Pay attention to the pro version !

Hello. I am using the pro version. After updating to iPadOS 17, it no longer works and crashes when entering the password and cannot be used! I have many videos in it. But now I see that the pro version has been completely removed from the app store and is no longer available! Please give an update for the pro version to be compatible with ios 17

Not the same app that I purchased long ago

I bought the paid version several years ago for the single reason of not wanting to deal with ads. Now, apparently, that purchase is now void, because there is no way to remove them with recent versions.

No longer supports iPad 2

I have been using this app for a few years now. Going back to the premium no ads version that I paid for, and got screwed over on since now I have to put up with ads. Though my iPad 2 is no longer my primary iPad I do use it as a media player for my kids. Especially for movies on road trips. Now with this update I will no longer be able to update this app. Unfortunately this also means if it were to be deleted I will not be able to download it again. Also it is no longer compatible with my oldest child's iPod Touch 5th gen. I mean really it's not even that old yet.

My one & only video player 💯👌

I've been using this for a long time & I can honestly say that it's the best vp on the App Store that supports subtitles encoding & importing videos over wifi... & for the ads, they only appear when you pause the video so I don't mind that at all & if you didn't like them you can by the remove ad pack or simply turn off your wifi while using it.

Playback issues

It's great that 64-Bit support was added in this update. Something I mentioned in the previous review. 1080p 10-Bit plays a lot smoother on the iPad Air, which is fantastic. Good job.

However, ever since updating to this version. I am having lots of playback issues.

• Resume seems broken. When I select the same video, it would restart with no audio playback.

• Seeking through the video would cause the audio to stop working. This also affects the resume feature.

• As someone who watches anime on this app, having subtitles disappear is a big no-no. Subtitles would often disappear when playing fast motion scenes (Anime Openings/Endings) with the Karaoke effects. This wasn't a problem on the previous version.

Please iron out the bugs in your app. A video player is useless when it has playback issues. I do not recommend anyone update to this version until the developer fixes this.

Really good app except for one thing…

The only reason I didn't give this amazing app 5 stars is because there is an issue with editing playlists: As soon as you try to delete an item from the playlist or add one to a pre-existing playlist, the app crashes. I think in at least one version this didn't happen. Any way to fix this? I'd be more than happy to buy multiple copies if this were fixed.

An addendum: Strangely, I just tried the app and playlist editing worked perfectly.

Is there some setting which causes the app to fail?The odd thing is that I tried it on 11 different identical iPad mini 2's today and it crashed every time.

They screwed up!!!

Whatever you do, DO NOT update this app!!! This current version is the worst! Unfortunately I paid for this APP so I wouldn't have to deal with advertisements, now the only way to avoid the ads is to turn off the wifi. Thanks for nothing! I also used to be able to edit the videos without any problems but now after finishing my playlists I have to delete the app re-install it and then reload my videos. Just a total pain!

iOS 8.4 issues

MKV scrubbing is now broken for a large number of files. If you scrub to a part of the video and let it play, the entire app crashes after 3-4 seconds.

Bugs introduced....

The recent update introduced bugs that were not present previously. Audio no longer functions for some of my files that were DTS encoded. It was the only player that would work with these files. I am using an iPhone 6 Plus and iOS 8.3. Please fix ASAP! Thank you.

I don't know what "bugs" were fixed, but I know what was spoiled by the latest update - audio playback in most of my *.mkv files is no longer working. And when I try to select audio stream manually the list of available audio streams is empty.

Displays ad when you pause

I do like the video playback, but these ads are distracting and irritating. Worse still, if you click on the "x" to close the ad, you then are given 3 choices to click on to explain why you are closing the ad ... and you can then get another ad. Four stars for the app minus two stars for the irritating ads.

Please listen

This is by far the best MKV player I have ever used. At lease when it comes to its graphical capabilities. I have tried 4gb+ MKV files in OplayerHD and elsewhere and they all stuttered. Here it played flawlessly and with ease.

This is where I need you to listen: The scrubber, time-seeking mechanism, on this app is awful.

There are times I want to go back just a few seconds or so but end up scrubbing back way to far, even minutes before. The device is multi-touch so there are various way of improving this: be creative.

The arrow buttons that take me back to my previous movie is pointless, as I have no quick urge to begin a new movie. Have it to be used to go back 10 to 5 seconds and be adjustable.

This is just constructive criticism to help make this app better and more useful then just its graphical prowess.

Best Plan B - Or Maybe Another A?

My friends, these have been dark times of late. Our good friend, our companion, VLC for iOS was recently felled in cyber-combat, thus leaving many of us without a trusty digital handheld AV player... Could this be the end of free cross-format video players? Could this be the great kibosh of the nonintrusive UI and awesome wireless content transfer over local networks?

Nay, my friends, nay! Fear not, for there is the HD Player come to save the day! This app does all that VLC had done, back in it's time, at a quality near to, if not equal or greater than, it's alternative. Rejoice, friends, and bask in the cools winds that is freedom.

It works!

I am normally a very critical reviewer and rarely write good things about apps but this one really works! I could put an MP4 movie and subtitle from my Mac to my iPad through the web interface of this app wirelessly. Then, I streamed it to my Apple TV with subtitle. Everything worked flawlessly. Congrats to the developer!

Awesome app but not 100% perfect

Has worked every time I've played a file. My only gripe is when I pause the video. Sometimes it hangs, forcing me to close it so I can restart it then fast forward to where I left off. Not a major issues and I hope it gets resolved.

Good app

This is a good app. Runs well and is simple to use. It could use some additional codecs as not all audio will play and you will need to convert some files in order to get them to play, but it's free and it provides high quality video.

Worked perfectly

VLC wasn't playing mkvs with subs (not sure why) so I researched video apps and this had the best reviews. I tried it and it worked great - played everything I needed including anime - and it was free. Seriously couldn't ask for more.

Best Video Player App Out There

No I wasn't paid to write this. I just feel like letting people know before spending any money on a crap video player like PlayerXtreme that there is a great free one right here. This one plays most video files problem free. Personally I use it to play Anime with subs which it works great for since it supports the dynamic subtitles. The only downside is that I have the Pro Version that I bought 2 years ago which removed the small ad banner. However the Pro version is no longer supported or updated so I have the use the updated free version.

How is this thing free?

This player is so good, I would not have any problem paying $5 for it. It would be nice though if you could dish out some cash to remove that one ad. The ad is very discret but some people just like the option to remove all ads from there apps.

The ONLY Video Player app that works.

This is by far the best app. It can handle pretty much any MKV compared to other "video" player apps. Honestly if you want your MKV videos to work, get this. Or Infuse 3.0. Besides that everything else is useless. However I think the UI should be more clean.

best option available

i have used this and 2 other players and this seems to work the best. it is able to handle large video files (8gb+) and is simple. my only complaint is that i tried to play the same video file on this and the other players and this one had a much quieter maximum volume. it is not with all files, just some. also, it would be nice if they would add the ability to have folders so that files could be organized. lastly, I would be willing to pay for a version without ads if they release one.

Flawless 1080 playback, but videos listing could be better

Video playback is very smooth and flawless. If only this app had a way to sort videos into folders and allow changing the list of videos to icons, it would be the best video player available today for ipad. Guys, if you're reading this, please add this support. And I won't mind paying to get the ads removed.

Great app

Very good App, I transferred a whole season of the TV show Arrow from my computer to the iPad through my home Wi-Fi network in less than five minutes. The only flaw is you got a transfer file by file and you can not transfer all the files in one shot, but not a big deal at all. Great application for transferring videos and music without using iTunes.

Best video player.

With its simple design, this app plays .mkv formats with ease. Though you'd have to buy the package for it to work but it is so very worth it. The other apps are slow even if it compatible with mkv formats. This app is fast and pretty easy to use. Best video player on the App Store.

Great app!

I love it's functionality with .mkv files! My only hope is that you add the ability to slow the amount you fast forward by dragging down when fast forwarding (full, half, slow speed, etc.). If this gets implemented ill give 5 stars for sure!

Great!!

Rather than a review, I just have a suggestion. Hopefully it gets addressed!

It would be a plus if they could add the swipe and touch functionality for the player control(left & right to rewind... Up & down for volume) and tap screen to play or pause!

Or add a standalone rewind button that can be set by time (5, 10, or 30 sec) to quickly to back to a scene(especially when watching Anime and I missed a line in the subtitles). Maybe that's just me though.

The only reason I switched from AV PLAYER to this one is mainly because the subs are shown exactly as I see them on my computer.

Meaning that there's no overlap when multiple texts are displayed at one!!

(Which is a BIG issue with the aforementioned app. And sometimes it won't show the sub at all after rewinding... Unless I restart the app)

Anyways, I just would better playback control features.

And it should bring this app closer to perfection!

Excellent for 1080P on iPad Air

All the other video players I tried were either complete trash, had advertisements, or simply couldn't handle 1080p MKVs (dropped frames causing video stream corruption). The only downsides are the vaguely nonstandard video UI and not rendering subtitles at a per-pixel resolution, it's drawn on the video then scaled up. Neither of these are total deal breakers, though.

Had to sync with iTunes apps, but not a full sync which would delete my files if I use another computer. Played my MKV's perfectly. Could use some more features but had all the necessities.

I was able to download the codec pack with no issues on my iPad. If I could make a recommend, for the Locations it would nice to have the ability to add a folder destination instead of the actual file.

Great player

I've tried a bunch of players on my ipad2. This is the best of all of them. Love the fact that it can play mkv files with the optional codec pack. Do have a problem connecting with wi-fi that I haven't sorted out yet but it's easy transferring files with iTunes.

Subtitle issues

Great app only a couple of kinks with arabic subs

Outline is almost invisible if there at all, which makes it hard to see subs when a matching background comes by

The font is always in BOLD which combined with no outlines makes the subs even mushy-er, a font style control would be great if not regular font would be better option

hi10p playback improvement

I've been testing various apps and there have been only three apps that can play back hi10p efficiently on an iPad mini: this, yaplayer and nPlayer. The hdplayer is the only one that can play back with full embedded STYLIZED subs while the other two have issues with font loading. I highly recommend this app, even though it has yet to fully play back h10p flawlessly on the iPad mini. There will be occasional stuttering.

Guys the app is awesome I use it to play mp4 files with srt subtitles but there is an annoying bug, if I played the file the subtitles show probably but if I played it again it never shows again I try to disable and enable it but still doesn't show, re opening app or restarting iphone doesn't resolve the isdue either, please care!

Useless now after update

Worked great before recent update. Now all my videos have no sound....even the ones that do not use the codecs that has been discontinued by the developer. And a couple of them don't even run anymore. His recommended solution? Reconvert the videos using his software on your computer. And it still doesn't work for some.

So that means this isn't a drag and drop app for videos anymore.

Don't bother, move on.

Yay! No more converting .mpg's and avi's for ipad or iphone

Pretty good working app that will just play your .mpg's and .avi's with just file transferring them in the app sync area of itunes. Main annoyance is you get harassed by a pop up each time you run the app to buy a codec pack to support .flv and .mkv files - I haven't tried .flv files but the .mkv will play video after purchase BUT there's no audio because of some copyright issue apparently... AND the pop up keeps coming even after I purchased it. Fix that please! And explain what is the problem with the mkv audio!

But I am pretty happy not having to convert for itunes playback anymore! Drag and Drop!

why are you removing AC3? that is the most widely used audio codec out there, and will leave most videos without sound!!! also, why not just make this a pay app instead of a "free" app that does nothing and still requires the purchase of a codec pack to do anything.... thats just deceptive and takes your app down a notch.

now that the bad is out of the way, the app does what it claims if you purchase the codec pack, so far it seems to be the best as i can see, although i havent upgraded to this recent release that pulls out VERY IMPORTANT audio codec's...

Meh

Pretty good for avis/MPEGs/H264s and MP4s but doesn't always buffer the whole video like I have to watch it all the way from the start to continue my movie wish they would update that so that it either buffers all in the beginning or buffers to the exact point you scroll the player other that that pretty good.

Guess what?

If you don't have any videos, you can't access the settings page. Maybe I don't want to use iTunes to upload a video into your app -- maybe I want to open a video from another app, or from a website. Well, if that video is an .FLV, I can't buy your codec pack because I can't get to the missing settings tab. Because of your lack of testing, you lost a customer. I'm uninstalling this now and going to get a different app to play FLV. I pays to test your app before you release it!

Works fine if you follow these instructions

The instructions are vague about how to do file sharing.

First make sure your device is connected to your computer and is visible to iTunes, (which needs to be open.)

In iTunes, click on your device, then go to the Apps button. NOT THE APPS TAB ON THE LEFT MENU BAR !!

The "Apps" button between the "Info" and "Tones" tabs on the home screen for your device

Once there SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM. There shouldl be a list of your apps that can do file sharing.

Click HD Player then click "Add" in the lower right and go find your file.

It will move a copy to your device and the HD Player menu on your device.

To remove files:

- again go to iTunes, with device connected,

- click device,

- click Apps,

- scroll down,

- click HD Player

- select file and hit delete button on keyboard. bye bye.

Once you learn this, it is a nice app and it is free
