Poor response to course changes

Having advised Arccos Golf some 3 months ago that my course layout has changed and at that time suggested that they contact my Club to get an update nothing has been done so the app tells me I am playing the 13th for example when I am actually playing the 4th so 15 holes are totally incorrect. Prior to the course changes everything was excellent but now it is disappointing that nothing has been done for nearly 3 months despite follow up emails.

Worst app of all time

This is the worst golf app of all time. It takes all of your information and then it lets you know you have to pay after you just registered your clubs. It won’t even let people under sixteen register. If you want to use a free golf app, I strongly recommend using 18 Birdies.

Wish caddie would run on my iPad

Now that I am using my Apple Watch for shot tracking I wish I could have the app running on my iPad in the cart. This way I could see course layout and distances on a bigger screen. Just allow it to be down loaded to the ipad and run in compatibility mode!!!!!!

Great idea needs some improvement

Overall this is a great concept. The courses are not very accurate or updated. Using the Apple Watch is a bit of a nightmare. My preference is to leave it at home. The phone app doesn’t always detect shots. I have it in the front pocket and have cleaned out the speaker areas. I spend a bit of time trying to add shots and edit what hole I’m on. When the app works right it’s a great tool. I’m sure the answer will be to buy the new smart sensor for my belt. Just updated today so We will see how it improves.

Has Gotten Worse

So, it’s not all bad.
For the better part of a year, everything has worked fairly well. When working well, I still had to add around 5-10 shots per round. The caddie feature is great, and the GPS and analytics are exceptional (GPS is great if your course is properly mapped, more o. That shortly).
Recently my sensors have simply quit recording shots. Instead of adding 5-10 per round, it’s picking up 5-10 per round. Sensor diagnostics show my sensors to be working just fine. Arccos support, who up until recently were very responsive, has no answers and ignored my last email. There are plenty of free GPS apps out there. If the sensors aren’t going to work, then why ha e this product right?
As far as course mapping is concerned, my club has 36 holes. It is mapped 4 times. I pointed out that one of our course had recently been renovated and is significantly different. Arccos is unusable on that course. It’s been a year. Google has new satellite imagery yet Arccos hasn’t fixed my issue. I e sent screen shots, tee placements, a new scorecard, and even linked another GPS that is mapped correctly. Nothing. Crickets. Ignored emails. The course that is mapped correctly is mapped twice... they deleted the one that was right. Nothing. Crickets. Ignored emails.
After the first 6 months of it working everywhere but my renovated course, I convinced a friend to give them a try. It did help my game a lot (when it worked). He hates it. It rarely ever records his shots. He’s one that hates messing with his phone during a round. I don’t particularly mind adding shots as I have my phone handy using the GPS feature. That said, my sensors should work, and they did at one point. I’m really upset that they ha e ignored me. Support works from a computer. The pandemic can’t be their excuse.

Excellent

I bought the sensors as I love a golf toy. I was very excited but then came to be a little nervous after reading some of the negative reviews for the app.
From my initial experience of using the app and sensors, I am so impressed! It is so effective at picking up all the shots, and the level of analysis and functionality that the app provides is amazing. Everyone that I show the screenshots to is impressed and a couple of them went and bought it instantly themselves. Highly recommend, I just hope the performance is maintained long term.

Version 4.0.4

Watch functionality minimal

I loved this the first year I had it. My friends were “green” (pardon the pun) with envy
Second year towards the and of the season saw glitchy problems and rounds suspended. Watch would dump out and I had to rebuild the round following the match.
Now, in my third year, it’s a complete disaster. I am now deleting the app before every round on both the watch and the phone. It still hangs. The watch loses contact and the time appears on the screen. Especially disappointing because it was the single reason I bought an  watch.
I don’t know what the problem is. If they are not updating because they think iOS 14 is gonna fix all this, but I hope not. Please dig in Arccos because you are very close to a simply game changing product.
Now I will say this. I’ve never in my life worked with a better customer service crew. They are helpful and timely. I would give them alone five stars. I feel bad for them because they really don’t have any answers for everyone having these same issues. Software from Apple and Arccos need to step up their game. Big time.

Club Detection Off

Ignore my last post... operator error. The sensor battery in my putter was bad. App did not tell me that... only that I needed to have at least 8 clubs and a putter registered.

App is unusable too

The same problem another user has stated that the app won’t let you start a round until you send in your information to get more free club tags, but then it fails and you can’t go past that screen.
If the app wants to make decisions for you and there is no alternative, then it had better work 100% of the time.
I’m a software engineer and I’d be embarrassed to have something like this app in production.

Lots Could Be Better

I love the concept of my golf app recognizing my clubs and recording the shots I take, however there are a lot of things here that need to improve before I will find Arcos truly useful.
1. The only way this works is to have my phone in my pocket the whole round (I tried having my golf cart within feet of me and it fails to detect the club I’m using nearly every time). Having to pull out my phone on every shot to check distance is not only annoying but time consuming. Maybe when I can finally order the Caddie Link that will alleviate some of this issue?
2. It gives no way to include Penalty, Punch, Pitch, or Chip shots on the course and adds those to whatever club you hit them with, which skews your distance stats. This makes that info nearly useless.
3. The score card is far too simple to offer any real insight into what went right and wrong during a round, as it only records score. Where are the rows for Penalties, Chips/Pitches, Putts...
It does do some things right though:
1. The sensors seem sturdy
2. I like the calculation for wind and elevation added in the distance.
Hopefully they will look into these and I’m sure other issues and fix them. As it stands these sensors and app seem only useful if you are a scratch golfer who always hits the fairway, doesn’t have penalties, never has to hit recovery shots, and always hits their approach shots on the green (so they don’t need to know how many pitches/chips they hit in a round). Unfortunately, those guys do not really need the help this is supposed to provide...:(

Great tool. App needs work

The arc is caddie is great but this app really needs work, especially when it comes to using an Apple Watch with it. I tried to end a round and it forced me to sync the data from my watch. When I did, my entire round’s shots became out of whack. It appeared to add 25+ strokes and messed up each hole. Round and stats completely lost as I’m
Unable to manually go back in and fix my shots. When I try to do so, it thinks I’m adding a shot from miles away. The app needs work and isn’t quite user friendly. It should be more like Golfshot+, which I use in tandem with the arccos caddie. Again, love the product, but the app is kind of a mess.

So Disapponted

I was so excited about the concept behind this app. It worked great the first 5 times i used it, but it was downhill from there. The app just doesn’t work. I worked with the support line, reinstalled the app as well as the things that go on the end of your gold clubs but nothing has worked. It takes for ever to load and then once on the course the app can’t keep track of where I’m at. I play twice a week and it just doesn’t work. I’m giving up.

Best Golf App

I’ve been using this app for 20 rounds now and it is amazing how easy it is to use and how much information it provides. It does take a little bit of time to get used to correcting things on the course but I do it all after every hole and it takes 30 seconds to a minute to correct everything before the next hole. This is easy to do while you wait for someone to take the next shot. But once you get the hang of this it is so cool to see an image of your entire round hole by hole and have all the stats you need including average distance by club. This is definitely worth the money and it’s been a ton of fun.

Great technology too cumbersome to use

This technology is really fabulous and insightful. Unfortunately until there is a better way for this device to detect a shot than having to keep your phone in your left front pocket it’s simply too cumbersome to use on the course. Constantly removing your phone to check yardages and to make sure the shot is detected and put it back in your pocket, especially if you wear a glove on your left hand is just too distracting. I don’t own an Apple Watch which is the only other method of shot detection I’m aware of. If you just leave it in your front pocket and use some other device to figure yardage to the flag it might be useful but then all of the features in the app are useless.

New User

The ability for this app to track and score my round of golf has been great. The best part of the app is receiving caddie advice after you’ve played a few rounds. It knows your game and adjusts for the conditions. I really enjoy arccos and love having the cobra connect grips integrated with my golf game. Thanks for a great product and I look forward to the updates.

Useful for in round gps, but other features not accurate enough

I bought new clubs last year with the arccos sensors so I figured I might as well try this app. The GPS is useful for getting quick distances and the “plays like” distance is reasonably accurate and useful in making quick club selections. That alone might be worth a one time $100 charge- or whatever the subscription price is. The shot detection is bad enough to make the rest of the related features (handicap, scorecard, etc) mostly useless. At the end of 18 holes its any where from 5- 25 shots off and even less accurate hole by hole. It misses at least 25% of shots so when I check the app for a distance I usually have to adjust the hole I’m playing on because it thinks I’m still playing a previous hole. There would be so much manual adjustment and entry to make things accurate it’s just not worth it. I use the watch app for the GPS, but I just use paper cards to keep score. If this app were a one time purchase, it would be worth it, as an annual subscription, it’s not. It still needs a lot of work- also it eats phone and watch battery to the point that even at 100% charge it’s a toss up whether you’ll make it through a round

Is great when it works

The app continues to have problems both in recognizing the clubs and syncing with the watch. One of the reasons I purchased was to use the watch sensor option but that only works until the next Apple update and takes forever for Arccos to update and fix. Switching back to another platform until Arccos can figure out a more stable option

Almost perfect

I’ve used it a couple of times. All my shots tracked perfectly. I really like how it has the “plays like” distance. What I wish it had was easily ready yardages to hazards and bunkers. Played 9 holes after work today. Arccos put every shot on the first hole. They actually sent me a note that something “looked” wrong and I should go through and adjust all the shots manually. OMG really? Imagine how smart the software must be to recognize that there was an error.

I am a new user have played 4 rounds with Arccos, there have been some serious issues with the app that involve a lot of editing on my end. Please email me when there is a shot tracking system that works decently. It is too bad as it could be great with a little bit more effort from the developer. I’ve reset my iPhone and tried restarting the app. It just stars for about 10 seconds and crashes. Watch App poor

I’ve been using this app since my wife bought it for me as a gift years ago. It really helped my game and I enjoyed it. I was really excited when they expanded to having the watch work stand alone and it seemed to work for a while. The last two seasons the watch app has really taken a turn for the worse. Lately I can’t even finish a round without it stopping to track my shots. VERY frustrating. When I called support about the issue it seems they are having issues keeping up with Apple’s updates. As a consumer, I hope they fix it soon. I have begun looking into alternatives but hope they get it fixed sooner rather than later. It really is a good product when it works.

Good in theory

Got a set of sensors with my new driver I got for the holidays. It also came with a free 3 month trial. To get the sensors sent I had to sign up and activate my free 3 month trial. That was at the end of November. I live in Nebraska and was not able to play till the beginning of March when we took a trip to Arizona. So long and short of it, I didn’t get to play any rounds through the free trial.
I do not like how active on the phone you have to be on every shot. There are too many missed shots not to check after each one and then the time it takes to enter missed shot. It took away from the game, the companionship of the people I’m with and the scenery around me.
Played 10 rounds with it and averaged a score of 97. Played my next 10 rounds without the system and went back to my range finder and averaged a score of 91.5.
There is some great information available, but ensuring accurate information takes way too much time and effort.
Chalk this up to paying $10 a round for the 10 rounds to figure this out. Really wish I didn’t have to start the 3 month subscription in the winter. Would have saved me $100. As I said, it’s a good system in theory, just not for me until there is a better technology between the sensors and the phone.

Want to like it

The app can be buggy and the watch can be hard to sync. Generally feel like some rounds it works great and other rounds I’m messing with the app the whole round.
A couple of changes I’d like to see:
Allow you to see your friends rounds on the dashboard. Since I can’t look at the app on my iPad, the only way I can see other people rounds is on my phone. One of the best parts of Arccos is being able to talk about your rounds with your buddies who also have Arccos (getting more common in my league).
Allow you to designate a shot as a recovery shot. I use my 4 and 7 irons to punch out from trouble and those shot are distorting my yardage on those clubs. Also effects wedges since we often use those with less than a full swing. I love my gap wedge for a bump and run around the green.
It’s a good product, just needs some tightening on the app and dashboard.

Used to be great

This app used to be my goto app for all things golf related. It used to be spot on with distances and club tracking. For the last 2 months it has all but fallen apart. Now, shots hardly record. It constantly flashes the message "what hole are you on, we seem to have lost you". It shows incorrect yardage distances.
I've changed all the batteries in the units and unpaired/repaired all. Still no changes. I've become so used to using this app all round that I hate to lose it but as it sits now, it's currently unusable except as a semi accurate range finder. Disappointed and hopefully this gets an update or fix

Always adding putts

Only played a couple of rounds with the arccos system and seems like it doesn’t read the tap in putts. Stand over a 1-2 foot putts and look at the app after leaving the green to see that it wasn’t recognized. A little annoying after a while. The analytics are great for the data nerd like me. Not sure if the club averages are taking the wind into consideration like to get some more rounds without the wind to see real yardage on irons. Update this in a couple of months.

Disappointed by cobra connect

The deal with cobra connect is pretty disappointing. I purchased a new set of cobra irons with cobra connect an arccos powered tracking system. Unfortunately arccos does not allow shot tracking for anything less than 8 clubs and a putter. The set which I believe was advertised as an arccos tracking set is sold as a standard set of 7. Partnering with a brand while not supporting the standard sets which arccos advertises seems like a strange set up.
