Description

Watercolour Reference has been designed to assist watercolour artists and painters, either beginners or the more advanced. This app assists the artist in the choice of appropriate colours and shades by providing data on individual colour characteristics and suggesting colour mixes/combinations and tips for a variety of topics.
Suggested colour mixes can be viewed on your Apple Watch for quick reference.
The Paint Mixing simulation allows you to choose up to three colours and mix them together in varying quantities to produce an estimate of how they might mix in the real world.
Watercolour Reference currently uses the watercolour portfolios of Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith.
Included with this app are suggested combinations for portrait and flower painting plus a general watercolour characteristics database.
Additional categories can be purchased in-app.

Worthless

This is a glorified ad for their paints. Can 't believe I just paid money for it.

Waste of Money

This app is about worthless. As a beginning watercolorist, I expected better.
First, only W&N paints are listed, not Daniel Smith as indicated in the advertising blurb.
Second, the tips are so basic as to be insulting. "Don't drink the water you use to clean your brushes." Indeed!
Third, referring to a paint color is useless without calling out the pigment number also. This would allow cross-reference to other paint manufacturers.
The iPad is capable of displaying many colors. Why not include a color mixing function?
All-in-all, a waste of money as is. Disappointing to say the least.

Not enough info

This app would be great if some sample pics and more mixing choices. There's just not enough information to be of real use to a painter, mixing formulas and more variety would be nessisary to make this app even remotely useful to the beginner. It's not worth the three bucks! I want a refund. Do not buy until its been updated and revamped. Maybe the developer should consult an artist before putting out this app. I don't understand why its even allowed to be put in the app store. Put a little effort into the app (to the developer) and put a whole lot more subject matter than flowers and portraits. As it is, it's just not worth the $$$$
Being an artist I'm quite offended by the lack of subject matter.
You could at least add a color mixing option with actual paint colors to show what a mixture would produce.
This app is junk!
Sorry, but I want a refund.
