Google Maps

Street View Navigation Google Maps on iPhone allows you to "instantly travel" to a new point on the road using its Street View feature. While in Street View, you can tap further down the road (often represented by a faint 'X' or simply by clicking a spot in the distance) to jump to that location. this feature is not working anymore can anyone tell me why? it used to work just like desktop. now you must keep double tapping to move forward and backwards and it takes forever if you want to look somewhere a mile down the road!! you used to be able to just tap on that location on the top map and the cursor would move and show you that this does not work anymore very frustrating

STOP CHANGING MY ROUTE!

I’m a truck driver so i literally use maps everyday and though i find it pretty streamline most of the time, the fact that i can pick the SPECIFIC route i want to go at the start of my journey, mostly to keep me on the interstate, then maps AUTOMATICALLY changes it to the ‘fastest’ route is beyond annoying. I’m not sure whose idea that was but it was NOT a good one. After people pick their route it’s probably safe to assume that’s the way they want to go. To add insult to injury if you’re driving already and it finds a faster route why does it automatically switch it and if you decline the faster route why does it keep offering it? I’ve looked through the settings and it doesn’t appear to be a way to turn this off. Also also if there are reports of police why does the map remove the posted speed limit? You guys should fix that too

Potential upgrades

So I absolutely love Google Maps I actually like it way better than the maps I come on the Apple iPhone, and the only thing that I wish it had is the speed speedometer regardless if you have a destination or not, I have a lifted truck and my speedometer is off between 10 and 12 miles per hour, so looking at my speed gauge doesn’t work obviously I can have my truck tuned to fix this issue, but it would still be a nice feature to have that. The other thing is when you are in Apple CarPlay mode let’s say I’m a I am a home improvement contractor and so one thing that my clients appreciate is me sending them my location when I am in route so that they can watch basically my drive up to the point when I pull up so it would be nice to be able to send them my location once I’m in route like while I’m driving the work around that I do constantly is I sit in my truck I put in the destination before I turn on my truck and I send them my location so that I’m doing it before it links up to Apple CarPlay. I don’t even know if that makes sense to anybody, but yeah, the workaround is not turning on your vehicle or allowing your phone to go onto Apple CarPlay mode because I’m assuming it’s a safety feature. typically I use Waze when I’m going to my in-home consultation because not only does it have that speedometer 24 seven rather I have a destination or not it also allows me to send whomever my location when I’m in route at any point of the route, something to think about

是功能比较齐全的地图APP。非常好用。建议:修正中文的数字发音。用中文语音导航时,当遇到高速公路时,报出的号码发音常常不对,比如101、85、237等等。常常听不懂说的是什么。

Stop censoring information

Google has a problem with censoring valuable information in Google reviews. I left a valid review, carefully worded and I’m still being shadow banned without being given an actual reason. Meanwhile they allow actual scam businesses to stay on their site and take advantage of people who don’t know any better.
Google censors valuable information that can help people, instead it causes division.

Ugh

What once was a good driving app has lately produced incorrect directions with incorrect arrival locations in New York, Maine, and Vermont.
That leaves a UI inferior to that of Apple Maps, searching that is cluttered with advertised places, and little reason to choose Google Maps these days … unless you like being monetized by the world’s biggest ad agency.

Google Maps has fallen behind

For years Google Maps was the go to option for navigation back when Apple Maps was a mess and there weren’t any great alternatives. But Google Maps has barely been meaningfully updated since and it shows. First off, the navigation voice hasn’t changed in years, and Google hasn’t added options for other voices. This isn’t a huge deal on its own, but Google has the resources to fix this, and Apple Maps at least uses the Siri voice you pick, so Google Maps only having one voice is kind of weird in 2026. Second, I find that Google Maps has a really cluttered UI. All of the businesses, landmarks, etc. are there, but they clutter the UI unnecessarily and make it weird to explore. Same deal with the road signs, which still use a generic cutout to resemble interstates, US, state and county roads if you are in the United States, where Apple Maps actually has real images of the actual road signs for said roads. Google Maps’ satellite maps also haven’t aged the best and I find that they are pretty blurry. I know this isn’t the default for most people but I personally like looking at satellite maps, and Google has fallen behind on making good ones. To Google Maps’ credit, having Google reviews baked right in, along with plenty of user data is helpful, but it doesn’t make up with the outdated nature of this app.

Rare Honest Movers

Are you looking for an honest mover? One who not only works hard but always puts your best interests first? These are your movers. I hired them for a cross country move- NJ to TX. Josh was in charge is my move. He showed up on time, got everything loaded and even when we ran into some unexpected challenges they were able to find a solution quickly. These guys understand the mission and treat you with nothing but respect. When we got to TX there were even more unexpected challenges, as our house closing date had to change. Gabe the owner of SM got online and found me a storage unit to fit all of my belongings and then helped me find a local mover to help me when I was finally able to close. Did I mention the part where SM goes above and beyond? Moving is stressful and hard the only part of my move that I didn’t have to worry about were the parts related to Smooth Movers. I can tell you this much I will never move without them. I will recommend them to everyone I know because they are the team you want working for you. Hire them you won’t regret it. But you will have regrets if you don’t because they are the best in the biz! I would give them all the stars.

Dangerously useless app (Unless you have a touchscreen in your car)

I thought this app was going to be better than apple maps and had heard high recommendations for it. Big mistake, this app has frustrated me like no other. The navigation voice is very late, I often have to switch lanes at the last second cutting a bunch of people off or look at my phone (which is very dangerous because I have to unlock my phone in order to even see my route) because It only tells you the turn when you’re at it. Also the voice malfunctions and has lead me in circles, or it just will stop speaking; This app alone has gotten me close to getting into an accident. Also, it just has bad routes. The first suggestion for my route is always confusing and longer so I just end up having to choose a better one manually. It has also lead me to blocked off roads under construction. And it takes forever to reroute, often telling me the new route after I’ve already passed it. It doesn’t notify you of speed traps either. Thats partly why I downloaded this app because I thought that was useful, but it doesn’t even work I have never once been notified of a speed trap (for context I live in Tucson so there are DEFINITELY speed traps here). It’s just a POS app and a waste of time/gas. It’s completely useless for anyone who doesn’t have a touchscreen in their car (who are probably the same people recommending this garbage). Anyway i’m going back to the default maps, just had to rant about this.

Miss the old app

The new app has some great features. However, I miss one of my lock screen is on being able to open my phone and see the map on the lock screen.. They should reinstall the option as now I have to open lock screen slide open to my home screen to see the map and it’s an extra step. I really don’t want to take while trying to navigate and drive my car. I also don’t like that when I put in an address for a hotel, instead of just giving me the option to start directions, it showed me several hotels that were additional options. I just want directions to the address I asked for. Also, I wish they would give an option to start directions right away instead of having to search for it. Additionally, I wish they would give a pause button for when you pull off to a restaurant or to get gas, and then a resume button so the voice doesn’t yak at you telling you how to get back on the road when you just need to get gas. Other than that, I really do love the Google map app better than other map apps.

JR

I’ve been a patient of Doctor Mojtabavi since 1989. I’m a former nurse, longtime caregiver for three family members and have been ill several times myself myself. He is the finest physician I’ve ever known. His diagnoses are always exactly correct. He’s understanding and caring. Do be aware he has a very, very busy practice as well as being emergency room attending at Mountain View Hospital which is in the hospital adjacent to Mountain View musical office building.I’ve learned that the wait to see him can be long. But I make allowances for that and just don’t schedule things that conflict with an appointment. He answers questions patiently and completely. The only reason I can think of is someone might find him adamant to abrupt (as I’ve seen a couple of reviews) is that a patient may ask for his opinion, but if they don’t like it and tries to disagree, expect him to stand by his decisions. That is when it’s the patient’s responsibility to to seek a second opinion! Personally, I trust him with whatever information I receive or ask him to explain in detail when he’s of the opinion he is. He always takes time to do that. Lastly, his referrals to other specialties have been the absolute best. Be polite to his staff. They’re efficient and knowledgeable but are quite busy.

Go back to old satellite view in car play

I’ve used Google Maps exclusively for years for navigation and for finding restaurants, hotels, entertainment and just anything nearby in general with reviews and photos, excellent app in this regard and far superior to Apple Maps, trip advisor, yelp, and others.
However, about 2 weeks ago, when I have a destination set for navigation in car play in satellite view, all buildings are now 3d white blocks of their footprint on the map rather than the former satellite view. I absolutely hate this and find it disorienting, overly busy at times and lacking in the detail provided by the former aerial satellite view, please either revert back to the old satellite map style during navigation or provide and intuitive option to switch between the satellite view and the view with the 3d white blocks overlayed, you could do this in a way similar to enabling and disabling the colored traffic indicators over the roadway. This change has been extremely frustrating.
It only does this when I am actively using it to navigate to a set destination, it still displays the old satellite view when I’m driving around without a set destination.

Can we choose which alerts we get

I’m a truck driver I use this app to supplement my truck gps. I really need it for an object in road and police ahead. Both have saved me many times. However being a professional driver I don’t need the insane amount of direction from the app. So I have it on alert only. But I don’t need lane closures, construction ahead, low visibility. There are tons of signs for the first 2 with flashing lights. And seriously low visibility not once was there low enough visibility for this alert. And this one repeats and repeats and repeats. Get the point. Fog is not like a tire in the road where you need an alert. It kinda is in the air and sometimes it’s more dense but it’s not like you can’t see it before the alerts anyway.
Please consider maybe giving us the choice of what alerts we get or ask around you don’t need those alerts I mentioned. Like the disabled vehicle alert you used to use that disappeared. Believe me nobody misses that.
Also maybe create a professional or minimal directions choice. I see you have a more directions choice. I can’t imagine how that is compared to the already insane amount of directions you already give. Pull into a truck stop fuel island and see how crazy it gets

App is useless for navigation

The last 3 updates have caused a once venerable navigation app to become one that almost completely covers roads with stupid businesses as it panders to their advertising. Why would I care about reviews of a restaurant or business somewhere I’ve never been if I can’t see how to actually get there? The second I tap to close all that useless info, the map directions I need for the place I did want to go to disappear. Ridiculous! And gone is the handy Measure Distance that one could use to determine mileage for a local neighborhood walk that would take me possibly 20 turns on local blocks…I certainly don’t want to try to tap 20 red dots on the site for it to calculate that. It says to use one red dot to start out, and wiggle the dot up or down to see Measure Distance, but the dot merely disappears if I try that. And I cannot clear the “nearby suggested businesses” overlay that takes up 2/3 of the screen. Even more ridiculous. So much for Google Maps being a useful navigation tool about maps. Nope. It needs to change its name to Google Yelp. Thankfully, there is Apple Maps, which actually is a navigation tool now. I had avoided it for years because initially it was awful compared to Google Maps. Now the reverse is true. And there are countless other navigation apps to use as well…no matter how small, they are all now far superior to the garbage Google is putting out.

Disappointed

I’ve been a loyal google maps for the last 9 years (so basically since I’ve started driving) but I’ve noticed the navigation notifications have been incredibly confusing in the last few months, and I’m tempted to move to Waze or Apple Maps. It will tell me to stay straight on a highway for 8 miles, but then tell me that I have an exit in 0.4 miles with no notice, and I suddenly have to move 4 lanes to the right in the next 30 or so seconds. I would have much rather been notified about the exit 2 miles ago. I can’t imagine being a new driver while using Google maps. Even today, I was navigating to a new place, and was told in the notes to stay on a highway, but to take the right to lanes, but the right two lanes were exiting to another highway. Turns out I was supposed to merge onto the other highway, but that was not communicated in the notes. I know that I haven’t been the only one who has noticed the decline in Google maps’ performance because I have discussed this with multiple different people who have also been loyal Google maps users. Not sure what has happened, but maybe the worse working conditions for Google engineers since all of the layoffs is having this negative affect on the quality of their product.

Full Clarity

I will start this off by saying when I decided to get help for my disease, I didn’t understand it was a disease and my own idea was I just need to get away from my D.O.C. where I wouldn’t have access to have it. I “believed” that I could stay for the period of time away and I would have no problem going back into society with just Will power. 21 days can break a habit or make a habit was my belief. I owe it and want to thank Banyan for completing changing my own ideology and more than likely saving my life and allowing me to actually achieve my goals I had previously set before I became an addict. I truly didn’t believe I would learn anything when I was coming here and I’m blessed to say I was COMPLETELY wrong! This place just doesn’t focus on drugs and alcohol, they help you understand the full mental health of your scenario which was EYE OPENING for me. I could have went to any rehab I wanted too, but God gave me a message to come here I didn’t know why at the time, I just listened and knew he had his reasons! God was 100% right! I genuinely believe that I wouldn’t have learned anything like how I have here based on people past experiences at other rehabs. I’m blessed to say I’m forever grateful I listened and went to this facility. I would recommend anyone that is struggling with their disease to choose Banyan. As stubborn as I am, as independent I am, how I’ve always knew what I was doing, they have completely given me Clarity and I appreciate it. Thanks.

I Love this Chinese Gentle Touch Massage!

Last Saturday, As soon as I walked into that Store, Clean and Comfortable air and environmental setting went into my eyes and Heart with peace and joy right away. Later on, when I went to single massage room, I felt cozy and comfy. The massage store owner LiJun(Yan) did 3 methods towards my back for my blood circulation! First was professional cupping set, second was very right temperature stone treatment towards my coldness, later one was her target massage knowledge and skill sets about my neck, right shoulder, lower back, two legs and ankles. Barry Paley, Team Paley of Keller Williams Points North : Ashley Knox- outstanding Real Estate Agent

I’m absolutely thrilled to share my experience working with Ashley Knox from Team Paley of Keller Williams Points North. As a rising star in the real estate world, Ashley played an integral role in helping me find a stunning townhouse that checked off every box—modern amenities, a gorgeous layout, and everything I dreamed of in my new home.
From our very first meeting, Ashley demonstrated impressive market expertise, effortless communication, and unwavering dedication. She listened carefully to my priorities, scheduled showings in a timely fashion, and made sure I had all the details I needed to make an informed decision. Her professionalism combined with genuine warmth made the process straightforward and stress-free.
I couldn’t be happier with the final outcome. Thanks to Ashley’s responsiveness and tireless advocacy, I secured a property that not only met—but exceeded—my expectations. I highly recommend Ashley Knox to anyone in the market for a home. She’s not just a real estate agent—she’s an exceptional partner-and a key member of Team Paley. I look forward to working with her again in the future!

Rerouting

I’ve preferred using google maps over Apple for years! Google is much better at offering rerouting when the time calls for it. However, I have grown increasingly frustrated with the toll road reroutes. I am someone who will take a toll road if I’m on a time crunch or if it saves me more than 5 minutes of my time so I have my toll option on on my preferences. Call it a first world problem but I don’t think I should be having to go into my preferences every time to avoid a toll road. A quick toggle or something would be an improvement. I know it gives you an option to decline a reroute BUT if I’m driving and there is no traffic and I have to pay attention to the road like a good driver I can’t keep glancing at my maps in case the app decides to reroute me through a path that only saves me 2 minutes at a cost to my own wallet. At this point I find it more convenient to still use my Apple Maps app and leave the avoid toll road preference on and switch between the two apps rather having to dig through Google settings every time I drive somewhere

No One Can Compare

I lost my right leg in 2010 and used a popular company in Charlotte who provided my prosthetic leg. The legs I received from them never fit properly and were not very comfortable. In March, I lost my left leg. 50, and I’m now a double amputee. As you can imagine I was completely devastated! But God had a plan for my life. Just hours after my surgery ALEX, the owner of OrthoFit came to vist me and my family in my hospital room. He offered his help and committed to helping me walk again. He and his amazing staff worked with me every week until the moment they gave me the ability to walk again. Today, I’m proud to say I am able to walk with no support. My prosthetic legs are high quality, fit so well and the design I chose was very creative. They captured exactly what I wanted. I can’t tell you how important OrthoFit has been to my care plan. If you are looking for a company that will be there every step of your journey and really care about how you feel, you have found the right company. Thank you Alex, Seth, Matt & everyone behind the scenes. You have given me my life back.

More than photos

I don’t even know where to begin—this photography experience was everything I didn’t know I needed. As a woman stepping into a new chapter, outside of my comfort zone and trying to rediscover myself, Sandra and her assistant created a space that felt safe, sacred, and honestly… magical.
From the moment I walked in, I felt seen—not just physically, but emotionally. This wasn’t just about taking pretty pictures. It was about capturing the version of me I’m becoming: confident, radiant, soft and powerful. Sandra guided me through the session with kindness, patience, and just the right amount of hype-girl energy that made me feel like I was glowing from the inside out.
Privacy was clearly a priority—every detail was handled with professionalism and care, and I never once felt exposed or uncomfortable. Instead, I felt protected and celebrated.
This shoot helped me fall in love with parts of myself I’d forgotten, and introduced me to parts I hadn’t met yet. If you’re a woman ready to reconnect with yourself, explore your femininity, and step boldly into a new version of you—this is your sign. Book the session. You won’t regret it.

Toddler Approved

My just-turned 2 year old was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes six months ago. The admission to the hospital and stay was a traumatic experience for him, especially with putting an IV in and continuous blood draws (took them at least 5 times and sedation to get it in at All Children’s) With the life-long diagnosis, we will need continuous labs and blood draws. This was our first set of blood draw labs prescribed after diagnosis outside of the hospital setting and I was terrified. My baby has been through so much in the past six months and with the stress of doctors and needles, I knew bringing him to QUEST for the blood draw would be a nightmare. A friend recommended Fast Draw Express and they were truly a gift from heaven!! They came to our house, where my son was most comfortable, were great with strategies to keep him calm, and that needle went in quick and painless as can be. He needed like 6 or more vials drawn and he barely whimpered with the needle insert and immediately stopped crying and was calm and fine while the vials were filled. This is an EXCEPTIONAL service with EXCEPTIONAL service. I will use it over and over any time he needs blood drawn. If you have Littles, with similar stressors or experiences or just Littles in general or anyone any age who doesn’t like blood draws… I recommend Fast Draw Express a million times, no hesitation. You will not regret it. Thank you Fast Draw Express for taking a weight off my chest!!! I am so grateful!

Rented a 6x12 trailer with ramp

I had a great experience renting the trailer I needed to purchase and relocate a golf cart from Lancaster, PA down to Somers Point, NJ.
I chose this location because the staff here were very helpful 7 years earlier and I was hoping for a similar experience. Things couldn’t have gone better. I stopped by Wednesday to explain my needs and the associate there made my reservation for the trailer I’d need for a Thursday night pickup to be used and returned Friday night.
When I arrived Thursday night Bruce got me papered up and made sure I had everything I needed to be on my way. He even worked with me to adjust a different ball onto the hitch as the initial hookup rode a little low. It was a busy night and he was able to accommodate several other customers and did a great job getting all of us squared away.
The equipment worked great! I was able to make the run Friday morning and move the cart down to the shore and return by closing.
Bruce was there again and helped me get checked back in ( in pouring rain) all the while with a pleasant demeanor. I’d highly recommend this Uhaul location. Very accommodating and professional assistance along with quality equipment.

A1 Garage Door Service

I have been sitting on this review for a week partially because I was so overwhelmed by the experience and partially because capturing my experience with Cody Calhoun goes beyond words. My home is fourteen years old and everything that can fall apart has been, getting a new garage door was not in the plans. When Cody Calhoun came to look at my garage door last Saturday he was professional kind and informative but once he gave me an estimate it was more than I could do and feeling defeated I let him know that I couldn’t make it happen. Cody could have said goodbye, could have walked away leaving me with an open and broken garage door, but he didn’t. He stood in my garage after I said goodbye and allowed compassion to lead the way. He didn’t look for the sale as much as he did the solution and a desire to make a difference and because of his heart choice I have a beautiful new garage coming and one less worry to carry. Cody also called another technician to help him close my garage door so our home would be safe until a new garage door could be put in. Everyone with A1 Garage was professional and kind and communicated in a timely basis and I have shared my experience verbally a few times since last Saturday.
I can’t thank Cody enough for showing up not only to do his job which he is extremely good at, but to make a difference.

Highly Discriminatory and Unprofessional Personnel

I was given a job offer after attending a company job fair. Mark in HR purposefully and maliciously scheduled processes in my onboarding (i.e., drug screening and physical examination) to take place over 28 hours away which is outside of routine practice. I was kind and polite in raising my concerns about this. I was given false excuses as to why he could not reschedule it for over a month and mocked for my higher education credentials for no reason. I wanted to work here to save for my bar exam and cover living expenses. Before coming to the plant in-person to speak with him about this matter, I called Penny at the company’s headquarters to see if she could help. She neither helped nor investigated the matter. Upon arrival, Mark left me in the lobby while I saw him sitting in his office not doing anything so that he could abuse his authority after the plant closed behind closed doors with no witnesses except for John (i.e., an ally to his discrimination). By merely asking about the rescheduling and having a desire to work, he fabricated a story about me being rude and immediately drafted a letter rescinding the offer instead of merely scheduling me at a location in town like everyone else. Systematic racism (regardless of color)c discrimination, and barriers to entry like this still exist and companies are either unaware or silently consenting to allowing people to do things like this and its sad.

Wrong directions, daily

EVERY SINGLE DAY I report that the destination to my own home is blatantly WRONG and adds several minutes and you have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It has been YEARS and HUNDREDS OF REPORTS of “inaccurate entrance” and its corrections. Why do you even ask? Not only that, directions elsewhere are constantly wrong. Especially for turns. It will say specifically choose this turn lane instead of the correct and safe turn lane when this lane sends you shooting across traffic for dangerous maneuvers. Separately, it will regularly tell you to “go straight on the huge interstate you’re on” before extremely abruptly telling you to cross 3-5 lanes of traffic to exit immediately. “Continue straight” is NOT a direction I need. And if I ever choose a different route than the primary one, it will constantly change me back to the route you want me on, so I have to constantly adjust the app WHILE I AM DRIVING. Sometimes it’s 10, 15+ times changing my selected route. This is also extremely dangerous. How many drivers and passengers have DIED from your inadequacies? Also, bicycle-specific directions are absolutely awful. I’ve logged literally 40,000+ miles by bicycle alone so I’ve also used Google Maps’ bicycle features extensively. Google Maps will still take me on either completely inaccessible or blatantly illegal (trespassing) routes.

No longer reliable source of info

Google Maps is undeniably one of the most essential tools for navigation and exploration in today’s world. Its detailed maps, real-time traffic updates, and reliable directions make it an indispensable resource for millions of users. However, it’s time for Google to reflect on a deeper responsibility that comes with its position of power. In an age where misinformation and political manipulation are running rampant, it’s clear that platforms like Google have a crucial role to play in standing up for values like freedom, democracy, and human rights.
Google Maps should not only be a tool for navigating physical spaces but also an advocate for standing up to the spread of harmful ideologies, including fascism. The sheer reach of Google’s services gives it the power to influence society and its users. It’s high time the company takes a bold stance on these issues, enforcing its policies in a way that limits the spread of hate and discrimination in both its physical and digital spaces.
Google, with all its influence and innovation, must grow a pair and take a stand against dangerous forces that threaten the safety and rights of individuals. This isn’t just about being a neutral provider—it’s about taking an active role in shaping a world where equality, justice, and freedom are prioritized over convenience.

Nasrin is Awesome!

I recently visited Nasrin Hair Extension Salon, and I have to say, it was such a great experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a professional, welcoming atmosphere. The salon itself is impeccably clean, stylish, and exudes a sense of calm, which immediately put me at ease. What really stood out was the level of expertise and care that Nasrin provided. She took the time to listen to my hair goals and offered personalized recommendations tailored to my hair type and desired look. The consultation was thorough, and I never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision. The hair extensions themselves are top-notch. The quality of the hair is outstanding—soft, natural-looking, and blends seamlessly with your own hair. She is so good at explaining the process. I also appreciated how she took the time to educate me on proper care and maintenance, ensuring that I could keep my extensions looking beautiful long after my appointment. The overall experience was truly great. If you're looking for a salon that combines expertise, quality, and exceptional customer service, Nasrin Hair Extension Salon is the place to go.

CarePatrol-Bethany Domain

I can’t even begin to thank Bethany Domain from CarePatrol for all she did to help me find an assisted living facility for my mom who is in the late stages of Alzheimer’s disease. We knew mom would eventually need to go to assisted living but her disease progressed so rapidly in a very short time that we were in a panic to find someplace during the Christmas holidays. Bethany spent a long time on the phone with me going over my mom’s condition and explained different options and then asked about our budget. We didn't have a lot of money to work with, but Bethany went right to work and emailed me 5 places that she would refer mom to for me to look at. I wanted to see them all and Bethany was able to schedule 5 appointments on the same day the Friday before Christmas! She was so professional and supportive checking on me through the entire process and she was able to help my brother and I find a great option for my mom in a much shorter time than I ever could have imagined! We moved mom in today and we are very happy with her placement!

I LOVE the new features!

I love the new Google Maps features especially the notifications while driving that provide incredibly accurate!!options to: either select a better route to help avoid traffic delays, report a stalled vehicle, a speed trap, or accident. All good to improve the quality of time for travel. My only suggestion is visual for the car image. Like Apple has just released new voices by Gender and Country 😍 is it possible to PLEASE add new cars to watch it travel along on screen in Google Maps? I think children would love this and adults would find it fun too! Something like a little pink buggy, a motorcycle, a little sports car, or even a bike for those of us who bike 🙂 I also like to run 🏃‍♀️ in the morning, if you can make that little car icon change it’s form to a little runner AWESOME 🤩 this would really make the travel experience by vehicle or human so worth while as we would now be able to customize our user experience to a whole new level!!! BEWARE: Check the route before using!

I travel for work and use google maps bc they’re better than Apple which has led me to the wrong destinations. Albeit, Google has its serious cons. Google maps frequently has me take exits off the highway to drive through isolated areas on shift roads, then brings me back to the SAME HIGHWAY I was previously on. It’s routed me numerous times in this way and couldn’t possibly save me any driving time. Once I become more familiar with the area, I ignore it and find the trip is much simpler.
One of my trips were into a large city, rather than staying on the highway and a close exit next to the hospital, Google would have me take exits through dangerous parts of town. Abandoned streets. Places where it’s scary to stop at a red light or stop sign. It did this several times until I knew the area better, ignored the prompts and learned that the drive was much easier than I had been previously lead.
Recently, I traveled to the mountains and unlike the first time where I stayed mostly on highways, Google lead me through isolated areas with no service for several miles. Low overhanging branches were hitting my vehicle.
It would be great if Google had a safety feature to prevent unnecessary routes into or through potentially dangerous areas. If I broke down, I would’ve been screwed.

Please make Google Maps great again

Google Maps doesn’t recognize when you’re driving the HOV/carpool lane and keeps trying to reroute you - now that Apple’s Maps app includes this data, I’ve all but shelved Google’s.
Another issue I’ve had is when you’re going around a curve and can’t see what’s after it and you end up in the wrong lane at 80 mph - if Google could program the app to zoom out a little so you see what’s ahead, that would really help, too.
Finally, how about a little head’s up on the next step in the directions - rather than wait until the last minute? Example: you’re told to get off the freeway at the next exit but not told which lane to get in. Seconds after you take the exit, you’re then told to get in the left lane, but because of traffic, you’re stuck in the right at high speeds, etc, etc. If you already memorized the directions ahead of time, that’s great, but when you’re in an unfamiliar area and suddenly feel the need for some coffe or whatever, the stress alone can be enough to give up on the app forever…

Still buggy and not working after all these years!

Years ago I could type in the search a saved address I have (I’m always logged in and I have hundreds of saved addresses), and it would be at top of list right away, and for the last few years, it’s totally random if it will find the saved/labeled address. Half the time it does, half I have to manually look on the map and try to locate it manually and zoom in til I can find it, and of course it’s right there- saved/starred, and that can make the difference between being late or almost crashing when trying to do it while driving.. I have sent feedback MANY times to Google and they have never responded or fixed it. Also, near my home, Google Maps always tells me to go wrong way and basically go 4 extra blocks because it doesn’t know the streets that are direct, even though hundreds of people a day take same route. Very odd. I soooo don’t want to ever use Apple Maps, but why can’t Google Maps fix some basic things, especially since the app is updated basically every other day!???

This app is horrible

I dislike this app cause every time I go to use this app and I’m in a rush to get directions. The app always says that it needs to update. So imagine if I’m in a rush or an emergency and I gotta find directions fast, especially living in New York because you don’t want nobody to catch you with your phone now and God for bid beat you up, to take your phone or an emergency trying to look for directions and Google maps always lets you down every time I open the app when I just updated it already it’ll tell me I need to update it again thats unacceptable. google please fix. I’m very tech savvy. I feel like I know how to pay attention to these apps and how they work and this is definitely lacking. Another thing is that when u initially open app after I put address then it saids update every time when u finally get to the next step of the gps section the address u already put in , in the prior window disappears so then in that window u have to waste more time to re input the address when in rush that’s absurd the address is supposed to already be displayed as it has at times but now it doesn’t u have to resubmit address again. & don’t hit the back button then it goes bak to google the address disappears and u hav to start all over again!

2024-05-12

Let me begin...

There was no reason to force an update with barely any cell service when it was not required, or even put as a notice of being a concern, that morning. There was no reason to force all attempts at getting directions to enter the App Store after the update finally went through. There was never any reason for directions to be chosen, start on the trip, and then being forced to go the way you intentionally did not pick to begin with partway. There is no reason that the name of some business you have never cared to know of twenty MILES in the wrong direction is so large it covers your route options when zoomed in and away from it, nor should those letters be links to add it as an additional stop. Google maps has more than a decade of updating to know how m: not to screw up personal settings; not force an update in low data/dead zones; not constantly reroute to horrendous traffic areas you did not select; not autocorrect to the wrong address when you have typed and selected the correct one; not constantly push you into the App Store after finally getting it to download an unnecessary update that proceeds to flip flop worse than a fish out of water. If the update are truly necessary, it should be when the system is not being used and set as a reminder at the end of the session.
Is it actually necessary?

Too many incorrectly positioned address markers

In my city, Concord, NH, there are way too many incorrectly placed address markers. It is like someone took the map and shook it like crazy and all of the versions of the addresses with abbreviated street suffixes were scattered to random places in the city and the versions with the fully written out street suffixes stayed in the right place. If you search my city and zoom in until you can see the numbers on houses and drag around the different neighbourhoods, you will find countless houses with 2 different numbers on them (one of them will be correct and the other one will list information for a street that isn’t anywhere close to where it showing, which you can find the correct location for if you type in the fully written out street suffix). You can also find other ones in random places where there is no house. When you use the “fix an address” tool in the app and it gets approved, in your contributions section it labels it as “new address added” and the incorrect address marker still remains where it was, causing the same problem. They need to add a tool to report bad address markers that just need to be removed, so us volunteer contributors can fix the map for the people that don’t already know how to get where they are going without the navigation system.

Google Google Google…..come on

Every time I click on directions from Google, it asks me, do I want smarter and better and faster maps? Of course I do. So I can click a button and go straight to Google maps, an app I already have. Every time I click this tho, it does not bring me to Google maps. I click open maps, and I am brought to the App Store maps. Even tho I have the app. Then I open maps from the App Store and it has erased the directions I need so I have to go back to Google and then just type it in to Google maps myself. I might as well just use the maps app that comes with the phone bc instead of a short cut it takes me here every time. So every time I click for directions Google brings me to the App Store instead of pulling up the directions in the Google maps app. And then when opening the maps app from here it does not have any addresses saved from the google search I started with. Just not as convenient as the maps app already in my phone honestly. It’s actually wildly inconvenient when I’m running late and forget that the short cut will actually slow me down! Maybe this is more an issue with the directions button on Google not working (since it doesn’t take me to the actual Google maps app), but it brought me here so I’m leaving my review here. Every time it brings me here I leave one star.

Beyond horrible walking directions, convoluted GUI

Whatever happened to the simple, reliable, and easy to use Google maps of yore?! Why bury simple features like dropping a pin for my parked location in endless menus never to be found again? Anyway, walking directions are mostly useless. I have to walk the wrong way for a while before the map will recognize my direction of travel. Even when it figures out which direction I’m walking, my location is inaccurate and/or the directional arrow will seemingly lock in the wrong direction. Once you realize you’re walking the wrong way, you have to exit guidance and restart it to redirect yourself. It won’t automatically reroute like driving directions. Take a clue from Naver Maps from South Korea. Naver Maps knows my walking direction of travel EVEN when standing still 100% of the time. Only plus is the spoken directions when driving is a bit more thorough than Apple Maps. I know these complaints/suggestions will fall on deaf ears at Google since the general trend with the developers there is to make the user experience as complicated as possible. Anyway, I’m walking around lost again hoping Google Maps will eventually route me in the right direction before my battery dies…

Google gets you lost

Update: google maps is unusable on Apple Devices. Everytime you click “directions” on a website, google asks you to update. Then you update and it still won’t open, just kicks you back to the update screen. It’s trash. Because if you click “open” it doesn’t open the directions you have already googled in the first place. You’ve got to go back to where you found it, copy it, then go back into google to add it in and search, only to be told you need another update! I’ve updated 7 times today and still can’t get the directions.
First review: I've used google maps for driving directions with great accuracy in the past, but on a recent trip to Boston, the walking directions were horrible! They took us off road and through the grass in Boston Common even suggesting a path directly across the pond. It doesn't adhere to sidewalks or legal crosswalks and the "you are here" icon jumps around madly as though we were transporting all over the city while standing in place. But, we kept trying because Google worked so well in a car in New Orleans... The last straw was when it advised us to take the subway and the exit it said we should get off on was super sketchy and we got creeped on by some freak in an abandoned subway station.

Almost perfect

I have been using Google Maps for years and it is my go to mapping and navigation app for the most part. But I have two constant problems with that really bug me. Number one, I use it on my iPhone for navigation while driving and the screen eventually goes black/goes to sleep. Maybe it’s because Apple wants us to use their maps, but I noticed that it does not happen with Waze either, it only seems to happen with Google maps where the screen does not stay illuminated unless you change your phone settings so that your phone never goes to sleep after a while. My other major issue (that I’ve submitted a complaint about and has not been changed) is that when you are using street view on a computer or on a phone and you’re traveling down the street and cross any type of bridge it always jumps down to the lower level. I live in Boston and the main highway that goes through the city is underground and it’s almost impossible to travel along surface roads without it jumping into the tunnel. I wish there was a way to control this!

Search criteria and suggestions need improvement in personalization

It’s disappointing that in the suggested topics to search “apparel” comes up before “gas”. The suggestions are just weird. I wish these were customizable as well as other search filters. Like, if I’m searching for a place to eat the criteria is relatively the same: low fodmap, gluten-free, vegan, low-to-mid price range, and open for at least the next hour. I am disappointed that the restaurant search filters include “American” or “Italian”. My dudes, I’m looking to feel good after I eat. I am so sick of the rabbit hole searching to find a gluten free place to eat. If I search gluten free the results still require work on my end. I think this should be a simple thing to do for both GF and Dairy Free. It’s so annoying to pull up like 6+ menu’s before finding a spot to eat. Like it takes a half hour just to figure out where to go, and then time to get there and time to order and time to wait for food. In the end it’s about 60-90 minutes from finding where the food is and then having it. It’s 2023… I think we can do better than this!

Good for new neighborhoods

Doing instacart in my hometown, there is a neighborhood which is only partly built. Apple Maps does not understand this for whatever reason and takes me to incorrect addresses. A customer recommended google maps, and while google maps does in fact find the correct addresses and navigate me there, the sound of the person sounds somewhat muffled. The music volume goes down so that I can get directions from the voice person from google maps, but it’s hard to hear. My music is at a comfortable loudness and I’d rather not turn that up just to hear the GPS, whose level of muffled mumbling wouldn’t be affected as this isn’t a volume issue. There was one street where the gps didn’t tell me the turn was upcoming until I was so close to it that I would miss it, and I wish the app would tell me the next street I would turn at immediately after the current turn, rather than “in _____feet, turn ___ on ___.” Google maps also doesn’t seem to have speed limits posted on my screen, which I know is a me problem and not a gps problem, but I like to see the speed limit on my screen when I look. Otherwise I mean I got where I needed to go

Dangerous

Google maps used to be great, but it tries to reroute you now, for no reason. It will send you down a one way street the wrong way, it will ask you to make a u-turn on a highway, ask you to take a black diamond 4x4 trail, when there is a paved road to the highway (luckily I knew the area, anyone else would have to call search and rescue), and recently expected me to make a right turn into a brick wall. Luckily I have eyes and used my own judgment. If you have car play, and for example sitting at a red light, it will remind you what you need to do next by scrolling the directions, which is an unnecessary visual distraction, even though the directions have not changed. For example, if you are at a light or driving on the same road for a distance, it scrolls as if the directions are updating (make a left turn in 50ft, make a left turn in 50 ft, make a left turn in 50ft), but it’s just I guess reminding you that you still have to make that turn or keep driving down that road. Only thing its good for is knowing when you will arrive somewhere, where you already know the directions too. I wouldn’t use it to navigate in unknown areas. Unfortunately had to switch to clunky Apple Maps, but at least that app won’t tell you to drive off of a cliff.

nearly crashed my car due to horrible new UI

You don’t realize how much you rely on the easy, fast-to-understand visual of a blue line on a gray and slate map — until, that is, some misguided Google designer messes with it. Recently that bright blue line that designates your route was replaced (at least sometimes) with a gray line. On a slate background (this is in dark mode), with every other road on the map also showing as gray lines. Oh, and the “alternative routes” constantly shown? Also gray lines. Brilliant idea, Google.
So suddenly you look at your map to see how many cross-streets or signals before your turn and *poof* you can’t even tell what road you’re on, much less when you should be turning. So you stare a little harder, focus a little more, trying to make sense of a suddenly unfathomable map, eyes off the road for increasingly long periods of time (instead of the half second glances that previously sufficed, no different than looking over at a side mirror or at the AC controls as you flip them) — then BAM you veered too far, into oncoming traffic, your car is totaled and you’re dead. Thanks, Google. Great UI update.
(Obviously I didn’t *die*, but I was definitely distracted, confused, and less confident in my driving and my route. Once again: great UI update, Google.)

Occasionally Infuriating

Google maps, *please please please* give options to avoid certain routes or choose what kind of vehicle you are in!!!!! I have to manually find stops along routes to avoid certain highways and freeways I know I can’t use while towing or with a box truck!!!!! Also WHY MUST YOU ALWAYS GO THROUGH THE GEORGE WASHINGTON MEMORIAL BRIDGE!!!!!!! Even if I input a location just on the other side of the tappan zee bridge, you have us go across the GW! I miss how customizable google maps used to be, but now I need to make sure to plan any long routes hours in advance and know all of the places I need to input to get the route I want. Also, obnoxiously enough, you randomly put in places to get off highways, make a u turn and go directly back on the highway! For quick, direct, simple directions, google maps is what I rely on, but I know it will always drive me crazy to use for long trips. PLEASE ALLOW INPUT TO AVOID CERTAIN HIGHWAYS WITH KNOWN RESTRICTIONS!!!
Update-
How is it that Google maps has gotten worse in directions since it began?! Far too often I will be told to turn without being told the street name when there are two streets back to back with less than 5 feet between them. That and there are far too many times when they will actually give incorrect directions!

Worthless App

I use to use this for ride share and once I press navigate from the ride share app it’s supposed to switch to google maps and tell me where to go but on some days it wont load, just keeps turning and turning like it’s trying to load something but nothing happens. After several tries of closing the app and opening it up again it loads and when it finally loads up where to go it’s just a blur line with all the details in the map missing because of this I have turned on the wrong street several times. Also do you know how embarrassing it is when I pick up passengers and I have to ask them if they know how to get to there destination because google maps won’t load and because of that I don’t know where to go. All the negative feedback I have is all because of this app. There’s such a lag in this app that I can’t tell you how many times when I pick up passengers I have turned in the wrong direction because google maps takes a while to get its bearings right, when it’s finally gets his bearings right I notice I’m heading in the wrong direction. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore and I had to switch to another app for navigation. Any of you doing ride share using this app get ready to get some negative feedback just because of this app.

Unsafe directions!!

Do you plan to support Dark Mode? All areas that are white should be reversed and made black and vis versa. My girlfriend recently used Google Maps to find an address in Long Island City. The directions given were a very long way having her cross over train tracks and walk by strip clubs where people around there thought she must have worked there. I would think that Google Maps would give you safe directions. Once to her location she asked for a safer rout and they were able to give here much safer directions to get back. Please do a better job at directions... This should never have happened in the first place. ** GLITCH: I’m using Google Maps and plugged in an address. It correctly puts a pin where the address is but where the blue circle says I am the blue directional radar where I am pointing is in the completely incorrect direction. I have to go NORTH and am pointing my iPhone North however Google Maps says I’m pointing SOUTH. If I did not know for sure I was going in the correct direction Google Maps would lead me away from my destination. Im in Manhattan so I know the street numbers increase as you go uptown.

Used to be the best, recent updates are ugh

I used to LOVE this app, it was super user friendly and was better than Apple Maps or anything else. Now it screams at me while I’m driving to take alternate routes and I have to say “no” while driving or it changes my route on its own. I can’t be looking at a screen and hitting buttons on the highway every couple minutes, that is incredibly dangerous, and I couldn’t change settings mid-drive, nor am I confident I know how to actually change this setting where I won’t accidentally remove some other feature by mistake I don’t want to lose. Some people don’t want to switch highways halfway through the drive because there was an accident 50 miles ahead and there may be a delay down the road, this literally happened last week and I had to decline alternate directions a dozen times, by the time I got to the accident point traffic had cleared and I’d have lost time taking the suggestion. Also I miss how I used to be able to select transportation modes from a ribbon at the top of the screen, instead of from a menu at the bottom which takes up half the screen. If I’m planning a route I would prefer that the map be unimpeded as much as possible, because now the app thinks I may want to walk hundreds of miles and it’s prominently displayed at the bottom.

Orientation determined is often inaccurate.

I really want to feel secure to continue using this app as I am more familiar with it than any other navigation app, but it needs help - especially recently. The last few months it has been increasingly inaccurate when determining & showing my orientation and specific location on the map, especially in the beginning of the navigation, and therefore I often either (1) miss an exit (though sometimes that's due to a "lag" before the instruction is made - which is another problem), (2) I'll turn the wrong way when I follow the "turn right" or "turn left" directions spoken, or (3) I'm lead along the correct road but in the opposite direction of what's needed, thus resulting in a u-turn or other kind of detour. Sometimes u-turns are accessible and no big deal, but in some areas they are not accessible for long stretches, therefore creating a substantial detour in my trip. Idk if this is just a connectivity glitch or what, but these instances are happening for me more frequently and consistently in recent months than I have ever experienced before, so I don't think my specific location of reception is the issue. Please, please correct these issues.

DO NOT update your Google Maps app until they fix insane and dangerous bugs.

The last couple weeks, it has been: verbally telling me to turn left while visually displaying a right turn, and vice-versa; unable to renavigate/redirect until 2+ minutes into your new routes, thus sending you in circles, wrong directions, off incorrect exits; routing me 2-10+ miles off the route it said 1 minute ago, and subsequently adding 10min-1hr to my drive time (I took what should have been a 3-hour road trip three days ago, and by constantly changing my directions, instructions, etc it ultimately added well over 1hr to my travel time); telling me to make impossible or illegal U-Turns as well as multiple u-turns multiple times back and forth; telling me there will be stand-still traffic where there is none, and vice-versa; sending me on to roads one street before or after the correct road, including telling me to turn into a cemetery 3 times in a row when I was trying to get to an auto parts store with a completely different address than the cemetery; no longer functioning or connecting in areas where for years, up until a couple weeks ago, it had no trouble connecting; and worst of all, directing me to go into oncoming traffic.

Piece of junk

In recent months this app has become worthless for getting anywhere. It says that my destination is several hours away when it is really only 20 to 25 minutes away. It at times does not recognize that I am driving on a highway with no exit in sight and it will say to turn on to a street that is off the highway. On city streets it will say to turn where there is a city water control drainage ditch separating me from the street it is saying to turn on to. It will sometimes take me in the opposite direction from my desired destination. It will say to turn on to a street that is blocked by a concrete median. Today it was taking along a route and was saying to continue on to another street, I noticed that I was about to pass through the intersection of the street with the address of my destination. As I drove up to the address of my destination the application was still giving my directions to drive the opposite way. I am removing this app from my iPhone and going back to using MapQuest. At least I will get where my destination is without having to stop to ask directions.

Not very good or accurate

Google Maps is helpful, probably, when one is driving. It's not helpful for someone who has to take transit or walk. Transit often has changes/transfers - there are no actual walking directions available that are helpful. If you're walking the wrong way, the app doesn't stop you, just tells you to walk to {location}. Also, some bus stops are very near/across the street from one another and Google Maps has a hard time pinpointing that. That's the difference between going the wrong way in a strange place or arriving at your destination.
I commute to work but Google Maps only shows one route instead of any route, no matter how I change the settings, so I never know when the bus comes. I know when the trolley comes, but it only runs twice an hour when I am out of work and being able to see any kind of alternate route would be nice. I've also noticed that we have a trolley line that runs all the way to South Hills Village, but Google Maps just tells you to get off the stop before that and walk for sixteen minutes. I know better, but a person new to the area may not. I just don't find it very helpful as someone who doesn't drive.

So frustrating

This is a great map, it will show you where everything is, but’s it’s impossible to use on trips or custom maps. If you’re looking for directions without a custom map and for only one destination, this map is for you. If you create your own maps, need to look up multiple destinations, or are on a trip, it’s near impossible. First of all, I had my mom send me the link to our custom map. It send to my gmail, no problem. Then I’d click on the map, and it either wouldn’t load, or take me to Safari. The Safari view would show the map, but decline to let you get directions unless you signed in. Okay. I signed in. Well, it took my back to my home address, and sent me on a infinite loop, going from clicking the link in my email, getting sent to safari, logging in, and losing the map. I had to redownload the app four times before it worked. Second of all, the map legend isn’t interactive. I’m going to new york, and spent six hours working on a custom map, with a pin for every single place I wanted to go. i downloaded the app, only to find that in the map legend, you can’t click on individual icons, forcing you to leave the map legend, and click on every single icon until it pops up. Very dissapointed.

Almost perfect (almost)

For the vast majority of usage, this app has been flawless. The traffic is accurate, the routing is good, and the user interface is simple and easy to use. However, I have found some things to be quite annoying. For one, I have found that sometimes when I am in the far left lane on the highway, the app will think I am on the wrong side of the road causing it to constantly reroute me (this mostly happens in HOV lanes and high speed ezpass lanes).
Another issue is that if I purposely choose a slower route because it is fewer miles the app will constantly tell me it found a faster route (I know there is a faster way, but I purposefully chose the longer timed route!) this is very frustrating, and on my last 2 hour drive it told me 5 times that there was a faster way and I had to take my hand off the wheel to cancel the change.
Finally, my last complaint is that there aren't more alternate routes given. I’m lucky if the app gives me 3 options, whereas online you can drag the route to any road and it will find a route. Other than these issues though, the app is very well implemented.

Better than iOS Maps

I guess I didn't even realize the difference between this and the native apple map. I switched to iPhone last year and was used to pressing a map link and it opened right up in maps. Well, apple does that too...but when I needed it badly I had to come download google maps. I was stuck in a delivery parking lot of a huge hospital in an unfamiliar city that apparently had one address for the whole campus. Apple's map made me almost lose my mind- "Turn right then turn right! Go southwest then immediately go north then turn right! Turn left then turn right!"
It was insanity.
I finally broke down and googled what I needed which prompted me to download Google Maps...And I was immediately given correct directions and found my medical office in less than 5 minutes. Now every time I need directions I find Google Maps is the only one that's accurate.
4 stars because it turns me sideways sometimes and did have me turn right off of an exit just to make an immediate u-turn when it should have just told me to turn left from the jump. Still- it gets me there which is what I ultimately care about.
