SmartHub provides utility and telecommunications customers account management at their fingertips. Customers can view their usage and billing, manage payments, notify customer service of account and service issues and receive special messaging from their local utility or telecommunications company. NISC serves over 500 telecoms and utilities across the nation, install the application to determine if your local organization is supported.

Requires tracking to use

This app requires you to allow google to track you. I run an ad and tracking blocker DNS service from my house. When I use this app from WiFi I cannot get past the login screen. If I move to cellular, or disable the DNS service, then the app works. I looked in the log of my tracking blocker and can see that the app is attempting to access google analytics. When it cannot do so, it just sits there forever. I use the same blocking rules across my network and this is the only app that refuses to work when it cannot successfully track you. Please add a timeout to the tracking such that if the app cannot communicate with google analytics it will continue to the app anyways. I believe this is just a miss in the app code instead of something nefarious.

App won’t work

App used to only work if I disabled my VPN (not a fan of that). Now it won’t let me log in even by doing that. I have to check everything through the website. App just waits for ever and gives a cannot connect to services. Fix it please.

This app needs fixed

This is one of the most useful apps out there, but the devs need to fix it. It is only logging half the day's power usage (12am to 12pm). Many complaints and no response to fix it. Been like this for about a month. Pay attention devs.

Issues

The app works fine

The guy who reviewed this app because he was too lazy to remember his own password, was his very own fault. He explained how he used facial recognition as his password of remembering instead of initially remembering the actual password he had setup for himself. I have been able to access into the app itself and do about everything I need to do in the app. The app constantly keeps asking you if you want to go paperless after you have denied them. That’s probably where the program developer needs to do the fixing at. Other than that, the app works perfectly the way it has been designed to. Just don’t forget your password and depend on just one thing without using another method to sign in.

Can’t log in after update

Can’t login

This is the only way I pay my Internet bill and it has not let me sign in. The office is closed because of COVID and it takes forever to get someone on the phone. It is crazy to have an app that never works.

App Always Crashes

Can’t even get to the login screen

The website is more useful then this app. When first setting up it asks you to search for your provider either by name or location. With the proper permission given on my iPhone 12 the app is unable to find any providers in my area. Then when searching specifically by the name of a provider the search constantly fails with just a message stating that the app failed to search. Makes the whole Althing kinda useless if you can’t even find your provider to login.

Electric usage data seems to have lots of problems.

Electric usage seems to have lots of problems since I downloaded the app over a year ago. Current usage data has been offline for 3 weeks and always says “data still downloading, please check back later” called local utility and they said they have told SmartHub about the issue.

TRASH!! Will process payment incorrectly

Forced to use app WHICH DOES NOT WORK

Had no choice but to use this app to pay utilities. The fun part is that you can not register. When you get to the part about entering your zip code and hit enter the app just says “please wait” for a split second and then nothing happens. You can not progress past this point.

Useless until updated

This app has not worked on my iPhone nor my iPad in months, I’ve had to call my electric company to pay over the phone because their website forces me to SmartHub. I was reading through the reviews and one person mentioned it doesn’t work on iOS, only on android. So I pulled out my old Motorola and lo and behold, I was able to open the app.
Normally if I don’t like an app I don’t leave one star reviews, I just delete it, but we depend on this for our paperless billing and payments. FIX THIS PLEASE!!

Trust me, the app is fine.

I was a bit nervous to sign up with the app for paying my electricity bill because of all the negative reviews but I did it anyways and glad I did because the app is completely fine, people are just cry babies. I reviewed my usage for the month, it broke down my charges on my bill and I signed up for autopay. Everything was very simple and easy and I couldn’t ask for anything more for just a simple electric bill.

This hub app is great when it works. Been having issues last couple of weeks connecting. It's their server. So don't lose hope if this happens to you. It's a temporary glitch. Guess I'll do it the old fashion way and write a check.

Some issues

So far the app has been useful other than recently it won’t allow me to cancel the auto pay I set up with my utility company. It says there is a server issue that will not allow me to complete the action. This is very inconvenient and frustrating and I’d appreciate if the app team could resolve this issue soon.

The worst app I ever seen.

When ever I try to make a payment trough this app on my IPhone and get to the point of entering my card security code they don't allow me to do it. Doesn't make any difference how many times I try there is no way for me to make a payment on this app. There isn’t any way to pay with a credit card only allows payments by bank check or savings account something I consider to be very stupid.
Not only their app stinks have been trying to signing on my on Safari, Firefox and chrome on my iPhone and they are not allowing me.

App still won’t stay open on my iPad Pro nor my wife’s

I can no longer get the app to function on my iPad Pro. It’s worked very well for last two years but all of the sudden crash city. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app but problem still exists. App allows sign in, starts to load and then immediately closes. This has been happening for months. App works fine on my android phone. Do not add this on iOS devices.

Wish I’d gotten this sooner—amazing info all in one place!

Love this app! I can see what KW I’m using each day. Can compare from each week the difference in usage. Can go back a yr. to see what I was using. Shows what percentage I’ve increased or decreased in a yrs time frame. This makes me feel I am more in control of my electric bill. Being on a fixed low disability income, this helps me know if I’m going over too much. Highly recommend this to anyone. Can pay through this site too. So easy!

Change password

I have iOS devices and I recently updated to the latest iOS version and changed my password for SmartHub and I no longer can login to my account. I have talked to my local provider to resolve this issue also contacted Apple with no resolution to this issue. I had to go back to receiving my paper bill because I can’t login to my account.

Works for me

Not sure why it is a problem for many people. But the app works fine on my 11 Pro Max. Just slightly a little slow but all the basic functions work including FaceID.

Offline for updates

I’ve never in my life tried to use an app that said it was offline for updates until this one. I didn’t even know that could happen. Why are the updates not in the App Store when ready? I have only a smart phone and it’s coronavirus right now so I’m not going in person and even if I wanted to their lobby was closed last I checked. Sure hope I don’t get a late charge or have my electricity shut off because of this mess

Not working

When I first downloaded this app it worked great. I use this to monitor and pay my electric bills for a house I own out of state so it’s nice to have this to keep an eye on it. Now the last month or more the app does not seem able to connect to the server! So is this an app issue or something bigger? Either way it needs to be addressed ASAP!! I tried going to the app developer website and no way to contact them there so hopefully they monitor comments here.

Not user friendly

My electric company just changed to this format. There was no instructions on how to re set up auto payments. You can’t copy paste when setting new password. There’s no option to see password as typing. Then it tells you you have too many characters. 12-15 characters btw. Instructions to set up notifications are incorrect or the app is just not working when you go there. It has wasted a lot of my time. It doesn’t even show what date my payment is due so I don’t even know if my payment was made during the transition of changing to this type of format. I hope bugs are fixed and it becomes more user friendly soon.

I don’t usually write reviews however, I did enjoy this app for some time and it made paying bills very convenient . However I recently noticed I can’t access the account. It will not let me log in and it’s been this way for more than a week and I’m not sure what to do. Hope this gets fixed soon.

No longer works, do not waste your time.

Since the most recent update the app no longer works for me and I am unable to connect or log into any of accounts. I constantly receive a “unable to connect to server message” despite reinstalling the app and ensuring the setting are correct. Lucky for me I can still take care of these accounts via their respective websites however, it was convenient having them all in one place. It has not been working for over two weeks at this point.

You’re in trouble

If your utility company uses this app and tries to say it is their account management solution, they are wrong.
If your utility company used this app, then you live in an area where there is limited service which allows this small time telecommunications companies to price gouge customers, hoard the local business, block competition and provide horrible service.

Malfunction

A little aggravated, I’ve been using this app for around 6 months and it’s been good to me until this week. I went to sign in, it not only logged me off but won’t let me back in. I’ve even changed my password and all. I used the same information, email, last name and billing number it then takes me to the change password prompt. When I go to change my password it tells me invalid match even though I’m typing everything correctly. I had to go to the website and pay my bill which isn’t a big deal, but I’m hoping you guys can resolve this issue through the app. Thank you.

Update did not fix the usage page problem

Another update for this app today and again did not fix he problem of being able to see my usage. How many times do I have to write this review to get this fixed. Still can’t see my daily usage with Kaua’i utility company. Some kind of response to know someone is working on this would be nice.

Its ok, but a lot conveniences has been removed

I like this app for paying my electric bill, but it looks like there has been some changes that removed a lot ways to conveniently make a payment on your account.
1. Biometric or Touch ID authentication has been removed (specifically speaking about IOS devices, don’t know about other devices).
2. No longer able to select credentials from the IOS password and account list so the password has to be entered everytime one goes to log in.
3. If one closes out of the app, for less than a nano second and then reopen after that nano second you have to enter the credentials again to log back in (I dislike this the most cause it’s a major inconvenience when I have to close out of the app for a sec to log into my bank app to get my bank information when I don’t have it in front of me).
4. You can no longer paste in banking routing and account number information taken directly from my banking app.
Maybe the changes were made to help make the app more secure, but there can be a happy medium between security and convenience. At least put the Touch ID and paste feature back.

Updated App doesn’t allow you switch meters

The Updated version does not allow you to switch between your meters to see your power usage. I have 2 meters. When you go to settings it lists the available meters but when you select a meter, that selection fails to show. Basically the App have defaulted to one meter and doesn’t allow you to change it. The previous version was much better in this regard.

The recent update is not good

I used to love this app but since the last update I can’t switch between providers or use any of the features of the app. In the old version I could switch between multiple PUD’s that feature is gone? I can no longer add, delete or change providers using the app. I have to uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and that is the only time I can access the home screen. Once I select a provider I am stuck on there site.

App is junk!

After the last update this app doesn’t work properly, it shows data unavailable when looking at your usage. In order to get it to load, you have to clear cache which logs you out of the app and then you have to log back in. This app is full of bugs since update. You would think that with todays technology it wouldn’t take weeks to get the bugs fixed. This has been going on for weeks with no updates to fix the app.

Worked great before the update.

Don’t know why companies always feel they need to update apps that work and are solid.
The new update to v3 is very buggy. If you have multiple accounts or meters you can not go between each of them without receiving ‘no data available’. Only ‘clear cache’ resets it and that’s a pain as it logs the user out of the app.

Old version was better

I loved this app for the last several months! Now with the most recent update, Nov 2019, I can only ever get my usage to show up about 20-30% of the time. And the app crashes about half the time. The format of the app is less user friendly. I loved the color coded usage colors. Red showing more usage and green being a low usage day. Don’t know why you would take that away.

Unnecessary Update

The new “green” logo update is blah. The previous version was much easier to read and you were able to get the information you wanted quickly with just a simple glance or tap. Everything now just looks cheap and clustered and not very aesthetically pleasing on top of it all. Remember, don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Bugs fixed

Many bugs have been fixed with this app. There are a few still there (the usage tab sometimes does not load everything or anything at all), but the user critical features have been fixed. Most importantly I can easily pay my bill! I appreciate the quick support to fixing the app.

Not working

This new version (last update) is not working in my phone, I try to tap everywhere at the screen and it just doesn’t work. I have an iPhone XS Max.

Latest update crashes on iOS

Got updated on Oct 10, 2019 and now app crashes right after logging in. Called my utility and we tried the usual of turning off iPhone and uninstalling and reinstalling app. After that they checked with developer and found out there is a known problem with the new release. Hope they get it fixed soon I have been using the app to track usage and solar generation.

I love the app and the convenience it provides but it would be even better if there was a dark mode option in settings for those of us with sensitive eyesight. Please and thank you

Great app for

keeping up with my electric bill. Only complaint is the pst several days the daily usage hasn’t been shown. In the area for it it just has two black dashes instead of the different colors for usage.

Face ID Login is a Bust

I get all my internet bills through this app. I don’t receive any of them in the mail and my login is face recognition. Therefore I really have no reason to remember my login information and I don’t have easy access to my account number if I need to reset the password.
One day the face recognition didn’t work. After that it stopped trying to recognize my face all together forcing me to use the regular login. I don’t have that info and don’t have access to my account number to reset my password. There needs to be an option to use face recognition on the login page at the click of a button rather than solely relying on it to automatically use face recognition when one opens the app.

Poor app.

I set up Smarthub for my telephone and electric accounts. I can’t get into either account after setup even though I just set it up. The message is” invalid ID or Password”. When I go to “Forgot password or ID”, the website asks for my account, last name and ID. I enter the proper info and the website return with “no account is found” or something similar. Very frustrating.

Convenient

App is easy to use. I can see my daily energy usage so of it’s super cold I can see whether the warmer days have offset or whether I should plan for a larger bill. Also nice to see long term comparisons. I’ve not paid a bill through it but it has that feature.

Bugs and more

Impossible to get to the “Disable Auto-pay” without first clicking to accept the terms of auto-pay. And if you do click the OK, then click the Disable Auto-Pay, you get a server error and are told you can’t delete auto-pay.
When signing up for auto-pay, the exceptionally long list of terms and conditions displayed cannot be printed.
The data display often lacks meter data from the prior day until late the following day. There seems no way to get the app to just refresh what is missing. Instead you have to tell it to re-download all data.
If the app is started in portrait mode on an iPad, it will not notice that the iPad has been rotated.
This app needs a fair bit of work.

Exactly what I’m asking for in an app like this

When I open it, it tells me what I owe. It walks me quickly and simply through making the payment. It immediately updates to show “no balance due.” It’s easy to navigate, and I’ve never had any problems. If paying all my bills was anywhere near this easy, it would be much less painful!

Seriously? Just fix the 2 issues.

Would be a great app but Is basically rendered useless simply because it does not do the two most important things and only reasons to have the app! You have already made the app... why not fix the 2 issues?? Why? I think we would all like to be able to set up a date for our bills to be paid automatically. I mean that’s what autopay means. Second, all the data in the world does not help me if I can’t receive alerts of some sort at a cost or usage I set. No one has time to stare at the app all day to monitor it. It’s almost like you want us to be late with the auto pay issue so you can charge late fees because it’s very misleading and you don’t want to warn us of overage limits we set so that we can rack our bills up sky high. Just fix it or move one...

To all the people having problems at log in...

Uninstall the app and then reinstall. Just got off the phone with my power co reporting the problem to them that everyone is having and the fix was simple. Uninstall and then put it back on. Worked like magic on my iPhone 7 and google pixel

Fix all the issues with this app.

Many comments on whats is wrong with this app has been submitted but nothing is done about it. Fix it or toss it out of circulation. I have deleted it and I’m sure many more will too if the issues are not dealt with!
Don’t download this app. They know what is wrong for many months and will not update it to fix it.

Needs improvement

The app is very helpful when checking my power usage. However, i downloaded this app because i do not have power stat. It would be nice if the update for this app could have a widget where you can check your balance.

Genuinely useful

I never leave reviews but this is a great app for iPhone. Use the fingerprint hit pay and your done. Keeps track of bills pay history. Great job on this app guys.

Good app but one small change will make it great

This app is a more convenient way of paying my electric bill but one small addition will make it perfect.
Add the option to input a date you want to pay the bill so you can set it up ahead of time. I have been late paying my bill by a few days (a couple of times)because I forget. If I could set up the payment date ahead of time I could do that when I’m doing my budget for the month and paying other bills.

Terrible login security

I can not believe that in this day and age with all the data & security breaches the only thing I can use as my user name is my email address. Horrible! My email address is out there on hundreds of websites and very likely on the dark web. None of my other financial and service provider accounts require using an email address as the user name. Most don’t even allow it because an email address is very insecure!!!! Also, the password can not contain even some of the most basic special characters. Another big whoops by the developers. Get with the times!!! If this is the type of weak security I can expect just for logging in there is no way in hell I will ever store something like a credit card number on it!!! Anyone with nefarious intentions can easily get an email address, break the easy-peasy passwords because stronger ones aren’t allowed and then they have all kinds of information about my utility services, where I live, what properties I one. Horrible!!!!
