Took a step backwards

Ever since I updated the app in Jan 2025 I have been unable to pay bills online. Keep getting error code 100. Called and spent over 60 minutes on the phone and a case was created. One week later and still broken. So much for bugs being fixed. Instead you made more.

This app is not good

Getting information from this app is spotty at best. You can’t get information you need pages don’t load. You have to check the website, which is just ad bad in my opinion. I’m not sure why this app even exists

My password isn’t good enough for them.

Got a new phone so had to re-enter my credentials. That wasn’t good enough. The emailed me the passcode, which didn’t work. After five emails of passcodes that didn’t work I’m now locked out. I think it’ll be easier just to go to the doctor and ask them how much coverage I have left for the year.

Cannot add ID card to Apple Wallet

One of the worst!

Rarely have I come across such awful apps by a big corporation. The Aetna app is leaps and bounds better. You log in and then it works!
With this one, logging in is a pain. Auto logs you out in a day. You have to accept the privacy policy every time( which mind you, you have to scroll through all the way to check I accept). And then you are greeted with an error. Forgot checking your claims, finding providers. Befuddles me how incompetent the developers and the QA folks are to put such a buggy app out there. You’d be fired for this gross incompetence!

Worst insurance company I have ever dealt with.

Have never been able to login via the website. Only have been able to login via the app a couple times. Customer support has no idea what is wrong. They keep resetting my password but nothing works.

Can’t pay bill anymore

Past versions of this app were not great, but at least YOU COULD PAY YOUR BILL! The opening screen on the older version had the premium that was owed, and a link to pay in the app. With this newer version, IF THAT OPTION REMAINS, I cannot find it. Why hide this information? I’m guessing that most people use the app precisely for this purpose… TO PAY THEIR BILL. Absolutely terrible!

Can’t get into my account

I have tried to access my account via the app on iPhone 14, Google, Bing and Edge without success. I called the Ask Blue number and Carlos walked me through different ways to try to get into my account again without success. He told me tech would email me once the problem was fixed. Its been a week, still haven’t received an email or accessed my account. Its been 3 months and still can't get into my account. I spoke with Miranda today and after 20+minutes, she also is reaching out to the web team and I should have an answer in 24-48 hours that are business days. I can put my login and password in a d then it does a second verification then I get an oops, we’re sorry we couldn't get you in message! So frustrating!

Terrible

Honestly just so bad. No touch/Face ID option, 2FA is only a code sent to your email?! I’m on a phone, have a text option. And once you’re in, just as bad as the website. “Which plan do you want to view?” I only have one, just default to it. With all the money insurance companies take from us, you’d think they could at least have good apps, but I guess it’s all going into the pockets of the execs. The positive reviews have to be fake—they certainly sound fake.

Worthless

The number one use case for this app is finding the cost and the network coverage. I find the cost for labs, see that it’s free if I stay within the network, but have no bloody way to see the network. There’s a link out to the website, but that doesn’t work.

Accessibility issues

I’ve used the IBX app & the web online. Both are not the same and when I try to access on app, it’s frustrating because either it doesn’t work or go to where I need it to go for search. I keep getting “problems” messages. Just not User Friendly!
I have the app because I need it wherever I go with my phone. It needs an overall haul setup to match the one online.

Easier to use and modern

I really like this new update! The benefits and claims are easier to keep track of and view compared to before. Logging in worked for me and showed me everything on my plan. The new layout and menus is clearer to use and surprisingly the app loads quicker than before. I usually only login to view quick details but now that I changed plans, I’m tracking my costs a bit more closely.
What I really like is that I finally read more details on some programs I’ve never heard of before. It’s robust so I may need time to view them all and use what I need.

Terrible App

It’s impressive how bad this app is. Every time you login it asks if you want to enable biometrics but if you select yet it doesn’t work, so then you have to decline every time you login to the app. After logging in you’re prompted with a reminder to disable your pop up blocker. In what word does my iPhone have a pop up blocker inside of this app?! Half the time you login and it won’t even load your claims, just says you don’t have any claims. What a joke.

Cannot see any referrals

CLAIM section,

IBX really needs a section that shows submitted claims, with date uploaded, then we should be allowed to press it to see details. Because the health providers sales teams lowering and raising cost based on whether or not they know u have insurance then rushing to collections. Communication for c2b should be smoother.

App Update with No Information Showing

The app updated to this new redesign and all my past claim information is gone. Deductible info, out of pocket, and several other things are missing. It’s not that it’s in a new location, it’s just entirely not there.
This is a huge problem, how could this app be updated without enough testing for errors like this?

Horrible Interface

Managing my account from my iPhone is nearly impossible. The Manage Account button prompts me to log in via my phones google chrome web browser. 9 out of 10 after I sign in the screen flashes between blue and white. Good thing I’m not prone to seizures or this would surely trigger one. When I return to the app to sign in I experience the same flashing glitch. To avoid this I often default to using my desktop to sign in. What’s the point in having an app that doesn’t work?!
Health care in this country is a scam. The least IBX could do is make the experience of getting robbed each month a little less frustrating.

Laughable

Last update broke Face ID use?

Used to work well but after the last update it wants me to hold a security key to the phone for log in, when it used to use Face ID. Well news flash, I don’t have a security key and hate having to remember my password. It’s the small things that make you really excited to shop around during open enrollment, and logging in to pay the bill is 100% one of them.

Apple Wallet feature doesn’t work

I got the app to add my insurance card to my Apple wallet. There is a button to click to add the card, but the feature doesn’t work. When I tap the button, the “Add to Apple Wallet” dialogue flashes on the screen and immediately disappears, and the card is not added to my wallet.
In general the app is poor. Some screens flicker a number of times before loading. The navigation is confusing. I have two plans from my employer, vision and medical. The interface allows me to choose which plan to see, but both plans are given exactly the same name. The home screen for an account has few useful options. Main navigation is found in a hamburger menu. At first glance, before the hamburger menu is tapped, it’s not clear that the app actually does anything. The hamburger menu headings are roughly useful but in some cases it’s not clear why a particular item is under “Claims and Spending,” “My Care,” or “Health & Well-being.”

Apple Wallet

I am not able to save my ID card to Apple Wallet. There is a button to do so but it does not work. With previous versions of the app I was able to save the ID card as it was in my expired cards. This needs to be fixed. The app overall is buggy and glitchy. After reading other reviews it appears that these issues have existed for some time. Lousy experience.

Not user friendly

I don’t need to use this app all the time, but when I do, it’s harder and harder to log in.
Last 2 times I tried to log in it needed me to change my password and that second of those 2 times it didn’t like the first couple of passwords I tried without saying why.
Now I tried logging in (not that long after I managed to create a new password and finally log in) and now it wants one of two Authenticator options and neither of the two options even seem possible to me. Why can’t I just log in like to every other app and website?

Reimbursements

This app should include a spot to take pictures or upload your statements for out of network reimbursements. I have been sending in for out of network reimbursements and the way time to get the reimbursement seems longer and longer. Presently, I have been waiting over a month. I don’t get it. What takes so long? Sometimes I will check the status and it says denied and the next day approved- which is weird- and then I don’t see a check for a month. There should be direct deposit. Waiting for the check is lengthy.

Worst App

This has to be the worst app ever! I prefer not to call customer service if I have the option to service myself via an app or online. Of course, the app should be the easiest option to use, but it’s not because the app never works! I tried searching for a provider by specialty type several times, and it kept bringing me back to the same page. I rarely need to use my insurance, but when I do, the app makes it impossible to find my information for myself! I don’t understand the purpose of having something so ineffective and pointless. Never able to log into app

What’s point in having an insurance app if your never able to log into it, I put my credentials correctly and all it says is please wait with a loading circle.. waited 5min one time just to see how long it would take. Needless to say I closed the app.. only way I can check my insurance is via the website.. this app needs major fix. Even when you try an report a problem or app support there’s no way to ask for tech support for app.. fix the app please.

Terrible interface

Using saved passwords to sign in does not work. You must manually type or paste the password in. I enabled Face ID and it never asks me for it when opening the app. The app does not support any iPhones with a notch. Content is displayed under the view of the notch. The X button to exit most screens is hanging off the top right side of the screen (barely noticeable and can hardly press it). I was able to add my card to Apple wallet last year, but this years card doesn’t show the option to add. App is very dated looking, picture content and some icons are fuzzy, and the entire interface is NOT intuitive at all. Please simplify it, optimize it to work with all iPhone resolutions, and get the button layout fixed. All the money I pay for this insurance and they can’t afford a knowledgeable app developer. SMH.

Worthless

I tried to select a primary care provider on the IBX website using Safari on my iPad. It kept giving me errors and wouldn’t let me do it. So I downloaded the app on my iPad to try doing it that way. When I try in the app it says “this service isn’t available on this platform” and then lists the platforms it is available on, which include “iPad app” and “iPhone app”. I am using the iPad app and obviously that doesn’t work, not sure what platform it thinks I am using, but this app and the IBX website are horrible. The only thing I have been able to do on them is to set up recurring payments, which of course IBX wants you to do. Setting up service is another story entirely, IBX evidently wants to make that as frustrating and hard to do as possible.

Recent update broke PIN & Auto-Login

The app is serviceable, however the most recent update seems to have broken the PIN Login & Auto-Login features for me.
I’ve repeatedly set these options in the Device Settings, and have uninstalled/reinstalled the app several times to clear the app data and start fresh. I’m running the latest iOS (14.6) as of this writing.
The app seems to set up these features on first run after reinstallation, but I always get an error message “System Unavailable - Please try again later…”, and then must login w/ User Name & Password.
Additionally, if I disable Auto-Login and try using *only* PIN Login, it tells me my PIN is incorrect, even after I’ve setup and double verified the information.
IBX, will you please review & resolve this issue?

Information not up to date

This app looks decent, but that’s where the positives end. The app is just not useful and does not have up to date information on your claims. When I use the app to search for claims, it says I have none, even though I’ve gotten numerous prescriptions through their health insurance. The Price-A-Drug feature is broken; try searching for any drug, it won’t find it. Prices for drugs are also inaccurate and not current. Totally useless. But what can you expect from a terrible insurance company that charges you exorbitant prices for drugs you need just to stay alive?

Could be better

Right off the bat, this app is disappointing. The login screen doesn’t support password managers (neither apple’s built-in solution, or 3rd party managers). My health information is the most private data I have, and I’d prefer to keep it safe using a complex, unique and safe password. Once you do manage to log in, no support for FaceID or TouchID.
Inside the app itself, the interface is slow to load, and feels outdated. Needs to be more responsive and the the design needs to be updated to match the website and/or modern app standards. UHC has been a leader in the mobile app game for insurers, and IBX should take a page from their book and rebuild this app for 2020

Account lockout 3-5 business days!

The web portal team contacted me by phone and email today. It’s been 10 business days since I reported the problem below. I informed them that after reporting the problem below with logging into IBX using mac iOS and iPhone, I WAS ABLE to access the account I created by using Microsoft Windows Explorer browser instead of Safari iOS. Fortunately I did not have to wait the 3-5 business days for them to get back to me! After logging in using Microsoft Windows Explorer I WAS able to Confirm my email account. THEN I was ABLE to login to the iPhone IBX app. The IBX iPhone app has been working smoothly and is very easy to use and navigate!

Unacceptable! Just started with IBX yesterday, January 1, 2020. Their web portal was down and still is. I Created a new account, but experienced an account lockout. Called them. They said their web portal is down. They will submit a ticket to the web portal team and the web portal team will get back to me in 3 -5 business days! I haven't been able to login to even use the app! It allows creation of your account, but once you create the account, it requires email verification. The web portal sends the email to you, you click confirm and then it goes to a web page that says ‘error forbidden’. Worked fine until update!

With the new update I am unable to sign into the payment options. My account has been locked for a week now even though the message says “wait 15 minutes before trying again”. I’ve tried multiple times to talk to a representative but I’m given nothing but 3 different help numbers that lead me to the same place. No one seems to work at this affiliated ‘customer service’ company. Highly unprofessional and I will be enrolling with a different provider next year.

Slightly better than IBX web experience

You need to listen to me. I know you probably have months of regulatory hoops to jump through for every incremental update to the app, but if you want to provide a service improvement that will take you from 2 stars to 3 stars, simply remember the f&$&ing payment information and allow automatic payments. If you want 4 stars, allow the user to choose to remember them for next session or allow fingerprint ID. Your mobile website UX is so bad - SO BAD, that I tried using the full site, and found that the full site is attempting to display itself as cropped mobile. Take your left shoe off and hold it by the toe with the heel facing you, and strike your own head with brute force repeatedly 15 times per day until it is updated for allowing the app to go out as is. What happened, did you really not fight to get the client to agree to save payment info? Is the billing service really that expensive to contract out? Fix it please, because Americans no longer have a choice between having insurance and not having insurance, and Aetna is far more costly than IBX, and as a value-add, the mobile app is presently on the cusp of usefulness.

Could use a lot of work...

The app doesn't let you remain signed in. So if you have a long password, you'll be spending a lot of time entering that in on the old iOS 6.0 keyboard that the app still uses (ugh). You also can't paste your password. A good idea would be to have a quick PIN option (like a four digit pin).
Otherwise, the app is too "flat". I don't like the swiping at the opening screen. I'd rather just a strait-forward menu. It makes it more easily navigable. Also, we should be able to edit our medical histories from within the app instead of being directed to use a computer.
