Hello Oklahomans! The Mesonet app brings a host of Oklahoma weather information right to your phone, including data from the award-winning Oklahoma Mesonet, forecasts, radar and severe weather advisories. Get fast access to the same info that the experts use!

Features:

- Get live weather observations from 120 Mesonet weather stations across the state.

- Use your iPhone's built-in GPS to determine the closest weather station to your location.

- Check out 5-day forecasts for 120 locations across Oklahoma, updated every hour with the latest National Weather Service products.

- Access maps of air temperature, rainfall, winds, dew point, humidity, soil temperature, soil moisture, pressure, solar radiation, satellite, and upper air.

- View advisories for severe weather, fire weather, flooding, high wind, heat, winter storms, frost/freeze, ice, snow, and visibility.

- Animate live NEXRAD radar data from the Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Frederick, Enid, and other radars surrounding Oklahoma.

Great resource, but...

The Oklahoma Mesonet is a world-class weather resource and the app is generally very good. However, the changes to radar functionality in the latest version are not particularly helpful. Tapping the 'location' button now automatically shifts the view to the nearest radar location; I'd prefer to select the radar station manually, as the site closest to my area (Vance AFB) shows a lot of interference. Also, the state radar composite seems to be missing from the maps section. Please consider restoring these options in the next update.

Fantastic for deep meteorological info!

Really fantastic app! Loaded with all data you could ever need, even if you don't know what most of it means. This isn't meant to be a replacement for your standard weather app, but a useful addition to your collection of weather apps if you're into meteorology.

Only reason its not 5 stars is on the advisories page everything is red. Need to color code the different advisories. Other than that l see nothing wrong here

Horrible radar ruins app

The radar on this thing is awful, I'm not sure why they ever changed it. It is impossible to distinguish what is the actual weather system and what is the gray static on the map even if you adjust the transparency. Very disappointing. The maps are decent though.

Best OK Weather App

The Mesonet App is hands down the best OK Weather App for serious weather junkies. We take meteorology seriously in Oklahoma. Fortunately, the Oklahoma Climatological Survey's Mesonet App provides all the fresh, raw data one could desire, including up-to-the minute weather advisories.

Be sure to check out the app's Ticker section, too. State Climatologist Gary McManus injects his personal brand of humor into the highly informative Mesonet weather ticker, which I've found on several occasions to be more accurate (and entertaining) than most other sources.

Must Have for Weather Nerd

This impressive application isn't just for those in Oklahoma! It contains weather products for the entire nation. For Okies it also has excellent weather information local to their area.

Unlike other weather apps, this one is SO much more straightforward and useful. Simple interface with lots of data that all Oklahomans need.

Please, please do not go the way of accuweather or twc apps and get all pretty and lose usability. Please...

Important Improvements

My thanks to the development team for this significantly improved app. For years, I have used previous versions of this app and was impressed with its speed in providing lots of data on Oklahoma weather. However, I also relied on other commercial weather apps that had such features as radar loops. Those other apps take a long time to load as they are burdened with ads. With this updated app, I now can rely on it solely, as it has all of the features I need. I especially appreciate the quick access to the metograms. Lots of good data for us weather nerds!

Good App Bad Radar

Love the app. Anytime I want to know anything Oklahoma weather related I use it.

Problem: New interactive radar is worse then the old version. Can't see towns or county lines. Desktop radar version is much easier to use. I recommend this site to everyone I know.

Newest Version Mistake

The newest version's radar is a huge step down from the previous version. The newest version radar is GREAT at detecting ground clutter though!

I absolutely love the Mesonet app! I use it more than any other app. BUT I do NOT like the radar on the new version! If you haven't updated the app, don't. The new radar doesn't show county lines and doesn't seem as clear as the radar on the previous version. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

App doesn't have to be flashy to excel.

And this one demonstrates that.

Simple, reliable, stable. Delivers a cornucopia of graphical representations of the fine granularity Mesonet data.

About the only improvement I can think of would be to plot the standard little blue ball at the users GPS position.

Blow your mind app!

It only works for Oklahoma on most of the features, but if you like to know technical weather data, or even regular usage, this is by far the best weather app I have ever downloaded. It's what you would expect a meteorologist might use. Although I can't complain, I wish it had an alert system

I love this app! I can check the radar for storms and watch which way the storms are going. Current temperature, plus forecasts, & warnings. Great app for Oklahoma!

I love that every time I open the app it literally shows the storms going over our City. Would be awesome if we could see surrounding weather patterns (Texas especially) and get push notifications for our area on advisories? But anyhow, THIS APP IS BOMB!!!

Solid app, could use polish.

I want to start by saying what a great app this is... coded and built very well. Runs smooth and without any problems. I have finally found a weather app that is both free and AD FREE. Amazing.

I just have a few minor gripes that actually don't detract from the app at all... The radar is good, but the interface could use a little sprucing up, as well as the low-res "play" button.... it needs to get the retina display treatment so it can look better on newer devices. The only other thing that I would like to see change is the actual app name under the icon. Instead of "MesonetApp", it should just say "Mesonet" - that would look a lot more professional on the homescreen.

It would also be nice if you could receive push notifications about significant weather in the area... that would be awesome.

Useful Weather app

I use the Mesonet site all the time, but with this app the whole process faster. I miss meteograms, which are not part of the app. Also wish pressure maps could be in mb again. Something to think about, developers!

Finding closest station to get data from is great. Maps work well. Radar is not the best, but it still works. If you live in Ok, you need this app!

This is a great app that's so easy to navigate. I can't believe it's free!? My only suggestion would be add more locations, radar zoom and to include hourly details since the weather can change so drastically here from hour to hour. Thanks for such a great app!

World Class App

From the world class Oklahoma Mesonet comes an amazing iPhone app! A very user-friendly interface that allows you to access a plethora of meteorological data, for a single location on your home page (easily changed by tapping i) or for the entire network by looking at the maps. Also offered are local and national maps for any watches, warnings, or advisories issued by the National Weather Service, and the always funny and informative Mesonet tickers from Associate State Climatologist Gary McManus. A must have if you live in Oklahoma...or if you are a meteorologist anywhere.
