This app was meant for lost cats and garage sales and has quickly turned into a place where neighbors talk politics and spread their ridiculous opinions. It has been on a constant downward spiral over the last year and the reporting function does nothing. We ended up deactivating our accounts. There’s no point to this app anymore.

No option to delete your account is offered via next door App! Beware!
When I downloaded the App it “appeared” to offer many ways to sign in.. email, Apple ID, Google etc. but the link to set up with email was dead. So I checked to see if my phone was frozen, and that it wasn’t just a phony option to sign up with email and it signed me in with Apple ID. This is giving way too much access to my personal information to an APP. I tried to delete and resign up with email... when I verified with my phone number it says it doesn’t recognize it as valid. I just used it with the Apple ID so??? I tried to delete the App and Next Door doesn’t provide an option. They force you to make a request.. well I did try to make a request to delete via the App and it wouldn’t work. So... glitchy, overreaching to violate privacy and gain my information, but unwilling to offer support.

Nextdoor is a very liberal run app, that’s uses what they call “leads” as censors. The local area lead has sole authority as what gets posted, who may post and suspending your account. They will delete any post they they disagree with and allow their friends to post any thing they want and foster hate, name calling and misinformation. The lead can also suspend your account for whatever reason they want too. Makes Facebook look good, and that’s hard to do. There is also no appeal process, strictly whatever the local “lead” wants to do. Saturated with ads, 👎👎👎👎👎

very difficult to reactivate account and the customer service account and pessimo. I recently changed my address and I haven't accessed my account in a while, I don't remember the password and my phone number has also changed. Anyway, I tried to contact them to create a new account or get the old one. I didn't even get a solution. They want proof of address, but the place I'm living in is a commercial building and I don't want my other important mail to arrived here. I never get anything in the email for recover password. anyway I need to look for a job I wanted to use the app but they don't solve my problem in any way. they said they were going to send me a postcard until today I didn't receive it and as my address is commercial builder and I don't know if they lost it here or if they didn't send it to me ... I think it's ridiculous I have my number I have my email I don't know what problem they have to make checking easier. very disappointed!!!

A neighbor wrote of a problem with Apple Card and I’ve tried to respond. There are so many layers trying to log in with account and non acceptance of Correct password, that after the fifth try, I’m giving up.
Too many faulty security layers. You should be able to comment right then and there. I received the notice, so I must be a member. You should be able to go directly to “Comment.”

Let’s get to the main one: I signed up on Nextdoor and stated I have a spouse. When she signed up as well to add a spouse did I show up? No. Guess who did. MY ex. My ex showed up as the only option for her spouse. Very awkward. Perhaps it’s because they used this address before? In any case my email is verified so I’m not sure why I can’t add my wife as a spouse and she, me.
Secondly the interface needs work. Someone asked about meatless alternatives so I switched over to a search engine to find the name of a local grocery store. When I switched back to the app it auto refreshed and the post was gone. I’m doing a search I can’t find it. Scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and can’t find it. Now I couldn’t be helpful to this person and wasted time scrolling.
Lastly, the buggy app froze. Just plain froze.
Nextdoor seems like a good idea to help neighborhoods, and I see it’s gotten great reviews so I’m not sure why I’ve had a bum time. In any case I would be happy to entertain a follow up to try and remedy these problems. Especially MY CURRENT WIFE BEING RECOMMENDED MY EX AS HER SPOUSE. Thank you.

So...I want to read recent posts. I want to see what’s going on NOW in my neighborhood, not wade through a honeypot of two people bickering from 6 weeks ago...I can’t do that. I change the sort to ‘recent posts’ and I’m only ALLOWED to keep it that way for 60 days???? Why? Why can’t I sort it the way I WANT it sorted?
Why am I persistently harassed to turn on notifications? Maybe I don’t want the clutter. Maybe I just want to open the app and read what’s going on now when I need to open it.
Ads not marked as ads, ads that I cannot block or mute, honeypot junk bickering floating to the top of the feed, pertinent and important info lost and buried (dunno about you I kinda feel that knowing there’s a water main break and my water will be turned off while it’s being fixed is more important to read than two people bickering over whether or not a dog should be outside).
I honestly don’t know what you do or ‘fix’ in your weekly updates. I think they are more about gaming the system so you look to be a better maintained and workable app than you really are.

I understand verifying people’s identity and address but everyday? I’ve reactivated my account submitted every peice of mail and ID 27 times in the week I’ve joined. It’s a bit ridiculous. Honestly this app is useless. You can’t ask for help, but you can offer it. You can’t say certain words or your account gets deactivated. You get notified 10000x for irrelevant things even after turning OFF notifications. It’s a really really awful version of Facebook. 🙃

Nextdoor can be a good app however, it is flooded with Middle-Aged loony tunes who constantly bully up on people, and recruit their friends to as well in comments and on DMs.The fact that this app still doesn’t have a way to block users is extremely dangerous when dealing with crazy people. I also do not like that the app makes you say what street you live on. If next-door had some more moderation and didn’t just allow bullying to take place over and over it would be a much better place. Are used to love next-door but I think now it’s just good in theory.

Overall the app is convenient and it provides some great benefits so that you are well informed about your neighbors and neighborhood. Twice, though, I’ve reached out to support for assistance with the app and they offered no help at all.
On one occasion the “Help” support person I was assigned told me to use the web browser and stop using the app.
Two weeks ago I reached out to “Help” again. I told them when I was viewing “For Sale” ads on any of my electronic devices that my screen froze and I got gray shades when it was freezing. I emphasized this happened on all electronic devices; not just one. The support person assigned to me said there were no other issues like this reported to them. With the most recent app update this issue was fixed so there was obviously an issue!

Great concept but seems like a great way to track people’s activity as if we don’t have enough apps trying to do that. Also I was flagged because I used a comedians picture and used a nickname. Sorry but I don’t want people knowing where I live and who I am and my name- too many issues with safety especially during Covid. Hopefully someone comes out with a better app.

I love this app but there have been some pretty annoying glitches lately. The feed and messages are not always up to date and when this is happening, I do not get notifications. Someone I have been trying to buy something from said she’s experiencing similar issues. Read receipts on the direct messages would also be nice once the issues have been fixed.

The app does not notify me of notifications when pm’s are received. The only time it will advice it’s if I’m using my phone and I am there to see it. I have updated the settings in both the app and iOS and have also reinstalled the app. Please help, the app does not display the messages and it’s complex to locate messages once you are on the app.

Recently NextDoor has added a new feature to the feed called popular posts from everywhere. There is no way to opt out of this irrelevant information that does nothing except clog our feed with useless posts. Furthermore, when we post we have no way of knowing if it will stay within the communities that we have chosen to communicate with or if NextDoor will share it nationwide.
This practice goes against NextDoor’s stated objectives of creating close knit communities whereby we all help one another. It is a blatant use of our data in an immoral manner.
