Used to be great

…bc it’s one of the few that a) overrides donor disturb WHILE ALSO b) customizing which alerts I get. I, for one, only want tornado WARNINGS, nothing else.

But I guess they don’t care about their app any more, hence the ratings dip. Shame. I renewed my subscription but while, yes, they took my money, the app still thinks I’m not paying and won’t send me alerts. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled. Nothing.

Useless. Remove it from the App Store if you’re MIA, devs.

Can’t get past the welcome screen

I I get the welcome screen but nothing after that. I see things in back ground, around the edges of the welcome screen loading. But I can’t get to them. And I can’t get rid of the welcome screen. It says to wait for it to move on to the next screen but after 30 minutes of waiting it never moves on.

I’ve been paying for this app for a very long time, however alerts do not come through despite having settings correct. Waste of money and a total disappointment.

A week with multiple days of severe weather; thunderstorms, high winds, tornados and flooding. Not one alert was sent. No longer a trust worthy option for receiving critical alerts. Messages support who replied with one brief response and then nothing. Do not waste your money.

I got the all all configured before big storms moved through.

I woke up to see 3 tornado warnings had silently appeared on my phone despite testing at volumes that would wake the dead. And the map has entirely quit loading, even after rebooting my phone, switching to 5G, switching to wifi - nothing. Not only a waste of money but a false sense of security. Grateful none of the 3 warnings actually hit my house.

Will wake you up

Really disappointed to have paid for this. Only thing it does do is wake you up well. But when I needed it most, the rest of the app completely nonfunctional with old info. Many (correct) warning notifications, but once opened, app radar shows blank, list of notices show old watches, and just spins and spins as if trying to update.

Alert didn’t turn off after I changed settings, woke up my baby

I bought this app because I live in a tornado prone area. It went off during dinner for a thunderstorm warning (is that really “critical”?). So I turned off alerts. Later during bedtime, it went off AGAIN to tell me the warning was canceled. 🙄 and woke up my baby despite the fact I had turned off alerts. Screw this app.

Didn't work no support

I had completely forgot about this app. Couldn't get it to work originally (couldn't set alerts). Then emailed them about 2 weeks ago. I uninstalled the phone and tried to restore the purchase and it wouldn't let me. Tried to make me sign in to an account. They replied saying I wasn't in their system. I then sent the receipts from iOS and it was crickets after that. I've now set the app to not auto renew. I'd suggest not subscribing through iOS if you want to try it. Then again with 3.3 stars I'm curious if it works at all. It never did for me. Probably because their system doesn't link to iOS.

Annoying alerts

Purchased the year subscription to do the notifications and had i set for certain severe events. Went off today multiple times in less then two mins for a minor t storm with its loud buzzing. This would be great if what was for an ACTUAL severe event. The app causes more anxiety then its worth.

No alert settings

Subscribed for the monthly subscription from the ad in the main column. After applying, I could not locate setting in app navigation to adjust notification alerts. I tried looking in the FAQs for answers but they were outdated. I could not even adjust settings from my phone’s notification management system. Unsubscribed because of the UX and lack of faith I have that I’d get what I paid for.

Storm watch

This app is in the top tier of my weather apps. It has not disappointed. This app woke me up in the middle of the night to alert me that my brother, three hundred miles away, was in a severe storm path. Called him next day, and he said it was dicey at the time of the alert. Check the test notification periodically to make sure it is functioning.

Used to have alert details

Tornado season in Tennessee. I get tornado watches and warning push notifications. When I “tap to see details” it takes me to the app; however, the alerts are missing. No details at all. I have no idea if the warning is for my work (an hour away), on my way to work, or my home. Why is Apple billing me monthly for “severe-weather-somewhere-but-don’t-know-where-cuz-the-most-important-feature-has-a-known-bug-yet-hasn’t-had-a-solution-for-months.” Fix it or I’m deleting this app

Alerts are fantastic

I’ve been using this app for several years now, even before the app was capable of critical alerts. It’s always been my go to for the alerts but honestly all the other features (radar, forecast, etc) were much better in other apps. Well that has all changed now. I follow them on Twitter and they’ve been extremely transparent during their entire rebuild over the past many months. It was obvious they were putting a lot of work into rebuilding the app. It shows! The radar works better than ever. NWS forecasts are there at the tap of a screen. Everything works much more smoothly and the interface is so polished.

Here’s an example of how this app affects your life: I was vacationing in Austin last weekend. As is typical during a vacation I wasn’t staying up to date on news and weather. It was 65° and I got a notification on my phone for a Winter Storm Watch. Without that notification I would have had no idea that in short time the temp would start dropping. Sure enough by the next morning ice was starting to accumulate.

Keep in mind if you enable emergency alerts in settings on your phone you will automatically get flash flood warning, potentially dangerous severe thunderstorm warning and tornado warning alerts directly from the EAS as long as the cell tower you’re pinging from is in the warning. But for all other alerts AND getting critical alerts for your EXACT GPS coordinates at all times this is your app. Plus now as soon as that alert pops up on your screen you are one tap away from the NWS’s forecast, the SPC’s severe weather outlook and radar. It’s well worth the investment, especially during severe weather season.

Doesn’t offer as much as my free weather app

I paid $8.99 for this app because it was recommended by a local weather expert and I wanted notifications for my exact location as a backup to my NOAA radio. It never occurred to me that this app would not do the same things as my free Weather Underground app. For example, every time I open the app I have to choose my layers, while my WU app saves them until I change them. Also, when I see an area with a storm watch or warning, I can’t tap it to get the information, while my free WU app gives me the complete NWS watch / warning info just by tapping the shades polygon anywhere on the map. My free WU app will give me a complete extended forecast and an hourly forecast for anywhere, but this app only gives me a few highlights for one day. I can’t find anything that lets me look at a daily forecast for any location. Also this app takes more than two or three minutes to load every time I open it. My free WU app pops up immediately every time. And, regarding the push notifications for my area, it constantly notifies me that the watch is continuing ... I really don’t need reminding, trust me, when it comes to severe weather I am on alert all the time. It’s ironic that this app advertises no unnecessary notifications when every few minutes it beeps to say “your watch is still in effect.” And if that isn’t enough, in this morning’s storms this app’s radar was waaaayyy behind my free WU app’s radar. I am not happy and would like a refund. $8.99 a year is not worth it.

Great App for VERY accurate info

Reading through some of the one to three star reviews it seems everyone’s complaint is having to pay for this app. The quality of the app is very good, the weather radar wherever you are is awesome (and has saved me multiple times), and I’m okay paying for that quality. If you want something free, this won’t be as amazing as what those paying for it get so align your expectations before downloading.

NashSevereWeather directed me here after our last tornado and I’m glad they did.

Help needed

First you can’t change the map, all hybrid. Second on a iPhone trying to read the options of layers is awful it is all bunched up, terrible. You brag about alerts but to pay for them, plenty of other free apps that that is not a cost. Sorry but deleting.

Update: Wow takes 2 weeks to get a response. I am using an iPhone 8 that all updates are current. The part that is very hard to read is where you click for the radar or it shows a somewhat of a description of what the day maybe through the day. So that is the issue but again with no “future radar” and no standard maps or even light or dark menu I will again delete the app.

In theory, great...but unreliable

When this works, it is awesome! The alerts are good.

That said, more often than not the weather info won’t load. I paid too much for this to be unreliable, especially since it is supposed to keep me safe.

No ability to exit overlay choices on latest generation of iPads

It’s an ok app but needs some RAID to iron out the bug of the inability to exit overlay menu. I changed the choice of radar to SPC day one and I was unable to change the zoom level on the radar nor was I able to swipe down to get rid of overlay menu. It may be user induced, dunno as there wasn’t any directions on how to return back to the radar.

Also, not sure if a bug or it was intended, when I changed the overlay to SPC day one, it covered up the radar. I didn’t see a transparency option so I could see the radar echos within the day one map. I couldn’t access the radar to zoom out to see if it was me or a bug encountered in first paragraph.

As far as alerts, I get free alerts from Red Cross as well as a couple of free apps such as MyRadar app., I don’t see any reason to pay 12 bucks a month on something that is timely and free, and it should be free here.

StormWatch+ is brilliant

I used to live in Memphis where I initially came across this app many years ago. Two years ago I moved to Myrtle Beach and thankfully this app works anywhere in the USA. All you have to do is set your location.

There are no tornado warning sirens in the Carolinas, thus, this app is especially more important than ever.

Today, we had a tornado come through parts of Georgetown and Horry Counties. The closest observed damage was only two miles away. This app gave me ample warning to take action if necessary.

I highly recommend this app. It is a potential life saver and worth the cost.

Crashes

I heard great reviews about this app after the tornadoes ripped through Tennessee. So I downloaded it hoping it would be better than the weather channel app. And it looks great, but every time I try to go to the radar it crashes.

Storm spotter

I am a storm spotter. I use this ap and RadarScope to chase and spot storms. I have used the weather alerts ap and many others but nothing compares to the accuracy of this one. No false alarms, no alarms about storms out of my range. This ap is extremely reliable vs the competition. Today during a tornado outbreak storm watch went off to let me know a tornado was near, while weather alerts failed to do so.

Costs $8.99 for severe alert functionality

(Response to developer's response: You probably should make it clearer what the free version of the app offers, as this was recommended elsewhere online by someone who lauded the alert functionality for severe weather events. I was ready to probably pay the 8.99 for this functionality, but again, I think this generally should be charged at the outset if its the core functionality an app is providing. That said, if the other features you mentioned are adding value as well (I wasn't aware of them), they should again be pointed out so people are clear on the difference between the free and premium product. Raised review to 3 stars for now - still won't be subscribing as I think the charge should be provided up front (you could also consider offering a separate "premium" app if you really want to make the initial download free but want to have a pay product as well). I'll consider editing/deleting the review later if I have a chance to check out free version

This is essentially just a weather radar app with some basic severe weather safety tips unless you invest the $8.99 in buying the full version, as far as I could tell. The $8.99 is very reasonable for the service (apparently) provided, but it's poor form offering this free version with such limited functionality imo. Just charge $8.99 at the outset and I probably would have paid it & hopefully rated 5 stars.

The latest update to StormWatch+ makes an already invaluable app, which provides instant National Weather Service severe weather warnings for your exact location, also be a first-class weather app with a great radar and local NWS temps and forecasts. Way to go guys!

Storm watch works great.

It works! I bought it to have something to wake me up if a tornado was coming. I decided to test the audio by opting for an alert for a tornado watch. The next time that happened, i heard no alert. I checked all my settings; everything was turned on. I sent an email to Support. An hour later i heard a piercing sound, audible from two rooms away. Tornado warning! A very nice support person explained that the alerts for watches are the phone's default Notification sound. For my phone, that's not very loud, and I missed it. But the "warning" sound is loud, just as it should be.

Awesome product

Storm Watch + has kept my family safe on more than one occasion. It is louder and more timely than our local sirens. I've also tested it against The Weather Channel's app and it gives quicker, more accurate updates. Additionally, it offers tips to stay protected that help me make sure I can keep my family safe and sound.

So, I love the free forecast and radar. Radar loads SO much faster than the Weather channel app and it doesn't get jerky zooming in and out.

The extra StormWatch+ service is rock solid, alerted to any weather that pops up in my area that I need to know about.

Free!? Not really!

As the wife of a very successful app developer, listing your product as free, then providing zero service unless you chose to pay $6.99 is misleading and dishonest. While I appreciate the fine print on this issue, and asking for no negative reviews, please consider changing your bait and switch business approach. Make it free or mark it as paid. Not worth the download.
