Review

If you read the other reviews, you will notice that those morons provide very little context. You have to be a medical professional in order for your account to be approved by Face2Gene team; however, the app still lets you upload/capture a photo and get a diagnose that may or may not be accurate during the “pending approval” period. The app does what it says it will do, so to give it a bad review is nonsensical. I gave it 3 stars because the app is outdated and it’s not something a medical professional would use to help diagnose a patient.

Enough of the medical elitism

People in the medical profession have long thought that patients are idiots. For the vast majority of us, we are completely capable of learning chemistry, anatomy, or pathology, but we didn’t have the financial privilege of that level of education. Give us the tools to educate and advocate for ourselves. Without research on the patient’s end, it takes years for doctors to diagnose, if ever. Make this app available to the masses. It could help patients get treatment sooner or potentially save lives. Power to the people!

Can you please make a separate app that does not teach the AI?

I understand why the developers do not want patients to teach the AI. However, this product holds so much promise for those who are on the disorder diagnose journey. I know It does not give a diagnosis. It does give a direction to the journey and something to use to talk to physicians.

Parents over Professionals

Such a wonderful app to exist, however it doesn’t do patients any good. I would be willing to bet that my daughter’s medical team would laugh me out of the office if I asked them to download an app to scan her face for a genetic diagnosis. If this app has any chance at becoming a benefit to the medical community it would be wise to allow parents to use it. We could then research the app’s suggested diagnosis prior to seeing the doctor and go into the next appointment ready to discuss our findings.

Availability

Not everyone in America can afford to see a doctor to get permission to use an app. Of course nobody is going to diagnose themselves with just an app. But if it helps confirm a suspicion, it can help them to seek care without dozens of doctor’s appointments. I have a rare genetic condition that was misdiagnosed for 20 years and had I had something that could’ve given me an idea of what to ask my doctor, I wouldn’t be disabled now.

Make public

A a parent with a special needs child I was interested to see if this would actually be helpful, and provide the correct syndrome but this app is how old and still not available to the public….. shame !!!! Parents also to countless hours of research on helping their children and if your app truly worked a parent could also point a doctor in a direction they haven’t gone down.

Parents need this app!

Parents desperately need to be able to use this app! We search for years for answers as to why our children have medical issues/disabilities/need physical and occupational therapy! We only see a geneticist once a year who might do one or two tests with no answers! We need this app to be able to take to our genetics drs to help them help us get answers!!! Please open it up to parents!!!!

Great tool for medical professionals

With the lack of access to geneticists on site, as a genetic counselor this tool is greatly appreciated to give a sense of direction in mystery cases.

As for the people complaining about it not being accessible...there are patient photos on here, no professional would submit cases or feedback if they knew the public was on here. If you’re a parent concerned for your child, please take them to a doctor.

TAKE YOUR CHILD TO A DOCTOR

If you are complaining that this app is only for doctors then you obviously haven't gone to one! If you really want to know what the app says GO TO A DOCTOR and ask them to use it!

All the angry mom's are exactly the reason this is only for health professionals only. it helps doctors determine which generic condition after they determine there is one. Letting anyone use it would create false positives.

I give this app 5 stars for preventing science deniers who have "done their research" from having another thing to justify dangerous alternative "medicine" and "treatments.

NEEDS TO BE AVAILABLE FOR PARENTS

Sad that the parents, who are the ones doing the hours upon hours of research to find answers, are not included in this. Like most, we can only afford to see a geneticist once a year, only to be disappointed with a negative result each time. This could help parents do the research at home to bring to the geneticist attention for testing. I can guarantee a parent searching for answers will make more use of this app than any Dr. has time to do. MAKE THIS APP FOR THE PUBLIC or at least parents with special needs children.

Why can we look up our symptoms online for things and with this you have to be a medical professional? Why can’t the user just agree to not use it as medical advice and agree that you are aware it will not diagnose or treat anything??

Cannot initiate

I am trying to use this on an iPhone 6 with the most current iOS. Cannot even sign up either directly OR through Doximity. Software is flawed in that after the first few entries of name and password it asks for more entries but does not provide the keyboard. Completely useless if it were possible to rate it NO stars I'd have done that.
