I wrote this long great positive paragraph review on TangledFX and rated it 5 Stars. But when I pressed send, it said the nickname was taken and I had to start over, FAIL on the review portion. Unfortunately I'm not rewriting it. Bottom line I F'n love the app.

For years, a lot of Mac users have been waiting for the Fractilius Adobe filter for Mac, but the company that makes it refused. This does the same thing and better yet, it works on iPad.

I rarely use my iPhone 6 + for photos typically defaulting to my DSLR. Yet this photo app is so creative and cool it has actually made me use my camera phone more just to work on my images with Tangled FX. I love the artistic creations and super easy to use.

Started off looking gimmicky but with a bit of play is now addictive. I am using it nearly every pic.

Great fun! Takes your photos and photos of personal art work and raises all kinds of possibilities ! Gives a whole new perspective on creating images with my I phone!

I am loving this so much. It’s fun to use it and play with it. The only thing I would love even more is if I could use it on my Mac! And also Don Coyote’s idea of a way to apply to selected parts of photos. I would definitely buy again and pay more for both!

I have a bucket load of photo apps on board but just have to say--Tangled FX has been a prominent player in my post-production activities. In fact, I purposely "shoot" w/ideas for use here... & the variety of permutations you can create of one prized image is endless!!!

When reality doesn't quite match what I see in my mind, Tangled FX can blur the details and strengthen the lines. It exposes the ley lines within an otherwise dull photo to mere mortals like us.

I love this effect, and the app works perfectly. Worth picking up.

I love this app! I have not mastered it, but love working with the various editing styles. I only wish there were a way to stop it mid-way sometimes when the edits are happening. It is fun to use and love seeing how people use it successfully.

It is really quite amazing how beautiful the results are. What used to be ordinary photos are now headed for canvas prints!

I've noticed better results from pictures that have a lot of hairs/blades of grass/branches/grains/patternsetc.

A tutorial would be nice, but not necessary. It's easy to use, but some of the advanced settings are difficult to understand right away.

This is a great app! I am getting some amazing results that I will be using on Tshirts soon! I only gave 4 stars because it doesn't export a .png file. It will be perfect if that is ever added. Well worth the time, effort and purchase price!

I use Photoshop every day at my job. I'm familiar with lots of filter packages and have used lots of photo apps on iOS devices. I've never seen anything quite like Tangled! It's so organic looking and the result doesn't really look like a filter, it looks like art - like somebody actually painted it. It's a breakthrough and some truly remarkable code. I'd like to shake the hand(s) of the programmer(s).

I own tons of photo apps & a lot of them seem to do the same old effects with different interfaces. This app has some unique filters that produce striking & unique results.

This app is not appropriate for all of my images, but for some, it renders my photos absolutely unearthly astoundingly awesome!!

Simple yet effective! Sometimes it's okay to have a consistent type of output from an app when it yields such a pleasant result. Although the filters effects can be subtle on the low end and really extreme when set to higher levels, the output is warm and creamy and has a beautiful render quality, especially at the higher pixel settings. Was worth what I paid for it... Fun app.

This app still rocks. Granted, I haven't really seen any updates lately, but as solid as this app is, I'm not sure it really needs one. This app is so amazing, in fact, I would love to see the developer implement something similar into another photo app!

What can I say? It's stable, it saves at high resolutions. It does one thing and it does it extremely well. I'd love to see the devs come out with even more apps with this quality!

Recently started taking more photos with my iPhone and Tangled FX was suggested online. Have an app Shock My Pix on my MacBook and this takes that idea and runs with it. I am learning the adjustments and am applying them to existing photos. I also take some photos using the filters. One feature I would like is cropping or a move and adjust choice before using a filter.

What a fun app! I found that I really love 3 or 4 of the effects. Some of the effects look best on simple photos. Other effects were more effective on photos, that were more detailed. I also like how the black and white choice, creates lots of texture! I look forward to printing some of my pics, which were edited with Tangled FX.

This app is so different and useful! You have so many different varieties for what you want your item to look like! I use this in all of my editing photos. And the skin is sooo beautiful. It's the best skin app and I recommend you to get it now. Money was DEFINITELY worth it! Buy now before it's too late!

This app is so worth whatever I paid for! It's easy to use or you can fine tune all of the effects to suit your creative juices.

Apply to old photos and jazz them up. Apply to pictures and you may wind up with colorful abstract piece of art.

I can't stop playing with this long enough using old pictures to go out and take new pictures!

I have loads of photo apps on my iPhone, this one does not try to be a jack of all trades, it does one type of effect perfectly. I've never seen any effect like this, and the app enables you to apply it in a variety of ways, and tweak each of them either in a basic mode or the advanced mode with several more factors to fine tune. It is easy as can be to use, yet with enough depth that one could experiment with it for months (years?) to get precise images just the way they want them. So, whether you just want to apply a cool preset filter and be done, go in a bit more and fine tune various settings (all of them or just the basic set), or start making and saving your own custom settings and using the app to make something that feels your own, this app is terrific. I've been exploring it for a couple of days, and just realized I can apply filters over photos I've already filtered through Tangled, getting some really nifty looking stuff. I'm just goofing around mostly, but sometimes I realize an hour or two have gone by, this app is such a joy to use.

I agree with others, the only thing I can think of to make this app better is a mask or other way to apply the effects to only certain parts of a photo. It'd be nice, but I'm fine without it.

This application is one of my favorite on my iPad. I love the ease of use and I love the effects and my ability to adjust them. About the only thing that I wish it had was ability to mask area so that not all the effects cover the entire picture. It would also be nice to be able to have a slightly faster way of saving.

This app is very similar to one I paid a lot more for that works in Photoshop. It is my favorite filter there and now on my IPad. I now have the ability to apply it to my photographs on my IPad . I recommend it to anyone to add its effect to their photos or artworks. I Think I good extension for this would be a masking feature so some parts of the image could have the effect and others not. Otherwise a great filter!

There are a lot of photo apps in the App Store. This one is different. This allows you to add a bit of texture in a different manner and other programs.

It helps make the pictures pop and adds that all-important bit of depth.

One my favorite imaging apps. I love how versatile it is; from using a light effect to clarify details or go a little crazy with the cheese wiz for some insane twisted wrangles. The image quality and output resolution options make this a top-notch professional effect. I would most definitely buy it again.

There are a lot of similar programs available in apps, and I've tried them all. I like the extreme effects once in a while, but like to make more subtle changes to images. It took me a while to figure out how to do minimal tweaks, and then saved the processes and am so pleased with the results! Working as a professional photographer, I now use Tangled to give a sharp and defined quality to images that would otherwise be too soft. Once in a while, I use this app to do extreme effects, then put them through other apps to soften them and love the results. There really are endless possibilities with this app!

I liked the results but...

It would always crash advising me that I was using too much memory and suggesting that I exit ither images and or decrease the size of the full size image. I found that if I exit all other images and do a hard reboot the it would always work but only once. The crash on the next image so I just exit the image and reboot and run it again - one image full size per crash.

I never do reviews but this one deserves one. It was the best 2 dollies spent I would recommend it to any editor put there. But their is only one thing I do not like is the way you pick a photo but otherwise it is amazing. Also go check out my account on Instagram it is EliteEdits12.

Any novice photographer can take a ho-hum picture and transform it into a beautiful picture that people will actually like. I use Storehouse on my iPad and Steller on my iPhone and I'm thinking of telling a story about the wonders of this app. Get it now if you like to take the random photo with your iPhone. I really like this app but it keep crashing everytime I pick select a picture from my photo library to enhance. And when I open the app back up my picture is there and I can create any scene I want .. But if I selected another picture to create it crashes again etc. PLEASE FIX!! The app is wonderful I just don't like the CRASHING EVERY TIME I SELECT A PICTURE FROM MY PHOTOS Album.. I even deleted from my phone and reinstalled it to see if that would fix the problem. But it didn't ...😣😣😔😔😔

I'm both an artist and a photographer and I haven't found anything that I couldn't use this app on. Every image has something different to offer when filtered through this app. The results are absolutely gorgeous. This app quickly moved into my top 10 favorite apps and if you're creative I think you'll love it just as much.

I have used a variety of photo fx apps, from iPhone based to full fledged photoshop on PC. Tangled has become my new favorite quick filter fx! The presets give you great results and people love seeing themselves transformed with the various styles. Fans of Cartoon Me and Instagram or Facebook users should definitely get this.

I've used a number of these cartoon effects type apps, like Toon Paint, Color Splash, Snaptime and Mobile Monet to list a few. Since finding Tangled FX, I haven't really gone back to the other apps too much. Tangled FX has a wide variety of cartoonish effects, all highly adjustable and easily sharable. The app is easy to get around and figure out, I can't recommend this app enuf, but keep in mind, it is a very specific range of effects, not your only effects app, just a great addition to your arsenal.

I've been a Tangled user for years, and was excited to try out the upgrade. I'm underwhelmed. Too much emphasis is put on the blurred background, which has no effect on the image. It's a worthless feature to me. The application should provide a more streamlined experience when going from "one line" mode to the panel that shows all sliders. It shouldn't two taps. Further, it's hard to tell which effect is currently in effect, since all the check marks are the same color. The current effect should be highlighted some way. There are more, but I suspect the app designer has not watched actual users use the app.

Have been looking for fractalius type effect i could use on my mac and ipad and this is it - wonderful effects, and i like the interface though figuring out which slider affects what is challenging. I wish there was a stop button to stop the render process part way and shows the slider status at that point.

I find the new interface very distracting and hard to read - the older dark gray interface was much easier to read. This app is awesome and one of my favorites, but the fancy changes to the interface don't really enhance the app in my opinion. The eye candy should be the art I'm making with the app, not the app itself. This seems to be a common fad for app developers.

Another reviewer said "it does one thing and does it well".

I would say it does it exceptionally well!

Looking forward to expanded effects. This App is very, very, fun and creates beautiful art. If you are a "cat person" you are going to spend hours of fun tweaking photos of your cats! Of course it works with other subject matter too:)

This app has several presets to choose from the create a variety of illustrative effects. You can then adjust the effects with sliders that include the option for advanced settings. It is a lovely app that I am having so much fun using on my images. It can be bold and over the top, or delicate, it is up to you. The images render in a preview which is a lower res, and renders more quickly. Then when you want to output you ask it to render in high res. Totally worth the money.

Tangled FX continues to be a valuable tool in my artistic arsenal. I appreciate the ability to create my own custom presets as well as being able to export them so I can use them on all of my iOS devices.

Also, I cannot stress how important it is to be able to work on high-resolution images (12 megapixel and higher). That really makes Tangled FX a true artistic application as opposed to many of the "toys" at The App Store that only work with screen resolution files.

I loved from first use. Only one MAJOR request... Please add a "reset default settings" button to the Tune menu. I get so carried away, I don't remember what the pretty good starting points were for all the settings. An added bonus would be a settings switch to allow you to keep the changes made to the Tune settings with each new photo loaded, or be able to reset to defaults automatically when the next photo is loaded into the app.

I truly enjoy this app, a lot of times when I use my iPhone camera, I play around with the pictures just for fun, not even to save them or show them. Occasionally something really great will come out of this app, and I am truly satisfied with it. It's the only camera app that I continually come back to.

This is a terrific creative tool. It has great presets, allows infinite tweaking, is well designed, and produces surprisingly magical results. I use it blended with other creative apps, such as Procreate and iColorama, for adding flow and depth. it can be as subtle or as wild as you wish.

This app has replaced ShockMyPic, ToonPaint, and Moku HD, for me. I use Tangled for woodblock and etching-like effects, mostly in black and white, after collaging images elsewhere, then I blend it back into modified versions of the original image. I have also imported Tangled images as masks into iColorama, for interesting results. Tangled FX images work well on their own – and play well with others. I recommend Tangled FX, happily. Well done!

I began using Tangled FX when I observed on a social media photography site edited images with stunning results and asked "how are they doing that?" Fortunately someone had hash tagged #tangledfx and I figured it out! Since then I have been exploring the seemingly limitless editing combinations and have unleashed a creative side of my photography that had been suppressed until this app. I love the stunning results and so do my admirers. Thank you for providing this creative vehicle. There's no stopping me now, lol.

Love the app. It's a very cool effect to add a frame or border then apply the Tangled FX, but I have to do that in other apps then import. Same with cropping.

So my request: the ability to crop and add frames. The app still gets 5stars as is, but adding some basic photo editing options would be killer. Thx, hope to see more updates!

This app allows you to take a somewhat basic photo and abstract it so that it becomes very interesting. All the different options let you be really creative. I also like using it in app mash ups where I layer it on top of the original photo and use varying blending modes to bring out the different aspects.

I would see these crazy, extreme, & somehow oddly repellent pix now & then; and wonder what the heck made them. THEN I saw this incredible landscape sky shot, plus a winter scene - by 2 diff folks, on Tadaa... They were like stained glass windows- really gorgeous - and I was so surprised to find they'd been made with what I'd thought was a cheesy overpriced app. Boy was I ever so glad to be wrong. This app can do anything but talk. So many different results. I like the softer effects on my cats - wow. The tiger effect is a little creepy extreme for me - but this app is capable of great subtlety & you won't be sorry if you buy it. It's addicting. Going crazy on my old photos now! Good job, Orange!

It takes a lot to actually get me to take the time to review and rate ANY app but I must say this is one of the smoothest, coolest and beautiful photo enhancing app I've ever seen in the App Store and I have tried and own most of them. Friends can't believe the pictures I've made with this app and keep asking me what I used, but or now I'm keeping it a secret so they still think I'm a photographic genius!!! GET THIS APP YOU WON'T REGET IT!!!!

Whether you want to turn your photo into fractal art, an old-style wood carving or a piece from Van Gogh, this app has it all. Unlimited adjustments to multiple aspects of the app allows you to find your 'look' and tweak your creation to the extreme. So unique, you'll be blown away by the gorgeous things you can come up with. Such a refreshing tool to have found- it's my go-to app for my photos. Love it, love it, love it!!!

This app is an excellent app. I honestly believe that the ability to create a painterly effect is totally by accident, however this app seems to beat out all of the other apps that attempt to make photographs look like paintings. A little tweaking and I have had several people on IG ask how long it took me "to paint those pictures?". Seriously.

Only two complaints:

- the preview does not correspond as closely to the final output as it perhaps should (seems like the scale should be automatically adjusted when changing resolution to better match the same look and feel, I don't think it does that right now).

- there doesn't seem to be any way to save your settings. There are just enough controls and finesse required in the settings to make user-saved presets really useful. I don't see myself using the default ones nearly as often as trying to recreate some of my own settings over and over manually (which isn't the most efficient way to work!).

I'm adding on comments because my mind is blown by these effects. Look at the sample pics and realize that this is for real. I'm even taking pictures of stupid stuff even just because EVERYTHING looks so cool with this app. Do you see how the sample tigers head has tons of detail and cavities like you could climb inside? It is for real, you can do this and many equally high quality variants with multiple controls per effect. This is the coolest effects app by soooooo far. TRY EXPORTING IN FULL/Highest QUALITY. it is crazy to just study pictures after processing.

These effacts are unique, and the coolest I've ever seen any iPhone app. It's not too often I say wow that was worth two bucks. But this time I would've said wow that was with four bucks. There's only about 10-15 effects so far, but these FX put this app in a field by itself. The dimension and detail of the effects are so crazy.

It's very easy and intuitive to use this app and the results unique and interesting. I would love to have these filters integrated into an app like PhotoToaster or another mainstream editor, but I haven't found anything quite like Tangled FX.

Since it isn't just another set of run-of-the-mill set of filters, I found it worth the $1.99 I paid for it.

I would like to say thanks for the loss of sleep I suffered last night after discovering this app. Lots of fun, addicting, creative filters bringing wild and cool life to any picture with the touch of a filter button. Especially enjoy the ability to customize your photos within each stock filter setting.

Ok so I NEVER bother to write reviews but I do feel the need to say something about this app. It is AMAZING! I would have payed $5 or even $10 for this. Once you really start toying with this app the results you can get are UNREAL. Downright incredible program. My Instagram feed will soon be flooded with redo's of all of my favorite images. I photograph reptiles and amphibians all of the time and I love to import the images onto my phone and play around with them. I know a lot of people worry about fake reviews but this one is totally legit! My Instagram handle is asnakelovinbabe. Please keep working on this app! I would really love to see some more features, especially being able to see changes happen in advanced settings. The advanced settings are nice but it's kind of annoying to keep bringing them up and reloading the picture. But it's a minor flaw. LOVE THIS APP!

At first I thought this would be a one trick pony but after using it for a couple of days, I realized that there is a rich and complex algorithm at work.

Is there a photo that doesn't benefit from a run through with this app? The effects are just unbelievable. Surreal and creepy. Beautiful and enchanting. No end of possibilities with the options available. I especially like the advance mode.

My only critique is that you can't currently save your custom settings. This is a minor quibble for such a terrific app. Kudos to the developer.

Totally in love with this app! Have been messing around the entire afternoon with it. My poor instagram feed is flooded with Tangled FX pics. My only complaint is that I wish there was a way to see the changes you are making on the advanced settings as you're doing them as well as being able to stop the fx when you get to something awesome. I have a good collection of apps that take my iPhone pics and apply assorted effects. It's been an evolution for sure... I was pretty psyched to discover Glaze recently but I honestly have to rate Tangle above ALL of painting-type effects apps I've ever tried. I've been a graphic artist for 30+ years and I am blown away by the ease with which you can take a normal pic and transform it into any number of very graphically beautiful images. Everyone is looking for different effects-I like Glaze, ToonPaint or Percolate.

Tangle is very cool, fun, absorbing and creative! I look forward to turning my images into magnets or stickers or jewelry. A very well spent $1.99!!!

I've been looking for a good photo app the last few days to purchase and they are all pretty much the same thing with only a different name and price. I can across this and saw it had 5 stars and great reviews; I went for it. I can say this app is amazing! It gave me a kid smile because its definitely different and unique. I'd give this app ten stars if I could. This is the best app I found since PhotoTropedic and Mobile Monet. Not only are the effects incredible, the interface is very well done and I just love and appreciate the fine tuning controls. I get frustrated with filter apps that just have an effect without the ability of adjustments. I know I'll spend hours with this one. Great job!
