Softgoods is a place where you can store, bookmark, journal, and organize your favorite fan fictions. You can create different shelves sand saved links to your favorite fan fictions. Add notes to each story so you can go back any time and see what you have read in the past and what your thoughts are.

Softgoods is also a great place to share what you have read with friends. You can do this by making shelves and notes public, and send your friends links so they can see what you have read and what you thought. You can add tags to each story as well, which makes it easy to search through your timeline.

What about bragging rights? Softgoods has that too. You can easily track how many fics have you read, what your word count is monthly, the number of authors you follow, and how much more you read than last month.

So Excited for Development!

So, I’m an avid reviewer and I found this app. I’m about to get the year subscription because I’m so excited for the growth this app can take!

The only downside is that there is a glitch with the ‘Reading’ filter (on the webpage not app). All others ones seem to work. This is the only reason why I didn’t rate it 5 stars (yet!).

I also tested it on both privet and public AO3 fanfics links and it works!

Thank you for creating an app that I can organize my fanfics (without jeopardizing the authors writing space!)

Try to use it but

I try to use it but it was forcing me to have ‘in app purchase’ on, when I try to say ‘okay’ it wouldn’t stop popping up and it froze my phone not letting me do anything. So yeah it’s a nope from me not when an app is forcing me to do something I won’t do.

Needs fixing

Update: thank you for hearing me. The font hasn't changed on mine yet but everything else is back. Thanks so much!

Original:The font is too big and it's a different font. The aesthetic is all off. This last update made not great changes. The ship, shelf, and fandom don't populate like before. Creating more steps. The pull latest doesn't actually pull properly. There's more manual steps than before.

My favorite thing about this app is that I could put the link of the fanfic of it would pull everything from Ao3 for me and now with the new update it’s not. So disappointing.

FAVORITE!

This app is my favorite!! I love being able to see my monthly word count to set goals for myself!! It’s so helpful to be able to look back at what I’ve read before in my sorted shelves :) they even do a yearly wrap like Spotify does- so I can’t wait for that!! The subscription is super cheap too if you want the extra stuff.

I payed the subscribtion but it didn’t work

So i paid and it did go through…. I have the bank statement to prove it. But it still told me i hadn’t subscribed. And to subscribe and i had to upgrade to premium to use certain stuffs EVEN THOUGH I DID I HAVE THE BANK STATEMENT TO PROVE?!!! . I sent a message in contact us but after 48 hours no such luck?! I paid for nothing 🥲

Awesome app!

I tried Softgoods because my regular reading app wasn’t great for tracking fan fiction. I love it. It’s easy to use and I’ve found nothing better for keeping up with all the great fics I’ve read.

Support is also awesome! I accidentally locked myself out and couldn’t get in. I was afraid I had lost all I had saved the last few months. But support answered immediately and helped me quickly. Woohoo!!

Really misleading

Initially this app seems great, you can simply link a fic and fill out some info and bam, tracked and recorded. I used it all throughout January and had over 300k words tracked. I opened the app on February first only to find all of that data was locked… because if you want to track all-time YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM. Otherwise it will only record what you’ve read in one month, and then refresh at the beginning of a new month. I found this to be incredibly misleading and I’m so disappointed in the creators of the app, who I assume are fic readers just like the rest of us.

Hi! I love this option to track fanfic reading progress/completion. One thing I am

really looking for is how to track reading progress for WIPs? I saw the “Completed?” toggle, but ideally, I would want to be able to log a single chapter or a number of chapters read, if that’s all that available until that point. Will that work? Or do I have to manually adjust the word count each time, and will it allow for multiple entries of the same fic, different chapter names? Thanks!

Bad idea all around

A “goodreads for fanfiction”-style app is all around a really terrible idea for fanfic authors, the fandom community, and fanfiction as a medium and the ability to review/recommend fanfic like published works seems like a recipe for disaster for fanfiction authors everywhere.

Where have you been all my fan fic life?

Love, love and love this some more. After perusing my Ao3 history (again) and still not finding what I was looking for, decided I needed to get organized. A spreadsheet would work but time consuming and not nearly as effective as linking. Couple of minor quirks (like having to cycle through read status instead of just picking one), but really easy to manage and use. It’s an amazing idea, executed quite well. Probably going to fall over when I get the history all in and see how much I’ve actually read, but highly recommend. Thanks for creating this!

What I’ve been looking for!

I’ve been saving my notes in a notepad for a while but this is way more efficient and I love how the link is there so I can immediately pull and give to someone! You can write down your thoughts about the fic and how much you’ve read in it.

I immediately subscribed right after inputting my first fic!

I just wish that if you stop in the middle of a fic that it would do the word count up to that chapter instead of the whole fic but that’s it.

Cool concept

It would be even better if it could calculate how many words read per chapter instead of saying I read the whole 151,431 words every time I mark that I read that fic that day. Stil really cool and it does help get an idea.

Awesome Idea and Cant Wait To See Where it goes

I love this app, ive been tracking fics on my own now for sometime and it so tedious and its also had to search it. This is awesome.

My one suggestion that i would recommend if possible is to be able when when you click into the fic inform to edit or update the journal of the fic, i think there should be a simple way to add said fic to multiple shelves. The reason i say this is because a lot of the fics i sort are on multiple shelves.

Cant wait to see where this goes

Great start!

I know the app is fairly new, but hoping we get more stats down the line for fandoms, ships, and tags. I’d love if we could add our own pictures for the shelves. The only downside that I foresee later is when a fic is deleted from the archive. Will the stats stay in the app or will it disappear?

i have been tracking every fic i’ve read so far this year in a note on my phone and let me tell you this is so much better!! i love that it’s so organized and you can rate and add a note about it which is all very nice for my forgetful self. such a genius app idea!
