This is very useful tool for transcribing. As a suggestion for a future enhancement, provide the ability to store multiple loop sections within a single song file. This way more than one section can be isolated for practicing without having to reset the loop section.

As a Jazz musician transcribing solos (mostly Charlie Parker in my case) is a fact of life. To date I have been a big fan of Anytune, which is a very powerful multi featured app, for my transcription needs. On discovering AudioStretch, Anytune now has some serious competition! AudioStretch is simpler app, less heavy with features , but with a unique advantage-the ability to slowly scrub through a phrase at constant pitch, even down to zero speed where you can stall on one note. It can't be overstated how powerful a feature this is. When learning difficult or illusion lines (think Charlie Parker!), this feature makes it as if you are controlling the players mind, having them play the phrase as you need to hear it to get the notes right. This has to be experienced to be appreciated. Moreover, the quality of the slowdown algorithm is incredible-as good as I have heard. Now I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. There are only two things I would like to see added that would earn a 5 star review. First, and most important, the app needs (as does Anytune) a simple way to smoothly advance the entirety of an AB looped segment. So for example, let's say you have a 2 bar portion you are looping as you practice it. It would be awesome to be able to incrementally shift the entire loop forward, maintaining constant length, as you "bite off" more notes to learn. Anytune has a clumsy way of sort of achieving this. It would be awesome though if With AudioStretch you could, say, put a finger on the looped segment and simply drag it forward or around as needed, at constant length to different portions of solo. The second thing to add would simply be a separate AudioStretch folder of marked tunes or tunes being worked on. What do you think guys? Add these 2 features and I think you will have nailed it as the best transcription aid in a universe of options!

I am a guitarist and a singer, and this app helps me a ton. I can see the pitches so I know what scale I need to be in. Also when my band does songs, we typically drop it by a half step, which is perfect with this app. No difference in intervals. This is one of my most used apps! Thank you for making a great tool for music!!!

As a musician, this is quite possibly my favourite app. The potential for transcribing and by-ear learning is nearly endless, and every update to the app improves both the functionality and aesthetic appeal. I would highly recommend this to any musician or audiophile.

If the developers were to see this, one of my only suggestions would be this: it'd be fantastic if, when a video is open, there was a button to rotate the video horizontally (entering full screen,) giving you more viewing room. Depending on the video, it can be difficult to see certain things that you might be watching for. You could allow for rotation of the video (full-screen) with a tap-to-play/pause function, and double-tap or tap-and-hold to toggle the UI function.

I noticed they got rid of the option to send pieces of audio through text messages 😑 it was so fun sending a chipmunk sounding audio to a friend or niece, but it's gone now. It was my favorite feature via sending material. 😞

This program deserves 10 stars. Read the other reviews for more details but let me just tell you that the ability to move the music manually is incredible. Buy this app and you'll see what I mean in a second. Incredible. I love it.

Awesome app. The quality on slowed audio is great. And the ability to hold down on a specific spot or slide the "tape" arbitrarily slowly can be super helpful. AudioStretch is my favorite of all the slowdown apps I've used. And it is great that its developers are still actively working on it.

This application is been a godsend for me I utilize it in conjunction with OnSong. I had to have major surgery on my neck and all my songs had to be lowered three notes. Without this application and would not be able to continue my solo gig , strongly recommended it works phenomenal and the logarithm stay pretty accurate even if the key is lowered or raised 4 or 5 notes or it's even more.

The quality of this app is top of the line. The interface is very responsive and as a musician it allows me to break things down and repeat then just as I need too. If I didn't need the extra features offered in the full app I'd still probably want to support the developer for such high quality work.

Surprising that AudioStretch would actually move in the opposite direction of being helpful. For example, under the import options google drive and other useful cloud and app solutions simply aren't there when previous versions of this app had them. From a quality point of view, there is no upgrade as the speed change produces audible artifacts and same with pitch change effect. What would be nice to see is support for streaming music like Apple Music or SoundCloud etc., then maybe this app can get a better rate. Work harder developer!

Zero speed playback capability and frequency spectrum over the interactive keyboard layout are the 2 features which cinched the purchase.

If you use the keyboard feature, you can see ever note being played in a chord! Including overtones! A new must-have for transcribing music.

This app is a must have if you are into transcribing music. I have found no other program – mobile or desktop – that does a better job than AudioStretch of helping musicians decipher the harmonies and melodies of their favorite tracks so intuitively and so effortlessly. I keep finding myself coming back to this app more and more lately. The more music you have to tweak to your liking, the better. Now, you can use you music files that are in your iCloud. This really got me back into using it again! Recommended! Especially if you like and/ or are familiar with audacity. Think audacity with less special effects.

The deal maker for me was the ability to slow down to zero. A complex vertical tonal structure can be analyzed with efficacy.

This app is the perfect tool for anyone trying to learn to play a song. The 3 main features that make it so useful are its ability to (1) loop all or part of the song, (2) transpose the song by half-steps up or down, and (3) change the tempo. The app does these effortlessly and flawlessly. The 4th best thing is that you can then export the loops you make so they can be used in other apps or on your computer. It gets my highest possible recommendation.

Great features and highly functional interface. Does so much more than just slow down the track. The ability to isolate left and right tracks is genius. Altogether better than firing up a DAW on the Mac to perform similar tasks – and this app actually is superior to using a DAW.

This is a great app to use for transcribing. One feature I would like to request though is to be able to control the volume of the music and not affect the system volume. I use this along with Bias fx and I'd like to be able to mix the levels of each of the apps. Nevertheless, it is still a great app.

Freeze a note. Isolate Left and Right. Looping and slowing is easy. On Foo Fighters "Rope" I found a new intro trill. Hendrix is a whole new record collection. Don't eat lunch. Buy this instead.

This app is so wonderfully helpful to me as a musician. I can slow down a track without changing pitch, fast forward and reverse with ease, pause, and get songs from my music library or Google Drive! Absolutely a must for any musician who does regular transcriptions.

Wow, this app hands down crushed all the competition. It is the best at what it does and it is so helpful in transcribing, looping and learning music. To the developer, One thing I think would be a very useful addition to audiostretch. Is if it would display or spell out the root note and keep an active ledger or display of the root notes listed above the wave form. I realize the keyboard at the top has the note information, but I think to have it listed as well would be incredibly beneficial.

Those essential apps for any iOS musician, everybody knows them: Audiobus, Audioshare, Midibridge. I'm here to say that that there's a new essential in town, and it's no other than Audiostretch!

The quality of the pitch-shifting, and the artifact-free time-stretch is superb. As a utility that is its first caveat. As a creative tool, it can reveal a universe of beautiful sound you never would have expected in the short or long audio file you've loaded. The live scrubbing is a great joy, and it has phenomenal integration with Audiocopy and the bus, so there are no hassles or workarounds...almost.

I've imported several bpm specific loops, and both transposed and shifted it. If there were a simple calculator that could indicate the new bpm (with the original bpm of course being known by the user), this would really be logical as further development. Audiostretch is the foremost shifting, pitching, and stretching tool for iOS, and as such would reward users tremendously with a bpm clock. I hope the developer will take this request into consideration :)

This app was cool when they first released it, and they keep improving it. Great sound quality, very easy to use.

It is good for learning songs or creating new sounds out of existing songs. But my favorite thing is just listening to favorite songs at different speeds or in different keys to experience them in a new way. Kind of like playing a vinyl at the wrong speed, but with more options.

Another thing I like to do with it is listen to lectures (I download a lot of lectures and books on tape). Sometimes you have a teacher who talks to fast or too slow, and this was you can adjust the speed. Maybe you have a professor with a squeaky annoying voice-- pitch it down. Makes it easier for me to pay attention.

One wish: I wished I could say for example when slowing down a track be able to know at what tempo in beats per minute BPM, the file has been brought down or up to. Say I import a nice guitar track that I recorded at 128 BPM ,but want to bring it down to 110. I wish there was a way to know what the new BPM is. Thanks in advance!

If you are a musician and are looking for a tool to help you transcribe those really fast solos, look no further - this app is indispensable and is an amazing time saver. It works exactly as you would expect it to and has the functionality you need to slow down the speed of the music, which you may easily load from your music library, without changing the pitch, scrub back and forth or loop over difficult passages until you can get the notes. It also displays a piano keyboard that indicates the notes (frequencies) at a given point in time as the music is playing. Truly a phenomenally useful and well designed app! Thank you so much!

I've been using audiostretch for a while now to copy and modify audio files on my iPhone but the updates in the past few months have been phenomenal, providing more alternatives and options. Great app with a creator who obviously cares about updating.

I love this app. I use it all the time for learning songs for stage. The ONLY thing that could make it better for me is to have variable pitch by cents in addition to half-steps. The reason is that quite often I get set lists via YouTube links and quite often the videos are simply footage of records being played. This is common for Reggae. The issue is slightly off speed (out of tune) songs to learn. This would make learning songs a lot easier. In addition to the half-step button. Incorporate a cents slider. Thanks for a great app!

I really love this app "Audiostretch" on my iPhone. It helps me to understand lyrics better and to hear instruments which we normally miss. That's a whole new way of listening to our favorite songs in detail. I didn't know such app exists on AppStore!

I use AudioStretch for calling square dances. I've tried all the slow-down apps and loop-making apps and AudioStretch is the best. Fine-tuning the starts and ends of loops is easy and super accurate by moving the waveform display. Tempo adjustments on the fly to accommodate slower dancers is easy with the 5% buttons. The support team is friendly and responsive. This is an app I cannot live without.

Easy to use for most. Lacking some pro features but for general use it's excellent. App is smooth, response is quick. Dual tracks feature preferred, merging clip and crop will be a plus.

Best tool I've ever seen for learning a song by ear. Hands down.

Using the scrubber to analyze the keyboard spectrum reveals every subtle note hiding inside every complicated chord. The only complaint I have about this app is that it will rob me of the satisfaction of finding those notes on my own.

My bad....again. Seems my original PC's e-mail to this App's developer, Gerry Beauregard, got Mac-rejected, and thus somehow lost in the shuffle. Once it turned up, Gerry immediately contacted me, updating me on the history of the App, the revisions in progress, the newer applications for professional musicians, broadcasters, etc., etc. He was extremely responsive to my suggestions (all of which were already in the works to bring this incredible app to even broader appeal), and has many new additions planned. This app has great potential! The way it keep the pitch at its slowest. Please add other options to get files out besides email (too slow for me). Would love to see either AudioCopy, Audiobus (sender and effect) or even IAA. If you have to make it as an in-app purchase I'll buy! Amazing!

I have used this for awhile with iOS 8 and it works fine. I'm glad I paid my $5. I really like the pricing structure too where you can try the app for free to be sure it does what you need, then pay a little when you are ready to commit.

This app has the goods. It is all that and a bag of chips. I've been an audio file for well over 50 years, and I've never seen The likes of this app. It is just something else. I can listen to foreign-language songs slowed down, so that I can get the correct pronunciation of words and phrases. Also, I can simply understand what it is they're saying so much better. It's really helping me in my quest to learn Korean. Also, it is truly amazingto listen to songs made into ballads – it's just wonderful & you just have to buy this app to understand what I mean. Listening to my music through this app has made my music library brand-new, especially the ballad tracks, and lush orchestrals. I seldom review an app without being asked to, but this one really merits the effort. I really love it, and I don't even know how to fully use it yet. A hearty thank you to the developers.

Very easy to use and is still a very powerful app. Does everything it says it does, including being able to play at 0.0x rate which I was confused about at first. Love that it plots all frequencies on a keyboard, which you can also play! ALSO, lets you play A-B, which allows you to strip vocals easily out of music, leaving just the music. Many very useful features, in a simple package. Amazing app.

There is a God! I know because I've been praying for an app like this, one that doesn't digitally distort when one applies the key changes or tempo adjustments. I'm a guitar teacher, and lots of my students need sound clips of "Eruption" or "Back in Black" slowed down to their current ability. This app does it perfectly! Wish I could give it more than 5 stars. It deserves them.

This app is designed to work out songs and it is great fir that, however using the "open in" functionality as a musician you can import your own sounds and mess with them. This app has great potential for more experimental musicians who want to manipulate a sample waveform in pitch, speed and time without any kind of glitch in the sound. A great app that would benefit greatly from Audiobus or Inter App Audio support

Does a stupendous job of everything it claims to do!

The first song I tried it on was "The Miracle ( of Joey Ramone)", like the description says, no change ( loss ) of pitch when the speed is changed, even extreme changes, but if you do want to vary the pitch you can separately to all different ranges.

This app helped me learn songs by ear for which I could not find any guitar tabs. The 0% speed combined with the on screen keyboard is incredibly useful when trying to pinpoint a musical tone. Worth every cent.

I like how you can slow the tempo down without losing pitch and also the key transpose. You have to get the paid version of this app so you can play songs that last more than five minutes this is the best $4.99 I think I've ever spent keep on rocking

Being a musician, I have tried quite a number of music apps on iTunes. But it’s been a while since I have stumbled upon something that made me go “wow”. The AudioStretch is exactly what I’ve been looking for, and its simplicity makes it even more brilliant. I especially love the ability to drag the waveform back and forth, or even “freeze” it. It makes me feel like I have perfect control over the music I study. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

I think the little bar that shows the complete wave of the audio, the one used for navigating through the song(with the vertical red line) should be moved to the top of the screen, it is very easy to bump when attempting to press play/forward/backward.

I've tried several of the slowdowner type apps on the app store, and this one is by far my favorite. The thing that really sets this one apart is the user-friendly interface. I am able to get this to do what I want with a minimum of button pushing. I also found out that you can open dropbox files with this app by opening the track in the dropbox app, and then pressing the "open with AudioStretch" button. This app is a really great bargain too!

I thought there was something this app was missing but didn't know what it was.... Until I was playing around with the tempo and realized what it was or rather wasn't missing.

You can play songs backward! It makes the app so much more fun.

However, I wish the song would keep playing whilst you looked for another and once you exit the app. I hate when my phone locks and the song goes off.

The other day my kids asked how those people in the radio could speak so fast (pharmaceutical ad). I whipped out AudioStretch and showed them :). Now it's on their iPods too.

Great App. Easy to use. I love that I can pick whatever speed I want and pick the pitch. Very handy in learning complex keyboard parts. The loop function is also very helpful to repeatedly practice difficult or tricky parts.

Simple, easy-to-use app w/o annoying ads or in-app purchases. It does not crash like many of the trial apps and developer does a great job of continuing to improve the app! This app is an excellent value.

It took me a while to find this app, but it's just what I was looking for. This app allows you to select a song from your iphone and then select a section of the song and loop it at any tempo and at any pitch. It's free and without ads. I use it for improv practice. I record 1-bar snippets of some backup rythmn instrument on my computer, and then I loop it and practice improvising over the loop. I would suggest one small improvement: It would be nice if, by default, the app placed the A and B markers at the beginning and end of the file when you first open it. But, it's not too bad even without that feature because the app at least remembers where you put the markers the next time you open the song. Very nice!

Great tool for transcribing or learning a song. The interface and controls are intuitive - easy to use and self explanatory - works beautifully. The old days of transcribing tape decks seem so far away! Can't believe this app is free.
