Kharé is brimming with things to do and creatures to meet. From legendary designer Steve Jackson, co-founder of Lionhead Studios (with Peter Molyneux), and Fighting Fantasy and Games Workshop (with Ian Livingstone), and designed and adapted by inkle, the app uses inklewriter technology to tell your journey in real-time, shaping the story around your choices. The text itself changes based on how you play and what you do. In combat, the action is described on the fly based on how you play.

Illogical, awkward, and too linear
Based on the great reviews I read, I was really excited to play this game. However, after about 5 hours of playing, I’m perplexed why people rate this game so highly. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to the consequences of your actions (sometimes you make a seemingly logical choice and you die; others times you pick something whimsical and get rewarded with treasure). The spell book mechanics are awkward, forcing you to flip back and forth between menus to try to figure out which spell might help in a given situation. And the storyline is a bit too linear for my taste, not allowing you to go back and explore areas you have previously been too. Thank god I bought this game a couple years after it’s release, so I only wasted $5 on it. Avoid at all costs.

Major step backwards from the first installment
In the first installment, I felt as though I was really choosing my own adventure — there were so many things I knew I was missing as I blundered my way through which really made the game feel magical and unique, and made me want to replay it to see what I’d missed. In this one, you have to wander aimlessly through a city, covering every inching and getting thrown backwards or killed at any “wrong” step. You’re forced to collect 4 spell lines, ensuring that you experience the exact same things every time. I felt as though I was being railroaded by a storyteller who insisted on me playing through one particular story. What’s the point of a “choose your adventure” that forces you to choose the one right path?

Exceptional
I went over the four apps in my review of the first book, I’ll just add a few things. Again Inkle has enhanced an old, classic gamebook and created a fantastic game. This second volume is far superior to the first one—it takes a long time to understand what’s going on, to gather all the clues that you need to succeed, although it is also the continuation of the previous volume. It can seem sometimes it will be difficult to finish it but it is never impossible, and the rich universe that lies behind the story is full of mysteries and twists and keeps you involved. A must-have.

I thought the first chapter was kind of short (finished in a day), but this one kept me entertained for at least a week. There's a specific objective in this one which is more challenging than the straight-forward journey of the first chapter, and this one also introduces a neat mini game that will keep you occupied for a while

Worst of all the Sorcery games
Sorcery 1, 3, and 4 are all great and enjoyable games and stories but this has got to be the worst of them. It's just plain bad. It punishes any form of exploration and wastes your time over and over again.

This is my first game of the Sorcery series and it was brilliant, creative, and addicting. Going to download the first now, and then all of them.

DA BEST
It's the best game ever especially the gambling building and I know a way to never lose any tokens all you have to do is rewind a little bit whenever you lose and you never even lost! I would recommend this game to anyone.

Great! Better than the first one.
This is a really fun game. It is the more the urn version of a choose your own adventure book that also has a fighting system. It's well written and has beautiful art. I also founded it to be very interactive.
This second game in the trilogy is way longer than the first one. It has good replayability value and is more fun. If you like choose your own adventure games I highly recommend it.

I don't understand how this can have any reviews below 5 stars, the Sorcery! trilogy is a masterpiece! Worth every penny and then some!

1985 called, it want's it's game back...
This game is so bad, I paid for Wi-Fi access on my flight just to write this review...
Total piece of garbage. Text based adventure from 1985 where the "choices" make no difference- you lose your food, lose your health and die. Animation and graphics look like South Park circa 1998.
The magic system is so obtuse, you have to call up this inventory to try and figure out the three digit code for the spell (more like a password)- except you can't cast spells because this little Elf tags along with you and prevents you from casting spells (what a great idea!).
Steve Jackson made some OK games back in the 80's but they were always uninspired grinds, good to see that nothing's changed.
I bought the adventure pack, played through part of the first Sorcery!, deleted it, and deleted Sorcery! 2 without even trying it.
It's games like this that remind me why the Freemium model exists.

When I thought it couldn't get any better ...
... it does. This game is an example of how apps should be made. Absolutely beautiful. Captivating. And to top it off, this game has a great deal more replay value than the first game in the series. Well done.

Wonderful evolution of interactive fiction!
As a long time lover of both exploring puzzle adventures (i.e. Myst, Riven, The Room, Drawn: the Painted Tower) and Interactive Fiction (IF) (Infocom's Zork and the Frotz' IF engine), I have struggled to find worthy contenders that have made the transition to the mobile app store (feel free to make suggestions!). Inkle has done an excellent job bringing Jackson's Fighting Fantasy books to the new millennium and the mobile app store. Sorcery 2 is even more immersive and 'classic IF' than it's predecessor, placing you in a more non-linear environment that requires you to wander around much more to solve the puzzles and reach your objectives. The many sub plots and side stories (which culminate in a climactic twistable ending) contribute to a greater immersive experience and preserves the feel and culture of IF but makes it fresh and vibrant once again.
If you love any of the games I've mentioned above, then you won't be disappointed with Inkle's work with Steve Jackson's Sorcery 2 (or 1 or 3 for that matter)

I found the Sorcery! series on a playthrough, and I immediately bought it, If you love choose your own adventure games, you will love this. I only have one problem with it, THIS GAME TOOK ME TWO YEARS TO COMPLETE. Great Game!

A spectacular game!!!
I rarely find a game that won't lose my interest after playing it for a little while. However, when I played this game I played it non-stop until I completed it (both chapters). Even my little sister who has never been too great at reading and has always completely hated it has been playing this so much that she probably has no clue how much she's read. Even the art was spectacular from the map to the accession all picture hidden through the story giving a view of what your character was seeing. It was wonderful to see what was described in the story on the map. This is one of my absolute favorite apps and I can not see a time when it will ever leave my home screen. I am anxiously waiting for the next chapter of the story to be released.

The best app of all time
I have played the first game 4 times and gotten many different endings as we'll as doing 4 play troughs of number 2 when three comes out I will buy it no matter what. I'm interested in the bird men they alluded to in the first game and what kinds of amazing art they will make

Sad that its over ;(
I played the first game and was so happy to find a game with the combonation of turn based combat, choose your own adventure, and puzzle solving i also love the spell-system how you have to write a 3 letter combo/word/abrivation. I beat the first in 2 days and searched for all the clues in this one however i still gave up and let lorag curse me, what i want to see in the next game is a way to possibly win over Lorag and have him either leave you or assist you cant wait for part 3 hope you make it soon.

Amazing game!
I can count off games of this quality made for mobile devices on one hand. This one does not wow for the graphics. The story is fascinating though. It took me two days of solid playing just to find all the clues. I know I missed loot and such I could have gotten. A word to the hesitant: buy the first one first. It is shorter, but it's important.
And several days later I'm still playing.
For those that are startled by the price there is no advertisements. No nag to review and no in app purchases.

Worth every penny
The original Sorcery! Was pretty short, so I was disappointed that I had already bought both games at the same time, but since my progress from the original was saved, I started to play this game. Boy, was I glad I did. This game is about 5 times longer, and really engaging. It also has way more items and spell usage opportunities than the first chapter. I seriously cannot recommend this sequel enough.

Amazing!!!
I can't believe how much mileage I got out of this game. I played the first Sorcery three different times and loved each adventure, but my first playthrough of Sorcery 2 was way longer than all three of the original playthroughs combined. I could probably play this game three more times and still not see all the content. Thank you Sorcery team!

The game is a text-adventure, but it is so well written and has so many splintering choices it is well worth the purchase price. Great illustrations, compelling story, fun mini games within, and most importantly unlimited replayability! A must have game on the iPhone, can't wait for Part 3.

This is, by far, the most entertaining game I've played on my iPhone. It's amazing how visual my memories of the different moments in this game are considering it's mainly a text based game!
This is not a game book, it is a constant stream of choices making the story feel like it's being written as you play. The places, characters and moments are well written, and there are so many choices and outcomes the game could be played multiple times.
$5 well spent!
