Daily challenges don't work.

Daily challenges don't work at all, leaving the same old cities making it get old. Poor value for $5...

Like it but...

Fun game but I find myself frustrated by two things in particular. First, I find it hard to control track building when connecting in new stations, at times inadvertently disconnecting another, or otherwise getting an unintended result. But the worst problem is with bridges, where it's way too easy to accidentally add one (aka waste one) when that wasn't what you intended. And in some cities wasting a bridge can be fatal. (Yes I do zoom in when in tight situations.). Fix these for five stars!

Great BUT please fix endless mode!

I loooove this app and used to get what I thought were pretty good scores in Normal mode. When endless came out I was so excited! I've played every level I can but cannot score 500 to unlock anything to save my life. I got close to 2000 on Normal but can't even break 300 on endless - frustrating...either I'm missing a good strategy or it's a bug? Appreciate your help in advance and keep up the good work!

Simple, satisfying and surprising.

This minimalist little time waster shows that you don't have to have amazing graphics, 87.3 button controllers, or expensive VR headsets to make an engaging game that will keep players coming back.
Honestly, I decided against buying this game repeatedly, until one day when I had some extra jingle in my pocket and said "What the heck?" In hindsight, I wish I had picked this great game up sooner!
So if you're looking for something easy to pick up, but hard to put down, don't pass this title over one more time. Go ahead and pick it up today!
If you are a big puzzle player who likes to be challenged, set it to extreme and bump my rating up to a full 5 stars!

ADDICTED

The game is super addictive once you understand how to play you can't stop. The only thing that I would have to say is that it took me a while to understand how to play. The only reason I tried to understand is because I paid for it, but I'm glad I did. I love it!

Very Entertaining-UPDATED

2nd Update - 7/3/17 - The developer obviously has heart for this game yet the problems I keep encountering seem to indicate it's not going in the right direction. The gist: this is merely a way to spend a few minutes. No skill needed. The better I understand it, the better it gets at throwing passengers at ridiculously random stations in crazy numbers so that I lose earlier. Interchanges aren't registering, passengers are pre-assigned (meaning, if an empty 3 car train approaches a bulging station it will simply pass that station if the AI has already assigned these passengers to another train -> game over) and line connections are way too tricky. Playing in endless mode is just silly. This may be a game for the coder but not for the player. Waste of time and way too unrealistic.
Updated as of 5/16 - I just got a message from the developer addressing my main concern - exponential increase in passenger numbers: "I think we've managed address the issue where the number of passengers increase super rapidly. We found a bug that was causing passenger spawn levels to increase by a huge amount which we have now fixed in the latest update."
Looking forward to playing the game again.
Previous Review Below
The kinds of upgrades the developer pushed thru since I purchased it are eerily similar to other games I used to be excited about: of the demolishing kind. The reason I say this is: the better I get, the more unexpectedly large numbers of "passengers" the AI throws at me. The conditions to play in "extreme" seem to be, except for one city, impossible to meet.

Original review below
While minimetro is definitely an enjoyable game, the few shortcomings that it still has even after having been updated make me hesitant giving it 5 stars. The spirit of each city represented in the game give it appeal. In that light, New York and Paris are disappointedly lacking in execution. Both primarily because the number of bridges/tunnels and other assets awarded simply doesn't match the speed at which passenger traffic increases. Secondly, in terms of NYC, it's like the developers didn't even look at the real subway map. The only train to New Jersey is Path. No subway to the left (West) of Manhattan! Not so in this game where you get plenty of opportunity to develop a network on both sides of Manhattan. If at least these two issues were addressed I'd enjoy spending time with MiniMetro a lot more.

Subterranean Peace

The soothing soundtrack combined with the game mechanics soothe me like no other game I've ever played. That includes mobile games and hundreds of PC and console games from a plethora of genres.
If you have an addictive personality, this game has the ability to replace maladaptive coping skills like no other.
Or, if you're just looking for an inexpensive game to fill your time that will provide a sense of calm, this is the one. Look no further.

Worth the $5.

This is thoroughly addictive. I'm very happy to have paid the $5 upfront to get a good game that's very aesthetically pleasing and comes with great transitions. I tried playing the tutorial at first, but there weren't any instructions so I'm not sure if that was how it was supposed to be or that I haven't updated it. It's not at all hard to grasp how to play, except for deleting a line (which I know has been noted). Hopefully there are more cool games like this by the same developer(s)! Again, the design is sleek and even has accessible features for those with color blindness!

Unwinding as in relaxing, a game that lets you pause at anytime and rearrange the board. Easy to drop into for 5 to 30+ minutes. Controls can be kind of wonky & frustrating when moving and deleting existing tracks. I'd like an undo button.

Great game

I love this game. The design and feel of it is great and I love all the little touches, like how some cities have tunnels and other have bridges. However I wish there was a bit more to do, I'd love a puzzle mode where you have to fix someone else's mess with a limited number of changes and some sort of goal. Or at least something else to make it feel a little less short.

Extremely addictive and fun!

Very puzzling and strategic. The controls are (somewhat) easy to master, and the layout is unique. It is so satisfying when you see an overcrowded station lose all of its customers. Very colorful, with minimal design. Simple when you first start, but as your metro grows, you get many different assets. Recommended to all!

Frustratingly addictive

I started playing this game recently when I discovered it was on sale. At first, I thought it was really relaxing and enjoyable. As the game progresses, it becomes increasingly difficult and frustrating. I have died many times and yet, I go back to see if I can make it farther than before. As much as I love this game, there are times it makes me want to chuck my tablet across the room. So be prepared to be annoyed and irritated if you don't get the hang of it right away. I still love it, I just need to figure out a better strategy to beat all the high scores.

Great Addictive Game

I'm updating my original review after a month of playing and the latest developer update. I've definitely found this game pleasingly addictive :)
After the latest update I've noticed that Osaka is very frequently the daily challenge and this is a bit weird? Maybe a bug? - Developer has responded (thanks!) and I think it may have been a fluke as the normal assorted city challenges have resumed
Other then that some possible areas of improvement:
1. If there's a trick to removing a mid-line station I haven't figured it out. Every once in a while I can pull the line away from a station and remove the station. But more often then not I have to undo a whole chain of stations to get to the one I want to remove.
2. Make it easier in general to select the line you're trying to edit/reconfigure. I find it hard to grab the end of a line especially when a lot of lines are running through the same station.
3. It could be fun to add more special trains like the Osaka Shinkansen to some of the other cities. Not necessarily high speed but maybe other specialities? Other sizes/seat capacities within the same city?
4. Other music options. I do like the zen feeling of the current soundtrack. But it could be fun to have different soundtracks for the different cities.
Looking forward to future updates. :)

Perfect game for the touchscreen

I've had this game on Steam since it came out and have played ~60 hours on the PC version. I picked it up on iOS and it's even better! The control scheme feels really good on touchscreens, though it's probably not super intuitive for new players. I play on an iPhone 5S and an iPad Air and the screen is a little tight on the small iPhone (hard to pause, for example because the speed control are very close to each other, but that's because of my own tiny phone.) It's great on the iPad, though, and I'm sure it would be fine on the 7 or 7+

Love the Endless Mode

The challenge modes are great, too, but since they've added Endless Mode, I play this game more often. Endless is perfect when I want to relax, practice for a tough level, or experiment with the train lines in each city.
I also like that each city offers its own challenges -- converting stations to interchanges, determining the best routes for high-speed trains, strategic placement of a limited number of tunnels and bridges. (I'd pay for more cities and more options.)

Great game, one requested fix

I love this game and would definitely recommend for anyone to play. The only thing I keep noticing is it's a little difficult to clear tracks around each other when trying to redo them. A helpful update might be an easier way to clear existing tracks or even individual color tracks. One way could be to select or click the color on the right to delete that specific track, and maybe even an option to clear the entire board when it gets too chaotic. An undo button may also be helpful for mistakes when tracks get deleted accidentally. Thanks for the great game!

The Addiction is Absolutely Amazing

I've known about this game for quite a while. I originally saw it on Steam for the PC. I always wanted to buy it, but knowing myself I knew I wouldn't play it much on my computer. Then I just saw it on the App Store the other day and picked it up immediately. Just WOW! I've been playing it non stop, to the point where I find myself wanting to pull it out at work and I have to fight off the urge. Worth every penny. Very relaxing to play. Methodically trying to manage the map when you get "Circle Paradise". 10/10 just buy it.

Lovely minimalist game

The game is fun, I like that they don't try and incorporate too much like adding money or people to it. It can take a while to get used to and I wish it were easier to delete a line. It's also a little high in price for how simple the game actually is. $5 for an app better be an amazing/involved app and this one is not. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and addicting and a cute little minimalist game which I love. I like that they don't spell everything out for you and you have to figure out how it works for yourself. The graphics are realistic to actual metro maps and being from Chicago I love that I can plan and manage my own little metro. Although, I wish there was a map for Chicago! Developers, possible update?

Addictive, challenging, fun game!

Simple premise, serve the populace trying to get through public mass transport. You control the #of trains, direction of travel, and length of train line - underserve a station and you're done. Each level (city) has specific issues with limited number of bridges and spread out stations. The trains are smart in that they will only pick up riders meant to travel to specific stations. Ideal game - simple premise, simple graphics, changing levels, and non-violent fun.

Lovely

Really a very good game; with a simple concept and a slow start, I thought I wouldn't enjoy it much, but as the game develops you come up with strategies and patterns for your service. The strategies aren't forced, but instead you discover ways to improve your system. Additionally, the design is amazing. At times the controls can be a little bit confusing, but I find that if i just pause the game before making an edit it's fine. One feature I'd like to see is a more nuanced form of loop routes; I stumbled on the ability to make a loop by accident, and perhaps there is already some way to do this, but I'd like to have a route that runs normally for a portion of the route and then for the terminal it loops around. Some other ideas I've seen in reviews are interesting concepts (ferries, etc.) but I think they might take from the minimalism and simplicity.

Wildly addicting

Pleasantly diverting and deceptively addicting, the game sneaks up on you and then you'll be hooked. The app needs a few tweaks to bring it up to a true 5-stars, but it's still so much fun to play as is. Just buy it, you'll like it. Trust me.
Tips for users: it took me awhile to figure out how to undo a station, at first I would backtrack from the end and erase multiple segments until I got to what I needed to change. Instead you need to grab the line right at that station and kinda swipe around it to unlink the station, it might take a few swipes until you get it right.
Notes for the developers: add ability to move/change interchanges in normal mode. In extreme mode, lines are permanent but you should still have the ability to "bend" them. Also extreme mode needs an "undo" function to erase your most recent move--too many times I end up creating a new line when I really wanted to extend an existing line. We need more cities! Tokyo, Moscow, Beijing, Mexico City, Washington DC, just to name a few. And please create an app for Windows Surface tablets!

Who knew running a railroad could be so much fun?

I picked this game up a few months ago when it was on sale because I was looking for an "original" game, which this definitely is, but I wasn't really sure if I'd like it.
Well guess what-I pretty much abandoned my other games for weeks, and more than once while playing this during my own commute, I've been so engrossed I missed my stop.
I don't know why I'm so hooked; but I am, and totally recommend this to anyone looking for something new.

What a fun game!

Like the new update and really enjoy the game. There are two bugs that I've noticed: 1. Once you go into endless mode, it doesn't give new lines. 2. When moving carriages from one line to another the originating train freezes in place, and the receiving train stays active, but the moved carriage never goes live (this happened when the city was large and system complex). Also, would enjoy if there were two options for endless: happy city and angry city. The current endless is happy city, unserved riders leave the station (would be fun if even more additional lines became available in happy city). Angry city would be like the normal version, but just not end. Ridership would continue to increase, and the riders wouldn't go away, they'd keep flashing and vibrating and demanding service. In both versions it would be more fun if the trains could become substantially longer before the city reaches equilibrium.

This absolutely rocks it is totally worth the $5. Some things might be better though. I love the simple graphics, how you can play it over and over again but I think this could be turned into a new app. Involve money. Make each customer pay a fee based on how long they have to go. Have a store where you can buy locomotives, carriages, tunnels, bridges and interchanges. This would bring a new level of competitiveness to it and make it more challenging. This way you wouldn't have to end the game so fast, but you could keep playing until you feel like stopping. There would be a point where you couldn't expand any further. Make that the end. Love the game, but please make another!

Simple, addictive, hours of enjoyment; some things could be improved, but still great

It's kind of a mesmerizing game.
I keep playing over and over trying to unlock every city's "Extreme Mode", even though I would rather not play the "Extreme" maps. To remedy that, I would suggest more of a variety of scenarios--maybe unlock a new city map or something.
Also, more cities would be awesome--Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Stockholm, Rome, and Istanbul are just some possibilities that come to mind.
Another idea I had, was for unique stops in certain cities. For example, in Paris, one metro stop could be in the shape of the Eiffel Tower. Then, say, across town, maybe at an "airport" station, an Eiffel Tower-shaped dot (a tourist perhaps?) pops up. Just an idea I thought would add more realism.
All suggestions aside, I love this game. I do wish there were more updates, but still 5 Stars. Great job 👍!

I'm Hooked

First, I couldn't believe I actually talked myself into spending $5 for this game especially after the first minute of playing. After the first 5 minutes of playtime, I *almost* asked iTunes for my money back, BUT...I kept playing. I could see that each game was going to be completely unique every time. You might start the Paris metro a hundred times, but each time the stations are somewhere different. I kept finding myself starting anew game. I even woke up thinking about it and how to build a more effective train system.
Long story short, I'm hooked. It's my new favorite game.

Interestingly Fun... Needs a Few Changes

Instead of a station randomly popping up and then becoming overcrowded if we ignore it by not connecting it with a line, the game map should change colors in regions that are densely populated with potential riders. (A light to dark red scale for example.) We should then have the ability to choose where to place stations and then connect them with transit lines. If the game map has too many heavily congested areas, then the game should end... not because ONE station is too crowded but because the entire city has a problem... thus the need for a mass transit system in the first place, right? Also, when adding a new line (from the weekly prizes) we should have to pull it from the left side of the screen, just like how we add a new locomotive, carriage or tunnel. I was trying to extend an existing line but because I had just earned a new line at the end of the previous week, I was forced to create this new line with my first move in the new week... NOT where I wanted it!

Beautiful, elegant, addictive, fun

Like the best mobile games out there, Mini Metro starts with a simple concept, then grows to challenge you and pull you in. The design of this game is brilliant - the minimalist "metro map" graphics are elegance itself, and the interface is easy to learn (except removing lines from stations, which the tutorial doesn't explain and which takes some getting used to. Hint: hold on a line to edit it, and then pause over a station.) The local variations in each city are a nice touch. The game is very absorbing and fun to play, and best of all, no ads or in-app purchases to spoil your fun.

Fantastic Timewaster

A word of warning, this game is highly addictive. A great game for anyone who loves transit maps. Try your hand at designing an efficient transit system in at least a dozen cities. Absolutely great strategy game, love the minimalist art and the various game boards. High replay value, as I haven't noticed any two games progress quite the same way. Also has daily challenges that allow you to see how you stack up against the competition! If you're into pain try Extreme mode, where all of your lines are static and you have to live with all your bad decisions (much as in real life!).
One of the best strategies I've played on mobile, ever. Oh and +1 for Shinkansen in Japan, I love it!

I want to love it...

Well made. I enjoy playing it to a point. The problem is that like so many games that require multitasking, systems analysis, and stately, there comes a point in the play where it is virtually impossible to maintain the game play. A "Creative Mode" could fix this. After the achievements are all reached, allow us to set the parameters so that we can build extensive and complicated systems. I can't seem to break the 2,000 ceiling on most levels and some I can't get past 1,000. There simply aren't enough trains, tracks, etc.
Other than that, this game is great. It has even more potential to be a favorite time waster with just a few more freedoms. Thanks!

Great game but I won't play until next update

Truly great game but I don't plan to play much until a couple of frustrating issues are resolved. And yet I'll give 5 stars based on potential.
1. It is appropriately easy to "bend" a line into a newly appearing station so that there becomes a new stop in the middle of that existing line. Shouldn't it be equally easy to somehow cause a station in the middle of an existing line to be skipped from the middle of that line?
2. When my "bench" contains an unused line (small colored dot) but I am trying to extend an existing line, the interface often wants to start the new (previously unused) line from that spot. When that happens it's essentially game over because now I can't later place the bench line where I need it.

Amazing 10/10

This is now one of my favorite games of all time. The concept is so simple but the way you can do it is challenging. When I start a new game, I am put back to the three stations. It's pretty boring (only because I know how to play) up until week 2. That's when things get interesting. I almost never get a new line because I think that I can get the highest score with only 3 lines. Today, however, I tried getting all the lines and I did pretty well. You don't need internet to play this game ( besides the daily play) so I can play anytime anywhere. Thank you for making this a thing.

WORTH THE MONEY

One of the big struggles on the App Store, to me, is to find a game that is high quality, doesn't require too big of a time commitment, can be played over and over again, and is worth whatever money I spend. This game fills all of these. The simple graphics are amazing and so cute and funny. I love how the font for the game is the same as the one used on actual NYC subways. The strategy of the game is compelling and fun and hard. The time commitment necessary is minimal, and with zero ads I totally think you should get this. One of the best games on the App Store for sure.

After 2 weeks, still playing...

Peaceful soundtrack. The controls took a little bit to figure out, as there are no instructions. Once you get in the groove of the game it's pretty entertaining. Simple concept; keep the commuters happy and get them where they want to go...fast. It gets a bit frustrating as time goes on. The trains can't keep up with the demand and the AI purposely adds new stops in the middle of nowhere to screw you up. All in all, I bought it for 99¢ so I got my money's worth from the game.

Where have you been all my life!?

I found this game a few days ago and have played it as much as humanly possible. Thanks to the holidays that has meant hours each day. It's so much fun and engrossing--as much luck as strategy depending upon which stations you are given at first. My kids play it too (5 and 7) as well as my wife. I'm not a big gamer, but I really took to this game. Mini Metro has great playability and re-playability. Kudos to the developers!

Simple, addicting, beautiful

The basic concept is almost poetically simple: you have stations and passengers that both share a set of shapes, and you must route passengers to their same-shape stations. But it's so much more than just drawing lines. You can upgrade individual tracks and stations with a variety of helpful additions, from extra trains, larger capacity carriages, faster-loading stations, and other location specific bonuses.

Amazing, but...

I've seen other people say the game is too difficult. That's just not true. Sure, the game doesn't hold your hand and tell you how to win, because that wouldn't be fun, either; part of the fun is exploring the controls.
I live in Washington DC and so I'm a little confused as to why there's no DC metro map on here. That being said, I have no issues with the game itself; other strategy games try too hard with all of the in-app purchases and hullabaloo, but this game is just good simple fun. Build a subway system, and see if you can avoid overcrowding.

Needs a lower difficulty

The controls are somewhat difficult but they did the best they could imo. Some deleting and track modification you would expect should be there but I haven't found it yet so if it does exist it isn't very intuitive. Gets boring after you finish all the levels. Don't want to waste time getting good enough scores for extreme mode since that would just be even more better boring. Terrible to think you have to try to get a game mode that's even worse lol. Sandbox mode or customizable mode would be nice rather than having a stupid daily map. Repetitive game and no fun after a few hours is all I have to say about it.

Great game for strategy fans!

The concept is simple, but you quickly realize the underlying complexity and the seemingly endless number of configurations. Using real city centers for the layout of levels makes planning a functional metro even more exciting, and allows you play urban designer. As you progress through the levels, the speed or size of trains varies, adding an extra challenge and mitigating the repetitiveness that seems to detract from other games in the genre. If you like logistics or sandbox-ish games, then give it a try. Now I'm just waiting for them to release new levels so I can keep figuring out new ways to increase efficiency and deal with my mortal enemy - circle stops. All the thumbs up 👍👍

Great replay-able game

I agree with some criticism of the game that some things took time to figure out, but I also really enjoyed figuring that stuff out. Like why would a circle passenger be satisfied going to any circle stop instead of a specific stop? How do you remove a stop? A carriage? How do you unlock levels? Can I speed up time?
It's been nice and sometimes frustrating figuring all that out, and throughout the process the game has stayed an engaging, relaxing way to pass time. I see myself coming back to this game again and again.

Making transport planning addicting

Great addicting app! Just prepared to get sucked in trying to 'beat' the game. Only, you really never can, as it always gets more challenging and adds more stations just as you get traffic flowing smoothly.
Some of the controls on an iPhone 6/6s/7 (with the smaller non-plus-size screen) are clumsy as the screen zooms out automatically to show the entire map. This makes selecting lines, stations, trains, and carriages cumbersome at times. However, you can zoom in to facilitate this.
Overall, a highly recommended app.

Beautiful but not well designed

Update: just tried it on an iPad and found it much easier to control. Not mention for a small phone.
While the app is pleasing to look at, it is incredibly frustrating to actually do anything in it. The controls are so bad that it impossible to select the line that you want or to redirect train cars to a specific station. It's also very hard to understand where passengers want to go. In short, the controls get harder to use the longer you play when it should be the opposite!

Excellent, One of the best apps out there.

It is extremely rare that I actually take the time to review and app and even rarer that it is a good one. But I just had to for this app. I was immediately blown away, and spent a few hours on it the first time I played it. The only complaint I have is the lack of ability to control individual trains. I wish you could tell each train where to stop by clicking on it and bringing up an interface or something. Other than that, it is an amazing game.

Cool game but a little confusing

There's no key for the symbols. Why are there different shapes? What does it mean when there are dots next to the symbols? Before I put a carriage down, what does it do? How do I remove a line? What if I drag the wrong line because I can't see under my thumb? How do I make sure I'm not adding a new line when I want to extend an existing line?
Mini Metro is relaxing and a good time killer. It had a nice, modern look to it. I don't like hand-holding in games, like long tutorials (try Pokémon Shuffle and you'll know what I mean) but I also don't want to be left with so many questions. At least include a key of some kind in a settings screen.

Great game

I'm a sucker for indie games like this. This game had me hooked from the start. I was rather confused at the beginning because of lack of a tutorial, but I figured it out rather quickly. The best way to learn the game is to just play it. You can look up how to play it of course, but I used Reddit to really grasp the concept. Don't be frustrated with not understanding the game, just play it, and if you give it a chance, you'll really see how awesome of a game this is.

Cool Game

I've always had a thing for subway maps so for me, this game is a hit. I like its minimalist design - it stays true to the art of subway map design. It's an interesting take on the concept of 'city-building' type games. It's a simple game to play but it's complex as well. It's tricky to figure out how best to lay your lines and where to put your engines and carriages. Do you take extra tunnels or an extra line? And if you haven't got it right a station overcrowds and your system shuts done.
Great Game!
I do wish there was a sort of 'slow' level. Where it's more about building the subway system and less about moving the most people. Something more chill, where you don't have to worry about station overcrowding.

Poor instructions

Initially impressed with game mechanics. However, very quickly became near impossible to make the game change my lines in the way I desired. Seemingly same finger gestures resulted in different results. Tutorial isn't helpful because the walk through only includes initial placement and not editing or removing lines from stations or cars from lines. No specific tutorials online or in app. Extremely frustrating to troubleshoot what I'm doing wrong. After 20 min of play i'm very unimpressed with the hypothetically intuitive mechanics.

amazing game, love the theme. easy to play, tough to master

My wife and I have been playing Mini Metro for a week straight. We love playing the daily challenges and comparing scores.
Each day is a new challenge. Yes, the cities are similar, but they each offer a unique challenge that keeps us coming back. I love that the bullet trains are only available in the Japanese maps I've played, for example.
The game is really easy to pick up. You draw a line from one station to the next. Each station is a different shape, some triangles, some squares, some circles, and more exotic shapes. Each passenger is going to a specific shape destination. It is difficult to figure out how to balance adding lines, trains, and carriages to keep your passengers happy and the stations from overcrowding.
Love it!
People talk about frustrating controls. There isn't a tutorial beyond "drag your finger from this shape to that shape," but really there's not much more to it than that. If you want to undo a station, that did take me a bit to learn, though. You have to "unwind" from one of the ends to remove a line from a station.
If you play in "Extreme" mode, though, you can't move the trains or lines around, which does make it a lot more difficult to plan your lines.

Fun game

I recommend checking out a couple of the half hour tutorials on 2x speed to help understand the strategy. Game controls could be more fine tuned to be intuitive for touch and it should be even easier to move everything around. I could see why a newbie might get frustrated playing this the first time, it seems like it may have been easier to control in steam with mouse. Prob even better in iPad than iPhone I am using it on

Solid with opportunities for improvement

Overall I like it, and it's very close to an experience I've struggled for a long time to find. Great aesthetic and feel. Soundtrack sets the right atmosphere. Personally I think the interface is ok once you take the time to figure everything out, though a more fleshed out tutorial would be helpful.
I like the gameplay, but it can quickly get hectic for what I'm looking for. I'd like to be able to build a system, watch it work and take the time to optimize it, not see it immediately get overwhelmed and fall apart. Please - bring back the zen mode or something like it and it's 5/5 for me. Right now, I'm not sure the price is right for the single experience you get.

Love to play it

This game is wonderful and I love playing it I have only had it for 2 days now and I love it. I have a suggestion to make the game even better in my opinion, so sometimes a line won't connect to a certain stop and the train won't pick up whoever is going to that stop it doesn't go through so I was thinking that maybe the passengers could get on the train and transfer to different lines to get to their stop. This is just something that I think would add to how great the game already is.🚃

A Frustrating Experience

Having no history with the desktop version of this game, I plunged right in with little understanding of the mechanics or controls. There is (AFAIK) no tutorial, no explanation, and the creators want the experience to be "intuitive."
The problem is, it's not. The rules of the game are obscure, and the controls even more so. It took me awhile to grasp the finer points of concept (maybe I'm just thick) but I still haven't figured out the controls. I still struggle to get the color of the line I want to extend right, and removing connections or tunnels seems possible but not repeatable. Today, I deleted a whole "line" and I have no idea how I did that!
Maybe this is just a function of the limited (compared to PC) controls of the touchscreen, but it can be very frustrating. I want to like this game - it's just the sort of cerebral puzzle game that I generally enjoy. But until the controls are fixed, I can't bear to play.

Not there yet

Mini Metro on iOS has the potential to be a great game. Unfortunately, in version 1.0, it’s not there yet.
THE GOOD
Gorgeous visuals. Satisfying sound effects. Relaxing ambient music. I appreciate the consideration for color blind and night users.
THE BAD
There are some major issues that spring up. It’s mostly the controls. For example, when I want to remove a metro line from a station, it’s an exercise in frustration. I try various gestures that seem intuitive to me, until it finally works (seemingly randomly). Occasionally, when I try to move a line, I move the wrong line. And so on.
The issues with the controls are probably partly a result of my 2nd area of concern: the tutorial. The tutorial isn’t robust. Some functions were not explained at all.
Finally, when I take a snapshot of my map when I lose, the station that lead to my metro’s demise is not emphasized. This makes the snapshot feature almost useless to me. Maybe highlight this station red?
I understand this is only version 1.0, which is why I’m giving 4 stars. It would be great if the next version of Mini Metro has improved controls. I know buried inside the botched controls is great game design. I will await further improvements to decide if I should continue playing.

Just as good as the Steam game, if not better

I own the Steam game and was blown away at the fact that a game about watching a train map could be fun and addicting. I played it almost daily in July, while others were playing Pokémon Go. I played it so much it got scary. I was making the top 10 for daily challenges. My record was 2 hours on normal mode on 1 game.
And then I see this game on the App Store. Without even stopping to think about thinking about it, I purchased the game (I actually got it gifted, but whatever) and I'm enjoying every detail. This game may just be better than the original. You can zoom in, you can cross lines, and change settings in the pause menu, like Minecraft.
I only played for about a half hour now and I am in love with this game already. It is worth every atom of copper of every penny of 5 dollars you will spend on this game. Give these developers a round of applause, get their name in the news, make these people known worldwide. I approve of this message.

Great game! Hope they add even more features!

Pros:
This game is a soothing, simple, incredibly clean, and thought-provoking puzzle game. It is absolutely perfect for a 15 minute commute on the, well, subway and really uses different real-life subway systems that allow for replayability. What is especially cool is how each map has unique challenges (Hong Kong metro has packed stations, Paris super dense) and opportunities (Osaka has the shinkansen, SanFran allows for more bridges). This makes each map have its own flare and actually reflects reality.
Cons:
While the User Interface is absolutely gorgeous and easy to move, the tutorial is not. I guess it's more of a "figure it out" kind of teaching...
While each map has a unique feature, rivers are really the only true wildcard here. The devs should think about more features to add to the maps to make each one more unique (Central Park in NYC, Ferry routes in Auckland, underground pedestrian walkways in between stations, population clusters in São Paulo, etc.). That would make the game even more replayable.
The map choices are initially numerous, but I hope they keep adding more cities. Maybe the devs can also allow for randomized maps..?
Result:
4/5. GREAT game and I highly recommend it! I fully expect more features to be added, and will ANXIOUSLY wait for them!

Elegantly Simple & Addictive

I don't typically write reviews for apps or games, but I felt compelled after playing Mini Metro. I saw it on the App Store front page and was intrigued. After playing on my hour and a half commute home from work, not realizing any time has passed, I can say this game is amazing. I say elegantly simple in the title, but that refers to the design and mechanics. The gameplay progresses to a level of difficulty that truly pushes me to think strategically. I think this game is well worth the purchase.

Incredibly fun

Right off the bat, get this game. It's lots of fun, not complicated at all. The $5 price tag may seem a little high at first but this game is perfect for any long car, plane, or train ride. Or when you're just flat out bored. Mechanics are easy to grasp and the minimalistic style sets a beautiful ambience for the game (the score doesn't hurt either).
My one problem, which is sort of my own fault, is when I try to grab a track sometimes I grab a train or vice versa and on extreme mode this can be VERY annoying (since on extreme mode once a track is set, you can't move it). Again, this may just be because I play it on a phone or that my fingers are too big but either way it's still a great game.
TLDR: A little costly, worth the price. Fun time waster, great score and art style. A hefty amount of replay-able levels for endless fun.

Great idea, terrible controls

It is extremely frustrating to try to zoom in to select the correct train to re-route but then not be able to see the stations you want to re-route to. There is no undo button either. You end up with the computer automatically making stupid redundant routes for you and you lose. Playing with thumbs is not very practical when the cities are spawning so close together. iPhone 5S, $5 wasted. Buy if you plan to play with stylus or have very large screen. Also there is no real tutorial (if you fail to play the game, the tutorial simply ends and you restart the tutorial). This has got to be the dumbest developer I've seen in years.
