Could be good but it's awful
This app could be really good but is terrible due to constantly being hijacked to App Store over and over when I'm trying to listen and use this app. It's almost unusable due to this.

Terrible
I'm not a complainer, but this is the worst app I've ever had, out of 200. I always want 680, but the app usually opens with either 1050 or The Audible podcast. Switching back to 680 takes several steps, and it will often slip back to the podcast. Video ads, which chew up my data, cause further annoyance. Re-installing the app didn't help. The old version, which had fewer ads, worked just fine. This is garbage.

It's Working Great Again!
Review Update: As recommended in someone else's review, I deleted the app, restarted my phone and reinstalled the app.
It's now working perfectly, with hardly any commercial breaks.

The podcast download button doesn't work at all now! What's that about? And the download button is so small, you need tiny fingers to touch it.
Cell signal is bad in my neighborhood, so I depend on downloading podcasts to listen while I walk the dog.
And the constant commercials are back!
Come on!!!!

Worst App on myiPhone
Just upgraded my phone and downloaded the current KNBR app. Simply horrible. I'm defaulted to podcasts when it opens up. Have at least three selections to make before launching the live radio feed. Just let me login and hear the radio broadcast, please. Make everything else secondary.
OK, been using the app for several weeks now. It's truly awful. It should land the user on the current broadcast page once loaded. If the user wants to listen to recorded podcasts, the bottom nab should take them to those archives. You're trying to do too much on the landing screen. Think about your morning and afternoon commute users. We can't press and scroll a bunch of buttons to get to the live broadcast. And your popup ads are NOT appreciated!!! What am I supposed to do with these while driving 50 mph in traffic?
Update. Still the worst app on any connected device I own. But since the update it crashes every time it loads. No one at Cumulous or KNBR seems to care how terrible the streaming app for the best sports radio station in the country is. Terrible administration.

FINALLY got it to work!
Deleted the app and then downloaded it again from the cloud. That seemed to do the trick. Just in time for the midnight replay! Never been the most reliable app even in the best of times.

The app was crashing. So I deleted and re-installed it, just to find all of the archived, regular programming podcasts had disappeared. Great programming; terrible app upgrade.

Please remove the ad for "convicted" podcast!
The latest update now includes a new ad before playing any podcast. This is already annoying, you didn't have ads starting every podcast up until now. But it's made a million times worse because it's an ad for a new podcast about CONVICTED MURDERERS! now every time I want to hear a podcast about the Warriors or Giants, I have to hear about a dad who killed his daughter over and over again. Very classless move to promote this podcast. Makes me sick to my stomach. I've learned to live with the incessant hops over to the app store to promote silly phone games, but this is going to make me quit KNBR. I can only listen to that ad so many times...

Love content but too many ads and crashes
I've had for a few years. Now that I live in Australia it's great to stay connected to SF and the Giants. But too many ad pop ups, launches to App Store, and crashes repeatedly. Also have ads at beginning and ending of podcasts in addition to the pop ups.

Not worth it
It continues to play commercials without any ability to stop. Launches them immediately. Hard to get to info page. Plays sound even after you mute - stops whatever else you're listening. It's more about their revenue than helping listeners.

Why oh why does my favorite radio station, in the tech capital of the world, have the worst app I have ever tried to use?
Why even load podcasts when, almost every time I use the app, as soon as I start listening to the podcast, an ad replaces the podcast and the app crashes?
I would give this app 0 stars if allowed to but you have to give it at least one to post the review.

Most buggy bloated app on my phone
Suffering thru it since this is KNBR... layout is horrible, icons are too small to use for navigation. App restarts by itself and ads replay, randomly goes to App Store.
Time to ditch the Airkast platform and go to something else like Moblico (Sports Radio 810 WHB) or Jacapps (95.7)

What's with all the ads!
Not sure what happened but suddenly I can't continuously listen to the station because at the start of every minute an ad begins to play overlapping the audio. There's no way to stop it! Will probably have to delete the app if this doesn't get fixed soon!

Self-opening ads
I don't mind the ad you have to watch when you first open the app. I don't mind there being ads shown while you listen. What I DO mind and made me delete the app is that those ads shown while listening will open the App Store up automatically, on their own. Every time I switch back to the app from another one, it opens the App Store. Screw that.

App crashes ALL THE TIME
I love listening to KNBR, but this app is SO frustrating. It constantly crashes. Sometimes 5 times in 6 minutes. Each time it crashes you have to relaunch the app, listen to all the commercials/ads and then are lucky to get 30 seconds to a few minutes of content.
At times it will run without an issue, but most of the time, it constantly crashes.

Why are ADS more important?!?!
Tried listening to the SF Giants pregame show on KNBR 680. I probably heard a total of one minutes worth in half an hour because ads kept INTERRUPTING the segments in the beginning or while in progress. Stopping or repeatedly closing the app didn't work. This happens with this KNBR app AND their station on iHeart Radio. FRUSTRATING.

How come the ads don't crash like the app?
The creator of this app is like🙊🙈🙉🐒🐌☠👹👺🐴💨💩👀😝😡🐘💩⁉️🔃🔚🔇🗯. They sell out to the mighty $/ad which is too long, too much, and forced. It literally crashed 3 times in the 1st min- so I had to listen to the ads again... & again, until u can't take anymore. I gave up. If I could give 0 stars I would. Shuts itself down
Worked well until they updated it recently. Now it automatically shuts itself down repeatedly every 5 minutes or so and it has to be completely restarted. For the life of me I don't know why these apps aren't fully tested before they put them out and cause frustration.

Ad City!
When the app works, it's great. Although, the only way to really enjoy the app is by letting it play in the background. If you leave the app open, the app store will open frequently to try to get you to download an app advertised. It's actually pretty annoying.
Other than that, it seems to randomly want to stop streaming, so you can re-open the app and begin the Ad-fest.

Bad in so many ways
Crashes a lot. Forced to watch ads and frustrating when the ads last longer than the content before crashing. Be prepared to watch another ad after the app crashes and you restart the app. And it's just an ugly looking design. Not very intuitive. Feels half hearted. Take a look at your competitor for some ideas on how to do mobile.

Crashes.... A LOT!!
This app used to have small crashing issues every now and then. Especially when transitioning from the advertisement to the audio stream on initial startup. Now it freezes/crashes every few minutes. Every time I start the app I usually have to wait for one ad then swipe it closed then watch another ad and then the stream will start. I used to listen to this app for about 6 hours a day. I've been forced to seek other sports talk shows in the past few weeks.

Just awful...
The app just decides to close on its own whenever it feels like it. Sometimes it plays for five seconds, sometimes five minutes. If that was the only problem, then I'd give it two stars. Unfortunately, every time you reopen the app after it crashes, you get to sit through another annoying commercial. C'mon 'Iheartradio', you don't make enough money with your watered down crap products that you can't make a functioning app!!??

Always crashes, ads freeze
I travel a lot for work and want to hear KNBR while on the road but this app makes it almost impossible. The ad engine freezes the app and the live stream never starts. It doesn't matter if I'm using my iPad or phone, wi-fi or cellular it happens all the time. It's obvious that the purpose of this app is to generate ad revenue, not serve the listeners--that's ok, but make it work either way.

yep, this app is immensely disappointing
The KNBR app does not seem to play KNBR. I downloaded to listen to the AM Giants broadcast only to find an endless commercial playing continuously while play was live. I guess I'll go find an AM/FM radio and return to the 1990's.
Oh, additional bummer, can't leave a zero-star rating. Totally undeserving of this one star.. I get the feeling that a lot of people dropped the ball on this, shame on all of you.

Constant crashes...but the commercials always work.
Almost completely useless. Crashes nonstop. Every once in awhile it will work without an issue for about 2 hours, but that doesn't happen very often.
If you are a devout KNBR listener and you thought you couldn't possibly hear them cram one more commercial in a 60 minute window, you're in for a treat! Flo from Progressive or John Handlery will annoy you with an additional "hey, you opened the app" commercial before they annoy you on their regular spots every 7 mins!!

Crash since the recent app update
Ever since I updated the app few weeks ago, it often crashes every 5 minutes, and when you relaunch you have to watch a 30 second video Sometime it crashes more than once during a regular radio station break. So all I'm doing is fiddling with my iPad, listening continuous commercials I think the app update really screwed it up. Is it a new software app company. So, I moved back to listening to NPR. Endless Crashes
As a former Bay Area resident living in Portland, use the app to listen to Gary and Larry (all the other shows are HORRIBLE). It's 9:21, been listening since 9:05 - and it's crashed 5 times already. Until a couple of weeks ago, never had a problem with the app. Ever since, it crashes at least once in the 3 hours I listen, but usually crashes multiple times. And as someone else said, ridiculous that you're forced to watch an ad every time you launch it.

Endless crashes. Force fed Video Commercials
This app is currently unusable even after the recent update. After a few minutes the app will crash every time I try to use it. It will stay playing longer if you keep your phone unlocked and have the app up. The second you switch to another app or lock the phone the app will crash.
Additional you are FORCED to watch video commercials every time you launch the app. With the app crashing every other minute you have to wait an additional minute of a video commercial to relaunch the app. AND if you lock the phone while the video commercial is playing the app will just stop. It doesn't continue to play the commercial audio so you can at least get back to the app. Would give this ZERO STARS if I could.

Update or download this (cr)app if you want forced video ads (some that aren't even in English) and multiple crashes every single time you go away from using this mess. Did I mention ads? Once the app crashes, your forced to watch yet another ridiculous ad that you can't close without waiting for 30 seconds.
Airkast totally ruined my experience listening to KNBR. Especially since I rely on listening to the podcasts to get my Bay Area sports fix since I'm at work all day.
KNBR, please think of using another platform for your app. Airkast has got to go.

From bad to worse
This new update took the app from bad to worse and is now just unusable.
Not living in Bay Area anymore I depend on this app to get all my teams talk and news. I listen to this while driving, which, I assume are most of the consumers of this app.
First we are forced to watch a video (real safe when mobile). Then once the video completes, we are forced to click a button to "continue" (why?). Then we have to listen to the second stage commercials prior to the actual broadcast loading. Question...is the thought here that the regular KNBR listener just doesn't get enough commercials so let's further punish the app listeners? I digress.
So with the app fully loaded and the onslaught of Mary's pizza shack and Home Depot commercials in full swing, after a few minutes the app simply crashes or sleeps (it stops working). The only way to get back to the broadcast is to start from the very beginning, starting all over with the video and then commercials. Rinse and repeat.
Apparently there is zero QA and testing, just a new release?

Garbage
I've had an iPhone since the 3G and this is my first app review. This app was garbage before they forced you to watch an ad before being able to it the phone to sleep. Then the last update added that "functionality" but at least a the app worked on sleep mode. Now the app cuts out after a few secs in sleep then if you go back to play the feed again you have to watch the stupid ad again. Guess I won't be listening to 680 very much anymore.

Horrible
This app crashes all the time. I listen to KnBR religiously and rely on this app to work during my commute and lunch break. Adds crash and force you to re start and re watch the same add multiple times, podcasts crash in the middle of playing. This is extremely frustrating. I suggest you fix this ASAP or risk loosing loyal fans. This is the Bay Area the capital of tech the self proclaimed sports leader should be ashamed of themselves for putting this piece of garbage out.

Crashes all the time and makes you see the ad over and over.
Removing it and looking at other options. It constantly disconnects and every time it does, it makes you watch the ad again. I tried using it today and spent about a total of 10 minutes trying to use it and I had to watch the 30 second ad at least 8 times.

Too many commercials
I'm obviously a KNBR fan and I don't mind listening to the commercials that take place during the radio shows. I don't even mind an extra commercial for the privilege of listening via smartphone. BUT what is absolutely intolerable is being subjected to an on screen commercial when the app launches THEN several audio commercials That can last five minutes or more before I give up and close the app. Terrible. If you don't find value in those of us that listen via smartphone just don't provide the app.

Incompetent
One of the least useful apps possible. Last year, one could hear the post-game (Giants) show. Now- random podcasts. Podcasts are not updated. On a can't find a real local broadcast in real time. So the canned junk from CBS tersely works, local sports broadcasts don't work and podcast updates are random. Don't waste your time with this. Like the sound board on the early morning show. Broken.

Getting worse
The biggest thing for me is that when I pull out my headphones from the jack, the audio still continues on my phones speakers. Pretty much every other audio based app would pause until started again. This causes some semi embarrassing moments for me, like when my headphones get caught on something and come out when I'm in a quiet space.
Also, why not have the option to stream 1050?? I can't be the only one who wants access to it.
This new update did nothing to fix the headphone thing. It also screwed up the podcasts. It used to be you could download a podcast, now that function seems to be glitching. Also! I used to love downloading the Giants game recaps and post game wraps under the podcast section. I can't find them anymore!

Horrible App--way to go Cumulus!
Leave it to corporate drones to take what had been a decent app for listening to podcasts and trash it. This is horrible! A definite step backward. Like others said--disorganized and difficult to use. Have to delete app to delete some previously listened to podcasts. Pretty much useless in my book.

Can't blame KNBR for MLB Policies
I use this app strictly for listening to the radio shows on KNBR during the day. Unless you're paying for MLB at Bat you are not going to be able to listen to Giants games. I like how this app is more synced to live broadcast than I heart radio. Plus it has links to podcast as well. Great app

Does Not Work
I downloaded the KNBR app to listen live.
The app was difficult to navigate and as other reviewers stated, all I could get were preprogrammed ads. The live radio content would rarely play. Perhaps this was a bandwidth problem which prevented the switch to the live feed. Whatever it is, the app simply does not work. For what it's worth, the website isn't much better...

This Ap delivers K-rap
Dear KNBR. You are a sports centric station. That's what you do. I would like to listen to the guys do the post game wrap for Giants Baseball. Or Marty Lurie. Why on earth do I want to listen to non relevant pod casts and old crap. What you deliver on this ap is crap! You need to stream your actual real time content on this ap just like you do online. How hard a concept is that? Block the game content. I get it. But other than that deliver your normal on air content. Not a difficult concept.

37 minutes straight of ads.
I started "live listening" in the 6th inning. A few pre run ads is fine but the game was OVER before any content from the game actually played. All commercials for 37 minutes. THREE INNINGS LATER, the game was over. I missed everything. An utter embarrassment for the content provider. Immediately deleting. Utter. Waste. Of time.

Drops feed frequently
I try to keep up with Kruik and Kuip at 7:40 and also arrive at the office just before that time. So I switch from car radio to app and after 1 million ads, the show starts. And... Inevitably after a could of minutes I lose the feed. It just doesn't work well.

Umm...Key Feature Missing?
Literally identical experience to listening to KNBR on iHeartRadio. This app advertises that it set itself apart by offering local deals through the app. I've had this app since almost the beginning and unless I'm missing something, there are no local deals on this app. Can you stop advertising this as a feature if it's not there? Thanks.
Nothing particularly special about this app except that you have access to KNBR podcasts.

Sooooo many Ads
I remember this app used to be Ad free so it is just cluttered with them. I seriously listened to 5 minutes worth of repeated ads. Where is the actual show or game I've been wanting to hear?? Having moved to NY, all I want is to listen to my favorite sports station while I'm driving, but this app is becoming more annoying and makes me change it to something else. Might have to look for something else now.

Hey guys, I know this app isn't for listening to Giants games. I just wanted to take this chance to let you know how annoying I find your ads, and how you always cross the line with the exceedingly, mind-numbingly low content-to-ad ratio on your station. I've got to hand it to you---you've figured out what the maximum amount of ads a person can take per hour before their brain turns to goo is---and you play ads at 99.9% that level. Cheers to you and your greedy ways, and I hope one day, we can pay to remove ads on radio just like we can on apps, so that the days of more ads, less talk can finally be laid to rest.

Why, KNBR? WHY?
Can't listen to Giants games, can't listen to any broadcasting at all. Ads don't even have sound and there's an abundance of them. You get more ads than you would on pandora, so what's the point of even downloading this app? The play button pops up in the corner like its playing something but you hear nothing but silence.
KNBR, you said "You wrote in, and we listened. Here is your app" blah blah blah...read these reviews and please revise this app. Waste of time. Will be deleting and not downloading again until these issues are resolved

DROPS the Broadcast every few minutes
It's unbelievable that such a major broadcaster like KNBR puts out ABSOLUTE JUNK for its app. My god, it's the 21st century and streaming a broadcast is not that hard ! "Tune-in's" app rarely drops. What more could you want?
Easy streaming of Knbr. Of course you can't listen to giants game on this app. People need to understand MLB rules when it comes to mobile apps. Perfect app.

Can't listen to Giants games
All I want is any easy way to listen to Giants games. This app seems focused on podcasts and sideshows. It's not clear whether there is even a way to stream the standard live radio stream, and the non-live content doesn't even seem to load well.

Love the new KNBR App
I like that you can call the station straight from the App and download podcasts so I can listen to them anytime. This version is much improved over the original.
