Ok

The hidden object gameplay and story makes for a potentially fun game. But all the levels have time limits and some levels are pretty much impossible to win on the first try because of it. Just have to fail, familiarize yourself with the pattern, and eventually win. But the time limit with no options to adjust makes for a frustrating and repetitive experience. It’s designed like a pay to play app rather than a premium subscription app which is a rather odd choice. But if you feel like a hidden object game it’s fun to play for a bit especially early on before the time limit issues arise

Fun with caveat

I've found myself sucked in and playing this game for way longer than I expected. It has an interesting story, varying gameplay, and the core mechanic of hidden objects has enough polish, variations in mechanics and scenes, and development over time that it stays fresh and challenging despite repeated plays. That said, it's surprising there are no options for difficulty (stakeout time limits in particular feel more like repeatedly taking timed tests in school than having fun), and no options for colorblindness. A casual mode without the time limits would solve a lot of issues I have, I fear at this rate as the game ramps up I'll be giving up as it's really not fun memorizing scenes and panicking over curve balls as the clock ticks down and it asks you to spend all your resources to cheat or repeatedly play the same scene on repeat 5-10 times.

I’ve done all the steps on line that states what to do if it stop loading and it just won’t load no matter what. And it seems to be an issue because other reviews are saying the same thing. I love this game. Hopefully it gets fixed soon

Favorite game now doesn’t load

This is currently my favorite phone game but lately it almost never loads past the title screen and then it gives an error notice and says to restart the game. Restarting doesn’t fix it. It happens on both my phone and iPad and i know it’s not a device problem. The game is updated to the latest version, so it’s not that either. Devs, please please fix this issue! I’ll be so sad if I can’t play this game anymore.

Ghost Detective- it’s a 5 star

One of the most fun interesting games I’ve played. Please make more games similar to ghost detective. Great story. Immersive gameplay. Nice to not have to have in app purchases to be able to progress through the game. 3 skill levels. I’ve been on the normal difficulty level, it fits my skill level. Most fun I’ve had since I started playing games on my phone.

Addendum to my review

I noticed that they do consider this game as having in app purchases. But that’s not really accurate in my opinion. You need to have an active Netflix subscription to be able to play but you there aren’t any purchases for boosters and such.

Fantastic story and character development

I usually skip the character dialogue in games, as they add nothing to the game itself and are usually pretty dull. In THIS game, though, I’ve read every word. Each character is complex and flawed and mostly pretty endearing. They’re like people in our own lives: occasionally maddening but we root for them anyway.

The STORY actually makes up for the sometimes predictable hidden object puzzle. I only say “occasionally predictable because after playing 80+ levels, I’ve seen it all! Literally. I’ve come to the end of the game. That has also NEVER happened to me before. I usually get bored with a game LONG before I run out of levels. This game has kept me engaged with the puzzles and the story for a very long time. I hope and wish the developers will come up with more levels to play.

Speaking of which, I do have one significant complaint. There are three locations that are unlocked later in the game (university, cafe and grocery) that NEVER get any real play. They unlock and…exist, but the characters are NEVER sent there. So…why? Why even build them? Maybe that’s an indication that more game is coming soon, but those locations unlocked at least 20 levels before the end of the game! I would occasionally go there to pick up points or whatever, but they seemed pretty lonely out there with no one to visit. I hope the developers will FIX this.

Overall, this is an EXCELLENT hidden puzzle and interactive game. I loved it and I must because this is the first game review I’ve ever written…that may seem obvious. I’m not very fluid in gaming lingo. I only came here to see if there were more games LIKE Ghost Detective to play now that I’m done, but I decided to write this fan letter while I’m here.

too difficult

The game gets to be too difficult. too many objects to find and not enough time to do it. Your prior experience is worthless because the type and shape of object changes. It is just unreasonable to expect to be able to do it.

Update Broke My Game

Really loved this game until I updated it yesterday and it now it will no longer start. Just shows the Home Screen and repeatedly says error and asks me to restart. I deleted the app multiple times and redownloaded and it still will not work.

Yesterday’s update has a bug!! Won’t open!!

After yesterdays update, the app will not completely load! Loads about 90% then it just stays there and never opens. Looking at the reviews posted no one else has said anything about having the same problem. Please fix this, thank you

You just tap things in the pictures, they aren't even hidden. You can also just tap aimlessly until you find things. There shouldn't even be in-paid purchases if this is supposed to be a benefit of paying for Netflix...... If you like escape rooms, you will hate this.

Two Umbrellas

I was prepared to take one start off for the seemingly unclear number of times you must search each area to find the item you need, but u had to lop one off for the Royal Street location having two very clear umbrellas in every scene that has an umbrella on the list. So frustrating to be thwarted by such a basic mistake and easily fixable one too.

Oh, no! The story ended in the middle

Love this game, but I got a very abrupt message that the story was over but that I could continue to play if I wanted. The story was certainly not complete. Continue playing to what purpose? No more cases, even with lots of lose ends. Can’t even finish the insights for various characters. If there was an indication that an update was coming, I would hang in there, but…

Crashed before I finished the first case. Wanted me to restart. I will. It will be a different game. I don’t trust this one anymore. I’ve never had a game do that before.

Losing progress

This has happened 2 times now. The game will freeze, you close out, try to reopen but it gets stuck in a loop. The next time I opened the game, I lost HOURS of progress. From level 29 back to 25. Daily challenges, mementos, and leveling up specific levels. All GONE! Currently waiting in support, but by reading these reviews, I won’t hold my breath. I will update if they can get back to me.

Update: They fixed the glitch. They got back to me but were very dismissive. I tried to let them know that what they did to “make up” for losing all my progress wasn’t really worth it, they were like “oh well.”

If there are no more glitches, then I’ll keep playing.

Horrible glitch here

I love this his game and could play for hours. BUT, it just won’t save my progress. I got to level 7 and woke up the next day BOOM, back to level 4. It keeps doing it. Contacted support, they said make sure you close out of game correctly. GUESS WHAT? It still does it. I’m going to have to delete this. And I don’t want to but it’s so FRUSTRATING!

Slow Moving

I enjoy most hidden object games but this one isn’t great. I’m a fast player; once I’ve completed my quest/mission, I have to wait another 6-7 days for the next one. During that time, I can still search locations but the story doesn’t progress—which makes for a boring game. It can also be glitchy, at times. If you contact Wooga support, they likely won’t be able to help you…I’ve tried it twice.

Don’t give up!

Don’t give up on this game! I felt like quitting early on because this game is very hard. Unlike other similar games, the scenes don’t stay static. They change every time. I stuck to the game, though, and now I’m having so much fun with it. As you get better at the game, it because less difficult. This game has a Great story and amazing production values. I hope the developer makes more premium games for Netflix or Apple Arcade.

Game is rigged!

I wish this game wasn’t so rigged. The story seems great but ill never get to finish the story because the game is so difficult I already got bored of losing so much. I mean, Netflix is a huge money hungry company so it only makes sense they will make their games virtually unbeatable so that you have to spend money. Some of the objects are so obscured you can’t see them at all, forcing you to use your hint. But you also run out of hints, which then you have to spend real money to progress in the game and buy hints. If rich people will stop spending money on this games they wont make the games this difficult. But unfortunately as great as the story in this game is, its not worth anyone’s time. It’s extremely rigged and very very difficult. If they didn’t purposely obscured some objects to almost invisibility it will be better but thats not the case. Probably the worst hidden object game ive played in terms of difficulty. Uninstalling now!

Poorly designed objects

If you design a hidden-object game, you need to keep the chicanery reasonable. I’ve been trying to search for an “orange” in a pub scene for a long time. I made a screengrab to review the image in Photos, because I wasn’t finding it. I asked chatGPT to analyze the image to no avail. It ended up an almost hidden 2D element of an organize, after searching the internet.

And the orange is just one example.

The artists in this game weren’t properly vetted by the game designer and this causes me to accidentally select a red blob which happens to be “cutlery” - the object I needed to find.

This is just another example…

Fix this game or remove it from the App Store… this isn’t fun

Great game but….

Ok , I absolutely love wooga , junes journey is my all time favorite mobile game hands down ! This is a great game as well, but it is just so incredibly hard that I can’t seem to get ahead . I have to keep repeating the same scenes over and over and over ! Idk if this one will be a keeper for me ??

No support

Like the game a lot however… I cannot get support. I had an issue 2 weeks ago where I did not have any quests. Receive assistance then. Took about a week to resolve. Active communication - they were requesting screen shots etc…. Now I have the exact same issues for the past 5 days and nothing.

Good story

First mobile game where I am not just clicking through the dialogue. It can be tropey and stereotypey(her sister being moody all the time its such a over done sister trope/ atereotype) at times but over all, I would actually watch this show. ^_^. It has two elements that I love when mobile gaming, matching and hidden objects! So if you get bored with one you have a mini break with that and the story. I usually play the games without hints and extras just to challenge myself and have been able to get pretty far without having to redo a level. I think I didnt have to until like level six for some of the scenes. Just overall fun game to put down and pick up when ever.

As hidden puzzle games go this one started out pretty good but after playing a week or two “stakeout” scenes seemed to have at least one one ridiculously obscured item. Yeah, not fun anymore. Game got deleted - don’t miss it, sorry.

There is a bug - Good Game

There is a bug in the game. This is about enhancers/multipliers for any x2 in radio tower. if you have remain 2 or 1 times of use any of your multipliers (basically < 3) and at that stage if you play a big level which consists of simultaneous 3 level, you lost all your multipliers without getting anything at the end of the bigger level.

Which is annoying….. I hope you can fix it in time.

Good except…

I really want to love this game but the Stakeout mode is so incredibly frustrating. It takes about 7 or 8 times for me to get through all three rounds. I play lots of these types of games so I don’t feel like I’m a terrible player. Having to start back at level one when you fail level two or three is ridiculous, why can’t you just play the current level again to move on? Most levels are fine and if I fail I don’t mind having to play a scene again but the stakeout is just too much the way it is set up. If you are looking for relaxing seek and find this is not it, everything is timed. Might be nice to have the option to chose timed or not timed for a relaxed mode. Also not loving how the scenes are set up. Objects in the background are so small you have to zoom way in and then it is too big for the objects in the foreground, you spend so much time moving the screen around. I will say I like that the objects are not always the same. For example, a crane might be a construction crane in one scene but in another might be an origami crane. Kinda of cool, keeps things interesting! Great to be able to play this with a Netflix account, no ads and you don’t have to accrue energy to play a scene. I like the story line as well and having the option to choose from different responses when talking to other characters makes it a bit different for everyone. All in all a good game just hate the stakeout, more time even would be good. I am usually short about 4 items when time runs out every time.

Liked it but spectral binders are too hard to earn

The game was going good, I was glad it wasn’t actually sunset and just turned into a premium nextflix game. I still HATE the spectral binders. I enjoy how easy it is to keep track, 3 colors, each for different collection types. I just can’t get enough of the green ones, which of course is for the story collections. These games (hidden city, seekers notes, etc) usually have an in game friend option where you can gift each other these items to assemble collections, but this is only by yourself, so it’s very tedious to keep getting these by searching scenes and buying them in the store. I’ve run out of coins, I was enjoying the game…sad to hit an annoying roadblock. The story is very interesting though.

Fun, but get ready to grind.

This game is fun, but it doesn’t take long to see that this has the trappings of a F2P game. So far, the novelty has not worn off, but I wonder when I’ll get tired of playing the same thing over and over again to get all the items to assemble or solve the puzzles.

Also, the Lost Soul mechanic is a welcome surprise. Could play a game of just that.

Uh, sure…whatever

As a “free” to play mobile game this is an average blend of hidden object and match 3 puzzles, with above average production values. Fine. But what is Netflix’s angle here? I don’t see how they’re going to make any money off of this, and it has no tie ins to any of their IP, so what’s the point? This all just feels so redundant. That said, I do find myself reaching for the game during the inevitable mid-season slow points of their shows, so it is keeping my eyeballs in their eco system. What a dumb future we inhabit.
