Carrier MyInfinity App

A very lousy product, including the wall control and furnace!

App Doesn’t Work

I’ve had an Infinity system for about 1.5 years now. For the first year, the app worked completely fine. About 6 months ago it stopped logging in. Any time I try now, it only throws an error and says it can’t connect to the server. Absolute garbage, and unbelievable considering the price point of this system.

The app does not interface with the thermostat. I do not get notified of system failures and am unable to manipulate the temperature and the settings remotely.

What’s the holdup?

I cannot recommend the Carrier app to anyone. And it’s particularly disappointing that this is the quality of app associated with an AC system that was top of the line and extremely expensive.
I’ve been waiting for two years for an update to this app and have seen notes for just as long that one is coming. It’s not here. And in the meantime I would recommend that everyone stay away from buying a Carrier

Useless APP, love the HVAC

Like many legacy companies where IOT or Connected home is not their corporate priority, Carrier obviously has deployed an inferior mobile app. We bought our system 5 years ago and I have never been able to reliably use the iOS APP. There is always a connection to the server issue and forget about talking on even email communication with Carrier.

I have successfully used this remotely for several years and suddenly it doesn’t allow me to log in saying it doesn’t recognize my info. I have changed it and still no luck. This is a very important feature to me and my Honeywell at my other home works fine.

App is crappy. Period!

Both the carrier app and the carrier infinity app worked ok when the hvac unit was first installed about a year ago but in the past two or so months it just stopped I cannot use the app to change the thermostat. Have to use the wall unit which is a pain at night if you are upstairs and need to adjust the temperature. Keeps saying not connected to the internet yet the wall unit has a full connection and says my remote access has full internet. Theappsays it doesn’t. I reinstalled the app as reset it and it worked once then minutes later the same “not connected” message appears. Doesn’t matter if it’s the iPhone or iPad. Same disfunction. ( And by the way, my internet connection and gateway isJUST FINE, so don’t blame it on that. )
This app is a piece of junk. There’s no good guidance for it. I’m sorry I got the carrier system -had I known this I’d have purchased some other brand. You’d think a big corporation would hire decent competent techies to develop an app that actually WORKS! Hey carrier, when ya gonna fix this??? Just read the reviews !! It’s pretty obvious the app needs fixing!!!!!!!!!

Does Not Work

I can’t believe we spent $10k+ on an HVAC unit and this is the crap application we get. It DOES NOT WORK. If you try to adjust the temp from the app, it only works about 10% of the time. The app says the setting is one thing, but when you look at the actual thermostat it is still unchanged.

App & Thermostat Work Well

My Infinity Carrier system has been great. I can schedule each day of the separately for fan speed, humidity, and temperature range and have settings for when I am at home, away, or asleep. There is another setting for waking up that I do not use. If I am at home when the schedule is set for me to be away, it is simple to modify on a temporary basis. The scheduling function saves me from unnecessary utility costs, and I really appreciate it.

Works (mostly) for me

I recently upgraded to the wireless enabled thermostat on my 8 year old Infinity system. I don’t think the app is that great but it has been working for me without significant problems. The issues for me are the forcing to landscape mode and the delay between making a change and the system actually executing the change. Also I have an issue with the app having a different zip code than the actual thermostat so the weather is different but I can’t find a place to change it in the app. It does seem that Carrier should have fixed the app long ago since it is supposed to be a compliment to a premium system.

App never works

It never synchs up with my phone, the worst part is at night I am trying to change using app, but it does not work, I have to walk to the thermostat every time to change the temperature, just a remote to change temperature, how simple is that, not sure why it won’t work!!

Complete Trash!

If you’re even thinking about this system and app, think again! The app is a waste of time. I’d recommend just using the wall control, but it is the same trash as the app. Posting this in the hopes of helping others avoid this product.
Not sure why carrier cannot stick to air conditioners and leave software to the companies that know how to build software.

App doesn’t work.

I accidentally entered my username incorrectly when attempting to log in, and it’s been stuck loading for over a month.
I’ve deleted it. Re downloaded it. Deleted app data. Nothing works. It’s just stuck loading.
something this simple can brick the app, and I’m surprised for something that supposed to be one of the selling points on this brand new, expensive system.
I’ve already sent an email with no response.
I’ve waited for the app to time out and reset.

MyInfinity app is JUNK!!!

After spending quite a bit of money on what I was told to be the “Cadillac” of systems, which would only work with the my infinity thermostat and app I have to say I am severely disappointed. I have spent over six months now trying to use the app to control the thermostat in each and every time I log into the app it not only doesn’t work it locks up my entire phone and the only way to get out of it is to shut the phone down and restart it. I have to say I have a number of remote apps to control various items around the home and this is the only one that I have ever had a problem with. I have other properties which use other thermostats which I won’t name here but are pretty popular all seem they work flawlessly. To me, they need to totally junk this app and start from scratch it’s totally useless!!

What the

Super expensive and super not worth it. App won’t stay connected to system. Constantly says the Wi-Fi is the issue but the wall unit is fine. Only way to get it to work is to reset it once a week to reconnect it. Says there is a system upgrade but every time I try to do it, the system crashes and shuts off. I didn’t know this the first time around and did it at night before bed (during winter), and I woke up and the system crashed during the “update” and it was 51 degrees in the house! Piece of junk.

The worst

The worst AC app I have ever used. I spent a small fortune on both of my Carrier units. I now have to use 2 separate apps. A different app for each unit. My AC contractor says I have to use this app for this air conditioner. It doesn’t work half the time. I enter in the mode heat or cool enter in the temperature and nothing ever comes on. Sometimes it comes on the second time I enter it. The app is nearly useless. Antiquated and worthless. I would have not bought this unit if I would’ve known that I cannot have one app to run each of the units in my house. No wonder this app has such a low rating. Carrier needs to get it together.

Error code 8x0 -> Carrier systemic failure

Unable to login using the app. Troubleshooting has included all required steps to confirm device connectivity and accounts. This is a Carrier corporation strategic failure.
Based on a review of recent public Carrier financial records and reports; Carrier corporate strategy is focused more on commercial customers than residential customers to improve their profit margins.
As a result, I consider this corporate strategy to be the root cause of this system failure.
The application update history, indicates an antiquated waterfall software design approach which is more expensive and less effective than current agile software design strategies.

Lanscape only and unresponsive UI

What an absolute joke of an app. I just dropped 21k on a new HVAC system and this is the garbage app you have? Spend some money on your development team and fix the UI so that it can be used in portrait/vertical layout and actually quit the app instead of having to turn off my phone and exit that way. Laggy/buggy UI and landscape only. Considering returning the entire system over this.

Get real

This is a decent app. It easy, logical and not complicated. I had Ecobee, it was nice but you had to be a programming genius to operate the thing. The only frustration with this app is closing it. Why it doesn’t swipe close like 99% of the apps is beyond me. Good App

Decent when it works

Like everyone else, I spent a boatload of money on a very expensive HVAC system a few years ago and downloaded this app. It worked great for a couple of years then simply stopped being able to login. When the app worked, it worked just fine. It’s pretty much like having a thermostat on your phone/tablet. It’s missing a couple of features, but that’s fine.
My only critique is that when you change the temperature, you can’t simply tell it to switch back to the schedule at the next scheduled time - you must specify an actual time. But that’s also the way the thermostat works, so I guess it’s ok. (This feature is actually included in the newer Carrier Home app, which is TERRIBLE.)
My other critique is the dependability of their service. During the couple of years that it worked, it would simply stop working for weeks at a time. Then it would suddenly start working again. (The same happened with the Alexa skill.) Then one day (maybe 8 months ago?), they announced that everyone had to switch to the Carrier Home app so I did because the MyInfinity app had once again stopped working. Everything has been very dependable since then. Unfortunately Carrier Home is just awful - pretty much the only thing you can do is change temperature, and it has bugs doing that. But As I said, the My Infinity app stopped working so there was no alternative. Today, I tried My Infinity and it was working again! So I’ve switched back… until the next time it breaks.
I just hope they iron out the problems. This stuff just isn’t that complex. (I’m a software developer.) There are many smart thermostats on the market (which we can’t use) with great apps and are extremely dependable. Maybe Carrier can hire some of those developers? I’d expect a LOT more from an HVAC system with a cost in the 5 digits. Especially in an area that’s as easy to do as an app.

Worst app anywhere shame on carrier

Like everyone Else on this post spent a ton of $$ on the new system and was told I had to buy the $600 infinity thermostat that was superior to my Nest. Well 6 years later the system worked for 6 months and then nothing. It lost connection with their system all the time and it’s only function seems to be to try and dispatch the HVAC contractor out to collect fees and annoy the customer. I disconnected from their server over two years ago as it was worthless. Never worked with Alexa as they advertised. Carrier should either spend some $$ on fixing this or at the least provide consumers with some alternatives to Connect to third party thermostats Their diligence to try and protect their installer base is crazy. Most is them don’t want to install a new thermostat when their techs could be making more $$ on service calls. Plus I bet the call backs on the these crappy infinity thermostat is significant I know they had to deal with me at least 4 times until I gave up and they wanted to charge me.
Don’t ever buy a carrier system unless you want to have a totally manual system you have to physically touch the thermostat to make any adjustments.
Save your time don’t download the app and if you haven’t bought their system go elsewhere.

Flaky

Sometimes it works from phone, sometimes it does not. Changes in temp on phone seem to take a long time to have an effect. If I’m cold and turn temp up, the furnace should come on in 5 seconds or less. Instead it often takes so long I’m not sure it is working.
This should be so simple - but unfortunately it is not.

Very mediocre

Why does the app force users to landscape? So dumb. Plus Carrier does not integrate well with other ecosystems. Pretty crap compared to more innovative solutions, and unfortunately the thermostat is proprietary so I can’t easily swap ot out and not use this pile of an app.

Worst app ever

The Carrier app is better

This is the first of the Carrier thermostat mirrors but suffers from being in landscape mode which is harder to use, swiping each zone off before assessing another. (Presuming toy have multiple zones of course).
There is also a latency when closing this app - if you rush it the settings won’t transfer to ghe Thermostat.
Instead get the new Carrier app which is in Portrait mode and shows all three zones!
But today, December 7, 2021 that new Carrier app is Dead (I reported that to Carrier Customer Service). I trust they can rewrite it it to load again.
But fortunately I kept active this cruder MyInfinity app to get some remote settings control ability.
Annoyingly there isn’t Windows 10 app (or even access on Edge or Chrome). Only on an Android machine, yuck, or with the BluStacks gaming Android emulator that your Norton protection constantly disables
That said, the Carrier air handler is THE machine to utilize.

Crappy Interface response from App to Main Unit

I have been using the HVAC from Carrier and it’s top of the line unit. The interface from the app to the wall unit is crappy and lags that one has to get up to get close to the wall unit & manually enter settings. Former NEST user and this interface is no where close to the class of NEST. If it wasn’t for compatibility, would have never installed this sub standard unit.

So. Bad.

Here is my list.
1. Only landscape? Please!
2. Sign In never works for me. I’ve reset my password 7 times!
3. I’ve deleted the app. Reinstalled the app. Same problems persist.
4. Updated 6 months ago!?!? Come on! Read your reviews! DO something about it!
5. The thermostat on my wall is good/ great! BUT truly on usable HANDS ON… not with this app!

This software is just insanely awful

I’ve had the Infinity and iPhone app for several years now. It worked for about a month and dropped off. My wife wants me to buy a Honeywell because she heard the software works well.
I decided to give the infinity app one more try. It’s driving me nuts - same as before. I needed to change my password and got confirmation it ‘took’, I have the correct email ID (that’s where they sent my password change). But this absolutely stupid app would not recognize the password they just authorized!!! Urrgh. That was yesterday.
So, I tried again today and lo and behold it accepted my ID and password. Thought I would finally be set, but NO. It let me update profile info but when I went to login I got an ERROR message! Urrghhhh.
I’m going to buy the Honeywell as my wife suggests and after that I’m taking my (multiple expletive desired here) Infinity and smashing it to true infinity with a sledgehammer.
How can any business that depends on customer satisfaction let this go in for so many years?

Does not work - expensive mistake

The moment I opened the app to find a vertical only interface I know I’d made a very expensive mistake. Interface is limited and clumsy. When I make changes (click the temp up pr down) the app will reflect then but never sends it to the system. So an hour later the heat is still at the setting I had changed via the app, and it won’t actually respond until I get up and walk to the wall. I have limited mobility and the smart feature / iPhone access compatibility of the thermostat was important and it simply doesn’t work. Worse, carrier tells me no other thermostat is usable with this system. A common theme in these reviews is anger every time one opens the app and that is my experience as well. Dealing with this app puts me in a bad mood and can change my entire day for the worse. I read a reply from carrier dates four years ago pledging to fix these issues. How can a company get away with selling customers such a lemon? Buyer beware. I wish I had seen these reviews before buying the system.

Terrible app

The app is supposed to allow you to control the thermostat and HVAC system remotely but it is completely out of contact with the actual thermostat. The app shows that the thermostat is not connected to WiFi (it is) and that the outside temperature is 72 degrees (actually 52). This is completely useless.

Frustrating

This software is poorly implemented compared to my old Nest. Carrier would be muc better off if it released an update to allow its system to work with nest and to shutdown this I’ll advised software.
My biggest gripe (after general usability) is that I can set only 5 different time each day. That matters to me because we have variable electrify pricing and I can’t match the thermostat schedule to the pricing schedule without at least 6 changes to the thermostat each day.

Very poor Thermostat: remote connectivity

I am willing a make a change to Nest thermostat as remote connectvity tnrough this app is “ luck by chance” and works only 1 out of 10 try. My Installer told me if I change to Nest the Carrier will void rbe warranty on my furnace and AC. Hence I am stuck with this bad thermostat.

Abysmal user interface

Well the app works. I suppose that is a good thing. The UI for the app is nothing more than a copy of the UI on the controller hanging on my wall. Obviously not designed by a team with user design experience. Carrier should buy ecobee and reuse their device UI.

Bad sales reps

It’s sad that so many 1 star reviews have nothing to with the actual app but instead people upset they had to give up their Nest 🤦‍♂️ That is the fault of your sales rep, not the app developer. The Nest is a universal stat and doesn’t have the ability to run a variable speed air conditioner or use the dehumidification feature of the Infinity system.
I have 4 Infinity systems 3 of which were installed 2 years ago and I have never had a single issue with the app. It essentially is a mirror of the wall control both in appearance and user interface.

Latest app (March 2021) very buggy

I have used the old app for years. Yesterday the old app said it was migrating to an entirely new app, and I needed to download it. The new app is terrible. The new app allows temp hold times to be set in one minute increments though the wall timer only works in 15 minute increments. Set the hold time in the app for 2 hours, and it shows up on the thermostat on the wall as a permanent hold. The old app no longer works as it did, with set hold times no longer displaying like a clock. They have sort of disabled the old app so it doesn’t work as it has, but the new app is clean a beta test app with lots of problems. All this am my new Infinity Touch wall thermostat is only about 2 months old.
What were they thinking??????
Terrible New App-Works poorly
2021-02-25

Ok- could be more simple

The app is just ok. I haven’t had any major issues that I couldn’t work thru on my own. There a couple of issues I wish would be fixed/changed:
1) when you make a change a to the schedule or temp via the app. The change will not execute on the thermostat unless you click into the menu and then click back- like a “done” button but your literally changing pages to execute the change you just made. This is the biggest complaint. I had 2 WiFi Honeywell thermostats and when you changes anything via the app - the change was made in the wall unit simultaneously. No done button, no changing pages. Carrier needs to fix this.
2) I now have 3 carrier WiFi thermostats. The way the app handles/ lists multiple locations is bad. First, when you open the app, whatever location you have listed first on the MyInfinitytouch website is what will show when you the app. Unfortunately for me that location was is the least used thermostat, but I installed it 2 yrs ago so it was first. If you multiple locations, when open the app - the app should first show the locations from which to choose...OR carrier should allow to change the order in which the locations appear on the MyInfinitytouch website. The way it is now is terrible.

One year later, still awful - Horribly designed app

I wrote the below review a year ago. The developer responded by saying an update would be out soon, etc...12 months later and not a single update has been released. Carrier obviously doesn’t give a crap about their customers, else they wouldn’t use this garbage “app” as a selling point for their system and then put in the absolute minimum effort in building/supporting it.
———————————
The app will not rotate with your phone. You have to turn the phone horizontal to use it, which is a pain. In addition, every time there is a software update to the wireless thermostat, it breaks the app. You’d think after dropping almost $15K on this system they would at least have a usable and user friendly app that doesn’t break whenever they deploy a software update to the thermostat.

Very satisfied

We recently had to installed a new furnace/air conditioner as our previous furnace was 25 years old. I was interested in a furnace with modern capabilities including a “smart thermostat”. Carrier offered, in our town, what we thought was the best option but I was very concerned about the poor reviews published on the thermostat. In contrast to those reviews after almost six months of use we are very satisfied with both the furnace and the thermostat. The latter works very well and it is quite intuitive to set up. The missing star on my ratings relate to the instruction manual that to me it can be greatly improved. Otherwise all good

Worst app, Needs a major update to be current

Update: app is no longer working, can’t connect, states “An error occurred while connecting to the server code(8x0). Tried deleting app and reinstalled, same error. Checked thermostat and it states it connected to WiFi and server. What kind of company sells a top of line unit with a broken , ridiculous obsolete app with no support. Horrible app and wised I never bought carrier infinity unit. Carrier if you are reading this , get some one else to program your software, since you cannot fix it
Just installed a infinity system and had to switch my thermostat from a ecobee 4 to the infinity system. Carrier needs to update their app to be relevant in 2020. Give us screen rotation , auto login with Face ID and Apple HomeKit support
Absolutely ridiculous to have a high end system and an app that is 8 years behind

Hugely Disappointing

After spending a small fortune for a top of the line Carrier variable speed air conditioning system with a wifi thermostat, the thermostat app no longer works on my IPhone. Originally, the app worked fine. I could be anywhere and turn our HVAC on or off. That operability lasted several months. Now I can’t even get the app to open on my phone or tablet. I now have no remote access to the thermostat. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the app. No change.
Another feature I would like to see is to turn off the smart feature that activates the system in advance of the set times. I would like to set the heat to come on at 7 am, not 5:30 or 6 or whenever the thermostat decides.
In short, I love the variable speed system but the thermostat has some serious shortcomings.

All around poor products

The whole Infinity system, from the furnace, to the thermostat, to this app, are poorly designed and executed. The Infinity furnace has been cheapened and is now a budget furnace at an expensive price. The Infinity thermostat is full of bugs and won’t properly control the furnace. The system keeps shutting down after 15 minutes and then restarts after being off for 3 minutes. Service is incapable and unresponsive of fixing anything. To top it off, this app has to go through Carrier servers which are slow and don’t update the status quickly. When I’m on the same Wi-Fi, I should be able to access the thermostat directly. Stay away from Carrier. They are not worth it even if you think you are getting a good deal.

Works great...

We just replaced our furnace and a/c with the latest Carrier model, the top model of the Infinity series that includes this Infinity Touch Thermostat that also works with this app. I have read the reviews for this app (good and bad ones) so I was skeptical about it. After a week of using this app in daily basis I decided to write this app review. For me has worked great (not issues at all since the first day it started running in my iPhone 11 Pro Max) with the latest iOS 14.2) it does exactly what the wall panel does, it is like a second wall panel but in your phone. It was very intuitive. I can control the furnace, humidifier and a/c very simple. I can create schedules and modify them easily. It also works fine with my Alexa system. The 2 remarks I have is that this app only works in landscape mode but I got used to and the second remark is that the registration web-site wasn’t responding when I tried to register my thermostat, I had to try 5 different times until the website finally worked. Before I had a similar Carrier system from 2000 that was controlled with a Smart Honeywell Thermostat (from 2017) that worked very well too.

BAD, BAD, BAD

Just had my Carrier HVAC system installed 3 days ago and still can’t get the thermostat to respond to the app. WOW! Just super disappointed with the amount of money I spent for this thing not to work. I’ve changed the schedule several times through the app and not once has it stuck. The system itself is wonderful but to put out a crappy app for this thermostat is just not cool (pun intended). You’re better than this, Carrier! Not even sure if I can go back to my old thermostat that I can control with an app, but I’m sure gonna try. Beyond disappointed.
Edit:
While I still hate this app, I found somewhat of a workaround. While I think you shouldn’t have to do this since that’s what this app was created for, you can actually grant permission to your Alexa if you have one and use it to control your thermostat. I found this out accidentally while waiting for carrier customer service to answer my call, which after waiting 45 minutes never happened. It’s not the best fix but it’s something. Hope this helps someone. Wish I had known this almost two months ago when I got this stupid thermostat installed. It has to be done from the desktop sign in, not the mobile version.

Horribly inaccessible app

I really hope that both the software developers as well as the general counsel for carrier take time to read through this review. As a blind consumer who just spent $10,000 on a new HVAC system from my house, I’m extremely disappointed that I had to leave the Nest universe in order to gain access to the full features of this platform. The iPhone app is completely in accessible for any user requiring the voice over text to speech tool. Apple has made it very easy for developers to gain useful guidelines on building accessibility features into their apps, and this app seems to turn everything in that universe upside down. Hopefully, carrier will realize that a little planning on the development side to a sure accessibility can go along way, creating not just a user-friendly experience for blind and visually impaired consumers around the globe, but also just making better user experiences for all consumers. It’s a shame that their developers completely shirt consumers such as myself, and even mine boggling that this never came up in any developer conversations as a major OEM in today’s world of online user experiences should make sure that their platforms are accessible for all customers.

Disappointed HVAC Contrator

I’m an HVAC contractor and Carrier dealer. As a technician and installer I’ve always preferred Carrier to all other brands and also recommend them above all else. When it came time for a new system at home I was anxious at the chance try Carrier’s top of the line offerings.
I’ve had the system for a few years now. Most everything about it has been wonderful with one exception... I’ve had nothing but trouble with the MyInfinity App. The app is VERY unreliable. Adjustments made on the app will not register on the system. It’s very frustrating. I’ve had several of my customers complain of the same issues and question why I sold it to them in the first place. PLEASE FIX this ASAP. Reps have been claiming improvements are on the way for a long, long time. Losing my patience

Improvements Still Needed

After having a Nest thermostat for the last ten years, and upgrading to the best Carrier units available, I am very disappointed with the use abilities of the MyInfinity App. I would like to see multiplayer thermostats on the first screen of the App without having to touch three times to change to a different thermostat; I would like the App to be able to let me know if the App actually made the change- many times I change turn on or turn off a thermostat with the App only to realize later than it never really happened- this is very frustrating indeed. The time lag from the time the unit is turned on with the wall control or App seems excessive while the system reads the pressure across the filters before the until actually starts cooling? Can I simply go back to my Nest Thermostats? as they actually worked and are very intuitive!
Sincerely a long time Carrier customer for over 25 years!

Disappointed

My installation was completed today on my entire new furnace and central AC. One of the biggest selling points for me on the system was the thermostat/app connection which seemed so much more sophisticated and user-friendly then other models. I was so excited to get it synced upAnd within minutes the wind has been completely taken out of my sails. The app does not reflect anything as far as temperatures or the adjustments that I’m making on the thermostat. One reads 70° when the other one reads 72°. I cannot close the app without restarting my phone. It crashes over and over again. Thermostat is starting to give me issues as well. I’ve only had the system up for six hours and I am on the verge of tears.I just paid $15,000 for the system trusting the carrier name. This is just awful. What kind of mess if I gotten myself into with this new system?!

New system and this is the app? Disappointed

I went from a worthless HVAC system that had a Nest thermostat for 5 years. That stat was the only thing that worked perfectly and was a joy to use via app or device! Now I have the top of the line Carrier and this app can’t even be in portrait mode, Really? The login is even going off the side of my phone. Once signed in, which you needed a website outside the app to do that part. Why? Is this 1998? I have expected a hit counter on the bottom of the start page. Once signed in this app is slow to respond and leaves you with a bad taste knowing how much this system costs! It truly is the worst app I have used on an Apple device! I wish I could leave no stars and just this... 😒 further more as an IT professional, I have seen many terrible apps. Congratulations on winning that shameful award.

Disaster at Best

This app struggles immensely in so many areas. First, being stuck in landscape mode is just an odd choice for a mobile app of this nature.
Second...and beyond...the interface and communication. The interface is very clumsy and error riddled when attempting to use it (change settings, apply holds, return back to schedule, etc.). Rarely works properly and does what you are wanting it to do. If that isn’t bad enough, a bigger problem is it’s communication between the app and the thermostat. They are rarely in sync, and there is never a guarantee that any change you make in the app will ever be applied to the system (or that a change to the system shows up in the app).
In short, this system is an extremely expensive failure. I would urge anyone looking at the Carrier Infinity system to find a different brand, step down on the system and work with the Nest thermostats. I have had those in prior homes and have been very happy with them. I allowed myself to be talked into this and I regret every bit of my decision.

UPDATE: Cannot Close App Since iOS 13

Update to Jun 19, 2020 rating. App CAN be closed! Need to be on Home page. Sweep up from bottom - landscape view - to close it. Note a bar - short line - at the bottom indicates close point. Also was able to install 3.40 update to thermostat. Somebody must be listening! Oh, app changes settings. Never had that problem.
PRIOR rating comment follows. Was perfectly happy with app until iOS 13 was installed. The app cannot be closed in the iOS 13 manner. Must Shut Down the iPhone to return to the Home page or any other page.
I find that one cannot make changes to the settings, either. See “GranpaF” review - gave this app a generous 3 star - He describes it in more detail - the no close matter as well.
Am rating this 1 star to get your attention and a fix. Cannot understand why this has not been corrected yet.
Finally got a Thermostat Update Available message for v 3.40. I authorized this but it never finished Had to turn off my system to get my thermostat screen back. It had been black. Do not believe the 3.40 is for a Carrier branded unit. The latter version appears to be 3.01. My version is 3.0
Please fix the app. Worked fine for iOS 12

Nice App, but Difficult to Close in iPhone 11

I like the capability this app provides for remotely controlling our furnace/air conditioning system. However, it is very difficult to close the app or to get back to the desktop on my iPhone 11.
Normally, to close or minimize an app, I swipe up from the bottom of the screen. At that point, all open apps should appear in a series of reduced size windows, and I can swipe up to close them, tap on one to select it, or tap on the desktop to minimize all open apps. The MyInfinity app doesn’t respond this way. If I try to swipe up, it just changes to the screen that shows Features in the upper left and Menu in the lower right. I have struggled for quite a while trying to close the app, and I eventually find a way to do it, but I should be able to close it like any other app.

Good but a couple of major deficiencies

The MyInfinity app on my iPhone properly reports and controls the temperature in my condo in both heating and cooling modes.
The first major problem is that in heating/ vacation mode it try’s to bring up the temperature too quickly at the end of the vacation period. The result is that it goes to auxiliary electric heat which is very expensive. The work around is to start the day before you return and bring up the temperature a degree at a time being sure not to raise the temperature not more than a degree every hour or two. I would think Carrier could bring up the temperature slow enough to avoid going to auxiliary heat.
The second problem is that the wall control unit and the iPhone do not report the correct energy usage at this time. It was reasonably accurate until an update toward the end of March. There is a software error that results in the energy reading on the iPhone being consistently 5.88 times the energy reading on the wall unit. This 5.88 factor applies to daily and monthly figures in cooling, heat pump, fan, electric heat and total energy usage.

A bit quirky, but gets the job done!

Just got a new HVAC installed yesterday and have been using the app since then on my iPhone X.
Like others have said, the app forces landscape. It really just mimics the control layout on the thermostat itself instead of being more user friendly. It’s a bit annoying, but ultimately I don’t mind as much.
I have not had connection problems yet. But we’ll see how that works going forward.
One super important thing though is that the syncing between the app and the thermostat is NOT instant. It takes up to 3-5 minutes for changes you make on the app to take effect on the thermostat itself. As a software engineer, I suspect this is from poor design on Carrier’s part where the in-home thermostat periodically polls their server for changes instead of having changes immediately push to the in home unit.
(Update: 1 week in, updated to 4 stars. Yes it has some quirks, but once you adjust for them, it’s pretty seamless and is like the touch screen controller)

Never buying Carrier again

I recently replaced 2 furnace and A/C units with new ones. We had been using Ecobee thermostats with the original ones, and they worked great - the new units, however, only “work” with the Carrier thermostats. Ok, fine, whatever... but, these new thermostats don’t work remotely — I travel frequently, and so want to be able to change the temperature before I get home. I change the temperature in the app, and it shows that it has been changed; my wife checks it from her phone, and it also shows that it has been changed... but, at least 80% of the time the thermostat doesn’t actually change the temperature until we get home and touch it, at which point it wakes up and goes “Oh, hi! Yeah, I’ll get right on that...”
Clearly Carrier doesn’t care - in spite of the 1.5 star rating this app was last updated 11 months ago (based on the behavior I suspect it is actually the thermostat not checking in and getting the updated info, but still...)

Terrible Interface to a Great HVAC

I could list all the issues with this app, but they’re really the same everyone else has already mentioned. Not only is the app terrible to use (especially compared with the Ecobee and Nest apps), but it is increasingly unreliable. I’ll frequently manually adjust the temperature in the app (while on my home network and off of it) only to not have that reflected at all on the actual thermostat. It’s unreliable to the point where I can’t even determine why it’s failing. The lack of any kind of HomeKit integration when Carrier’s own Cor thermostat does have this integration is unacceptable.
This is supposed to be the top-of-the-line HVAC, and it is. But the interface we’re forced to use (since other 3rd party thermostats cannot control variable speed cooling systems) is unacceptable. I’m hopeful that Carrier will spend some much needed time and resources to develop this app and improve it, but from their track record (as of the time of this review, it’s been 9 months without an update) it seems highly unlikely.
Carrier - give us HomeKit integrations, or at least provide an open API so that we can build our own integrations into Home Assistant, etc. It’s the least you can do.

App does not change programming!!!

I do not know what happened in recent months but the app has stopped being able to change the program of our thermostat. It used to work (albeit poorly) but no longer. If I make a change in the app and go to the thermostat nothing has changed! It just does not work!!!
I totally agree with so many others who have expressed regret with purchasing the high end Infinity system from Carrier, since it does not work with Nest (apart from having system rewired and doing away with certain higher end features). It is obvious that Carrier does not care about customers like us who have spent more on a system only to find out that it’s wireless thermostat is incapable of working with the app! They have a lot to learn from Nest!!!
Get with the program Carrier and listen to your customers! Get this abysmal app updated. Spend some of your earnings to hire a developer or team that knows what they are doing and can get your app to work with your system. Or are you telling us in your silence that you don’t really care about customers who pay more to get what is supposedly your “best” system for the consumer. Give me a break!

Excellent system, Do your Homework

We had a new carrier furnace and ac system installed in September of 2019. When we were doing our research and “homework” on different systems and options available, we easily determined that certain new systems may not work with Nest and similar thermostats. The carrier infinity system is, in our opinion, an outstanding system, and the infinity thermostat and app work flawlessly. I have an iPhone XR, and closing the app works perfectly fine if you swipe up from the bottom with the phone in the proper orientation for the app, on the side.
We do not have super fast internet and we have never had an issue with the app connecting or functioning properly at home or away.
If you just spend $8-10,000 on a new HVAC system without first confirming what technical devices work with it, then why would you blame the product and/or app and give it a poor rating?
If you have a “Nest” thermostat, or other similar thermostat, it is a simple question to ask when researching optional HVAC systems if they are fully compatible.
We are very happy with this thermostat and the features that it offers. We can track every penny that we spend on our heating and cooling and humidification on a daily, monthly, and annual basis! It has very flexible and customizable features that allow very specific settings.

Really? This App is 1990’s Tech

I’ve had my system for a year now and like many of you I gave up a nest thinking for the cost this equipment and Thermostat must rock! Sadly the equipment is great but the app is..... well almost worthless. First and foremost can we please get an app that doesn’t need to be in the horizontal position please, I mean like really I’ve waited a year and no really improvements to the app. I’m tormented every time I walk into Home Depot and see the nest thermostats I once loved and like a good girlfriend you don’t know how good it was until it’s gone.
I often try to set my thermostats in the horizontal app and they hardly ever take the changes which makes me have to get up and change it manually. Really? I mean if my kids still lived at home at least I could make them do it but because they are at their homes enjoying their nests thermostats I gave them
For Christmas last year I have to get up and do it myself! I’m honestly confused that this app and wall mounted thermostat can be so bad and without any real upgrades for over a year!
Great units but unless you have kids don’t plan on being happy with the thermostat or app they both are behind the times and with little to no improvement in over a year!!!!

Carrier: making a name for itself in bad reliability and bad interface

Who wants to spend over $10K on a top-of-the-line multi-speed Carrier Infinity HVAC and then have a continuously miserable Carrier experience almost daily thereafter? If you do, then this is the app for you. Its interface is mediocre, reflecting the interface of the Carrier Infinity Touch thermostat. But that’s not the big issue: despite many efforts over about eight months, I was never able to get it to reliably make any changes in the app that would affect the system. It would show the info correctly, but changes never went through. My previous system, and my 2nd AC unit, could be very reliably controlled by a Sensi thermostat and associated iPhone app. It was great! Any I could reliably control my Chamberlain garage door with their app: point being, the fault lies with Carrier. Really: their sales should be crashing because of the quality of this app. I moved several months ago, and it’s wonderful not to have a Carrier system.

Miss My NEST something awful!!!!

The MYINFINITY Scheduler program doesn’t work, I have to manually change temps all the time all day everyday from the wall control.
The remote app connects now a month after having the new HVAC installed in June 2019.
Carrier was having web server issues so I could not register the new HVAC. Now the app doesn’t control the temp. I set it to SLEEP temp remotely and it stays on HOME setting all night long. I check the app on my phone and it says SLEEP setting is on but wall control still says HOME setting completely bypassing the AWAKE setting.
Whenever I try to use the scheduling feature it changes to AWAY temp after a couple of minutes (?) can’t tell because the main screen on wall control only shows the temp date time and WiFi connection not what schedule it’s on.
So after watching the temp rise to the AWAY temp I have to change the wall control to HOME temp and HOLD setting. The HOLD Until time setting doesn’t work either. If I remember it also goes back to AWAY setting.
My old system was a Carrier system and that’s why I purchased this HVAC $10,400 after rebate of $1100 with 0% interest for 60 months via Wells Fargo Bank.
The last several updates were 3 months apart so maybe by winter there might be a fix. Who knows if the heating will work with this app.
Who is preventing the NEST app from working with this HVAC, Carrier or NEST?

The Worst

I don’t write reviews; however, I feel compelled to write this one to save others the frustration, disappointment and regret associated with installing a carrier infinity system. The MyInfinity application is the worst app that I’ve ever used. An outlandish statement, but true. What’s unfortunate, is that I’m stuck with it. The bad: It rarely (if ever) connects to the home unit when I’m away, it’s only usable in ‘landscape’ view and it’s terribly user unfriendly. I went from a Nest to Carrier and compared to the Nest, Carrier is absolute garbage - embarrassingly so. What is even more pathetic is that Carrier doesn’t seem to care. Referring to all of the terrible reviews, carrier hasn’t done a thing to resolve or address any of the complaints. Don’t make the same mistake that I and others have made - do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. There’s plenty of great HVAC companies. Carrier should be ashamed at their customer service.

Discovered why it’s not updating thermostat

For the longest time my infinity thermostat was not working with this app. I had given up hope and thought this app was forever broken. As I was scrolling through the settings on the thermostat and I found a setting in the wireless menu under advanced settings called “set device access password“. Now after some slight delay I can control the thermostat using this app. So for all those saying that this app does not update their Infiniti carrier touch thermostat please have a look through the advanced settings. I set that password to be the same as the infinity login with carrier.

Awful, disappointing & unreliable.

This app is likely the worst app I have ever had the displeasure of using...of course to have the displeasure of using it, it needs to actually work, which only happens about half of the time. For several days it has been unable to connect to the server, in fact if you attempt to troubleshoot, you just get that message on their website & over the phone. This means the app does not allow you to control anything, it just locks up. We “upgraded” to a carrier HVAC system last summer & have experienced this issue several times. We went from the very reliable & user friendly nest thermostat & app to this one when we got the new system last summer. What. A. Mistake. We are now considering buying a new smart thermostat that will actually function the way it was meant to, even though we will lose the ability to control certain features in our system. Wasting more money and time thanks to abhorrent technology.

Death by a thousand cuts

After getting the highest tech, top of the line HVAC system, one would expect an app to match. This app is such a let down from the HVAC tech and doesn’t live up from a product perspective.
From having to see a login screen every time I open the app even though I chose the “keep me logged in” option (and having to see a huge “demo” link constantly) to not being able to use the app at all because of server problems, this app finds a way to make my angry every single time. All I really want 90% of the time is to quickly see what my thermostat is set to, what the equipment is currently doing, and maybe turn the temp up and down...without having to get up and walk to the thermostat hanging on the wall late at night or early in the morning. (Never mind the fact that it might be even nicer to use my smart home tech to just tell the thermostat what I’d like as I do with my lights, electrical outlets, etc. - but this doesn’t integrate with smart home tech even though Carrier’s lower end thermostats do.)
There’s the old saying that “you get what you pay for”. We’ll, in this case, Carrier Infinity doesn’t live up to that promise.

Why all the problems??

After spending a considerable amount of money for a new Carrier system, the best available from Carrier, I was at first pleasantly surprised with the Touch thermostat that came with the system. The pleasant part of that did not last long. I had to quit using my Nest thermostat to go with this one and this app. Unfortunately, this thermostat does not work very well. The problem is all appear to be software-based. Changing the temperature temporarily is not nearly as easy as it is with a Nest thermostat. When I make a temporary temperature change with this thermostat, it never seems to work correctly afterwards.
One would think that it would pick up on the schedule where it left off, but it always seems to have problems. After using it for nearly 2 months now, it appears to just randomly pick some portion of the schedule and go from there. There is no reason this thermostat not function properly. I am very disappointed with Carrier for not putting any effort into making this thermostat function properly. I need to upgrade another system in my house and I’m not sure that I want to go with another Carrier system simply because their thermostat is so bad. I would highly recommend trying one of these really bad thermostats in your home before spending the money for one of Carrier’s high end systems. Hopefully Carrier will address the problems with their thermostats.

App incompatible with new thermostat?

We recently had our thermostat replaced because we were having problems with the other one—or so we thought. Turns out the problem was with the something else, but the thermostat was already replaced.
The rating on this app would have been much higher if we had the previous version. However, with this new one the app no longer works with the thermostat. The app says the connection is lost and to check the wall connection. We had the dealer out dozens of times to look at it but they didn’t know what was wrong. In fact the dealer knows virtually nothing about the app. I called Carrier a couple of times they don’t know what is wrong either.
They had me do a reset like someone suggested in another review but nothing worked. They even tried saying it was a problem with my ISP except everything else is working and it was working before the change. We gave up after a while.

Stick to Manufacturing or improve your tech game

Carrier may build good HVAC systems, but they’ve got plenty to learn on the tech side. Unfortunately, my new “5-stage” Carrier HVAC system won’t work with my Nest (shame on me for not figuring that out before pulling the trigger). So I’ve given up my smart learning thermostat (ie, Nest) for this dumb thermostat and app. Why does the app only work in horizontal mode (often inconvenient)? Why do I have to see a clumsy login screen every time, even though I set it up to remember my login? Why does this thermostat think no one is home at night time, and doesn’t even recognize I’m home when I walk by it first thing in the morning? Why can’t it learn if it can supposedly see when I’m home? App is okay for what it does, but could be a lot slicker. This is mostly a rant against the entire system, which give me no choice but to use this app. It feels like a DOS simulation in a Windows era. The only reason I use this is I’m not aware of a third-party replacement. I’m sure it’s coming, and I’ll change when it does. #GiveMeRealTech

Needs to reset to make it work

I am giving 5 not because it is worth it, I just want to make it outstanding so people can know how to fix it. I will give it a 3 for the app itself as the resetting stuff does not make any sense to make the connection work again, so ridiculous.
Touch and hold any black spot for a while on the screen will bring it to the calibration mode, which can be used to calibrate the touchscreen, I think this is what the reset supposed to do. However, for some reason the developer messed it up and by doing so you can reset the remote connection to their server. It is not documented anywhere, so funny.

Touch Screen Calibration

I’ve had my system for about 2-½ years now. Initially it worked fine. Over time I’ve had the same problems as the others here. No communication between app and thermostat, long delays in temperature changes when it did work. This past Sunday-Monday the system was down for maintenance. I checked the app after the maintenance but problems still existed. So I did a search of the reviews here and read about a reset that worked.
I read in the manual, limited info by Carrier, page 30, that it is called a Touch Screen Calibration. You touch the black area of your thermostat home screen, for about 15-30 seconds. The TSC screen will load. You follow step 1 which is to hold a stylus or ball point pen on the tip of a red arrow that appears on the upper left hand corner of the screen. Hold stylus or pen for about 2 seconds until arrow changes position to the lower right hand corner. Hold stylus or pen on lower arrow until home screen reappears.
There is a back button to return to the home screen if you do not want to do this calibration.
I did this then tried app changing temp. varies times and it worked. Today I changed temp while away from home. It worked. So far so good. All working now.
BTW, I live in the country and will get a periodic electrical outage. I wonder if that could be a cause of the problem. I will be monitoring this and will try another calibration if I have problems again. For now I give it 2 Stars. Using iPhone and iOS.

Reset of system works!

Thanks to the individual who gave this app a one star rating and in his write-up mentioned that you can reset the system by holding your finger in a black area of the wall thermostat for 15 seconds. I immediately tried his recommendation and it fixed the problems that I was having. Everything came back on after a few minutes and I am now even able to see the weather report that I was not able to get on the screen previously as an added bonus. My original reason for looking at reviews on the App Store was that my app had lost contact with the thermostat. Like the person Who rated this app at One Star I also spent several hours plugging unplugging and trying to figure out why I did not have a connection between the app and the thermostat. I do not understand why a company as large and professional as Carrier would not make known how easy it is to reset the system. That information should be front and center on documentation and on their help site on the web. Additionally, as part of the installation the HVAC professionals should be required to demonstrate a reset.

Thinking of replacing thermostat

Had the system for four years. Worked fine. Now, I can not adjust temp over wi-fi. I was on hold for more than 20 minutes before the tech came on. He said I needed a new router. Asked to speak to his supervisor. Another 10 minute wait. She wants to know what kind of router etc. Finally, she asked me what I am using to control it remotely. I tell her my phone. She asked me what kind of phone. I say an Apple phone. She says, “Oh. Apple’s new iOS update has broken the link and that feature no longer works.” First thought that goes through my mind is why the guy I spoke to didn’t tell me that, or why he didn’t even know it. She said they are waiting for Apple to issue a new iOS update to fix the problem. What is the point of a mobile app to adjust home temp if it only allows you to turn the system on or off?

Unreliable

If you’re considering an HVAC System that is controllable from your Smartphone consider a company other than Carrier. This app is unreliable 40% of the time in spite of my wireless connection between the HVAC router and the thermostat being at maximum signal strength and my ISP broadband at 99.9% availability. The iPhone app doesn’t reliably connect to the thermostat. When it works this app can mimic the information displayed on my wall thermostat and let me change the important settings. But it is extremely unreliable and I can’t depend on it to be correct. Yesterday morning the app could not connect to the MyInfinity server. This morning it shows my furnace is off when in fact it’s been running for 40 minutes—this misinformation happens frequently.
I’ve called the MyInfinity support number numerous times but have always been told they’re not having any issues with their servers. That tells me their entire process is broken. I called them again this morning and talked to a very rude service representative. He quit talking to me and switched me to their music feed. Great customer service—NOT!! I’ve given up calling them for help. Buy a Trans HVAC system and forget Carrier. They don’t get it.
I would give the app 0 stars if I could.

$$$$ with poor functionality

Like many I paid $$$$ 4 the top of line infinity hvac system only 2 find out it isn’t compatible with any home system out there; plus it is fraught with bugs such that it makes remote control of your hone system impossible which is the main reason I went 4 this expensive system. I needed the assurance I could check on my home while gone & adjust as needed. Shameful. Plus you don’t know this until you down load the app. The whole unannounced maintenance? That needs to stop and send notifications will be doing maintenance at x time. Simple dang fix 2 avoid the endless resetting of system. The poor quality of the the thermostat and it’s software isn’t mentioned on any reviews on the web 4 the furnace itself. Total bummer. Fix this please. Will be writing reviews where I can so other can know prior 2 purchasing this unit.

MyInfinity App

New system installed two days ago. As others have mentioned, it was unfortunate that I had to give up my Nest. Technically, I didn't have to and I could continue using the Nest, but you miss out on some features that are included with the Carrier branded thermostat. After two days my thermostat indicated it was disconnected from WiFi. Checked the wall unit and it was connected to my WiFi, but not the server. I disconnected and reconnected to the server and the wall unit appeared good, but the app still indicated it was disconnected. Tried all the normal stuff, rebooting router, disconnecting from the app, etc. All to no avail. Found a recommendation in another post that indicated that resetting the thermostat by touching a blank spot on the wall unit for 15 seconds. The unit reset and everyone came up good. Let's see if that fixes the problem in the long run. My other ask is that the would support Google Home integration.

So far, so good.

So far, I have not experienced any issues with this app. I have not had any problems with the WiFi connectivity either. I will agree with some of the other reviewers about the UI. I’m not really a big fan of it but it works and I can navigate it with no problems. However, I am a licensed HVAC/R journeyman and install these systems for a living, so that gives me a little bit of an advantage over most end users. The control is optimized for the Infinity system and the comfort level that you get with it is amazing. I’m sure that Carrier will continue to work some of the kinks out of the app and hopefully will make it even better in the future.

Definitely needs some work

Had to shut my Wi-Fi down for a few hours. When I turned it back on, the app still thinks it is disconnected. Days later it still thinks it is disconnected. This is even though there is some communication going on... It tells whether the unit is on or off and what the settings are. However, it won’t let you do your energy tracking and only has data from before the Wi-Fi had been shut down. I figured I will just log out, disconnect and then reconnect. Log out and re-logging in went fine. However, if you hit the wireless button it is completely grayed out and wont let you attempt to disconnect and reconnect. And finally, if you try to do anything over the weekend when they do system maintenance (which they don’t warn you about beforehand) it doesn’t work.

Most unreliable app in the market

I paid over $10,000 of hard earned money to have a top of the line Infinity system installed in my house. I was saddened to learn that Nest didn’t work with the system. I figured for a top of the line product their own technology would be suitable enough. I’m coming up on 2 years owning the system. The app has worked maybe 6 months of this time. It didn’t work out if the gate. Spent time with the heating company and Carrier direct trying to troubleshoot. An app update finally got it working. But you always had to enter the change you wanted then hit “refresh”. About a month ago it just stopped working again. No matter what you do, anything you input into the app never hits the system. The worst part is on the app it looks like it did... but the furnace never locks on. It’s not even an issue of someone else inputting something on the wall unit and over riding the remote command. Unless my dogs learned to stand up and press buttons is impossible. Very disappointed and had I known this MAJOR FLAW I likely would have purchased a completely different heating and cooling system and stuck with Nest. Very disappointed in Carrier for not hiring developers and programmers to get a reliable app in the market. Come on!

Worst user interface I’ve ever experienced.

Application provides less than acceptable options to adequately manage HVAC performance relative to real world end user living habits. It provides for only three variables with respect an occupants daily routine. Home, awake and sleep, how creative. The wi-fi interface is unreliable, at best. It is a disappointment given what I paid for the HAVC not to mention the outrageous price of the thermostat. Have you ever tried to update the firmware? Being a contortionist helps.
Oh, the app is supposed to allow for remote management of the thermostat but you seem to do unannounced maintenance on weekends that shut users out. Maybe you might want to publish a heads up. Don’t forget the left coast and right coast time difference. Oh and those little Hawaiian rocks.
Just ask yourself, how can I make my customer happy cause that’s not you current objective.
