Out dated

Don’t get. I bought it while I was looking at getting a new projector. Not knowing that they were not doing any more updates. And some of the brands I was looking at getting, they were not on this app.

Last update was one 6 years ago.

Poorly designed and incomplete

To start with, the app is poorly designed with no ability to bookmark a projector or even to *search* for a projector. Considering the number of projectors and brands out there, you can imagine how tedious this makes using it.

The bad design I could at least live with, but on top of that, many of the of lenses available for various projectors aren’t available, making it actually unusable if you have those lenses. Both projector/lens combinations that I have are not available and one of the projectors is rather common and produced under three different brand names, none of which have the right lens available for use.

It’s rare that I post negative reviews, but these issues are so easily fixed and blatantly obvious that I felt I had to. The app should be free if it is this poor.

Great app. Responsive support.

Two points: Have been using this app now for a few years. Have only run into a projector missing from their data base twice now. Both times I emailed the support address, provided the projector model number, and the missing projector was added very quickly. Like, within 24hrs.

The most important calculations are included in this app and they are reasonably accurate. This is esp. true of Foot Lamberts or the perceived intensity/brightens of a projected image, keystone, and image size vs. distance.

Price is reasonable and their update model seems fair - considering the tool remains free when accessed through a browser.

Not working with IOS 11

I updated to the latest version of iOS. This app is not supported for iOS 11. Can someone please fix this? I use this app all the time in my line of business. It would be a shame that I spent money on this thing and now it’s not supported. Please fix.

Freezes. Needs to be updated and bug fixed.

This is an extremely useful app, but it will freeze when it is in the background. It becomes unresponsive. You have no choice but to kill the process and start over.

Projector central's web app is flash only, so mobile users are a little hamstrung. I hope the developers will update the app for 64bit and fix the freezing bug.

I gladly would pay more for the app since it is so useful but only if the problems were fixed.

Great presentation, simple to use. Please update!

I just purchased this app in full knowledge that it is not 64-bit ready and may soon become obsolete. I already knew that my recently discontinued projector was in their database.

The app is very well done, easy to use, with a great visualization of the projector to screen setup. Not to mention it comes from a highly respected forum in the AV community.

To be honest, why people complain about $2 for any reasonably functional app is beyond me. As far as I'm concerned, just my single use of this app is well worth the $1.99 purchase and I would have no problem paying for updates to the database. Putting things in perspective, a good app is certainly worth a lot more than a cup of coffee or a beer. As Stan Lee would say, "Nuff said!"

Works on iPhone not on iPad Pro

Web page on Safari needs flash. They recommend the app for iOS phone & pad. Does not function at all on the iPad. Seems to work on the phone. I'll write an amendment from my phone.

Caution. You only get access to the projectors that were in their DB when purchased. If they add more, then they want more money.

Good

This is a good app for finding a projector throw distance when you don't have a device that can use flash (like a smart phone). I recommend it!

nice tool

Appears to be handy tool. On first use noticed the slider bars were a bit difficult to stop where you wanted. Needs a bit more control for precise distance. Maybe a plus/minus key for incremental movements.

Also would be great if iPad compatable. A bit small on iPhone but yet very useful. I like the archived models too. Well thought out needs some tweaking to get 5 stars.

Not bad for version 1.0, still room to improve

If you are not familiar with the Projector Calculator Pro, every AV professional I have ever talked to uses it as a standard tool during an installation. I have use the free web version for years, but I have been waiting for an iOS version I could have in my pocket for on site consolations and installations.

Pros: Useful for specifying image size or throw distance, and quickly pulling up projector specs.

Cons: I would still use the online version for selecting which lens to use, finding comparable projector models, or when fitting a projector on a screen with a non-standard aspect ratio. I do not like that the image size and distance sliders cannot be displayed at the same time. Not a deal breaker, I hope this is fixed on a later version.

In the end, the best projection calculator app on the market. Well worth the $1.99 for any AV professional.

Alas, one of my favorite projector resources come to iOS

I've been using projectorcentral's online calculator for years. It is an excellent resource for any model projector to find out the throw distance you need to achieve the projection size you want. The hiccup was that their online interface was flash based, which made it impossible to access on an iPhone. For a 1.0 app and $2, this fits my needs perfectly and I'm glad I am given the opportunity to pay them for this resource I have used over the years.

For the next version, please add a home screen where I can add favorite projectors.
