It is impossible to make an account on the app. I’ve tried and friend for it to send me the code and it keeps on doing the opposite.Please fix your system so more people can play. I recommend having a system that lets you make an account without having an imaginary passed word you have to guess!

Сначала удалили чат из этого приложения. Потом при любых действиях постоянно повторно оно запрашивает пин код от семейного доступа.

Could be better

When things work, great.

But when it doesn’t work, this app is absolutely infuriating.

- getting charged the wrong tax amount, try to go to file a support request, select the recent order, choose the actual option for being charged the wrong amount and then…nothing. No button to actually file anything, just a copy of what I paid. Ok, well I know what I paid, I need to reach support to fix it.

- there’s no general “seriously, I need support, I don’t mind if it’s slower, have a human triage it” button

- and it’s the same on the website. So many support paths don’t have a “I still need help” option. Like seriously, how is showing me what I paid supposed to help me if the issue is that the amount is wrong????

Valve is a Theft Machine

Got a new phone, and the authenticator wouldn’t authenticate. I’ve always used PayPal and prepaid cards to make purchase. Since I cannot verify a credit card, because I didn’t use one but provided screenshots from my PayPal, my entire library is gone bc my account cannot be accessed. This company is worse than someone hacking and taking your things. They just do it and refuse to help. Actually, about the same as a THEIF!

Mobile view is broken, and support ignores it

I reported a UI bug which breaks the app UI in Ukrainian language. Every page is extra wide, that leads to horizontal scrolling. The only thing they need to fix is to shorten one phrase which breaks the UI and makes it annoying to scroll. It is "Завантажити мобільні застосунки" at the bottom of every page.

I contacted support and they said they don’t have a solution. Looks like they simply don’t want to fix it.

I’ll come back and fix my rating once that is fixed. Lets see how many more months it takes

If you thought this app was a glitchy turd before the update, just wait until you try it now. Purchasing Issues

Lots of issues with purchasing my plane game on my computer because “card info was wrong.” I would know if my card info was wrong it’s my debit card, Steam. They then prevented me from trying to purchase it for another 2 hours because I tried to purchase it too much. Terrible service

I had this brand new account for not even 3 hours, it got banned for “fraudulent activity” i believe since i made this in another country because i travel and used my visa from usa to buy a game is the reason behind this. And hey if so who cares companies make mistakes im sure it was in good faith of safety. Heres my problem tho it has been almost 2 days since i had this issue after buying a pc for a very high amount all i wanted to do was play 1 game on my day off. I reached out to support and after 20 hours they FINALLY sent me 1 message. Asking me for my info, patiently i gave it to them no problem and now it has been countless many hours since and they have yet to respond. It’s a ticket system they have no customer phone service or anything. I can literally do nothing but sit and wait for however long they wish to make me wait, these people couldn’t care less about their jobs. A good app when you’re not at your computer.

All in all makes it easier for me to see if patch notes come out that way I can download the update rather than not playing for days then having to download a larger update that has accumulated over time. A great thing that has come from Steam is Family Sharing. Basically if I own one game on an alt that I don’t have on my main I can just leech off of myself rather than buy the game again. And Steam is just a great service overall for me personally.

I love the app itself and the concept for it is great. There are plenty of options and info about games and your account which is very helpful for managing those sort of things. My only downside is that every time I try and sign in it never works. Have reset passwords multiple times and my mobile app refuses the password every time but my computer lets me sign right in. I truly don’t understand why this occurs when I know the password is right considering my computer lets me in every time but my app refuses it. Don’t put in the extra Work

As a person who has been on Steam for almost 6 years it’s disappointing when an intelligent hacker breaks into my account and disables my 2 step verification and then trades all my hard earned items to his depot accounts, Steam support helped me back into my account but when I asked for them to cancel the trades, they refused and said this could be part of a scam, I advised them I just was the trades to be reversed l, not duplicated, I have proof of purchases and the invoices yet the refuse, I loved the items created for Rust and still do but with Steam not even attempting to help after this attack it has made me not want to buy items anymore I lost almost 150 items, And all they did was tell me how to prevent it again.

Does exactly what it’s designed to do

Maybe it’s because I’m an older gamer who got started in the 90’s, but I really can’t figure out why anyway would expect to be able to log into their Steam games. It’s a mobile portal to the Steam storefront, your user account and social features like friends chat. Period. All of that is supported brilliantly. If you’re expecting more than that, then you’re clearly confused about how all this works. It’s sort of like expecting to use Google Play or the Apple Store to play mobile Genshin Impact on your laptop.

This has a been unexpectedly useful

This app works surprisingly well, the holiday sales do have funny formatting though but it’s not a problem. Only small issues are that the hours of playtime displayed on mobile a behind by a significant amount. And second they sadly don’t accept anything other than credit card so you can’t pay with apple pay or other things of that sort. Overall though I would definitely recommend getting it so you can manage your steam away from your computer or show off your achievements to friends.

TLDR Functional. But lacks any real utility beyond buying games.

Reviewing from an iPad, I had high hopes that I would get some additional use to organize, sell cards, text to people in game, accept invites, but no…just the store.

Personally I forgive all that if it would just let me organize my game library on my own terms. “What do I want to play” paralysis is a huge issue for me and if I could organize by priority like I can my wishlist or even in folders [like you can on the switch] that would help me and many others. I’d probably end up buying more games, and I don’t think I’m the only one.

My account being restricted due to a “fraudulent purchase”.

So I tried to purchase Cyberpunk 2077 while it was on sale. I am fairly new to steam and this would be my second purchase ever. My bank account had the purchase pending and so did steam. An hour and a half go by and I check steam and my account was restricted and I was unable to purchase anything. I was then told to contact their customer support. I did so with no issues because maybe they made a mistake. Also my bank account didn’t report this purchase as fraudulent and I was easily able to prove it was my credit card used to attempt in purchasing the game. It is now the end of the day, and I haven’t gotten any response. I wrote a message to customer service during an average company business hours and days. This is horrible customer service, why would I even use your platform if you don’t fix our problems. I still haven’t received a email saying they reviewed my message. This is ridiculous and this company definitely needs to work on their customer support. I am now going to sleep without any ability to purchase or even download games.

Only good for the very basics (e.i. Buying and Installing Games)

This app is good for viewing, buying, and installing games on the go but getting to the community hub for specific game does not work up unless the hub is recommended to you. you cannot get to the community hub of a specific game through looking at the game details in your library like you can in on PC. instead, you must navigate to community hub where you have the option to use a search bar that doesn’t work. I can type in the search bar, but it won’t actually search for some reason. Also, when I tried to upload artwork to a community hub through the artwork section in my profile, it brought me out of that app into a browser to an error. Needless to say, I cannot upload it at work through the app.

Impossible to Log In

I’d stop using steam if i hadn’t been an idiot and bought so many games on it. It does not matter how well the apps function if i can’t log in. No advice helps, so don’t bother responding with a laundry list of pre dirtied bandaids of “tips” or “tricks” to get it to work. it doesnt. i have to deal with having 20 capchas slid softly in and out if my throat while i pick a new password, because i have to change my password every time. steam has been garbage for years, and it will be garbage until it shuts down. it just so happened to get lucky in tricking people into thinking they own the games they hand money over for. pathetic and not even pitiable that this is an issue ten years later. i’d say be better if i thought any of their employees could read.

Give me my money back!

I need someone to help me I bought at game and it didn’t work well I delete it and try to get my money. This is my first time ever buying off steam but I never got a notification about the return policy. The game got stuck on my computer and I physically couldn’t even play the game. I don't know why people here are so entitled

If you have steam, you gotta have a PC, simple as that. If you have a gripe with a game, take it up with the developers, simple as that. If you have a gripe with payment, take it up with your payment or Steam support, simple as that. If you have a gripe with your account, take it up with Steam support, simple as that. If you have a gripe with the community: report and block them, stop engaging, or build a thick skin and be a good example for others, simple as that.

This app serves its purpose. You can access your account settings, account profile, app settings, view your library, add funds and browse and purchase on the store. There's a few bugs and crashing and could use better optimization and if they could integrate chat that'd be great. If they ever implement playing Steam games on your phone through streaming or directly on device or what have you, that'd be fantastic.

Waste of time!

Some community in discussion are so toxic and salty. On top of that we got blind mods, probably waste of lives hiring more waste of lives, because that’s what steam is. Steam days are coming to an end. I can feel it. Never again I’m using steam ever in my life. I will stick to Epic games and blizzards. At least my head didn’t get burned or made me get anxiety when I try to look for help in epic and blizzard and we got Sherlock Holmes condescending hos on discussion always commenting on steam. People dont even like to see the same person in real life. U think they like seeing same person being rude who thinks they know it all. Just by reading their first sentence of the comment it sounds so unwelcoming and condescending. People look for help no matter how small or big a question is, just answer, simple. No need to be rude nothing. Not sure if they’re mod. I reported them they violated the rule. By being rude which I could report them for. But blind mods don’t do shhhh. Recent update broke it :(

I use the steam mobile app quite a bit to browse new games on my phone, check in on my wishlist and even make purchases. I mainly use it because I’m far away from my pc. The app used to work pretty well until a new update from a few weeks ago essentially broke the app. I really hope the Tiny team working on this app can fix it, but recently the lag has become atrocious, input response for tapping buttons or scrolling by down is delayed by 10 seconds some times, and the video player has gotten even worse, where you really have to fiddle around if you want to watch a fullscreen video in the app. In terms of UI I would suggest downsizing the top and bottom parts that take up two thirds of the screen when ur phone is in landscape mode. Anyway I really hope the devs can fix this cuz I really like the app, but it’s just terrible now

Take your product reviews to product pages

A lot of people are review bombing this app with their personal gripes about transactions made that they didn’t read the description of. Steam isn’t responsible for your early access game getting cancelled and delisted, nor is it responsible for you losing your account cause you refused to update your recovery info for some reason? App works (a solid 90% of the time), I think if you’re looking more into the experimental features and trying to squeeze all of the functionality out of this and rely on it as a solid way to manage your steam library and purchase games while simultaneously downloading them at home, you’re sorely mistaken. This is a solid app to see sales, buy games for your library at home, message and sell your items, other than that I don’t really try to push it too hard haha. This is a solid app if you simply want to be able to browse and buy games while not at your desktop, also if you like trading items. If you don’t know how to read EULAs and point fingers when you can’t read everything laid out in front of you, this app isn’t for you.

I had added money to my account for my gift card that I got on my birthday, but then I tried to buy a game. I kept on giving me an error even though I typed in everything properly I’ve been waiting a few days to try to get this, this is why there’s a two star review. I would prefer to just use the PC app to be honest you know the PC app isn’t even working at the moment too. This happens with every game. I’m trying to get and it was a $20 gift card. I was trying to buy a five dollar game and I had plenty of storage on my PC. I’m kinda confused here, can someone reply to this review?

I saw CaseOh playing this game called “SchoolBoy Runaway” and I really like REALLY wanted to play it. So, I knew u had heard of one app called “Steam” and I decided to type it up in the Google search bar and do a little research. Now since I knew Steam only streams on PC, or computers I believe I knew I had to find another way. Turns out you can download “Steam Mobile.” Now I was pretty skeptical about this but I decided to give it a shot. Had a pretty hard time logging in but as soon as I did, I IMMEDIATELY typed up SchoolBoy Runaway. Now, I found out the game costs $5.99 so I decided to do the Demo version. Now I was pretty scared ngl. I decided to download it one I knew I was logged in on Steam Mobile, and the Google Steam. Turns out, as soon as it downloaded and when I tried to click “Play Game” it wasn’t working. Like no seriously. And the text kept copying. I don’t want to have to do and third-party apps so if the Steam devs or any random person replies to my review, I’d really appreciate that. Thank you.

App is OK

It’s an app to browse the store, check your library, accept market trades, etc. It’s also kind of broken in a few places, I’ll be signed in but it’ll still tell me to sign in when browsing the store. Pages will fail to load, the app will glitch out and I’ll have to restart it, etc. Which I partially understand as the people at Valve are allowed to work on more or less whatever interests them, and it would seem that nobody at Valve really cares about this app.

What this ISN’T, is a marketplace to buy and play games on your phone. It amazes me that children are so daft that they think buying a game on the Steam app on their phone will let them play a AAA PC game with next gen graphics.

Steam’s 2025 New Year Resolution needs to be fixing their mobile app.

The other reviews speak for my opinion. The app is “ok” if you’re just using it for the store. The market is a nightmare on mobile (when I used it last) and the app overall gets bugged out in different ways every so often. I can’t even look at the 2024 Recap without chunks of the page unloading or not loading as you scroll. I’m unsure if the search function has been fixed. Basically, you’d click on a product (game, dlc, etc), and instead of taking you to the product’s page, it glitches and just brings you to the top of the search section.

Steam. Please. We just want your mobile app fixed. Why is Steam Chat separate now too 🤣? Many questions. Anyway, have an awesome day y’all 🙏.

Great

This app is great for managing your steam account on the go. You can do practically everything the regular desktop app can do except play the actual games you buy. You can even download your games remotely to your computer, your steam deck or wherever else you wanna play. I use this app constantly to stay on top of sales, new releases, recommendations, etc. You can search or browse using practically any parameters at all. You can even filter your searches to focus on demos only. It’s an amazing app. Now and then I have had to refresh a page but maybe only because I keep it open all the time. The millions of game reviews alone make it indispensable to making decisions about which games to buy. LOVE this app!

Dear Valve, the chances of a

single one of your staff reading this are less than 0.1% but I might as well try. Valve, stop trying to find every method possible to be lazy and not doing anything people actually want, instead of putting even the simplest of effort into a App you decide to forget about it and leave maybe a single worker to actually make bug fixes, don’t even get me started on the Steam Chat app… This is a poor excuse of a app and needs to actually be worked on. Your slop of a company gets to make millions and all you all do is either sit around or release a new device every once in a while. No wonder steam is so hated

I am on mobile and I want to make many complaints, For some reason I cannot finds settings at all, I searched up multiple ways how to fix it but couldn’t and if I can’t enable settings I guess I just can’t play, I looked at videos and they had steam in their top left corner, When I checked mine their was no steam in the top left corner, Checked my Chromebook, Nope, Checked my IPad, Nope, Like steam just put it there, The worst part about it is because I CAN’T EVEN ENABLE IT BACK ON, And if I can’t enable that certain settings, That means I can’t play your game, So steam if you see this. Missing key features

For starters, the only way to submit feedback is by joining a community group that you can’t join through the app. There are basic features (like access to your soundtracks and non-game purchased content) that people have been asking for for over 2 years that are still missing. So, I’m giving this a 1 start because doing that is the only form of feedback I can provide after having wasted half an hour of my time just trying to provide feedback. Using a form to provide feedback on your app should be the fallback option when the feedback option that should be built into the app fails. Steam wasted a lot of time building something that doesn’t have features that people want and/or need.

Not actually that bad

The people complaining about the Steam Mobile App don’t know what they’re doing. If you’re reviewing Steam as a whole, go complain about it somewhere else. The app is meant purely as a means to view the Steam Community (guides, artwork, workshop items), the Steam Store, and your Steam Guard (2FA). It does all of these pretty well, especially Steam Guard, even if the app is a little clunky sometimes. However, if you needed to access anything on Steam, it’s a much better idea to just use the app on your computer. It’s also important to understand that the messaging feature is delegated to another app, Steam Chat.

It gets the job a computer should do done on a phone. What more could you ask for?

Serves Its Purpose, Needs Improvement

Realistically, most people are only going to want to use this app to browse the Store to buy games at sale prices on the go or while they’re bored. Mobile devices aren’t really configured to properly browse Steam and utilize all its many features. The mobile Steam Workshop UI for example is very difficult to navigate the way it is set up, though again I’m not sure that can be fixed with how the devices are designed.

With that being said, the News page seems to be broken and refuses to load even in Safari, which is not ideal because game news is probably one of the main reasons why someone would use this app.

I think it’s cool that they’ve managed to implement what they have and aside from the issues I’ve mentioned there’s not anything glaring and the app overall is well made.

HORRIBLE SUPPORT

I send request ticket about many problem my account has. One being restricted/community ban till 2038. I did not know why I had a community ban so I messaged them why I got one. They replied with 0 answers saying I broke comminity guidelines or something but i have never posted a community thing and used the steam market which I am also banned from. All they said is next request I send will be ignored and they will not respond to any of my tickets in the future. Another thing I sent is I can not Add steam guard guess what? No response!! I also ordered a game and it then was refunded without me issuing it which is why I believe I got banned. Zero response about that. This account I have spent money on and have multiple games and Steam just bans me for no reason not saying what I did and ignore me.

I am FRUSTRATED. Mobile Authenticator DOES NOT WORK! Only causes more problems.

The STEAM application on my computer told me to download the mobile application to remove the trade/market holds. This was my first time using the STEAM market, so I thought that sounded great! It worked the moment I activated the Authenticator, allowing me to sell and trade cards. Two days later, my account suddenly has the holds again. I thought I’d simply refresh the Authenticator and it would fix it. I was horribly mistaken. Adding the Mobile Authentication to your account does NOTHING. It does NOT remove trade holds consistently and it extremely frustrating to try and understand. After authenticating for the second time, it not only didn’t release my trade hold, but removed my ability to use the Community Market for 15 DAYS!! I’ll forget all about my trades and badges I was crafting by then! There’s no button to prove that it was you that made the trade, you just have to suffer in silence for 15 days. THIS IS AN AWFUL SYSTEM! If you’re downloading this app just for the authentication, its more worth it to just buy the cards straight up or farm gems than go through sell/trade side of the Community Market. 0/10 experience. All I wanted was badges for my favorite games.

P.S. Same thing happened to my friends in the past. NOT JUST ME! VALVE, FIX THIS!! All we need is a “I made that transaction” button! That’s it!! No more holding our stuff for 15 days!

After I was done double checking, I pressed sign in. And you know what happened? They said “the account name or password is incorrect” or something like/about that. And then I got so mad. Genuinely don’t understand how valve can make a mobile app when there pc apps have problems, I’ve spent the past two days trying to get into steam and instead I’m here making a review, if your a steam user just stick to your Pc and don’t bother trying to monitor your account via mobile, the one time I did get it to work it immediately sent me back to login and told me my password is wrong. My Steam Review

Steam was very helpful to me when I got my account stolen. After my idiotic mistake, Steam quickly and efficiently got me my account back. However, this was not the end, for the person who stole my account also spent all my Steam funds. So with no money and a compromised account, I was in shambles. Thankfully, Steam got me my money back and guided me towards the correct course of action to keep my account safe in the future. Overall the Steam experience is great, there is endless games, sweet deals, and good customer service. My only issue is the price of some games, but that is not a Steam issue but an inflation issue. Can’t message friends

I like this app and all, i like how you can view people’s workshop and respond to comments, but you can’t message friends. when i try to message my friends, it takes me to the website, and that defeats the whole purpose of a steam mobile app. i would hugely appreciate it if you could add a feature where you can message friends instead of it taking you to the website. i have a huge deal with this, because i had to go to microsoft outlook to log in, and then i had to go to gmail to log into microsoft, and then after all of that, i couldn’t find the email. so please add that small feature. thanks.

Can’t even create an account!

There has been a game surfacing in the internet that I’ve been really interested in and have been wanting to play for a while now. I figured that I could only find it on steam so I decided to go on steam on my laptop and get the game. I couldn’t play the game because I had to create an account which I have tried multiple times but it just will not allow me to create an account. I go through everything, putting my email in, doing the bot verification, etc etc; everytime I do that it says some error occurred such as “please get off of any VPNs or proxies” or “captcha couldn’t verify your identity”.

I am not on any VPNS or proxies and I don’t know how to combat this captcha issue. Also steams help center isn’t helpful whatsoever when it comes to creating an account. Anything account related is only for users who have an existing account. This app doesn’t even allow me to create an account, there is no section that says “create an account” it just makes you sign in form the very beginning. But I do not have an account.

There are times where I have gotten as far as verifying my email. But that does not work. I would get the email and press on the link it gives me and it brings me to a steam page but every single time I do this, it always says “couldn’t verify email”. I stopped trying for a few days just to give it some time. It’s been over three weeks and it is still doing the same thing. I just wish a dev could get back to this comment and help me, I JUST WANT TO PLAY A GAME!!! Creating an account should not be this difficult.

Cannot Create New Account; Valve Does Not Have Customer Support

I am a new user trying to create a new account. However, I cannot create a new account due to Valve using broken “Recaptcha.” It makes you click boxes of grainy images to verify if you are a person. Well, you go throw Recaptcha multiple times for it only to tell you it’s wrong, EVERY TIME. I know it’s not wrong!!!

Upon searching this issue, it turns out this is a common issue. However, none of the “quick fixes” worked. I have tried so many times now it locked me from creating an account!

After this, I attempted to contact Valve via the phone. THEY DO NOT HAVE OVER THE PHONE CUSTOMER SUPPORT!!!

How can you, as a multi-billion dollar company, not even have customer support set up? You’re telling me I cannot set up this account for my children because the picture box thing won’t work? Unbelievable. I will not be using any of steams products, ever.

Can’t believe steam cant fix their app

As the title says there’s multiple problems with this app. Everyone says that to verify your email you have to download the app which sounds like a pain. Even when you try to use the app however it’s riddled with bugs and remove so many things i don’t understand why.

The 2 biggest for me is how you have to download a separate app to text people when they had that option before. The other is how buggy the store is. If you apply filters and look at a game that interests you, the filters reset. Not to mention you cant see the price of games UNTIL you click on the game, reseting yours filters. Sometimes the page would just randomly reset the filters and you’re back at the start of the page. Want to choose what page you were at? Too bad you have to keep pressing load more to view more games. These are just the bugs that come to mind for now but theres many more.

Completely broken

In general I’m a fan of Steam, but this app is a mess. I’ve always put up with minor bugs, like not being able to click on search results (the screen would just refresh instead of opening the game page), but after changing my password on my pc the app is now completely unusable. At first it wouldn’t let me in at all, then after disabling the app based authenticator and logging out on all devices, I can now get in, but nothing works. Everything I try to do now causes the app to attempt to verify my login, then times out. And every time I close the app, I’m logged out entirely again.

I can still log in on my pc and phone’s browser with zeros issues, so the app is definitely the issue. I’ve tried reinstalling it multiple times, and even logging in with different accounts, and the result is the same — the app is fried.

I filed a ticket, so we’ll see what support has to say, but given the lack of support other users are getting with this buggy mess of an app, I’m not hopeful. A company this big, profitable, and successful needs to do better.

Terrible, only get if you have to.

Terrible App. You’d think they would have at least a semi-decent app but you can trust the App Store reviews for sure on this one. Actual trash. I’m completely locked out from using the app with my account or any account for that matter. I changed my password because someone logged into my account from another country, and now it has me in a non-stop loop of trying to log me in and acting like it did, not actually logging me in though, verifying my account info when I’m trying to go on community page/look at my profile, and then giving me the same error message over and over. Sometimes, the screen just freezes gray in the app and I can’t do anything in the app unless I delete the app and re-download, AND THEN it still only works for a little bit before it starts crashing again. To top it all off, because I’ve been trying to log in since I’m trying to verify that everything in my account is OKAY after someone tried getting into it, I have been locked out of my account for trying to login too many times. I still don’t know if my account’s okay. Not worth the migraine.

Years of absolute frustration

For the record, I was a early adopter of STEAM for PC. I have a long standing account and a huge library. I was excited for this app when it came out. But after years of constant frustration I’m done with it. It’s amazing how you guys can make your PC app work flawlessly 98% of the time but cannot seem to fix the blatant issues with this iOS app. Today I was locked in family view. I could access everything fine through PC. I could even access family view settings with my family view password. However, I still couldn’t get to the store page because it kept giving me a error for validating the password. I removed and reloaded app and it just became worse. Got it to work once and then black screen of death. Delete/reload again (3times) to same effect. I’m done with this disaster and having to use it for steam guard for the safest version of steam guard is a joke. I’m convinced you folks don’t care because it’s been a craptastic app since it’s inception!

Steam customer service is “steam”ing alright

I understand that me moving a lot is going to complicate things when it comes to cellphone numbers being wrong and being updated. So when it comes to authentication I just use the app… oh wait the app randomly logs me out of it anyways and then asks me to authenticate myself with the app!! Excellent!! Also why does it seem like the Steam help personnel think that freaking super villains are trying to hack my account? Why should I have to remember the entire debit card information I used 4 freakin’ years ago to confirm that I am who I say I am? I would love a 24-hr help line where I could just talk to someone instead of sending a dumb little form over the internet that takes 2 days to get back to me with a reply with a question that no normal person can possibly answer. The help center needs improvement because at its current state I think I would rather just off myself!

Account changes break the app

I had to change my password while the app had the authenticator active using the app.

First of all, it would not let me do this using the app even though everything on the website redirects you to the app. It asks you to confirm the password change using the app, but since it’s basically loading a webpage within the app itself it never registers that you’re already in the app and you can’t confirm anything.

Second, when you finally change your password using a browser and app combo, if you have the authenticator active on the app, the app completely breaks. You’re still “logged in” using the old password, but since your password has changed nothing works because your credentials are wrong. It also won’t let you log out because the authenticator is active. This problem continues even after you remove the authenticator from your account using a browser.

For as much money as steam has you’d think they could afford to pay someone with competence to not have everything fall apart when you try to simply change your password. It’s like the steam webpage, authenticator, and app are all made by separate conpanies in separate countries and nobody speaks the same language or has any way to communicate with each other. Pathetic.

Clunky updates worsen user experience

Just updated for the first time in a long time.

The only good thing to emerge from the update is the ability to use steam guard QR codes.

Beyond that, some “bright” young dev took away the ability to access steam chat directly via the app, and the app instead reroutes you to your internet browser to log in to steam’s website…

Why would I bother using your now worthless app… instead of just booting up safari and going to steam to log in???

Further, the UI is garbage for a mobile app… it’s like they only ever had devs who made website UI try to blunder their way thru making an app UI. No one cares or needs a “news” tab. This isn’t a social media site - no one cares about having a list that shows them EVERY update for EVERY game they own.

In conclusion, it is sad to see the mobile app fall into such a state of disrepair (thru bad updates no less). I used to use the app frequently to text friends while they were in game, and to check out new games. Now I’ll only open it on rare occasion for steamguard.

I hope the devs read this, and maybe make changes. I’ve always been a fan of the steam app up until now. Wish I wouldn’t have updated it.

Terrible Customer Service

I understand the refund policy is within 14 days and less than 2 hours played. I just had ACL reconstruction surgery and had family over to check on me. During this time a game I just purchased finished downloading and sat on the main menu for over 4 hours. I played 30 minutes of character setup and the tutorial to find out this game wasn’t as expected. I explained the situation in the refund request, and subsequently 4 others, which were declined. I cannot believe any company would not take exception in this scenario, especially for a loyal customer wanting to exchange said game for another. This company does not care about their customers at all. I will use another platform to pass time during my recovery.

Adding a phone number for 2fa and PayPal is garbage

Xbox and PlayStation have entering 2fa and PayPal be the easiest thing on the planet. Valve has made it beyond miserable just to do the basic features. They have my phone number but I still can’t set up 2fa via mobile and PayPal on the app NEVER works. Instead I’ve got this Steam Guard that could not be anymore confusing. Why can’t Valve just spend some money and hire competent coders for a better app & mobile system. I’m sure my problems are nonexistent on a full blown windows pc but I don’t have one of those. An underwhelming experience

It has come far from the days of just messaging people or opening up steam pages and crashing, so I thought with this new update it might be able to breath new air into the app. I was half right, the update/overhaul to the UI and some needed QOL of changes such as not crashing anytime I do something have been helpful and while the UI feels cleaner and less clunky; I cannot say the same for its navigation experience. Often times I will be wanting to wishlist or buy games and the icons simply won’t register being clicked and it isn’t very clear that clicking on a title vs clicking on the thumbnail will warrant a different result. Search bar is mediocre, often clicking multiple links within the app confuses it and can result in certain processes not loading and requiring a hard reset. In conclusion the app has lots of potential but as of now it’s a 6/10 from me.

Great app, but also pretty broken

I love the idea of being able to access Steam from my phone when I’m not home, and it’s convenient if I don’t have access to my PC. Overall, it’s a great app to use when I’m away, but this app also has quite a few flaws.

The user interface is kinda buggy and slow, kind of feels like a website on a console. Whenever I add funds to my wallet, I usually have to restart the app for them to appear, even through the payment has been processed.

There aren’t a lot of problems in the app, but when there are, it’s pretty annoying. Besides the cons, this app is very nice to use and gives a great user experience when it works.

The new version adds much needed features but…

I really like a lot of the new features added in the recent overhaul, being able to redeem codes in the app itself is a huge plus. That said, it’s clear this update was not made with iPads in mind, there’s no support for Landscape orientation. There are major issues with the search function too, typing into the bar doesn’t offer suggestions and tapping return just clears the bar without taking you into a search page. This means i cannot actually search the store within the app. Which, given that this is a storefront first and foremost, is a major problem. With those issues fixed, this is a 5-star app easy. But until then, i can only give it a 3. Please fix this soon!

EDIT: landscape support has been added and makes the app much more functional but the search bar still does not work at all, this needs to be fixed asap

New update massively improves things

Some things I’ve noticed:

The app crashes whenever you hide notifications in the notification tab

When you click store, then free games, it has an oval icon with tags that run over and past it

I don’t think there’s a way to see my library as I have put my games in folders on the Steam desktop app

Community market does not seem to work, gives message “The market is unavailable for the following reason(s): Steam is having trouble using your browser’s cookie. To remove this restriction…”
