Needs more space to write

06/29/2017 I'm like it now! Big improvements. I wish the letters were be bigger. I write my "work" when I'm able yet this app comes in handy for on the go "work". Thanks for the updates 😀----->Past review from 2013:The app is in general good but now I can't see my typing after two lines. The instructions need to move upwards and the typing needs a scroll so the user can at least look at the last thing he wrote. Picture of Katie takes up valuable space. Aesthetics take valuable space. Even if it doesn't look that good make it more functional. THE IMPOTRTANT THING IS TO DO "THE WORK" NOT PASSING TO THE SECOND ROUND OF A CYBER BEAUTY CONTEST!

Now it would be great if the app worked also on landscape mode.

Good content but......

The font is too small and I'm unable to use my fingers to enlarge the text on my iPhone. It's not very easy in the eyes in my opinion. I tried one of the worksheets but instead of reflecting on the "work" I found I felt frustrated with the layout.

Need to have Password option

I love the app and I love doing the Work. Please add:

1. a password option. I think it makes sense to protect the info in the journal.

2. an option to delete a journal entry or delete all journal entries.

With those 2 options added I would immediately upgrade to 5 stars.

Nice. But bugs with saving work

Need to be able to delete saved forms because it saves things prematurely so I have a bunch of empty or unwanted forms taking up space on the list. Also, when completing a "Situation" sheet and then moving to creating sheets for those individual Beliefs, the sheets are not saving correctly. The titles are blank (not populating correctly). So saving of forms has major glitches. But the flow of the forms and the idea is great and I'm liking using it. Would also like to be able to email myself the forms to print out or share with others.

I love the idea! But glitchy. 😒

After I easily glide through the judge your neighbor worksheet, (it's awesome and flawless!) it lets me go through the statements I've written to investigate using the 4 questions..

The only problem is, it takes me to the four questions, but the beliefs that I click on, aren't showing up where they should.

It's left blank. Then when I go back to past entries, it shows up there.

I'd love to see this glitch worked out so I can actually use this app! Until then I'll just use the PDF on the website because this is too glitchy.

Password & Mac support

This app is much needed to support Macpro. Many of us work on Mac laptops while doing this type of meditative work with more space on a keyboard and screen vs just the iphone or iPad (too small). Additionally, password protection is needed due to the sensitie nature of content one reveals while doing the work.

I love the app, makes it so easy to do the work. Here are some enhancements I'd like to see-- in the turnaround section, add in "I look forward to...". Also in turnaround section, give examples for thoughts, not just people, I.e. "My thoughts..."

It was a long wait but boy, was it worth it - this new and improved app is a simple and accessible way to do the Work. I basically gave up all hope but I genuinely thank the developers for revamping this app to great effect at long last. Thank you.

Very Helpful

This app provides a quick and easy way to do the work. I would like to be able to clear the record of my completed worksheets off the app without having to reinstall. There is a glitch in the turnaround section where the examples of a turnaround are listed as turnarounds. I find this app very helpful.

Katie please advise

Katie please look at the posted reviews! This is a great app in theory but it's not user friendly! How can I turn my thoughts around if they don't appear when keyboard is open. I know Katie to be someone who does everything with great eye to work in detail and grace. All her events and facilitators are well trained and run. Please Katie can you have a competent app design as well? The work of Katie is a God send but this app is not user friendly and a turn off. Please advise!

Belief is not showing up

First of all, I LOVE Byron Katie and I LOVE the new version of the app!! There is a significant problem, though. After I've done all the work doing The Work/JYNW and go to examine each individual belief, the app just says "belief" instead of recording what I typed earlier. I can only assume this is a buggy mistake. Please, please fix and I will HAPPILY give five stars!!! And thank you!!!!

Not very user friendly

Love the fact that an app exists for The Work, AND there are some technical issues that could be improved.

A few examples are:

-Can't scroll up to see the belief you're working on without exiting out of the keyboard.

-The last letter of each belief is deleted after filling out the worksheet.

-Can't zoom in on emotions list. In order to see it you have to pinch zoom and hold it there, but it won't stay.

-No way to tap enter when typing a new paragraph.

-The typing automatically goes to capitals so when the worksheet is filled out it looks like "I need Paul to Take a deep breath..."

The Setup itself isn't very useful as there seems to be a superfluous amount of buttons and things to do that distract from the inquiry.

The hardest part for me about doing The Work without a facilitator is keeping focused.

I would love the app to tackle this problem with perhaps a voice option so you can do the inquiry out loud instead of writing it down.

You can still say your answers out loud using the microphone on your phone when typing your answer, but it would be great to hear the questions aloud and be able to give voice commands when you're ready to move on to the next question.

Not what I expected.

There doesn't seem to be any way to save what you've typed. And if you go backwards through the screens a races everything that you had previously typed.

I guess it's good if all you want to do is be guided through one stressful situation.

The Work is truly doable on this App

WOW. I had given up on this app as a tool long ago and then today I noticed the icon for it had changed. I opened it up because I was curious and was amazed at how it now works. The developer really got it right this time and it was worth the wait. I will be recommending to people in my circles as a place to start their Work. It is intuitive enough for beginners to get it. I hope 'The Work' on my phone is as good as my writing it out by hand. Sometimes I think I type better on my phone than I write. Thank you thank you thank you.

Very helpful

Update: The best upgrade ever. This app now does everything. It has a detailed JYNW with the sub questions, the list of emotions, the one belief at a time. I was happily surprised today to see this excellent update. This is worth much more than its actual cost.

Update: This is the only app that has no updates. An update is long overdue. I have noticed a bug lately. Please fix it.

All I can say is that I am glad I trusted my intuition and bought this app. When I read the negative reviews , I decided not to buy this app, and fortunately one of the reviews mentioned something about the app working better with iphones. This app is really very helpful. It's very practical and keeps you focused. I can't save my Work, but i can email it to myself. I just wish they offered the whole Judge Your Neighbor worksheet. It would have been awesome.

Freezing/crashing

Would be wonderful if you could see what you are typing and if you could save your work. Sometimes I need a little time to think and when I went back to continue filling out the questions all work was lost. App gets stuck and all work lost.

Doesn't work

Loving The Work

great idea but needs serious work

Please fix the bugs and make it worth the $1.99:

1. The keyboard gets in the way of any writing more than two lines. For the stressful thought (keeping it simple) that's fine, but for 'how do you react' etc., those lists can be long and more space is helpful. (!)

2. Can't go back at all to reword what you're working on.

3. Crashes. :( Just stays stuck.

4. Adding a save function would be very helpful:

a) to keep while you're working on a paritcular stressful thought

b) to see the evolution of that work

c) then to see what thought is no longer an issue, and maybe a delete option to celebrate letting go or 'the thought letting go of you'! :)

5. Adding some of BK's top quotations/advice would be helpful to have to refer to, to remember, to use as little mantras: 'Be a lover of what is'; 'People who believe their stressful thoughts are confused'; 'We're all doing our best'; 'Defense is the first act of war'; 'There are no new stressful thoughts', etc. Written or using her voice as audio, or both. :)

6. For the Save function, there could also be a priority element, to star those thoughts that continue to arise, you could see (by # of stars/hits) that that particular thought is chronic.

App glitch

The app worked the first time but has stuck the during subsequent attempts. Judging from previous reviews, it may be overdue an update or two? I will be asking for a refund in the next week, if the glitch isn't corrected.

Needs technical improvements

App locks up and you cannot save work....I love the app in concept and it needs some technical improvements. The keyboard appears without keys sometimes. The keyboard overlays what you're typing so you can't see what you're typing. Fonts size does not auto adjust. App gets stuck at the point of entering the first turn around and you cannot swipe forward or backward therefore losing your work.

Good idea, poor execution

I am bummed I bought this app. It's pretty much useless. As other people note, after you type in the first few words, you can see what you are writing. The words disappear under the large pop up keyboard. Also, it keeps crashing. And the video doesn't work. I hope that someone is working to update this app for all the paying customers who downloaded it. Thank you.

Life saver

I've had this app on my phone for probably 3+ years and use it if ever feeling overwhelmed and or in need of some insight. I love the audio prompts and use them every time; I also have an iPhone that's equips with Siri and dictation abilities, and find that answering the prompts out loud enhances the whole experience. Not only is it more like what I'd imagine the real thing might be like, but something about voicing my turnarounds - and hearing myself speak them out loud - really drives the point home in a way that's different from times I've typed my responses without speaking them. I guess I also feel more free because the language is fluid. I don't know... Anyway, thanks for the wonderful app! I've never had the video prompts work but it's never bothered me because it's so easy to access a wealth of free video available online. I only mention it in case it's feedback the app team may find useful in some way. Thanks!!

Could be useful but needs update for crashes.

Unfortunately it crashes midway through the steps and all work is lost. This is very frustrating and therefore useless and not worth the money spent to purchase this app.

This should not reflect on Katie or The Work.

I will gladly reexamine this review if the problems are effectively fixed.

Until then it's a waste of money and I want a refund.

Big help but ....

I love having this simple way to examine my thoughts and quickly feel better. I am a psychotherapist and this is one of the most effective tools I've ever found. However the app could use some upgrades. For example allowing the user to use the keyboard sideways; improving scrolling so users can read what they are writing better and having the navigation arrows more responsive. Thank you for this app. I love having the Work into pocket. It is helping me through a rough time.

This app is disturbing to the "felt sense". Trust your gut. It's got a big pic of katie taking up space and that's a wonderful thing to change. I believe this is driven by katie. Google "janaki byron katie" to learn more.

I wrote the webmaster about their bizarre use of acreage on this app with her photo, and haven't heard a reply. No suprise there. The work is a great tool. See it as only that if you wish.

I love this app, yet while I'm working on it, it often times turns itself off and I lose all my writings. Or sometimes I don't have enough time to work through one liner and want to work it later, yet it doesn't hold the data for a long time.

Great concept - not enough options

Going through step-by-step is great but when one thought is investigated, no option to save or go to the next thought without closing app and reopening.

Picture of Katie is self serving and unnecessary for doing the work. Not enough screen space to see what has been written and follow own thoughts as I go along.

The idea is great and I love being able to have the Work on the go.

Could really use some work and please take large photo of BK out of process. This is my work.

Save your time and your money

Unlike the wonderful, newer iPad app, Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet, which walks you through your stressful thoughts most effectively, "The Work App" is awful. One cannot navigate within the the app, so there's no editing previous stressful thoughts or getting any context or an overview of where you are going. Very poorly designed app. Get the iPad app, "Judge Your Neighbor Worksheet" instead.

Still no FIX for update?

Dreadfully disappointing update. Wake up wake up! Why has there been no correction to the horrible update that prevents the user from seeing what they write? It's been months! And the reviews seem skewed, because the app is practically unusable. I sent a detailed explanation of iPhone woes, but this app team is asleep. So disappointing.

It's Crap!

I'm extremely unimpressed and disappointed that I wasted the 1.99 on this app. I was looking into the Liberator Method and came across this lady's work (Byron Katie?) maybe I had to read her book to understand the point of twisting sentences around but it was anti-climactic and left me feeling like "duuuh? What just happened? Nothing...except for wasting my money". Don't bother.

This is a truly marvelous app, but it needs to have screen support for the iPhone 5, I have actually never had this app crash on me, which is amazing. The reason I have it only four stars is because of the lack of support for the iPhone 5's bigger screen.

The update is great! Smaller file size and clearer. Katie supports me as I write my concepts, answer the questions, work the turnarounds and then email the facilitations to myself. So sweet. Audios and videos explaining how to do The Work on my iPhone --priceless.

Not very sophisticated

Well I'm glad I paid only $2 and not $5 like some people. The app could stand a lot of improvement. For example, a full worksheet format where you are not limited to only 4 turnarounds. And, especially, the ability to save your work to go back to later. Otherwise, if you don't email it to yourself at the end, it's gone forever -- all that inquiry -- poof! Gone! Really could be a life changing app to have on hand at any moment, but needs some "work" itself.

Indeed, the app is like Katie holding my hand in the work but I can't save the results!!! I do not have an option button to save or email to myself as stated in the description. App doesn't work

I so looked forward to getting this app and after downloading it, it has never worked. The audio button yields nothing and after I type in my statement, nothing happens except the screen momentarily trying to load. I emailed my complaint and no one bothered to even reply from the company. $4.99 is TOO EXPENSIVE for this poor quality of an app...perhaps someone could respond from the company...or maybe I should just contact Byron Katie!

Not enough for the money

This app does not meet my expectations and I would not purchase it again if given the chance. It is basically a one belief at a time app, and I expected a complete judge your neighbor worksheet to fill in on the go. My expectation for a complete judge your neighbor worksheet was based partially on the high price. I'm hoping for an update in the future that includes a full worksheet. I have used the work on the web before and thought this would be similar--a worksheet I could type out on the go. Is there a worksheet option I'm missing somewhere in the app? I'm surprised at the products design.

Love this app!

Sure, I can do this work with paper and pencil - what I love is that it keeps me on the straight and narrow to focus on the heart of The Work. As Katie says, our stories lead us away from ourselves, and this app keeps me out of my own story. The video and audio support are very helpful to get to the essence of my inquiry, which is what I really want.

Too expensive? What is the price of suffering? It is so convenient to have this with me on my iPad, and able to quickly work through something while I am in the moment.

Katie, thank you for exploring the use of technology to bring The Work into many avenues and media. Mwuah!
