Should offer a limited free trail edition.

I have used this keyboard for a few days now; I’m finally getting the hang of it.
It has some great features, yet room for improvement. I really like the one handed keyboard; it is difficult changing the background color of it.
I’ve used this keyboard for about one week; finally being the hang of it.
I hope it will work work IOS 11 when it comes out.

Love the app but...

Love this keyboard so much.
But Sometimes does crash my phone... I wish they could release a lite version that has same swipe and shortcuts type of features but runs faster and uses less memory

Love it

This app has so many features and has virtually endless customizability. If you take the time to get used to it and work with the settings, it's really an amazing keyboard.

Cool but complicated

It's cool but a little too complicated for me. I'll play around with it from time to time probably but I think I'll stick with Swiftkey for now. 💚
So update. I spent a little time typing random stuff and I’m starting to love this keyboard. Lol practice makes perfect guys.

Very confusing 🤔

This app is very Unorganized and confusing. When you swipe or type an message there are all kinds of pop ups. It's so bad you can barely see what letters you are pressing or typing. When you try to turn off all of the fancy crap you get lost in a barraige of confusing settings and choices. This app should be free! I might try the app again if it gets a major over hall.

Very good keyboard. Still crashes sometimes.

This, when it works, is hands down the best keyboard on the iPhone. It suffers from a few issues:
1. Crashes. They’re less frequent in this version but still happen once or twice a day. It’d be great to have a force-restart option in the app.
2. Non-intuitive behavior. If you spell a word wrong and then backspace through it and try again, it is very likely to give you the misspelled version again. Then you have to manually exile or ban the word. (And the difference between these two options is not clear at all.)

Sloth

I tried to spell ‘downhill’ for the title and somehow I got sloth. Even as I type right now I have to tap to spell things because this crap doesnt work. Horrible experience and such a waste of money. Spent ~$5 on this keyboard and even gave it over a year of chances, and despite its potential, this is still a piece ofn$h*t.

Really, I love this app.

I had previously hated this app because I was often unable to use it. It was due to a crashing bug and a graphics bug in which the keyboard would always lie halfway off the screen. None of that anymore. Jormy is a diligent developer-- if you want an innovative piece of software that's under active development and good leadership, you can count on Nintype to deliver it. Besides everything that I have so far said, this app gives you the flexibility and productivity that absolutely EVERYONE can benefit from.
It's definitely true that the learning curve is huge-- but think of it as a small walk uphill for an infinitely spanning smooth ride downhill. It's worth it, and at $4.99, frankly, it's a steal.

Amazing work in progress (update: still amazing!)

Update 04/27/17 STILL been using the keyboard for about two and a half years, still the best investment I ever made for the iPhone. The new update is great in terms of quality of life, my only meager complaint is that I would love to see the new emojis be incorporated into the picker, but this is not by any means a deal breaker of any kind. This keyboard makes typing extremely fluid and simple, and even if I have some technical issues, bugs, autocorrect quirks etc, it is all made up for by the ease of use. Tap typing has become a joke to me.
Update 09/25/15 still in love with this keyboard (been almost a year), even when using it on the iOS 9.0 and 9.1 beta it's works admirably. This update vastly improves stability and responsiveness; I'm mainly looking forward to a revamping of the emoji section to include the newly added ones (and maybe a relabeling/renaming of the categories to be less vague wouldn't hurt). Either way, still 5 stars, keep up the great work and looking forward to the next update!
Update: this update makes the app even better than before, more robust, less buggy, and just as enjoyable as ever to use. Keep up the good work!
I've been using this keyboard for a couple of weeks now, and I can't live without it. Yes, it does take some getting used to, but if you take it slowly it will grow on you. There are some kinks that certainly need to be worked out: autocapitalizing is a little finicky, as with double space punctuation. Occasionally the keyboard will freeze up or disappear altogether, and interestingly enough I can't write this review and use it, because everything disappears. Regardless, when it works it is the best keyboard available, overshadowing any downfalls it might have. As long as this keyboard sees continued development, I will maintain my 5 stars and satisfaction with the seemingly high price point.

Looks like the quality of life fixes were not so minor

They were MAJOR.
This app is working better than ever, and I’m glad to be using it again. I was hesitant to start using it again because it hadn’t been updated in a while but it’s really working quite well, no complaints yet.
In fact I’m really enjoying typing this review while on it right now.

Not recommended

Coz I deleted the app

Not recommended! At all WHY?
You can't write anything that isn't in the dictionary and the problem this app has the poorest dictionary or it doesn't even have
Coz if you where going to talk with someone you have to type only, you can't use it.

fun, fast, but glitchy

update 4/15/2017: downgraded to 1 star. an occasional crash is one thing, but nintype crashes too frequently to overlook. once it crashes, my phone dramatically slows down and heats up. the developer says the crashes are due to an ios bug. while that may be true, there are always multiple ways to solve a problem in code. a viable workaround should be implemented.
original review: I really really like this keyboard, but it just glitches so dang much. what makes it frustrating is the crashes aren't isolated to the keyboard - it routinely causes the app you're in to crash too.
even with all the crashing, it's still my main keyboard. that's how much I like it. if these bugs could be squashed, it'd be five stars without a doubt.

dSix117
Version 1.98
2017-04-04

Still frustrating

Presents the word I actually typed second or third on the selection list when I type one-handed about 1/2 the time. First choice is often some bizarre word presented ahead of something simple.
On iPad, smaller keys appear between the main ones when when you split the keyboard. Makes it almost impossible to type. Developer hasn’t responded to requests about how to turn this off.
On the positive side, Nintype hardly ever crashes with iOS 10. When it does, it recovers without extraordinary measures - just cycle through the keyboards.

Too many crashes

Had this keyboard for years now. By far the best third party keyboard out there. However it crashes multiple times with every use. Come onnn.

Dude, I love your keyboard so so so much. I have left it multiple times to other keyboards that are a lot more stable but always yearn to come back because the typing is so great. I just really really wish it was more reliable. I can't help but wonder if all the settings and everything were not built into the actual keyboard but in the app instead or something it would be more stable? I really appreciate you for making this keyboard and doing it by yourself, but if you can make it not crash and pop up more reliably you would have the unmatched best keyboard in the world. Just food for thought. Thanks again.

really cool but hard to use

This keyboard makes typing seem like a video game. Lights and colors and lines follow your fingers as you type. It is very distrscting asks I end up thinking about my word strategy instead of focussing on what I am actually trying to say.
There are an ungodly number of configuration options and menus and submenus and weird symbols and settings. Its baffleing.
I have been using it for about a week and my accuracy is still really bad. I think I type slower than on the stock keyboard.
This is a fun toy but its almost unusable as an actual keyboard, maybe if you area teenager you’ll text enough to master it and you’ll love it

Awesome once you learn it

This app is great when it works. Makes typing on the iPad quick and fun. I find little glitches here and there depending on what app I’m using, but when it works, which is most of the time, it’s incredibly fast. Master autospace and you’ll probably be able to type faster than with a regular keyboard.

Too distracting even after turning off all the visuals

Not all the visual effects are gone even after you turn off all the effects and trails from the settings and they are very distracting when trying to do serious long form writing.
This is an amazing app, but the keyboard itself would be so much more functional if there’s an option to turn off all the visual effects for a clean writing experience.

Not worth the money!

Sadly the app with the best potential and yet horrible functionality.. Jiat FYI, I had to write this review using a different keyword than the one I paid (way more than many) for! I worked on it a lot to get a good hold of it.. But definitely poor functionality.
The predictive feature on this is very lame.

I’ve been here since it has been released. I brag about it probably twice a week.

I am absolutely in love with this keyboard. It is a little glitchy, but that is because apple wont fix something that is causing the app to freeze.
This app had so many capabilities that I cant live without. You can search for words and replace them as if you were in Word. You can put unique emojis ex. o(≧o≦)o.
My favorite part is that I can type so much faster. With the ability to swipe and tap many times to form one word is absolutely incredible. It is complex and cooky at times. But this is only for the benefit of the user.
Some random features:
-move cursor with space bar
-Save short cuts for texts or other things
-In keyboard calculator
-Slide back from delete button and delete multiple characters. And if you over deleted, slide back from the shift key and you get the deleted characters.
- One handed mode squishes the keyboard to one side of the phone for easier typing
-Autospace typing automatically recognized that you typed a word and puts a space after it.
- and so so much more.
This is the most perfect keyboard that I use. I can type usually 90 or more words per second on a daily basis. I hope you guys like it.

My favorite so far but with major flaws...

I love the keyboard BUT... my phone has freezing issues whenever this keyboard is installed. My screen will freeze and The only workaround is to either hit the lock button and unlock the phone or reboot.
Also the random WWF Goldberg tattoo icon when you push and hold on some screens is random and off putting.

Bad word prediction

· Overly complex to use.
· The documentation is for the alpha version, so it's out of date.
· Word prediction is worse than Word Flow or Swype.
· When it crashes, it will take out the app you were using as well.
· $5 is too much for beta software.
In saying all of the above, this has a lot of potential. However, you can't just jump in and start swiping away. Some people may find the customisation options to their liking, since they are extensive.

Spend more time on swipe function!

Too much time is spent on the overly complex bells and whistles. Swipe app is 100x better at predicting words than this app. I just wish Swipe was as stable as this app. I've taken a handful of screenshots when Nintype has no clue what I'm trying to swipe even though the tracing is spot on.

Complex, but worth it

This keyboard is LOADED with functionality, support, versatility, and fun. I have used it for 2 years, and am still finding little gems. It has one-handed mode, but you can also position and resize the keyboard to your heart's content. You can create custom themes or use one of the included ones. This is the fastest keyboard for me, even if the load time is a little rough the first time. After that, you’re golden. I’ve tried other boards, like gboard, and while that has better one-handed mode, this way is ultimately more comfortable for me.

Hands down the best keyboard

UPDATE 10/7: Still great! ////// I’ve tried soooo many keyboards on the App Store and this one remains my favorite. Not even “favorite”; it changed my whole idea of what a phone keyboard should be like. Going back to other keyboards has me pretty frustrated with how slowly I’m back to typing. There *is* kind of a learning curve with this keyboard but once you’ve got it, it’s irreplaceable AND I’m finding new functions/shortcuts/etc. all the time. The two-finger swiping & tapping combination is mind-blowingly good, gets my words per minute (allegedly) around 90+ (still slower than my 110 on a comp) which is ridic & crazy good on a phone. My friends on fb chat will actually say things like, “There’s no way you typed all that just now on your phone,” and it’s too awesome. Got way used to quick and easy and high accuracy backspacing by use of swiping left on the space bar. Love the split space bar that lets me type words with no spaces without having to add them to my dictionary like mousebear or silly things like that. This keyboard is so powerful and so customizable, it’s hard to go back to anything else. And yes, it can act kind of glitchy sometimes and be a LITTLE slow, but the time I save in other aspects of my texting life, those little moments of time lost are totally worth it in the long run. I really like what the developers have done so far and am really really looking forward to seeing how this keyboard develops in the future. And fyi for anyone still reading: There’s a subreddit for this keyboard, /r/nintype!! And PS this does great at guessing my German swipes versus my English swipes without having to switch modes!

Excellent but crashes constantly

I want to give this five stars cause I just can’t live without the dual finger swiping, plus the effects look fantastic and it’s VERY quick and responsive. Unfortunately it crashes CONSTANTLY, causing the keyboard to be hidden until you can find an app where the iOS keyboard will show up. I don’t think this problem lies entirely on the developer, but it is the source of an incredible amount of frustration. It also produces some insanely wonky predictions sometimes, and I think it would be nice if you could “train” it over time to learn how you swipe certain words. It would also be nice if long pressing the period key presented a comma and a question mark. The absence of force touching to move the cursor also hurts quite a bit and I am constantly somehow opening menus accidentally while swiping. Overall I’d say that in its current state, it’s only worth buying if you absolutely cannot live without dual swipe like me. Otherwise it’s not the most reliable input method I have ever used.

Killer feature removed

I love Nintype. I’m even using it to type this review. But the developer’s ham-fisted way of handling the keyboard’s feature set just makes me crazy.
I love my semitransparent keyboard. Or I did, until the latest update removed transparency without actually saying in the update notes that the feature was going away. How rude!
And the new emoji keyboard is a mess. I suppose its actual function isn’t too bad, probably, but instead of making the emoji bigger and easier to see, they’ve gotten SMALLER!
Mr. Developer, dude, you need a clue. I’m so sorry to have to be the one to break it to you, because Nintype is the most promising keyboard in the App Store.
Please quit screwing it up.
… Dang, and I thought just *maybe* I was going to make it through this whole review without a crash. Go figure.

If only it weren't so bloated.

I've used this keyboard off and on since it first arrived in the app store. Everytime I reinstall it, I cross my fingers that the developer has worked out its issues. Unfortunately, this keyboard is so overbloated that it is guaranteed to fail to launch at the most inopportune time. Even using the "clean" settings with no flashy colors and animations, it still will fail to launch. Please, please, simplify this keyboard and reduce its memory requirement. It doesn't need all the crazy customizations and animations. It's worth is in the ability to tap and swipe in a single word. It's extremely fast and as you use it, it becomes a very natural way of typing on a touch keyboard. No other keyboard out there does this except NINtype. I want so badly for this key board to work but I know from experience it eventually fails to launch.

I give up

After trying to use this keyboard exclusively for 2 weeks, I give up. I don’t understand all the positive reviews. I went from Swiftkey and had high expectations for $5 but this keyboard is a mess. Autocorrect is terrible, and the dictionary lacks so many common words. I’m constantly fixing typos. The settings menu is overly complicated. Out of the box it should work just like Swiftkey, Swype, and every other keyboard. But it doesn’t. I was told on reddit to stick with it and overtime it will learn from me. Well it’s been 2 weeks and the user experience is still pretty bad. It does not work very well with one finger swipe mode and I have to use two fingers or else it fails completely at recognizing words. So fine I’ll use two fingers, but I need autospace on because I don’t want to hit spacebar after every word. The issue is that with autospace on if you manually peck a word that is not in dictionary, it will create spaces. I’m talking about very common words like “mail” become “M Ail” or “M AOL” Even after manually choosing “mail” in the little bird peck window thing, next time it still does the same thing. This is in swipe mode. I know I can manually change to peck mode but I don’t want to. Other keyboards recognize just fine when you switch from swipe to peck and have autospace working properly so why doesn’t nintype? Why does the app fail at recognizing common words like mail? Ugh I give up and going back to Swiftkey. Waste of $5.

Great functionality, but slow to load

First of all, I think this keyboard is great. I downloaded it soon after third-party keyboards were made available, and I still haven’t found another one with comparable functionality.
My main frustration, is that two years later, it is still slow to load and crashes more than I’d expect. This is on an iPhone 6 (64GB) so the device shouldn’t be a problem). My impression is that the app is just bloated and contains more than it ’should’ at the unfortunate cost of being a bit laggy, which is an unfortunate trade-off to make for a utility that shouldn’t add any friction. Without knowing what all is under the hood, it feels like much about the app is about flashiness (3D rendered popup menu transitions), when it would benefit more from simple stability and speed.
My ideal would be a more performant (speedier, and less buggy) Nintype, perhaps with a more minimalist theme!

A Great Keyboard

(Update: Developer shows sincerity in updating Nintype to be the best typing experience possible on a keyboard)
Note: Using iPhone 6+ with keyboard
After using Swiftkey, Swype, and the iPhone 6+ stock keyboard, I find Nintype to be the better keyboard.
Swype is a great keyboard for those that like swiping to type, but you can only use one finger or thumb to swipe the words out. The tap typing experience with Swype leaves more to be desired.
Swiftkey has swiping to type capabilities as well, not as refined as Swype, but it’s still a pleasant experience. Swiftkey also has good tap typing which enables the user to have a balanced experience using taps and a swiping gestures. Like Swype though, Swiftkey only allows you to use one finger or thumb to type out words when using swiping gestures.
The iPhone stock keyboard has the best tap typing experience, but if you like using swiping gestures to type, you’re out of luck, it doesn’t offer swiping gesture typing.
Enter Nintype, a keyboard that fuses swiping and tap typing together in a intuitive way. Unlike Swiftkey and Swype, you can use two thumbs to swipe out a word. Nintype allows you to mix swiping and tap typing in a fluid way that is great and fun.
If you can pat your head and rub your belly at the same time, you’ll be able to use Nintype with no problems. Be patient with learning the nuances of Nintype and you’ll be rewarded with the best typing experience that no other keyboard can offer.

The best keyboard by far - take the time to learn it

This is BY FAR the best keyboard out there. However, you really have to go through the tutorial and learn how to use the keyboard properly. If you are looking for just a replacement for the ios keyboard, this is not it. This is a “whole new experience” with using and learning a keyboard. But, it is well worth it!! It does have a few quirks because of ios support for third party keyboards. But, its not the fault of the developer or the keyboard. Great keyboard and hope the developer keeps updating this!! A good tip that I do is the following: turn off sounds, turn off force touch, and then goto ios settings and make Nintype your “only” keyboard. This improves the experience for this third party keyboard greatly.

Best Keyboard By Far

I’ve used a bunch of the other types of keyboards including Swype and Swiftkey. After using this keyboard for close to a year now, I can easily say this one is far better than both of those. I can type significantly faster on this keyboard by swiping with two hands, probably the closest I’ll ever be to typing as fast as I can type on an actual keyboard. Also, the additional functions built into the keyboard like punctuation shortcuts, backspace, and sliding on the keyboard to scroll through text are so good. All in all this is an excellent keyboard with a significant amount of depth and customizability for those who are interested. Easily the best app I’ve ever paid for. I can’t recommend this enough.

great multi language support

An excellent, option filled keyboard that is accurate, speedy and stable. The much talked about learning curve is a bit daunting at first, but well worth the time.
On my iphone 6, I was able to customize the settings with dozens of super quick shorts cuts, surprizingly reliable automatic language recognition for English, German, and Spanish, and a UI that is minimalistic in design yet filled with punctuation gestures, quick number typing and a calculator.
I can literally type in all 3 languages with out the need to switch keyboards, I just let my fingers fly and let nintype take care of me.
The only complaint I have at the moment is on my ipad 3rd gen. The keyboard does seem to have some stability issues, but I haven't had a lot of time to dig in with it yet.
quick note: lf you are having trouble with the tutorial hold the space bar and scroll up to the "tutorial" button to exit! i was stuck on creating the anyway shortcut for like 20min.

Love this keyboard.

This is the best keyboard out there. I’ve used a number of different ones like Fleksy, Swiftkey, TouchPal, and Swype. None of them compare to Nintype. It is fast, fun, and beautiful. There is only one flaw, and that is it has a steep learning curve. Starting out is confusing, and getting to some of the features is non-intuitive. The tutorial when you first load the keyboard should help you get over the hump though.
Once you’ve learned the basics, typing is fast and easy, there are a few words that I have trouble with, but for the most part even going back to correct these is easy. At this point, I can type fast enough to basically keep up with my thoughts as I write. Making it a great tool for jotting things down as they come up. The best notepad is the one that you have with you, you know?
I think this is by far the best, most sophisticated typing app out there, but that complexity may be off putting for some that just need to peck out a quick note here and there. At this point you’re going to have to invest some time to learn this typing system, but it’s totally worth it. Happy typing all.

One of two apps I’ve ever paid for.

Two hand swipe/tap text. I was really curious to find out if there was anything liken so when I found it, I had to try it. Still the fastest way to type on a phone with and incredible amount of settings builtin the keyboard rather than the app. It’s a little tough web. You first get started, my suggestion would be to turn off the autospace. Also, while it is incredibly well built, it is still a work in progress and can use some improvements in its dictionary and when guessing your words. It does occasionally crash like other third party keyboards and typing between two languages still needs a little work. Nonetheless, lightyears ahead of Swype or other such keyboards. Once you get the app, follow the tutorials, trust the keyboard’s ability to figure out what you’re typing and tap new words into your dictionary often.
P.S. Once again, don’t forget to turn off autospace until you get really comfortable. I just keep it off all the time by choice.

64 wpm! Better than Swype/SwiftKey

Go open a typing test with your PC and keyboard and check your wpm (words per minute). Seem fast?
Open the same typing test on your phone browser. Now try it again. Compare the results. Slow?
Well, my friend, if you had nintype, you could easily type between 60-70 wpm! You cant do this with Swype or Swiftkey. Why? The sheer innovation of this keyboard allows you to type quickly.
Case in point: in Swype/SwiftKey, you have to complete the entire word before it shows what you typed. But we dont type our PC keyboards with one hand; we alternate between both hands. Nintype is a keyboard that lets you type with both hands at the same time!
Example: take the word ‘camp’. Normally you swipe with three strokes, one stroke between each letter. Plus, you have to slide your finger across the entire screen of the phone.
With nintype, you swipe ’ca’ with your left thumb and ’mp’ with your right thumb. Nintype will automatically input ''camp'' and now you just less space and move on to the next word. Think about every single word and imagine how many wasted stroke you have that make your typing slow. Nintype eliminates all that.
Youve read my review this far already so youre obviously interested. May as well stop reading and just get this keyboard!

Great in some ways, ridiculous in others.

Swiping on the spacebar to move the cursor, and on the backspace button to delete *and* undelete multiple characters is worth the price of admission with this keyboard. And I'm finding myself using this more and more over the built-in Apple one (this is my first custom iOS keyboard), because the swiping is more comfortable than tapping each letter.
I must say, however, that the glimmering three dimensional menus are just ridiculous, and get in the way much more than they help. And the confusing options/high learning curve as mentioned in other reviews I think are significantly due to the author's trying to be extra fancy instead of just clear and useful.
(Although I expect that will work itself out in future versions. This has been, not often, but consistently freezing IOS8 Safari on my iPhone 6 Plus.)

1st to worst

Since the update this keyboard has gone from the best on the App Store to the worst. It has become so unreliable that it's become unusable. Sometimes the app will freeze or crash and killing all the apps will not get it to work again, restarting the phone doesn't work, resetting settings will not work, deleting the keyboard and then adding it again does not work. The only solution I found to work when my keyboard disappears on me is to completely delete the app and download it again. This is unacceptable, this used to be the best keyboard I've ever used and now it's the worst I've ever tried. This is the first time I've gone back to iOS stock keyboard since the release of Nintype on the App Store, and it's extremely painful trying to use the stock keyboard for all the typing I do because I've gotten used to the mixture of type and swipe. I will be waiting for the next update before I try this keyboard again.

Wow amazing

I had this app on my wish list for a while waiting for the price to go down a bit. $5 seems steep for a keyboard. HOWEVER, I said to heck with it and took a dive. So worth it. This keyboard is the best out there. Unfortunately it's not on the official suggested apps list and it doesn't come up usually if you search for it. It should be the number one on the App Store because it will revolutionize the way you type. It sounds crazy but it's true. It's a little clunky, and a very heavy app for a keyboard, but with a little tinkering you can trim it down and make it very simple and useful. It's great for the average user and the power user.

What a keyboard should be

Nintype is hands down the best keyboard for iOS. It has every feature imaginable, is utterly customizable, and (once you get used to it) allow you to type blazingly fast. It does have a steep learning curve, but with a little time it becomes second nature. Two-thumb swiping, moving the cursor from the keyboard, easy word corrections from the keyboard, autospace... The list goes on and on about what's great with Nintype. Addmitedly, the keyboard does fail to load properly sometimes, but this is apparently apples fault since all 3rd party keyboards have this same issue. Simply put, once you try this keyboard you can't go back.

Complicated beyond use. Overwhelming

This keyboard has great potential, and I wanna use it, but it's way too complicated for me. I have gotten the keyboard 3 separate times after deleting it because I want to use it. It seems like the best possible keyboard for me: cool animations and great controls that allow you to type easier than tapping or sliding across a keyboard because of the combination of the two. But it's complicated. More complicated than thought possible. I'm not even sure how to run its app properly and the keyboard itself has thousands of shortcuts that overwhelm you within the second of opening ths app. It's really really really overwhelming. You would think shortcuts are beneficial, but in this case it's just tooo much. And then there's too much customization that I don't even understand. If this keyboard was simpliler, it would definitely be worth the money. A tutorial would help I guess, but I wouldn't think it would be possible to cover all the little things I've found within the app and keyboard itself. Thanks for reading and I really hope this keyboard will be made usable in the near future

Great concept... Needs A LOT of work

This keyboard has the potential to be my new daily driver... But right now the infuriating bugs make it almost unusable. You'll definitely be more productive with the stock keyboard for the time being. I look forward to seeing the changes and fixes that future updates bring!
Update: changing rating to four stars. This keyboard still has its quirks and requires quite a bit of additional polish, however it seems to get better after every update from the developer. The main thing that needs to be addressed now is auto-correct, gestures for punctuation (it often seems like the keyboard can't keep up and you're forced to slow down in order to use the gestures), and spacing.

Version 1.7

Needs A LOT of work. A LOT.

It’s beautifully designed, but with a very steep learning curve. If you use more than one language forget this one. The autocorrect in spanish is really not good at all. It has no idea when to use accents, Capitalization, etc etc. more than half to the options that appear in the suggestions are already wrong. How is that possible?
Be prepared to wait a while for the keyboard to come up everytime you want to use it.
My main issue is that it’s so packed with visual elements that it becomes very laggy, so when you type, it will freeze for a bit, and then type it all wrong. Maybe it works better in later generation phones, but not in my 5s
There is a huge issue that is when you press spacebar, if you misspelled a word, it will be saved, This option can be removed in the menu somewhere, but if you make a mistake, prepare to see it pop back up again and again and again. Very frustrating.
I wish they would do less bells and whistles visually and work on developing a better autocorrect and intuitive functionality.
I really tried to like it, but the frustration won.

Great, if it didn't crash or glitch regularly

I took the dive and bought this rather expensive keyboard. I spent enough time to get used to it and I would be using it now if it would let me, but unfortunately it glitches the text entry box away when nintype is selected. This sort of glitching is common with this keyboard and makes it hard to use as your main keyboard. The load time of the keyboard means it's slow to appear when you switch to it.
When the keyboard makes Messages crash regularly, or doesn't show up when you select a text input, it doesn't matter how nice it is to use. I'd give up all the flashy features if it would just work reliably. As it is now, this keyboard is a toy, not something you can use exclusively as your main keyboard.

By far the best keyboard on any mobile OS

I don't ever write reviews but this keyboard deserves one. For a long time I used swype and swift key but those two were not well done on iOS. Nintype made me hesitate with its high price tag but it is so worth it. It is so feature packed and it is the most advanced keyboard I have yet encountered on any mobile os. There is so much customization that I have trouble navigating through the menus trying to figure out what I wanted for awhile. I can currently type faster than quite a few people that I know that type on computer keyboards. It has a steep learning curve but it didn't take me long to learn it. If you don't give up on this keyboard, you would be happier later on. I learned it and now any other keyboard is too slow to type on for me and I do not get bored looking at this keyboard.

I so badly want know how to make it work!

I've spent an hour practicing with this keyboard, and still have no idea how to add an exclamation mark or a question mark. The developer has not seen fit to provide documentation that is any help to me, saying on the homepage "there's more tutorials in here, find them!" It feels like he thinks not directly answering my question is the equivalent of sending me on a fun scavenger hunt to find the information I need. To me that's not fun; I paid $5 for an app I'd like to know how to use. I don't want to scavenger hunt, I just want answers!
Hunting for those answers might work IF he followed normal user interface conventions of iOS...like making on/off switches look like switches, or using icons to indicate menus. But he doesn't. The menus are flying trapezoids. He's also uses wild color scheme's that are disorienting.
I got stuck on the third tutorial, and never could figure out what I'm doing wrong. I can't find any useful help. If you buy this app, be ready to figure it out on your own. It's complicated. I really want to know how to use it, but I'm not sure how I'm going to get there. if somebody can find some online documentation on how to do punctuation marks, I'd be happy for the input!

Best keyboard ever made. Period.

After Update: Still 5 stars. I think that it would be nice if the stock number pad were used when number inputs are required. This is a 5 star keyboard, the best on the market - but the iOS number pad is better in my opinion. The keyboard shines. Left hand mode is a critical feature. Please keep that.
A little free advice to the developer, this keyboard is amazing. It needs a little work from a usability standpoint (menus, options, etc) and I think you ought to refine it a touch and focus what it does. You're trying to do everything when this brilliant keyboard should do the one thing it does masterfully - type. Pair off some of the features and focus on perfecting this app because it's amazing.

Apple needs to fix some maddening custom keyboard iOS bugs!

I switched back to iPhone from WP8 primarily because of iOS finally supporting swipe keyboards. The large 6 Plus was another reason. After buying three different keyboards, I've found a few
identical and very irritating bugs with each one which leads me to believe the bugs are in iOS itself. I'm disappointed Apple has yet to fix them even after issuing several point releases. I've read many of the reviews here, and many of the problems people are running into are the same bugs. I find the Apple ecosystem maddening because nobody seems to blame Apple for these problems, just the ISVs who create the keyboards. If you want an example of one of the common bugs, enable any custom keyboard and go to the create new contact form. Type some text in the First Name field and then click the Backspace key. The cursor bounces to other fields. Switch back to the built in keyboard and it works correctly.

Best Keyboard... EVER!

dudeeeeeeee I love this, this has become my primary keyboard. Not only is it a powerful keyboard alone but it has SO MANY FEATURES, extreme amount of customization you can change the texture of background, color of background, color of the keys, color of the letter text, color of the swipe line, color of the light wear you tap, you can make the keyboard jiggle more or less when you swipe, and so so so so much more that I can not even begin to explain, the user interface is very confusing though and will take ALOT of time to scroll threw every setting, but you can literally change everything with this keyboard i also forgot you can change key position, so you can move the keys all to the right (or left) for one hand typing, you can even have a split keyboard for landscape mode which is very nice for ipad, and also for the iPhone 6 Plus (sense the default keyboard doesn't split on the 6 plus).
Overview: If you are willing to accept that using this keyboard to its full purpose will take some learning and time buy it, it's worth it. But don't expect to be using every feature flawlessly within the first 5 minutes, cause it's not happening.

Best 3rd Party Keyboard on iOS

This keyboard is fantastic. It's not necessarily intuitive in function; the learning curve is pretty steep, but once you get it, you won't be able to imagine using anything else. It's a little pricey, but after using it for a couple hours it becomes obvious that it's worth it. Nintype is the fastest, most feature packed, and most esthetically pleasing keyboard on iOS. Everything you'd want in a mobile keyboard (with the exception of predictive text, which would be a good addition to its formidable arsenal of features) is here. It's well worth the money and once you use it, you won't be able to imagine going back to any other keyboard.

Using the default keyboard is now frustratingly slow

I really enjoy this keyboard and it really is incredible how much faster it is to type with it.
I do have some complaints though.
1. It is a great example of what I believed to be an overly engineered product. For example I don't want my keyboard to have a not taking feature, nor do I want it do have a calculator (now removed in this version). Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
2. I'm not sure if this is because of iOS or the application but iMessage crashes a lot with this keyboard and it rarely works for spotlight searches. It also takes half a second to load each time and the visible lag is kind of painful. Even writing this review, I am ironically using the default keyboard because when nintype opened I couldn't see where I was typing. Again not sure what is causing the actual problem.
3. I wish the error correction was better. When I'm typing as fast as I do with nintype, I make mistakes. The default Apple keyboard is really good at making corrections, I would like nintype to as good or better.
I must end that even with these issues, I rarely use the default keyboard because I really enjoy using nintype and highly recommend it.

from another planet

Buy this keyboard even if you are not sure you need it. Just look at it like a computer game you can play when bored. It’s not easy, but once you get used to it, it is really much faster than the regular keyboard and it gives you a nice feeling of satisfaction that you have mastered it. Also, it deserves to be supported, if only because it looks and feels like something from another planet, the design, the interaction paradigm, is unlike anything I have seen on iOS before. Depending on your taste you may consider it genius or a work of madness, but it’s unlike anything you tried before, it’s cool! That being said, it is slightly buggy, but the developer seems very responsive and I trust that bugs will be sorted out.

Half baked- needs way more refinement

I like the idea but the tutorial needs some serious work. It's something you have to sit and train on and for someone who already types very quickly with the default keyboard it was pretty frustrating.
The keyboard crashed on me about 3 times during the tutorial before I gave up. I'm willing to give it another shot if you
-break the option menus off the keyboard. There's really no reason to have these available all of the time and making them this weird contextual scroll menu is awful. Repurpose the app for settings management and keep the keyboard clean.
- fix bugs. You should put an error reporting framework in your dev version and some unit tests to help you track down and fix issues.
- Refine your tutorial. On one of your examples you show "changes" where someone hits the g with their right thumb- most touch typers type g with their left hand some of us have been doing it that way for 20 years and on a split keyboard on a tablet it just didn't make sense. Tutorial also needs a way to skip steps and needs to be organized to be more incremental and accessible later.
I really wanted this to be the split screen replacement keyboard for my iPad. It's just not there yet. You need at least another 6 months of solid dev time for this to be what I'd consider a production product.

Best iOS keyboard hands down!

This keyboard does have a huge learning curve, and the learning curve will be even larger for those who haven't learned how to use the swiping keyboards.
If you stick with it, you will not be sorry! The combination of pecking and swiping are awesome! It starts to feel as if this is the way we were meant to type of a flat touchscreen device. I can't explain to non-users how easy it is to add punctuation and auto-correct with this keyboard. You will have to see it as you learn how to use it.
I don't understand the complaints about too many options. Why wouldn't you want a lot of options? You can add and tweak the options as you learn. Just stick with the basics for now, and then tweak it as you go.
The NINType website has a link for the keyboards Reddit, so we can all learn all the hidden intricacies of the seemingly endless features for this keyboard.
It's a paid app, but you get what you pay for! Stick with it, and you will be glad that you did because as I already said, this was the way we were meant to type with two fingers on a touch screen device!

Why all the bad reviews? It’s AMAZING!

I haven’t seen a keyboard app this good. Definitely worth the money, and something I will continue to use and not stop using like Swiftly or any of the others. The app is continuously learning new words as you type without you having to go out of your way to add to the apps index. The app supports both “Peckmode” and swiping, and even both of them combined. The keyboard has a huge array of ways to customize the look and effects when swiping and typing. It has a built in calculator and other built in tools. If you misspell any of the past 3 words they scroll along the top of the keyboard with a quick and easy dropdown menu for spell correction depending on what word you meant to type if the auto correction didn’t fully catch the context of your word. The shortcuts for exclamation points, question marks, emoji’s. The simplicity and speed of the quick backspace by either holding down the backspace button or by dragging to the left when you tap on the backspace button (genius really). There are soo many great things with the keyboard and they will keep adding things to update and improve it. It has hardly crashed and I would like a list of what to type for all emoji’s. Overall this keyboard is SUPERB! I love it! And yes, the tutorial is there for a reason. It’s a huge change from a regular keyboard or Apple’s keyboard, but it is astounding! IN LOVE! Download it! Definitely worth the $5 I paid! :D

Keyboard itself is great! Tutorial, app UI, and basically everything else not so much

The keyboard is great, but the app and settings and menu are terrible. Stick with the keyboard even though it's frustrating at first and you will get faster and better. The learning curve is steep though. But stuff like changing themes, changing settings, etc is nearly impossible and it's very clumsy. I think not all of that functionality should be in the mean keyboard, and should be instead in the app. I also think there should not be as many settings. The problem with all the settings being in the keyboard and not the app, is that there is limited space, so everything is abbreviated and I have no idea what they stand for.

Amazing and Extremely Annoying

Though when texting this app is amazing for being able to respond quick and fast if you're able to use it effectively, sometimes those benefits get outweighed by some of the bugs this keyboard has. I've used this app for a few days and have been satisfied with the speed I have been able to text at, but some things like trying to quickly respond to a text notification become hard and frustrating because the keyboard never appears or I start to type and then the quick response just quits on me and I have to go to the message app and restart the text all over again. I don't know if this is the app's fault but it's annoying all the same. Sometimes just trying to use the keyboard on an app will crash it. I recommend this app only to those people who text a lot and have good coordination because if you don't this app is going to seem like a waste of $5. But at least for me I'm satisfied enough with this app that I can say it was worth the money.

Amazing Keyboard App

This is a great keyboard app! Probably the best third-party keyboard for IOS. It includes a remarkably wide range of unique features, such as quickpaste (for shortcuts), customizable keyboard layouts (with sizing), and synchronized swipe and tap input. All features are given customization presets and tools to configure every single aspect of the app, including themes and appearance. As if that weren't enough, a notepad and calculator are also integrated as well. You might say it's almost too much, and to some, considering the learning curve, it might be. However, it works beautifully right out of the box, and it's actually a lot of fun discovering all the features and tweaks it has to offer. Five dollars might seem expensive for a keyboard app, but in this case, It's safe to say you are getting your money's worth and then some. Nintype is the most innovative third party keyboard to come along yet.

Perfect? No. But amazing

I would have never guessed that I could type this fast on a touch screen. Simply amazed. Still there are some caveats. There's a steep learning curve, steeper than I've ever experienced. And like other swipe keyboards, results of what you type can seem unexpected at times. Lots of typos. Although those will decrease over time as you get used to how it "thinks". Small features are PACKED in this keyboard which can seem overwhelming. The UI is also complex and not quite polished (though better than in previous versions). Don't get this app if you don't want to put work into learning something new. If you're craving an app to increase your typing speed definitely try this out!

GOAT

First let me say thank you and props to the developers who made this app. It’s just about perfect there are few glitches but that’s a problem with iOS 8 being new to third party keyboards, and not the app. If your a power user who wants to get everything out of your phone but it now, you’ll love it. With all the shortcuts and everything you can drastically improve your typing speed. However, if you’re just a casual user at the price of 5 dollars and a steep learning curve you might just be better off getting SwiftKey or using the stock keyboard. That being said this is hands down the best keyboard you can get.
The best comparison for this keyboard is vim in the sense that it’s just that much faster once you master it. If you don’t know what vim is just ignore this comment. If you know what vim is and you haven’t bought this app yet I’m questioning your sanity.

ADVANCED USERS ONLY

This keyboard is designed for fast but advanced typing. The people writing reviews saying the keyboard and tutorial are too confusing are simply lacking the coordination needed to use this keyboard. I've been using it for the past half hour, texting and using social media, and it is absolutely amazing. The shortcuts and all customization features available in it are truly remarkable. In the tutorial I struggled to complete some of the more advanced words because of their complexity but within ten minutes of practicing it I nearly have it mastered. If you are an avid typer looking for a faster method of typing then this is the perfect app for you. But if you are struggling with the standard keyboard as it is I do not recommend this app.
Side note: I can't seem to get it to function on my first generation iPad mini. So if what ever is causing that to not work to be sorted out would be greatly appreciated.
Another Side note: If you do end up having problems with the app, that simply means you aren't ready for it. Nothing is wrong with the Application. Maybe some more practice will get you there before writing a hateful review.

the first indispensable 3rd party keyboard

This is the first 3rd party keyboard that has been able to replace the standard iOS keyboard for me. I have tried several others and they always had some issue that ended with me uninstalling. I also could never get used to the swipe type interfaces and found that they slowed me down at times… until now. You can confidently use the normal tap and eventually you’ll get accustomed to a mix of taping and swiping with both thumbs (or just one if you need to go 1 handed). Now, after less than a week using it, I’m typing twice as fast as I was before on my iPhone.
On top of that I’m just starting to understand the many advanced features and gestures and adding them in here and there.
The only issue I have with NINtype, is that it lacks interface / user experience design polish, and suffers somewhat from having too many (sometimes confusing or duplicative) features. This coupled with the fact there there is no real documentation. For this reason, it may be initially overwhelming for the average user.

Shows potential and smart ideas but waiting for updates.

This is a keyboard with a learning curve and I feel I've not been able to master it after two separate attempts with the tutorial. I will wait for an update to the app and give it another try though because the keyboard shows promise. There are a number of good ideas being attempted here.
What are those ideas? The first will not be an obvious benefit into you actually try it. This keyboard lets you move the cursor in your text by dragging left and right on the space key. This feature is a huge win for usability of the iOS keyboard.
The other promising feature is being able to use a combination of swiping and tapping to compose words. In the keyboards I've used, you do one or the other when typing a single word. Where this feature seems most needed is on large screen devices. This is the only keyboard I've tried that attempts this feat.
Unfortunately, the text predictions of this keyboard don't seem to work for me. I end up with more typos than other keyboards so these innovative features are overshadowed by the resulting typos in my text.
I'm not giving up on this app yet, but I'm going to give it some additional time to mature before I make another attempt at mastering it. It does show promise though.

Potential, but flawed.

Ok. I've finally had to retire he keyboard. In addition to the complaints below, it's ultimately become extremely inefficient. It's so fast when t works. But there is inevitably that word that it hangs up on and you spend far more time trying to fix than the increase you gained. For some this will probably be great. For me... Those 30 seconds fixing a single word are a deal breaker.
Unfortunately the keyboard crashed 4 times during the tutorial and that was supremely frustrating to have to restart and keep redoing the whole thing. I almost uninstalled. Happily the fifth time was the charm.
It's still buggy in use. The lcd effect will not go away for me, regardless of how many times I toggle it. There are other bugs as well, hopefully they get wiped out soon. (Numerous crashes in use.) this on an iPhone 6 Plus.

Took 30 min to get past the tutorial!

Typing should not be this difficult. I originally gave 2 stars thinking I needed to give it more time. But after I FINALLY got through the tutorial, I realized this was a waste of money. I should not have to spend 30 minutes on a tutorial to use an app I just paid for. There is no way to just use the app, you are forced to go through the awful tutorial. And don't leave the mandatory tutorial or guess what? You have to start the painful thing over again! I am literally so stressed out over this! The only reason I wanted to finish is because this app just stole $5 from me and I felt that was the only way I could get anything out of it. It trys to be cute and funny with the tutorial. I can assure you that it is not cute not funny. It annoying! And to top it all off, I cannot even use their crappy keyboard to write a review here because it's buggy as hell and won't work! Don't even think about emailing anyone for support, because you can't! They send you to a sub reddit! You charge me $5 can cant even give me an email to tell you how crappy your app is or to get support? You would rather I post my comments online? Ok, I will gladly do that. Clearly, this app is not ready for prime time and it was rushed to development to steal people's money. Don't be an idiot like me and waste your money!

Best app purchase I've made in a long time!

This is a great keyboard and well worth the money. This takes some time to get used to. And the amazing dev will work with you with any problems you have and he greatly appreciates the feedback to make his keyboard better. It offers many combinations to customize your keyboard and completely remove the flashiness that is default that some people don't like. The functionality with all the gestures and the use of the spacebar to quickly choose your place in the sentence takes away the need for that annoying tap and hold bubble magnifier. Thanks for making such a great app. Keep it up.

4+ stars

I had longed for swipe gestures after an ill fated three day ownership experience with "the other OS" phone. Now I have it. I have tried the other two big names offering swipe typing. I was undecided on which I liked better. I did find myself intuitively trying to hybrid type. Along came NINType. It allows me the freedom the others were missing. While not perfect, for me it is hands down better and faster. The predictive word suggestions are great as is the auto correct. I know a lot of people complain about pricing and want something for free. There are a lot of factors that drive pricing, but not all of which are the fault of the devs. $4.99 may seem high to you, but you would spend more than that on in-app purchase for themes on other offerings. Plus devs are handcuffed on offering trials now. Give it an honest try it and you won't be disappointed.

Awesome!

I love everything about this keyboard and its customization options are a great addition for anyone that wants to take full control of their keyboard experience. It does take some time to get used, but soon after its a breeze to do. All options can be changed from re sizing to color options and special effects. Im so glad this was able to come to full third party support as this was the only keyboard that I was looking forward to. Not to mention my favorite part is the word counter on the bottom of the screen! As well as the Dev's support on all options! Soon, you be able to fly on the virtual keyboard too!

Awesome, can't wait for Apple to fix iOS 8 keyboards

By far the best keyboard I've used with tons of features and customization. That said the iOS 8 keyboard implementation is still buggy at times making 3rd party keyboards unreliable in day to day use.
There are some remarks from users about it having a confusing UI and or too much animation but all of that is configurable. In the same breath the user complains there are too many configuration options... You cannot fault the developer for attempting to cater to a large audience and then giving you the tools to make the experience your own. Anything new is confusing the first time you use it and your lack of appreciation for this simple fact is why you're having issues. Anyone with a modicum of patience will have no problem with this keyboard and enjoy the customization options, treat it like the first time you've used a smartphone keyboard and you'll be happy.

Fluid and fast, and a great developer.

This is the first swipe keyboard that I’ve actually enjoyed using. Nintype’s swipe typing feels fluid and natural – way better than Swype and SwiftKey’s versions. Its true value lies in the way you can combine swiping with peck typing and use both hands. It feels great having this kind of flexibility and it feels like the keyboard adapts to the way you swipe and type, rather than you having to conform to the keyboard.
It also has way more options and features than any other keyboard I’ve tried! I particularly like the ability to move the cursor by swiping on the space bar, and the way you can delete characters by swiping back on the delete key. I don’t fully understand the way shortcut system works, since it’s a bit complex, but I have a feeling I will.
Finally, the developer is awesome and really listens to his users. I haven’t had to ask him for support, but he’s active on Reddit and is very receptive to feature suggestions and bug reports. Based on his reputation I feel confident he’ll keep improving this keyboard going forward.
I do wish that there was a way to import examples of my writing style, like SwiftKey – that keyboard feels more accurate with its suggestions. Then again, I’d expect it to, since I gave it access to all my email.

Worst UI imaginable, but great potential

The UI in this application makes my brain hurt. It makes absolutely no sense. I think the developers went way too far with the color and animations all over the place.
Almost nothing in this keyboard is what it seems. All the touchable targets in menus and word correction drop-downs move underneath your fingers, making it nearly impossible to make efficient corrections.
The color graphics do look wild but actually get in the way most of the time when you get a word wrong. The animations and colors are frivolous and don't actually communicate anything useful, and confuse and clutter the keyboard.
Way way way too many customization options. It's seriously overwhelming and most of the options are so vague I can't even tell what they do.
No integrated help menu, which is terrible considering how deeply complex this keyboard is. There are dozens of menus and layers to navigate through and it is not intuitive at all.
Too many random meaningless icons and pop-ups. I have no idea what half of the icons are supposed to indicate.
2 stars for potential. Just cut the clutter and make the touchable targets STATIC. This is a touch screen, don't force my finger to be a cursor for your UI.
On the plus side, I do like what you've done with swiping the space bar for cursor movement and deletion.

I just write for 5-star apps

This is hands down programming design genius. Yes I was thinking work I use all of HipJot and said maybe... But then ignore half the other apps on my iPhone haha. Because i am integrated that way already. So...this typer swiper is killer and yes I would think a correct nexus to showcase the developer. WOW and WOW again. I have to say I can't think of other apps that are this slick in the various areas I use apps for businesses. Sure a scanner. Sure a expense tracker. But a magical keyboard?!? Brilliant from top to bottom in execution. Tweaks improve everything but this is already tops right out if the box. Light years ahead of what everyone else is fooling around with. Plus the options on keyboard layout AND sizing?!? Yowza!!! Apple is so lucky others make up for them when they get stuck in their ways. Smiles. I would expect apple should call this developer like tomorrow! Before Google does.
