Description

* "Without doubt the most powerful and genuinely useful percussion app on the App Store right now" Computer Music
* Reached the #1 paid music app in 5 countries
* SonicTouch (www.sonicstate.com) gold award
Impaktor is a drum synthesizer with a vast sonic palette, that turns any surface into a playable percussion instrument.
You just slap your desk like you would a real drum. The real acoustical impulses from the built-in microphone are used as an excitation source for advanced sound modules that simulates behavior of membranes, cymbals, metallophones or strings. This makes Impaktor a highly responsive and expressive instrument.
With semi-modular architecture and several types of synthesis, Impaktor can produce a wide range of tones, from acoustic, like Tabla, Djembe, Marimba, Cymbals, Metal bars to electronic or industrial sounds.
We strongly recommend using the app with wired headphones to avoid acoustic feedback and ensure ultra-low latency. (USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, USB-C headphones or an audio interface).
You can use the Impaktor app with a contact microphone or analog drum pad to achieve isolated and sensitive input, reducing ambient noise and enhancing trigger accuracy.
Enjoy the most realistic virtual drumming experience available for mobile devices!

Amazing tool

Extraordinary app- I use it daily (contact mic on hand drum running into an iRig to mixer) accompanying contemporary dance classes. Having sounds that bridge the electronic with completely organic response to playing- in timbre, pitch, volume, and articulation- is invaluable. If this app ever goes away, I may have to retire.

Buyer beware. App is broken and developer is non-responsive to emails.

This app states it supports InterAp audio. It does not. Will not load in any Interapp audio program apparently This is a well-known issue and if you search the Internet there are multiple posts in different audio forums discussing this. Developer does not respond to any of them. Tried direct emailing developer several times but no reply. Developer needs to either update description to not supporting inter app app audio or remove from App Store as this is strictly why I purchased the app and I would like my money back. I would be careful about buying any other products from this developer as they do not offer any support.

Great app but Audiobus is not working

I am a hand drummer and this is the only app I know of that allows true organic beats (non-quantized) — like I do on a tabla, conga, dumbek, etc. So, I would like to give this 5 stars, because it really is in a class by itself…however, Audiobus has not successfully launched the app for months so there is no way to use a studio workflow with other apps and that prevents this from being something you can actually use for real work.

Great app but…

Used to love putting loops together on my iPhone X with this, but it will no longer run correctly after installing iOS 15 - it crashes every time I try to export a loop.

Excellent app

While i am excited always to use this app it has a problem with IAA node. Not working with AudioShare / AUM …etc. Developer please fix this before your fantastic masterpiece end up as forgotten and abandoned. It will be just a shame. This is such a gem to audio world.

Great sound and great fun

Impaktor is unlike any other synth or drum tool I’ve played with. It sounds incredible and it’s easy to make great sounding rhythms.

Very useful percussion app. Needs sync.

Edited. Still no sync, which is spoiling the effectiveness of this app for me. Otherwise|- Really nice app, love the sounds and layering loops. Would be even better with sync options or especially Ableton Link compatibility. Would breathe new life into this app. I’ve been looking for anything (even a desktop app) that does what this one does and still haven’t found it.

Excellent app

Just got it today but I can already see the possibilities with it! I just hope background audio is introduced and maybe some midi control for playing with other apps. Great app so far though.

Fun, but needs a few thing

Cool app...I’m still trying to fit it in to my work flow for recording. It is very responsive and taps the beat out accurately. A couple of little shortcomings is it only quantizes to 1/16...1/32 would be great because I often tap out quick little beats and fills that Impaktor struggles with and makes it slower when I want it faster. Turning the quantize off is an option, but it’s difficult to be precise. Also, a 4 or 8 beat count-in option would be wonderful. This app has a decent selection of drums from which to choose and has great potential.

Not working in GarageBand

The app works fine on its own, but it will no longer load into my GarageBand.
I’ve a previously recorded Impaktor track that I had created a few months back when it was working fine.

Works great with a drum trigger pad

I’m getting full joy with this app, and a Roland PD-5 rubber drum pad, like for V-drums. It’s very playable and responsive, like an instrument. Great range and nuance to sound depending on how you play. It is interesting how it works, it seems to kind of transform the actual sound of the trigger, rather than playing samples.
My setup is using an old iPad 4 to run this exclusively and am using a previously useless $30 irig Stomp pedal, to get the trigger into Impaktor. The irig stomp is intended for plugging a guitar into the headset mic jack, and it murders the tone, but here, it serves great for just getting the pad trigger into the iPad, without having to use an audio interface.
If I could have one thing for this app, it would be midi clock sync, to use the internal looper to get layers going, with the quantize.
Great, unique app. Highly recommended for drummers and percussionists looking to work in some great electronic sounds, like the Synare did in bands like Joy Division and the Cure.

Awful iPhone app

Totally useless on an iPad if you want landscape mode. This is just a cheesy iPhone app upgraded to iPad with no landscape mode. This is just a toy, not a real, useable music app.
Rip off.
If you put an app in the iPad section of the app store it should have a landscape mode. That’s what makes it an iPad app.

Just awesome

As someone with limited study time, I need apps that don't need to be coddled obsessively to produce satisfactory sound.
Impaktor works great this way. If you've tried the app and gotten annoyed with no headphones, just do yourself a favor and get some cheap phones. You can very easily drum, record, and rerecord each instrument as needed until you have something great!

Great Update

Very glad the developer added 64 bit support to the app.
Adding audiobus support allows a great app to be even better. Use headphones if you want to avoid feedback issues while you're drumming. Still the most expressive drumming app, it translates mic input into drum sounds with a variety of ways to tweak the sound and adjust the volume of the input from the mic. Try using a contact mic for additional options if you're wanting to perform live music.

Essential app for me

I use this app on three iOS devices in my live rig. Using an inexpensive iRig audio interface and a Roland electronic drum pad I can create something like a wave drum at a fraction of the cost. Thanks for making it 64 bit.

Brilliant synth idea!

I got this app thinking it was a normal drum synth. I had no idea about sampling with the mic. This is by far the most interesting and engaging drum synth app I used. Sad to see this project stagnate and not get updates for a long time. Nonetheless, my five stars go to a great idea and neat implementation.

Awesome app

I was worried about latency before I bought this - there is none. I was also concerned that I would have to be overly careful about where to place the phone while I'm tapping - I don't.
This app brings the human feel to the world of iOS percussion instruments, a world teeming with apps that lack velocity control and variable accent control. The sounds it comes with are great but it has enough flexibility for you to make your own. I'm incredibly unique instrument for five bucks - it's a steal.
For the people that aren't giving it five stars because they can't use it on stage or find a way to work with its limitations... people just don't use their brain and find ways to work around obstacles. Even the most prestigious studios in the world have limitations. It uses a live sound source as an impulse generator, it's got to be quiet. Duh. If you're having retrigger problems you're probably putting the phone on a surface that is too resonant. If you want to use it on stage get a korg wavedrum. This is exactly what I was looking for to create some ambient tribal experimental electronica and I already know how I'm going to do it. Jam out on the table, hit record, trim and loop in AudioShare or cubasis or BM2 and then find the tempo. If I like the sounds and I want to use them on stage I'll sample them and set velocity layers. Problem solved. It's not that hard people you need to try harder. If it doesn't work on your iPad do it on your iPhone. Problem solved. It's five bucks and it doesn't crash. Five stars.

Wayyyyy too much lag on iPad Air 2

lag seems to be gone, but now the issue is that impaktor "hears" itself, so you cant use looping! if you use external mic connected, the headphone audio signal is routed back into impaktor, so kick drums will trigger hats, etc... even with no playing. synth engine is cool, but looper is worthless..
:::: old review ::::
Per another review I read, I agree that something seems broken with this app now.
I've tried iPad's internal Mic, and external mic, even connecting to a real drum trigger (which is just a piezo mic in a housing basically) and they all are worthless. Lag is at least I the .1's of a second... Cool sounds, but pointless now due to lag.

Needs some TLC

Great percussion app, but needs MIDI implementation. Unfortunately this is unlikely to happen as it would appear to have been abandoned by the developer.....shame

Not just a toy. Lots of potential

Sure it's fun to turn any surface into an instrument but Impaktor also works great with drum triggers! I use my iPhone on a mount and a drum trigger live on stage and it works great. My iPhone is on a mount within reach so I can change presets on the fly. It takes some work but with a little ingenuity, it can be very useful.
I do have a few suggestions for the developer; sensitivity is a necessary setting which you have included but just as crucial for drum triggers is retrigger and threshold. This would give users the ability to properly calibrate a drum trigger. Also an audio import function seems like a no brainer to me. We want to play our own sounds too. Adding these features would be expand the demographic of Impaktor from novelty to professional application.

BeepStreet abandons apps. Beware

I was a long time fan of their apps but my go to sequencer, made by BeepStreet, iSequence was abandoned by them. I had many songs on this and bought every add on pack. Then one day it won't work. It won't rotate, and doesn't fit on my iOS 7+ devices. Certainly not on iOS 9. They abandoned the app. No updates, and no longer offer it. All without warning. So I've lost all my work and money from the sound packs. And I'm sad that my favorite sequencer app is gone. No longer functional. Why?!? Oh well I'll never buy another BeepStreet app. I recommend you dont either.

Latency on iPad Air 2 iOS 8.4

This app shows lots of potential and works fairly well on my iPhone.
On the iPad Air 2 the latency makes it unusable. There must be some kind of new bug. Fun but this issue puts a damper on things. Still not fixed under iOS 8.4. Shame on Apple for breaking this developer's app on the iPad Air 2 built in mic.

Horrible

This app is useless. I am using an iPad Air 2. All I get are repeats and repeats. Triggers when nothing is happening. Multiple triggers instead of clean sound. This is the worst music app I've ever used. Adjusting Mic sensitivity does nothing. Sounds like crud

Awesome, but with a tiny issue!

I have Impaktor for a long time. First bought it on my iphone and had so much fun!!! I was amazed how fast it picked all my taps, and how realistic some synth presets sounded, just like a real drum. Currently I have a little but an issue, on iPad Air 2 there is a lag when using the integrated mic. I don't know if it is because the two mics trying to pick the taps or just they have lag by default. Drumming fast is impossible, because the lag is long enough to confuse me and make mistakes. Strangely using the headset's mic introduces no lag at all, also the same version on my iphone has no lag on either integrated or headset mics. So please BEEP, check what causes the issue, try to use only one of the mics or fix the lag Thanks for this awesome app!

Truly MAGNIFICENT!!!

I have had this app for quite awhile, over a year now, and it just dawned on me that I have never given it the props that it so absolutely deserves. Anyone that loves music will love this app, not just percussionists. From adults that are musical, down to my toddler-aged son, this app is so organic and intuitive that it is nearly impossible not to come up with some amazing sounds on it, whether you're an amateur or a pro. I've played guitar, keys, and vocals for over 20 years, and I'm telling you, this is easily one of the top 5 music apps in the entire App Store. Trust a brother...& Tap on!
*On a related note, I also highly recommend another app made by these same developers, called Sunrizer Synth. It is also incredibly unique and full of magical possibilities.

Very fun and inspiring

I've had this app a while and I never thought to write a review for it til now.
As a multi-instrumentalist it's not one I use every day, but when I want to add some really cool organic sounding rhythms or rhythmic techno orchestrations to a song, this fits the bill amazingly well,
The app really makes your ipad an expressive rhythm instrument, or more accurately it make everything in your room an instrument.
Very original and a great app

Terrific

I have to say this app is really great. It sounds great too. It's musical and very useful. You can create just about any type of percussion you want. Make loops and record live who them. I've had this app for a while and it just gets better. Highly recommended for musicians who want some nice sounds and layers to work with that are interesting and new. In my opinion the results are usable in final mixes.

Really cool - but, multitrack export plz?

Love this app. Great fun synthesizing drums and making beat sketches on the go.
Only thing missing is a multi track export (wav files for each channel). Let me be able to use this stuff better in my big studio setup!

Changing my previous review

I've decided to change my previous review for the iOS7 app after receiving some further information. I initally wrote a negative review due to the fact that the previous version of Impaktor was non-functional in iOS8. After placing an e-mail to the vendor, I quickly received a reply stating that they had in fact fixed the issue and submitted an update to Apple, but it hadn't been put up in the App Store. Since I'm sure there were hundreds of other apps in the queue that needed to be approved in anticipation of iOS8, I can't very well blame the creators of Impaktor for the traffic jam at the App Store approval process. I'm giving this a 3.5 stars for the Impaktor drum synth, and 4 stars for the excellent customer service at BeepStreet.

Ouch! My Jaw.

I've spent $300+ on music apps this past few months. There are some very impressive, rich sounding, and beautifully developed apps in this store. This app however, caused my jaw to unhinge, and plummet down with enough force to break through 2 levels of concrete, ending up in the basement.
I had seen this app floating in the store before, and dismissed it as just another silly toy. I was so wrong.
1st: This is no crappy pre-recorded sample player with pads. This is a drum synthesizer, and a RICH SOUNDING ONE at that. I later discovered it's made by the same guys that brought us the Sunrizer Synth, it all made sense then.
2nd: There are no pads or keys, whaaaaaa? (Insert shocked minion here.) You tap or bang whatever surface you want and the microphone picks it up. The best part about this, is that the acoustics and intensity of the sounds you produce when tapping translate directly to expression in the synthesized drums. I have both studio monitor headphones, and audiophile reference headphones. When recorded correctly, I almost can't tell the difference between some of these synthesized instruments, and real ones. This is when I lost my jaw. I miss it very much, eating soup is very awkward now.
3rd: You can tweak the sound. That should be a good enough sentence for my third point but some advanced users may argue that there aren't enough options. While I disagree, I present to you Audiobus, and its popular effects slot, in which you can use other apps to modify the sound 'till your heart's content or you bleed out through your ears.
4th: I don't need a fourth point, I don't have jaw, I'm very much in pain, and you expect too much of me. Just buy the app so we all look alike and the developers can afford my lawsuit.

Works Great. Needs a couple of things….

This works better than I expected, and has excellent sounds. I would love to use it for live performance, BUT it needs a couple of features for that.
- MIDI clock out (and in if possible) so users can sync the loop tempo with other hardware
- background audio support (so users can switch to other apps for stuff while the audio keeps going)
Highly recommended, though.

Best app I've ever downloaded!

Very low/no latency time. I like it best when I put my phone on a paperback book and use Bic pens as sticks. The only constructive thing I have to say is that I wish it had a microphone selection option, so you can use iphone headphones with the mic built in to the cable, and still select the microphone on the phone itself. Otherwise, I just use over ear headphones and I 'm happy as a clam.

Unique, useful, awesome.

Impaktor is a great example of what iOS music is all about. It's part synthesizer, part drum app, and part noise machine. The "input" here is you tapping your finger on a desk, which registers as a synthesized "note" in the form of a drum beat, plastic pipe noise, or whichever of the several dozen presets you choose. You can create loops or play with AudioBus, and the synthesized rhythms have a human element to them because every hit is different and unique. You can even try tapping with your fingernail, a pen, or other object to see how that affects the output. The resulting sounds are recording-level quality, and unlike anything else in other apps. These range from 909 bass drums to snares to bizarre synthesized notes.
My only gripe is that I wanted more! I would love some more hi-hat and cymbal sounds so that I can tap out rhythms like an actual drum kit. But nevertheless, great effort from BeepStreet and definitely worth a look.

Wow'd a skeptic...

I was leery about the sensitivity and the latency, when I read the description of this app. As drummer of 30+ years playing many different genres, I went into this thinking there was no way this app could accurately pick up fast 32nd note intricate drum patterns.( I mean, it took Roland 15 or so years before the vdrums triggering was at a usable level)...I was definitely wrong. I could go on for days about how good this app is, but all you have to do is read some of the reviews. It really is as good as everyone makes it sound. There are only a couple apps that I can truly say are must haves as far as music production, gigging, etc. This is definitely one of them.

Stunning Performance

This app is a small miracle. Every time I use it, I'm in awe of how good it is. I tap and beat on my table and it turns into recordable exotic drums, and every nuance comes through with no lag. The presets are terrific; and once I get use to those, I'm looking forward to creating my own.
This app broke new ground in showing what the iPad can do. It's the future, now - very stimulating and inspiring; and with Audiobus, I can plug it right into GarageBand.

Like owning a Korg Wavedrum!

This app is brilliant! It is like owning a Korg Wavedrum for a fraction of the price. Synth engine is very deep! I use an iRig interface to plugin a contact mic (attached to a drum pad) into my iPhone for live performance. This eliminated the crowd noise substantially from triggering the app's synth engine because you bypass the iPhone mic. There are probably even better work arounds for live use.
Just a fantastic app!

~SLAMMIN STILL~

This was a revolution then and remains a jaw dropper to those I show who never seen! especially drummers and percussionists. It's so nice that the responsiveness is so tight that you can do perfect flams and soft roll fills AND THEY SOUND SWEET. and you can do these and many other drum techniques on a ton of built in sounds and can make nearly any sound you wanna beat on. Recently I've discovered that just tapping on my bed mattress with a drum stick or embarrassingly a couple of no. 5 macramé needles' fat ends! Sounds nutty but sitting there watching Notflix sometimes I just play flam para diddles or make beats finding the bassy part of the mattress and the more snare part so I brought impaktor into this (right into the middle...) and the bouncy mattress just was perfect for great snare rolls and drop stick dddoopdat doodat type 4th bar snare fills and rhythms. Fantastic and like nothing else. This was one of the first music apps I ever bought and I still love it very much. Thank you for bringing it life it is a masterpiece !

This is fantastic

I have to say this is one of the best app ideas I've ever came across. While it definitely benefits from a quiet surrounding, that can be made up with one of those fancy contact pickups. But it's EXTREMELY expressive. Hip hop to jazz to dance to pop, hell, I could probably even do some metal or rock with this thing. It's really really really well thought out. Thank you to the DEV.

Finally, a real percussion instrument

I think that this has huge potential. To me, several of the reviews have missed the point. First of all, in my opinion, the virtue of this thing is precisely that it does NOT have an on-screen control widget; it uses the sound generated by drumming on a tabletop (or on real percussion instruments which you may already know how to play), an inherently analog and sensitive process which allows a natural access to dynamic range and timbral variation just not possible in tapping on a picture of a button on a glass screen.
The app does, in fact, provide control of input sensitivity, and it's possible to tailor that to eliminate almost all false triggers. (If you're trying to make this work in a subway station, you're out of luck. Buy any of the more traditional "drum machine" apps.)
I do understand and sympathize with the frustration of not being able to use Bluetooth headsets, but that's a tricky one... A set of through-the-air Bluetooth speakers looks just the same to the app, however, but would produce horrendous howling feedback loops which would result in horrendous howling ticked-off reviews. Still, it might be better to give people the rope, with instructions for not hanging themselves. (By the way, I have no idea why Bluetooth doesn't work; I'm totally guessing.)
Finally, the claim that this is limited to only simple "beats" is... well, you need to get out more, and listen to the music which is made by hand drummers from all over the globe. An Indian classical tabla player just uses his hands and fingers to make some of the most complicated percussion music in the world, for instance. This app doesn't have the sensitivity of a piece of stretched animal skin, but it's the first thing I've seen which even comes close.
I very much hope that Audiobus support is coming soon! I'd also like to see more real-world instrument samples included. The "Ethnic" kit is a good start, with a lot of useful sounds, but I'd love more Western orchestral percussion and trap set sounds, too. And finally, did I mention that I'm holding my breath waiting for Audiobus support? Oh yeah, and also add Audiobus! This app and Auria are just dying to make music together!

It's amazing but

right now, as said by another before, the audio does crack severely. also, there should be an option to turn off the microphone, which enables the triggering of the pads using our fingers. maybe each pad could then be an one-hit XY pad, to replace the modulation done using the mic? I can't use this app in noisy place which limits where I can play. everything else is impressive, especially the synth portion. above all, I do hope you guys resolve the cracking audio soon!

Great but

This app is fantastic. Great sound quality and you can even tweet sound. This app has better deal than any other drum machine app.
If the place is too noisy, go to setting and turn down the sensitivety. If you don't like the sound then tweek it. Need to use it on DAW? Record it and export it. This app has everything, and specially in $3 this is steal.
Try it out. You won't regret it.

No Bluetooth

Right off the bat it doesn't work with my blue tooth headphones. Really? I have to carry two sets of headphones because beep street couldn't figure it out? I hate paying for half done apps that I can't use because some flaw isn't revealed! In its defense it showed great promise plugged in to my mixing board, but when it should of saved because I hit the 'save to disk' button and named it, it erased when I hit clear all..Erase all saved files? How can an app be so cool and so stupid? . Might be great but has unnecessary flaws and unintuitive design..

Fantastic fun & a great accomplishment!

A truly playable, useful musical instrument!
Impaktor will turn your device into that.
After a little tweaking to the sensitivity, your device basically becomes a contact mic, allowing you to play on different surfaces as if they were the instrument (and you can cook up some wild stuff with it's onboard tweaks, filters and effects). Powerful, useful and totally playable. A true accomplishment! Don't hesitate on this one!

Awesome! But...

The lack of midi implementation, or even on-screen pads makes this unusable in any setting other than for very simple beat-making for ideas. With a drum synth as powerful as this, I'm constantly frustrated because I can't use any of these sounds with my band when we play live because of the mic's sensitivity, unless I want to go through the hassle of audiocopy.
A professional-quality drum synth should have a formidable trigger setup for a professional setting. The concept of the dynamic velocity of the mic is great, but useless outside of the boundaries of a toy.
This could be so much more, beepstreet! Get on that midi!

Don't know much about synths

But man, is this fun to play with. If you like drumming or tapping out rhythms on anything, this app is a ton of fun to play with. Gets velocity better than any other drums on iPad since it derives it from how hard you actually hit the surface rather than relying on the unreliable screen tapping methods (which don't really work ever). There is a lot of customizability here, too, and though I am unqualified to comment on its quality it seems deep and powerful.

Works for me!

I have many synth/drum machine apps, but one limitation is having to play on the screen for them. This feels much more natural to play on any surface to trigger the sounds. I haven't even had it for a week and it has already been updated with tap tempo and some other nice features.
BeepStreet has put out several wonderful apps, and this just adds to the list. Thank you!

Brilliant

I'm a long-time synth player and electronic musician. I've got many dozens of carefully chosen music apps. This is easily one of my favorites.
Simply brilliant. Great groove machine. Very easy to use, but not at all shallow.
Extremely fun in minutes. I cannot easily stop smiling while using it.
If you guys never do another thing in your entire lives, I will always consider you to be enormously successful, based on this app alone. But please, don't stop...

WOW

We already know that Beep Street can make some really great synths. I learned that from Sunrizer. What ever they are doing for input filtering is working great! I played with this in a room with a TV on and friends talking, it worked fine even then. I'm also running it on an iPod 4 with no lag and no crashes. The live looping recorder is super easy to use and it's really quick to get to any control in the app, I think that they put a lot of thought into the interface, and it shows. Thank you guys, this is great!

Wow

I was hesitant to get this app at first... After owning a Korg Wavedrum Mini (which, for those of you who don't know, produces a similar result through the use of a clip on device), I didn't think an app could produce anything as good as that. Well sorry Korg, I'm afraid Impaktor may just have you beat! (no pun intended) :)
The thing that makes it better than the WD mini is that you can edit the sounds, and in a variety of ways too! ... sort of like tweaking an analog synth. Also, you can quantize your playing, a feature the WD Mini sorely needed. Plus, Impaktor has a metronome, another detail Korg overlooked.
(And all this coming from a huge Korg fan.)
Although, I will say that the app does need a little work, perhaps with responsiveness in some of the patches... but I like the fact that they plan on adding more sounds! I give it 5 stars because of it's already high quality, and because of the promise that it shows.
I think this one of the best apps in the app store! Great work guys.

Really great!!!

I've never bothered rating an app, let alone writing a review, but this app is so good I wanted to help them out. I'm a musician and I often play shows solo by making loops, and this is such a nice change from the drum machine sound. You can create really great beats quickly, and if you spend some time tweaking the sounds the end product can sound great. This app was worth every penny. I'm sure it'd be great fun as a toy, but my sole reason for buying an iPad was to utilize it for music making. Now, it's the most versatile electronic instrument in my setup, and this app is a fantastic addition to it. Thanks!

Buy it!!!

This is one app you won't experience buyers remorse with! If your an iOS musician, digital audio producer, or a sound designer you'll find yourself making custom preset after preset! I'd intended to keep my review; short and sweet! But after playing with this app, I see why most reviewers have been long winded! It's a Brilliant music production app! This is my new sound design secret weapon!

Awesomeness. Thanks BeepStreet Team

This app is worthy of five stars. Impaktor is the best sounding synth and is very well built with sidechaining similar to NI Massive.
On the current version, the only drawback is the recording function lacks a count-in. Also recording does not begin recording at the top of the measure. The bounce function is also a bit wonky.
I'm hoping to see some great updates soon. Thank you BeepStreet.

This is like the Pulse Controller, but for iDevices!

First off, Beep Street didn't pay me for this five star review, and if anything they are earning their paychecks big time with this app!
The people at Beep Street amazes me yet again with another music app! First off there is this other controller for intel Mac (still waiting for the PC version) called Pulse Controller and was amazed by it because it does the same thing this app does except it triggers sound in the DAW. So while I only have a PC I'm waiting, and waiting for that version to come (if it ever does), out of nowhere comes Impaktor!
To get right to the review, I was tapping any and everything that was on my TV Tray (highly recommended) 3 cups of water filled at different levels, an empty container, and anything else I can get my hands on! The trick is to adjust the levels to your liking according to the sounds in the preset or creating your own and mangling them to how you want it to play out. For heavy handed hitter like myself, I would recommend going to settings and adjust the input sensitivity to 3 low, or whatever suits you best. I am still in the experimenting stages of this app but can truly honestly say that the description of this music app is worded to a tee and am just having a blast with this beauty!
In closing I want to say that Beep Street caught my attention back in November with the Sunrizer music app which was on sale for 99 cents, and while I was looking at the price, I didn't realize I was getting one heck of a synth, and Synthstation 25 compatible at that! With companies like Beep Street that put out awesome quality and innovative music apps, I know that I am getting my $'s worth.
Thanks Beep Street and looking forward to updates, and possibly a large sound library just like in Sunrizer,
A.M.
PS Could it be possible to make this Core MIDI for me to use in part with Midi Bridge to trigger wirelessly in Reason 6? It would be like having the Pulse Controller but in a iDevice

Dude...

This is awesome! I'm one of those sad individuals for whom drumming is not just a thing to do to pretend to have a talent, but a way of life. This means anything around me is at risk of being thwacked rhythmically. This app brings out the worst in that habit, and to great effect. Tons of great preset sounds, a perfectly intuitive loop recorder, and an elegant interface all work together to bring this funky idea to life. Thanks guys! I can't wait to see what y'all do next!

everlastingly blown away

I rarely write a review but feel compelled to here. For me, this app is perfect for my music composing and I'm amazed at how well thought out it is in terms of sound comlexity. Its much more than I thought it was and love the way it interprets sound through the mic into so many varieties of output. I may never feel the need for another percussion instrument. Thanks so much for such a quality piece of creative sound making software. Just a note that sometimes it doesn't record when I'm recording in solo mode...

Stop reading reviews and buy this app right NOW.

No ...really. Stop reading this. You are wasting valuable time - time that you COULD be using to amaze yourself with how incredibly great this app is.
What? You're still here? Still reading instead of banging out some of the best drum/percussion sounds you have ever heard? Why? Stop reading this and just buy the app. I am not kidding.
Life is too short to waste reading me telling you how great Impaktor is when you could be tweaking and fine tuning deep, rich, subtle, bright, musical, powerful, funny or intriguing new percussion timbres and whaking out beats as easily as you tap your fingers on a table.
Don't read any more. Just buy it. You will NOT be disappointed.

Beyond words

Holy moly, the holiest of moly!
This app is so well executed, the current sounds are amazing, and its synthesis so there will be more to come, not to mention you can tweak now. Perfect sensitivity right out of the box, was able instantly transform finger taps to true percussion effortlessly.
This app is so innovative and perfect i predict it will be in commercials to sell idevices. Definitely buy this one NOW!
BeepStreet does it again!
