Great App

I haven't used it in a while but it is a great app. A warning to the developer, you should know that with further versions of iOS this app will no longer work. It needs to be updated. I suspect it needs to be converted over to 64bit

Love it

I don't know much about photography but I've used the iPhone camera quite a bit and therefore have become familiar with how to use it well, so the slow shutter app has served me very well and it succeeds at what it claims it can do, and any app capable of that deserves 5 stars.

Easy, long-exposure camera app

Many of the night cam apps require a lot of fiddling with controls and give results that are either too dim, too noisy or are overexposed. Slow Shutter instead has three modes, each with controls dedicated to that effect:
NORMAL for blurring waterfalls and capturing other motion in daylight. (Controls: 1 sec, 3, 10, or auto. Sensitivity can be set to low, medium, high or auto. Set freeze after you shoot.)
LIGHT TRAIL for moving lights like cars at night. (Controls: 1 sec, 3, 10, or infinity where you press shutter again to stop. Lighten exposure more after you shoot.)
NIGHT For long night exposures in very dim light with excellent automatic noise reduction. (Controls: Lighten exposure more after you shoot.)
With one app you can make any kind of long exposure shot easy and get excellent results.
+ Excellent images with minimal messing
+ Universal, works with iPhone and iPad
- Focus is automatic and only focuses on what's in the center grid
- Shooting is a two-step process

Love this added functionality

However they manage to get a longer exposure, I'm a fan. There tends to be some graininess in low light long exposures, but that's to be expected. After some processing (even in-phone,) I'm usually much happier with my night photos on this app than any other - or even using the stock camera app on iOS.

Long exposure great for low light

Great tool. It looks like it takes a bunch of images and stacks them. Great for low light. Best if tripod mounted. It would be nice if it would stack more images! Instead of 10 seconds, how about 5 or 10 minutes. Would be a great tool for astrophotos.

Gimmick..not long exposure

You would think an app named "Slow Shutter" takes long exposure shots. Nope. It only imitates to be one by taking multiple photos and blending it together to make moving objects blurry. Long exposure means the actual lighting of the photos change. These look no different than regular iphone photos...

Nice app…but

Hey, I’m not complaining. It’s great Apple offers these apps for free. Love it. But, and I may be wrong, I don’t think this app takes these "long term exposures” in the traditional sense. The more recent iPhones (including the 6 series) can not take a picture with an exposure longer than 0.5 seconds. Why? Don’t ask me. I’m sure there is a reason, but I find it a significant limitation to the camera’s functionality. What I think this app is doing is piecing together many 0.5 (or whatever) exposures to create a semi-pseudo time exposure. It is certainly better than nothing and the results are impressive…IF YOU KEEP THE IPHONE STABILIZED! Because of this I agree with another reviewer who has requested the developer add a time delay “switch” so triggering the shutter doesn’t move the iPhone while a picture is being taken.

Timer would be nice

Slow shutter speeds often best create best results when the camera is stable. Often composing a shot, then shooting, while not at the camera, is key. You somehow set the mobile device, move away, and the long exposure shoots.
Why no timer? After the marketing grace Apple has shown this company, why would they not include this feature? Or the reverse camera option? It can't be that hard, folks.

Does not work

I downloaded the app a few hours ago and have tried everything to get it to run. A black screen comes up with light, night and auto and then the phone goes back to the face it had before I attempted to open the app. Steer clear until bugs worked out. I will change this review if things get better or I'm reimbursed for my purchase.

Very impractical

Unless you have a tripod and the one to watch waterfalls all day it has no purpose for city life photography!

Don't bother

The photo is a composite of a bunch of images from a video, basically. The crop factor is the same as if you're shooting a video. Not sure how the full 3264×2448 resolution is achieved even with the crop factor, perhaps upsized?
This isn't a true solution for slow shutter. I would try something like Cortex Cam even though you don't have as much control, but at least you get the full resolution.

Version 1.0

Flawed, but interesting

Disappointingly low-res, but interesting. Compared to "Slow Shutter Cam" by Cogitap, which allows me to shoot at three levels of quality (S, M, L) and full resolution (2448x3264), this offers an inferior 720x960 capture and no selectable quality levels.
That said, this one seems to something interesting: image stabilization of the non-moving portions of an image (and maybe of the entire image, I'm not sure). Taking a picture of my cat eating with this app, everything appears stationary and focused except the cat, who shows the expected motion blur (but not much). Contrast this with Cogitap's app, which applies no such stabilization, and everything shows motion blur (due to my not holding the camera perfectly still). This probably does make it a better choice for night photography, in certain circumstances and for most people.
Ultimately, until I find an slow shutter-esque app that makes image stabilization selectable, I'll probably keep both on my iPhone 4S and use one or the other as my exact intent warrants.
Thanks for reading.

Has potential

I downloaded this app because I Love Lucky Clan's Art Studio but was very disappointed by the low resolution. I took the same pic with this app and my favorite other Slow Shutter Camera. Lucky Clan was 198KB and Slow Shutter was 1.3MB - i won't be using this app until the resolution improves which I hope is soon because the slow shutter effects are absolutely beautiful with this app. If resolution does not matter to you, then get this app!!!
