Nice, clean tool to learn and practice long division
I like the tutorial and how the learner can see the relationship of addition and subtraction to division. It’s a tiny bit finicky with how you pull the numbers down and into place, but it gets easier to navigate with practice. Great homeschool learning tool. Thank you!

I am 32 years old and heading back to college, completely bombed my math placement test because, I never use it, lol. This is great to brush up on basic skills you have forgotten. Within minutes I am good at long division and moving on confident. I recommend for everyone. 5 star!!!

Why I gave it one star
I give it a one star because first of all sometimes I forgot how many times does that number go inside that and I forget,I want to put my own problem and it doesn’t let me. It’s very bad and boring.

I tutor math for High school and College.
If students can't do long division using actual numbers they will not be able to do synthetic division in algebra.
The reliance on calculators at times hinders students from actually understanding what is being done. This app makes the purpose and process extremely clear.

Great learning tool
Both my kids breeze through understanding new concepts in math, and both struggle with following the mechanics and keeping steps straight. I did, too, when I was their age. Long division was tough on my older child and we're bracing for the young one now. No longer! He has picked this up as a game and it has allowed us to talk about so many concepts while drilling down the mechanics. He might not yet remember all the steps, but he's ready when they start this in school next year. Incidentally, my oldest, who still needs a reminder once in a while, has picked this with a tinge of reproach -- why did you not get this for me? I strongly believe that many kids assume their brains are not made for math because of a few milestones: multiplication tables, long division, adding fractions. Tools such as these, showing all levels of a concept in one app are key for kids who need context when they learn. The tool is not just a repetitive worksheet, it shows how the steps connect, what the goal of each step is and how the same algorithm works for complicated numbers. I agree, using this as a regular calculator would be sweet, as would be an advanced mode where kids could enter numbers rather than use arrows. That would allow them to connect with their freshly acquired multiplication tables. Are there more such tools? (Long multiplications, factorization, fractions operations, etc)

Great App
As an adult who never understood division (I'm one of those people who's great with language and terrible at math), I'm happy to say that, at 28 years old, I can finally divide! It's the little things in life, you know? I don't know if this app is an effective teaching tool for children but it sure worked for me!

Simple and good for review
I'm studying for the GMAT and forgot a lot of the rules of long division. I spent 20 mins or so in this app and it was totally worth it. I've remembered long division and its rules through practicing.

Great app
It's been years since I've done long division. I recently had to take a placement test to go back to school and it took the rust off my skills. If I had this app as a kid I would probably have been a better math student.

Great app!
Whenever she started fourth grade her teacher taught this and from the basics she did not understand anything. It was 70 after40 all the time. Then her friend showed her this app and she downloaded it onto her iPad and she had a light in her eyes.Now it's 100 after 100! Thank You, so much.

Exactly what I needed to help my daughter truly visualize what is happening in long division. When the numbers light up and physically drag into each other, she enthusiastically said, "oh, now I see it!" And even the lesson on the decimals within long division - outstanding!! Thank you! Great way to teach it, or re teach it!
This is a great way to review, or teach, long division for those of us who teach basic math skills. Our community college has a basic skills class and (I know you'll believe me when I state) many young adults can't do long division.
I'm going to replace much of my chalk review with this app projected onto the big screen. It will be efficient and clear, for the various aspects of division that it shows.

Great way to introduce the procedure!
I am definitely going to use this to introduce the long division process to my fourth graders! This will be especially helpful for those students who don't really know their facts, since it shows the multiples.

This app is a great start to introduce a more independent engagement in long division for students with fine motor issues or trouble writing out long division. I would love to see it offer more practice problems, and have a feature to allow for inputting my own problems. A section on long division with decimals divided by a whole number would be helpful.

It's very clear and informative, but my one problem with the application is that it needs an entire section devoted to practice problems, with randomly-generated problems of all different kinds.

Very helpful for getting back to basics, we have grown into a high tech world of using computers and calculators for ease of getting the answers easily. But what if it all stopped tomorrow? Would you still remember how to get the answers you did in school? Revisiting the basics is good for your sole . And maybe ..... Someday you might have to get back the very basic of what you learned.

I think this app is a great contribution to help kids understand the principle behind division. Nevertheless I think it tries to cover too wide a range which makes it then superficial.
If I try to use it for beginners at let's say fourth grade level, the examples are extremely basic. The next level immediately introduces division by two digits which is way too complicated for them not to mention decimals.
I would suggest adapting this app for different levels and adding the opportunity to write examples different than the ones set in the app. With those enhancements this one would be the best app in the category. Thanks anyway to the developer for an elegant and useful app.

So when will we be able to enter our own numbers? Learning math involves doing one thing over and over again. Like karate. Until you have mastered it. Then you move on and do the same thing with greater difficulty. Please return functionality to enter our own equations. Thank you.

Long Division Step by Step
I am not certain just how this app could be improved, and yet, it is probable that someone will come along and make it better. I just know that the steps to the mastery of long division, which we learned in third grade, follow so closely the manner of presentation herein demonstrated, that it is impossible to fathom an amelioration of the process.
A hearty “Thanks” to the developer of clear-and-simple apps like this one, for, in my not-so-humble opinion, it was NOT developed by a “true” mathematician, but rather by someone who struggled through the process, developing a sensible approach for others to logically perceive, make connections, and follow them through to eventual mastery.
My sincere gratitude extends to the entire team!

I wish I had this when I was struggling through math!
I wish I had access to technology like this when I was suffering through math in middle school and high school. To see the division process through the use of visuals is extremely helpful. This would be a good tool for new or struggling learners of division, in my opinion. And for the math teachers giving this one star, forget the one size fits all approach...this may be just the tool that failing student could benefit from... I would think it could supplement, not replace math instruction.

Awesome!
This is an awesome app for hands-on learning of long division, including diving with decimals. Not getting the people who are complaining about it. This app it's actually very intuitive for students, even my kids who could not do one long division problem on paper at first, had no problem going through problems on their own with this app. After I reviewed long division with my class on the board, I connected this app to my LCD Projector and had a student who was no good at long division come and try it out. He was quickly successful and did a few problems for the class. Soon the whole class was clamoring for a shot at using it. Love it!!!

This is an excellent app. Unfortunately you will never unlock its true profit potential as schools cannot make in-app purchases through the flawed volume purchase program. Make the full version a stand alone app and watch how quickly this app climbs the charts.

Get this!
This is what math education apps should be modeled on. This and algebra touch have very intuitive interfaces that make solving math problems fun. This doesn't replace paper and pen practice, but it does exactly what it was intended to do.
