I paid for the suite of services from ABBEY and am now mad I paid. I thought the scanner would come in handy as I work in insurance and often need to scan or copy documents while on the road. I scanned a few policies using this app and the result has been a nightmare. Instead of considering the scan one PDF it stores the files almost like individual images. A 20 page document turned into a 100MB PDF! That is ridiculous and it causes trouble when trying to email, print, work with, etc. This scanner is brutal and not worth the money. I'm going to buy a portable, desk top scanner now.

Every time I use the app, I'm pestered for a review. Anything nice I might have is erased by the incessant begging.

Usually works very well. Sometimes the image processing takes quite long - maybe that should be done in the background, so that a user can continue scanning. Yesterday Finereader crashed on me, which is very unusual though.

This is a great app. I really enjoy using this app. It is easy to use and easy on the eyes. It is a bit expensive and I would like to upgraded but I am waiting for a sale.

Hopefully, you would consider folders or tabs for organizing different stores, receipts, menus, etc. to find

Makes business easier

It would be great to support taking photos with the volume buttons. A remote is necessary for book scanning, and for the remote to work we need the volume buttons support.

When my flatbed got up in age and my multi-function fax machine was outdated, I chucked them both for Abby FineScanner and my iPhone. The quality and versatility of this combo was better than my old devices hands down. I link to my Dropbox. Now, when I snap a pic of my documents with FineScanner--wherever I am--my docs are waiting for me on Dropbox. This and a whole lot more. Kudos guys!

A wonderful alternative to a bulky scanner. Very portable with clean and crisp copies.

Typically, I never write reviews although I should! This app is super simple to use and has really saved my bacon with scanning books that only have a small portion of interest for me. I totally support BUYING books when I can, and hence supporting the authors and their hard work, however, I can't afford to buy them all!!

Been using this app for 12+ mos. It's my go-to for OCR'ing PDFs. Works better than desktop system provided in my office. Speed is excellent also. Keep up the good work!

Best scan app I have found. I have 8.

Export interface is a little in-standard and requires extra steps. With iCloud save, don't see this much but still would like it cleaned up to simple 2 step Apple approach. Just remove the first series of buttons. Maybe make another button for preset exports?

Would be happy to pay 0.99 to clear up the interface and get rid of the recognition adverts.

The price for the recognition is a little steep so not interested in that considering my Mac's $49 app does it just fine.

This app has everything you need all one.. They listen as well, if something is not working correctly, let them know, boom it is fixed. Think the app is lacking extras, let them know, boom it's there..! Couldn't ask for better app creators that actually care!!

Like other reviewers have stated, I've tried many other apps that try to do doc scanning as well as this one does. It has a very small learning curve and just enough options to be well-outfitted without being complicated. I highly recommend.

Over the last few years I have changed scanning programs 3 or 4 times on my iPhones. So far, Finescanner is the simplest and most efficient. Most of my mobile scans are from 2 to 5 pages and this program works quite well for them. Thank you Finescanner for providing this useful tool.

The pictures come out well and even if you accidentally make them a bit sketchy, the filters you can use help clarify any blurriness. My favorite features are the tagging system (especially since you can make your own tags and use multiple tags on a work), and the iCloud connection, which immediately sends the pictures or pdf to a cloud service (I use Dropbox). It helps keep everything digital when you don't want to go through the trouble of typing or finding a scanning machine somewhere.

Fast and efficient.

I've tried MANY scanning apps and this is best for a small business like mine. You have many features:

Add pages to a set at different times as needed.

Add photos from your phone's photos.

Doesn't store your scans to your phone unless you want it to.

Send your photos just about anywhere via cloud or email.

Send your scans as jpegs, PDFs or both.

Name your scans and change names as needed.

Still, the recognition and white balance are nearly terrible. Contrast needs to be almost stark white page agains matte black to recognize edges without having to crop manually. In a vehicle with ambient light and a black clipboard, I have to manually crop EACH scan 98% of the time (a waste of time) and it almost never white balances correctly, so 95% of the time I have to save my scans as b/w instead of their original color or they can't be printed later if needed without being too dark.

this is an extremely amazing app. It helps me can scan documents and save them quickly. I do not need to use professional scanners. The quality of the applications scanned extremely great. Fast scan speeds, easy editing

I got this app some time ago, but hadn't used it for a while, thinking I would at some point use it again.

Well, I can tell you for sure, this app just works as it's intended, and is simple and straightforward to use.

Do some of the features cost a bit? Yeah. However, they are QUITE useful.

If you are like me and have a BUNCH of things to get digitized, use this app. You won't be disappointed.

I bought a new iPhone 7 Plus a couple of days ago, and with the dual 12 MP cameras, this app is even more invaluable.

Super productive app! Why do you need a traditional scanner anymore? I use this now for expense reports and all document scans. The touch less scan function is awesome especially when trying to scan multiple pages at once. Highly recommend it!

I have used this app for years. It works well and super easy to use. However, after I updated my iPhone 6 to ios 10, to get the photos from phone album takes like 10 seconds (not right away as before). That black screen always makes me think that the app is not functioning! Please fix it.

One of my favorite scanning app. I use it as a tool to straighten photos of square objects like paintings, protected PowerPoint slides, etc. The automated edge detector works reasonably well but often needs manual fine adjustments. And apparently cannot fit slightly curved edges, such as those produced by pincushion lens distortions, even though an edge handler point appears in the center of the edge, between the two at the vertices of the picture side. I have not been able to grab and move that handler. As with many apps, instructions are well hidden somewhere.

I have used this app almost weekly for all scanning or uploading jobs for the past year. It has saved me so much time on multiple occasions. This app can take any photo you have in your camera roll and convert it to a scanned document with crisp text. Even a legal contract photographed with a regular camera with bad lighting, and emailed to you. That's great!

Let me state upfront this review is solely based on the book scanning portion of the app. I finally succumbed to the pop-up advertising to "buy" the book scanning portion only.

Honestly, I should have listened to my gut.

While it was a 2.99 purchase and I won't lose sleep over it, the promise is usually different than reality.

While I found it to be "decent to good" on the book portion that was able to lie flat, the "curved" portion wasn't flattened correctly on at least twenty scans that I took and resulted in what I can only describe as a "smeared" image. In my opinion, it doesn't really offer anything that the other scanning apps on the market do. At this point. Perhaps it will change in the future, but I'm not about to spend an hour digitizing my copy of Old Yeller.

Really a nice app, so I'm willing to put up with some quirks. One of them: since it snaps pix automatically, there are some misses. You can't delete these from a doc until after you've saved it, which is not intuitive. On the other hand, the advantages of auto scans far outweigh the disadvantages.

I use FineScanner to upload scans to Dropbox, which works great. The scans are excellent quality and you can tweak color, quality, and contrast.

I don't know how FineScanner compares with other scanner apps because it has always done what I needed it to do and done it well, so I haven't felt the need to look elsewhere.

I use this app to scan my drawings and the results are awesome! They look just like they were scanned using a real scanner. The best thing about this app is you can email yourself the document in either JPEG or PDF which both formats will give good quality. Overall, I am please with product. But I will say that there is a downfall. The app will freeze or sometimes run slow. So make sure you have enough data to run the app.

For printed text in a magazine, book, etc this app works well, the book OCR is interesting. I need it to OCR hand written text which the app description says it does. Luckily there is a seven day free trial for OCR because it does not work for hand written text at all. Multiple attempts ended in errors and didn't even attempt output, garbled or not. So minus a star for not working and another one lost for inaccurate app description.

I absolutely love this App! It's saved me many times at work when I've needed to send a document and haven't had access to a fax or printer. I would highly recommend this app to anyone... You never know when you'll need to sign & email a document.

Went through a few apps that were supposed to work the same. This is the best one and it actually is free to use. Other apps are free to download but then charge you to convert to PDF. This is truly a free PDF and offers password protection, multi-language features and other bonuses for a reasonable fee. Awesome app, perfect for the documents I needed scanned. Great graphic quality.

The only two things I'd think of adding in an update are:

the ability to import multi page PDFs from ibooks, email, cloud hosts etc

the ability to mark PDFs and images up with multiple, numbered selection zones when OCRing, thus ensuring that an OCR occurs in the correct order (which presently DOES NOT happen if you OCR multi-column or multi-text-box source).

I'm familiar with ABBYY FineReader on the Mac, so I knew I had to give this app a try. My two biggest gripes with iPhone OCR is poor recognition and the inability to run OCR on more than one page at a time. This app eliminates both drawbacks! Recognition is slow and has to be sent out to the server (so make sure you have a Wi-Fi connection) but it gives near 100% accuracy! Instead of scanning one page, then doing OCR, then scanning the next page, running OCR, etc., you can scan all pages and then run OCR on all of them at the same time. Yay!!!

I love this app! I have used it over and over. Makes it easy to instantly scan documents and email them. I use it regularly at work when sending info. to our reps or customers. The black and white feature makes it easier to read the documents after you have scanned them. So glad I have it.

I've had this App since it first came out. The recent updates are fantastic. Streamlined. Have a 10 page document you need sent? snap a few pics, auto crop and bam, 9 page PDF emailed.

This is a life saver for those who don't have a scanner or fax.

I've been looking for an app that would take a bunch of pictures from my camera roll and permit me to order them and create ONE pdf document. This app does that, plus permits me to crop the pages prior to PDF creation. Awesome! I think this is the first 5-star rating I've given out!

Before I got this app I used scannerpro. This does everything that app did AND with an in-app-purchase I can use the OCR function. So helpful for my college books. I take a picture then use OCR then my other app can read the text to me. Helps with my learning process a lot.

This is so much easier to use than a traditional scanner for digitizing documents that I scan things I normally wouldn't bother with.

It's especially great for scanning magazine articles to email in a single PDF rather than multiple photos.

I've used this app for about 1yr and has never failed! I've scanned mostly office documents in B&W and some in color and its so easy to do it. I love that I can email my final product in PDF format as well as other, but the quality of the scanning it's amazing! I've tried 5 different apps that claim to do good but not, images are blurry, adjustment tools are hard to use, etcetera. Just try it for yourself!!!

Very easy and useful app. I like that your scanned documents are organized by date when you scan them plus you can name them, so it makes very easy to find what you need in the future. I'm recommending this app to all my friends. Thank you!

Tried other scanner apps and was disappointed. After trying them found this app did what it said it will do, and more. I thought I would have to purchase a scanner for over a $100 and found it scanned to One Note as well as other apps. No problems to date.

It's not often that I buy it and it exceeds my expectations. This app works so smoothly, so smartly, and so intuitively that it does far more than I even thought of. There are really useful features the designers provide that go beyond anything I've seen in similar programs. This app allows me to dump my scanner and function just as efficiently using my phone. Highly recommend!

Two gripes with pricing. I've had my eye on the OCR for months. It tells me that there's an 80% off sale but there's no way to see that - it acts like it will charge me $25! Second, the same app pro version has the OCR and automatic snapping for only $5. Goofy. So it's just a pricing transparency thing.

Also no white-balance or background-to-white (for color) or sharpen features, these would be really helpful in getting good quality scans.

Color balance or exposure matching (as a per-page option) between pages would be good too, but doesn't have that.

It also seems to force all pages to the same size by adding white border. That's a little annoying.

The auto-page keystone (cropping and aspect correction) detection is REALLY poor. It almost never gets anywhere close to being correct. I'm not sure how they could have implemented something this badly.

Can't save a processed image back to the camera roll.

Also would be nice to be able to use wifi to retrieve images/documents, but doesn't seem to have that.

But I do like that you can pick multiple pictures at once from photo roll, and that you can go back and fine tune adjustments or add pages to the same doc later.

I've literally never rated or reviewed an App before, and I'm so pressed for time I can't believe I'm writing this! Not exaggerating when I say this App by far was the best combination of quality & speed of all NINE apps I downloaded. Some paid for, some free. Some w/ OCR, some w/o. I think I can safety say it has the fastest upload speed (ie Box, Kindle, etc) of any of them. You can upload 15pgs in virtually no time. I'm not saying it had the best overall quality, for that my vote would be TurboScan 3x pic setting, but it'd take u a yr if u had a big batch! Plus I don't even think they'll let u do batches. I unfortunately had a lot of scans in a very limited amount of time. Also every book page was very readable & instead of a 1x flash it keeps Ur light on like a flashlight app so u know what it'll look like... Which I think is great! I'm sure there's many others who don't have time to waste, hopefully this saves u from the headache of trying each scanning app... and saves u some cash b/c it def adds up!

I've used it for one or two things but I needed to scan 4 docs, one with multiple pages. Instead of walking all the way down to the hotel lobby or make an excuse until I could get back to my office, I got them all scanned, and sent in about 5 mins. BUY IT!

This app is wonderful. I scan any docs and receipts that I want to keep handy or need to keep up with and save it to my Dropbox so I can access it anywhere on my iPhone or iPad. I can save the pic as a PDF, make it grayscale or photo and more, and the document always looks as good as the original with both automatic and manual tools for cropping and sizing.

This app doesn't do a lot, but it makes it easy to turn a paper document into a PDF or JPG with some lightweight editing options thrown in. I use it for when I need to get handwritten notes into an electronic format and it does that job perfectly.

This app has been very useful at times when I needed to convert certain files into pdf's simply because it looks better than a plain picture. However, I don't think this app is going to be used prevalently by an audience of app users because one...they don't know one exists and two...it's not always necessary. I like it but I've realized that the app becomes slowly unused over time because not everyone wants or needs to turn their files into a PDF format.

If there was anything you guys could improve I recommend making the PDF files look clearer when converting in the dark because the pics look blurry and unprofessional. Also, making the app faster to use is always useful by curtailing the amount of time required to convert files.

I'm a traveling consultant on the go. Grabbing images of receipts, contracts, letters... This app does it all. Quickly, effectively, efficiently. Cropping features are automatic, and adjusts for skew (when you can't get the angle quite right). Syncs finished document to several services (Dropbox), email, whatever you want. ABBYY got this right, 100%. I Love it!!

I downloaded this because it looked like a cool app and I liked how it actually looks like a scan in the end. Basically, I use this all the time now when I need to quickly send a document to someone and they can read it way better after the "scan" than if I just took a picture of it. It's very convenient and just plain awesome!

What an excellent app! I've used other apps to take pictures and create PDFs and manage files and by far this is the best! So simple to use. Prompts to convert and email or save. Has options for all the common cloud storage options. It's a must buy app.

I have been thrilled with this app. I was constantly having problems when trying to scan documents the old school way. This makes scanning so very simple. It takes only a few seconds! I'm very happy with it.

I use it for work to easily store signed paperwork as a PDF. Plus I've used it to easily take photos of old photographs, allowing the app to crop the images for me and give me the best image possible from photographing a photograph! I've also used the app to make a PDF of a poetry book that I hand wrote. I keep finding uses for it.

Now this is really a cool app! None of the other scanning apps that I've tried worked anywhere near as good as this one does. I used to scan all my important documents and send them to Evernote. But taking a photo instead of a scan make it an even easier process.

Really great, I have been looking for such software, today finally found. Previous trip to England to see when someone used this, and did not have time to ask him what software, today I finally have it. Later trip never worry about file is missing or damaged.

Wow, in a couple days this app has changed how I do business. Crystal clear PDF of documents created on the fly. No more quick trips to Kinko's when I'm on the road. And it's so easy and quality so good, I don't even get up from my desk to scan things on my office scanner. Quick and easy. Buy this app. You won't regret.

Not clear how this app is an advantage over the camera. It works fine for jpg but you cannot send to Dropbox or Google Drive so not very useful. I can email myself a jpg of larger file size from the camera. Interface is not intuitive, you have to go through several steps before the option for a PDF appears. Not clear if it can automatically compile a multipage PDF like Tiny Scan does.
