's addicting on the iPad but not so complicated that you've got to spend days learning the keyboard commands .

What a great game. If you enjoy sub sims on PC, this is a no brainer- just buy it. And if you've had a stressful day, load up a mission on EASY and sink some defenseless cargo ships!

Finally! A solid WWII sub combat game. Enough "simulation" that this U-Boat/submarine enthusiast is satisfied, but "gamey" enough for the casual player.

Suggestion to dev: Bearing readout for binocular/periscope view. Sometimes in the heat of battle, I'd like to know the direction I'm looking in in relation to my bow.

This is a great game, well thought out and implemented! I can't wait to see what the developers do next! The support these guys give is awesome. I had a problem with crashes on my end, and I had a response from a developer in less than 24hrs. Great company!

A Stand Out game that is only 1 or 2 additions away from True Greatness (PLEASE, in the hope that this is actually read, add a SCENARIO EDITOR. PLEASE!). I hardly ever revue games but felt Crash Dive deserving. Again, if looking for a Sub Game/Sim - C.D. is really the only game on the App Store worth mentioning.

This is a awesome tactical submarine simulator as it is with its graphics,gameplay and the feeling of torpedoes ripping through a ships hull.

The real only thing this game needs is a full on customization thing for your own submarine , Campaign, more areas to patrol such as the pacific, and a multiplayer. I highly recommend this game :D ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a GREAT game, very fun. Not a real simulation (as they point out very clearly in the game description), but not an arcade game either - they strike the balance just right as far as I’m concerned. I highly recommend it, its the best sub game out there for iOS, and well worth the money (no IAPs, what you pay for the game is all there is). The graphics are great, the gameplay excellent, and the control are easy and intuitive (and explained well in the tutorial). I'm on an iPad 2, it works very well, and the text is easy to read (this may not be so for iPhones).

There are two things in the game that could be clearer. First, you are stuck in EASY mode until you win a round of War Patrol on EASY, which unlocks MEDIUM (both in War Patrol and Single Mission). Win a round of War Patrol on MEDIUM to unlock HARD. There is a one-time dialog box that tells you this, but the info appears nowhere else and is easy to miss, leaving you stuck in EASY mode if you just play Single Missions.

Secondly, the map is not described in the otherwise excellent tutorial - until you figure out how to interpret the map, it's easy to lose track of your prey and end up wandering around lost with no choice but to terminate the game.

I do hope the developers plan some kind of multiplayer - this would make this excellent game an award-winner.

Get this game, you will no be sorry!

I wanted to like this game because I love the genre, but it ultimately feels unsatisfying. Missions, called "War Patrols", are limited to 30 days (why?) and there is no campaign so you don't really care if you are sunk. You can resupply at sea, which is historical and saves sailing time, but basically all you do is you sail around looking for targets and sometimes it's a long time between battles. Battle are fun, but the convoys never change course, so they're pretty easy to stalk and attack. Escorts are fairly effective when hunting, but pretty easy to kill because they don't zigzag until they sight something. Maybe updates will improve the game eventually ( come on campaign mode!) but for now it has pretty limited replay value for me.

This is hands-down the best submarine sim in the App Store today. It is a solid compromise between a full fledged simulator and an arcade game, with just enough realism while not bogging you down with too much detail.

The graphics and sound are not bleeding edge, but are more than adequate for this type of game and exceeded my expectations. There is no story mode, or colorful campaign, but in my mind that is not what I'm playing this for.

My only complaint is that the combat action feels a bit fast to me, in an unrealistic way. Seeing a destroyer change course to pursue me once spotted and be on top of me in under a minute is a little too quick.

I would still highly recommend this title if you have played and enjoyed titles like Silent Hunter.

After years of hoping for a good sub sim for the iPad, these guys have finally made one. This isn't a full real sim, but it's as close as I've seen so far for mobile devices and really captures the most enjoyable parts of the genre.

The graphics are well above average. Ships fire off flares when they sink. Some capsize. Some just settle below the waves, leaving lifeboats and flotsam in their wake. Sound is well done, with all the expected pings, hull groaning and explosions. The campaign is light, but perfectly serviceable.

As for a lack of story, I personally think that that poster has missed the point. This is a sim, the user makes his own story and, as captain, the user is the only character that matters. I'd personally recommend this app for those who enjoy a good sub swimming experience.

I've been waiting a long time for a sub sim on the App Store, ubisoft refused to update silent hunter and it was unavailable to play on iPhone 5s. This game is a pretty darn good arcade pseudo-subsim. The only thing I would like to see changed, is the ability to see the submarine itself (an outside the sub view). I would like to be able to see the sub dive, travel through the water, and travel on the surface (not that it doesn't travel through the water or in the surface now I would just like to be able to see an outside the sub view). I realize that this would mean significantly upgrading the space this game would require but it is a request not a demand (as if consumers can demand anything). Nice first run guys.
