Every online game includes someone who goes for nil on the first hand and then quits once they don’t get it. You end up playing 3 AI in the online match, then you quit too. Then they ban you for 24 hours for quitting matches. lol great experience

Ads disrupt play
Would be a decent game, and I like that you can play against real people. But only one star until they stop having ads between each turn. It’s easy to get stuck in an add (have to click multiple times to get out of it!) and other players can boot you while you try to get back to the table. Dumbest ad design ever.

Unplayable at this point.
Something happened with this game. In between rounds they have ads, which is fine for a free game. However, at some point some of the ads started to not give you a way to get past them. As a result, you know have a 10% chance of getting booted from your active game because you can’t get past the ad and your turn times out.

This Game Cheats Worse Than Mario Cart
To begin this game is fun and I do enjoy playing spades. I’ve noticed after years of playing that this game cheats on many levels. The computer partner is the best player for the other team to begin with. The computer seems to know what cards you are playing with and it ruins nil bets with ease. The computer always manages not to pick up any books but somehow you’re already down a hundred points and about half through the next set of books.

Need to find a way to make the booting process not take so long! And penalize them from abandoning games, like have them not be able to play for the rest of the day or for 2 days. People let it sit and are always leaving the game… It happens 80% of the times I play daily! Once one lets it sit so long then usually their partner leaves because they don’t want to play with a bot…. For the longest time I thought people do that so that they don’t lose a token or something if they get booted instead of just leaving instantly. Other than that I love the app and play allllll throughout the day daily :)

FRUSTRATING AI BOTS AND ADS
I’ve played this game for years. It used to be incredibly fun to play on single player, but now it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure what AI it’s using, but the bots can definitely see your cards. They always magically know just what to play based on what you have to make you lose. Your partner is also now actively working against you in so many ways that you’re essentially going up against three AI bots in single player. I can’t tell you how many times my partner has deliberately played hands that have made us lose.
Also, there are now ads between each round. Yes they’re short, but I’m tired of all apps doing this especially when it originally only had banner ads. I don’t want to hear it’s how the app makes money or whatever because they didn’t have ads like this for over six years. Absolutely annoying.

Solo Gamer Rating
I play this game b/c I am playing AI for practice. However, something in their algorithm is off b/c I have encountered them reneging. Also, it seems I get the same type of hand over and over again with one face card, and my AI opponents always end up with Kings and Aces. Also, a zero bid is allowed, but I think it’s cheating because either my opponent or partner will throw off with Aces. Can’t stand it.
Update: I don’t know if I want to blame cheating or just AI, but yeah, I had to throw this back. I get a hand with 2 spades, 3 heart, 7 clubs, and 1 heart back to back to back to back after starting a new solo hand/game. I play spades enough to know your hands should look the same every time, and playing AI, and getting 7 of the same suit repeatedly is asylum.

3 vs 1
I’ve been playing this game for years, probably over a decade. I mostly just play the “single game” mode against the CPU. Idk what’s happened recently but suddenly my “partner” is the worst spades player in the history of the game. I was on a 5 game winning streak then lost 5 straight, won one and am on an 8 game losing streak as I type. They bid nil when the only “club” in their hand was an ace, they cut me constantly, NEVER bid correctly, purposely not cut and force us to overbid, I can go on for days. Over the years I’ve even adjusted my bid because if they bid anything over “5”, just assume they overbid by at least 1 but this is ridiculous. If I’m gonna CONSTANTLY lose because of my partner I guess it’s time to find a new game. As I said, I’ve been playing this game for probably over a decade and up until 2 weeks ago, I’d have given it 5 stars. Now, it gets 3 and hope for improvement.

AI player is a joke
I left a review 3 years ago about how bad the app was getting and it’s only gotten worse since then. The AI that takes over when someone quits is TERRIBLE. There have been so many games that I’ve been winning at and something happens that my partner leaves, and the AI starts making the dumbest plays. Like cutting with the A, K, or Q of spades instead of the low spades and wasting all the high spades on cuts and not making the bid because now it only has low spades.
I don’t believe the developers actually care to fix the game because I keep seeing the same complaints from 3 years ago until now and I don’t understand how this app has a 4.8 rating.
Even a lot of the 5 star reviews have complaints though, that’s probably why the rating is so high. Why rate it 5 stars when the review is not a 5 star review? Why are we rewarding this app with a high rating when NOTHING gets fixed.

Bad AI/Suspect rigged algorithms for dealt hands
I used to play this game every day and would play on lunch breaks and I got rated in the 2000’s over time. One time during a vacation I ran out of coins and bought some to keep playing. Immediately after I couldn’t get a good hand to save my life. Every hand I was dealt was not bad enough to go for Nil but not good enough to bid more than 2, or to go for a set on the opponent. This went on for days and then I deleted the app out of frustration. Well 2 years later I just redownloaded it thinking maybe it’s different. Nope it’s worse. Now it’s not even tolerable to play on free mode. I’ve lost so many games do to my AI partner not being smart enough to realize what to do (not covering my Nil, not trying to give the other team overbooks/bags when they have 7+ already). I’ve lost so many games because my opponents get hands that don’t even give you a chance to compete. What made me write this review was I just lost because the same player on the other team had Nil hand twice in a row, and not just a Nil hand, they didn’t have a single spade either time. So you’re telling me that randomly, the same player out of four, gets dealt a 3 suited hand, and that randomly, the suit they don’t have is spades? They need to get rid of nil bid in rated games, we never have it at the table and I didn’t know what it was until I played here. It’s kind of dumb to get more points for having a bad hand, no?

Great Game but the ads get you booted
Game is great. Bots actually can bid and nil. I don’t like that the bots play highest spade when cutting a book, but much better than other spades games
Bad is that the ads are terrible to break out of. If we press a button incorrectly we get in a loop of pressing Done, x Done, x until we get booted. I would like you to see that after so many attempts the game allows you in with enough time to bid and continue playing. Its not like we are inactive.
Winning and losing Points is great but I would like to see something done for points when a partner leaves. Like if we stay and lose, could point only reduce by 1/2 the points and if we win increase by 1/2 of the points. The person leaving should always lose all the points( I don’t know if it is already that way or not)

New Ad Style making game almost unplayable
The game used to be fine and I didn't mind the ads when they rarely had sound. But recently, the ads have become insufferable to the point that after a few hands, I'm done. All of a sudden, whenever I click the X or fast forward sign, it brings up the app store instead of going back to the game. Sometimes I click move on and it takes me to the app store 3 times in a row before I can finally get back to my game. And now, the ads have more music than ever, so if I'm listening to a podcast and trying to play, the sounds from the ads cut off my pod or music, and after every hand I have to go to music or apple podcasts and hit play. I spend more time clicking away from ads and restarting music than actually playing this game. You can always make the argument that it's free, but what's the point when free = terrible? 👎🏿

Bad app
This app has gone bad. First, they’ve severely cut what one wins in solo - a quarter of the winnings go to no one. It’s almost impossible to play to win decent winnings in solo mode now. But the huge issue, that I think they should be sued for: I noticed that it would freeze years ago, but one could close it and open it back up to your game and keep going. That alone would often cause me to lose the game, but at least I got to play it. Now, it happens 3 out of every 5 games I try to play. And I can’t get the game back. Often, just towards the end. I play high point games - so the games are longer. For years, if you let the app know: they send you the same reply - it’s something to do with your internet, or your computer: I can say unequivocally now - they are lying. And it means I’ve lost a lost of money in the course of several years, believing them and continuing to be their customer. So they are royally screwing their longtime customers. Someone should do a class action lawsuit against them - I’m sure so many people would get on board that the app would be taken down and they won’t be able to scam more customers.

Platform breeds toxic player base - update
I play this game a lot because I love spades, but the platform itself breeds toxicity. From bad chat immutable options to penalizing leaving, to not being able to ban toxic players... The mechanical aspect is good, now please work on player interactions. It really stumps me how there’s a penalty for leaving but not for calling 13, which is way worse.
Update 2024 - I think I wrote the previous review back in 2018 or something. Good news, people get kicked for calling 13. That’s a huge improvement and significantly reduced toxicity. Now one huge issue left - devs, please flat out remove the built in chat options from ranked games. The only things people use these for are annoying spam and cheating.

Fun to play but glitches sometimes
I’ve twice in the past few days experienced a glitch and screen captured it. In the glitch, at the beginning of the game, some of the cards appeared lifted and I could not select the card beneath the “lifted card.” My teammate went nil and I could not protect. I have video screen capture evidence of the glitches from both occurrences. When I tried to report the problem through the app, it told me to configure an email but I could find no way to configure an email in the app in the settings. If the developers would reach out to me with an email address, I can send them still images or videos.
Otherwise, I’ve been playing this app for years. Always a go-to.

Great game and app, but could use a couple of tweaks
I enjoy this app, as I enjoy playing Spades, but there are a couple of tweaks I’d like to see when it comes to blind nil bids.
1. A player shouldn’t be allowed to bid blind nil after the opponents make their bids - if the first three players collectively bid for 12 tricks, that’s a pretty big hint to the fourth. So, the choice to bid blind should be set up to occur before the regular bidding starts.
2. When I’ve bid blind nil in actual in-person Spades games, it is customary for the blind bidder and their partner to swap one or two cards each prior to commencing the hand - this allows a blind bidder to get rid of an Ace of Spades and give themselves a chance. This should be an option in a future release of this Spades app.

Great app for learning spades, but it’s got flaws
I downloaded this app because I wanted to learn how to play spades, and I didn’t want to have to sit and watch people play it and explain everything to me. After a couple of weeks, I learned all the basics and started to pick up some strategies, handily destroying the easy and medium AI’s. Wanting more of a challenge, I switched the difficulty to hard AI. That’s when the cracks started to show. Hard AI doesn’t change up any of its strategies as the other two difficulties, instead it just cheats and knows all of the cards in everyone’s hands. It will bid blind zero when it knows it’s hand is unbeatable, always winning. Also, if you bid zero, it will make every player lead the one suit that will trip you up. Even YOUR partner will lead a card that every other AI can get under except you, like it’s 3 against 1 instead of 2v2. At first I thought it was just really bad luck, but after having so many zero bids scrapped due to a partner throwing under me, or maybe just being short suited and that suit never being played, it’s pretty obvious that “hard” mode is just the AI looking at your hand while you can’t see theirs.
It’s a great app for picking up spades, but play with real people when you want a challenge.
I played online a little with this game, but most of the time the other players would just stop playing halfway through a game, and then you’d be playing AI’s again.

Ranking and Quit Penalties
I really enjoy this game. I have been playing for quite a while but the ranking matched games need to change. I most of the time get matched with a partner whose rank is considerably lower than my own and they have no idea what they are doing and it costs me the game and a big hit on my ranking. And now the developers have decided that if you abandon too many games, there is a 24 hour wait before playing again. It is very frustrating when you have to play with a considerably lower ranked person and they cause you to lose. Please consider doing something with the rank matches. If there is no one in my rank level at the time I choose to play, then let it be my choice to not play at that time. I will continue to abandon a game when matched with an incompetent partner.

Lack of Integrity Affecting Win/Loss Stats
I love everything about the game and the feeling of a real spades game experience EXCEPT that players are able to abandon game table during the game. It is rude and a lack of integrity on player’s behalf when they play a bad hand, receive a bad hand, or jam up their partner and are able to just walk away and leave their player to deal with the consequence which include receiving a loss on their game statistics. The abandoning of the game by players is happening during almost every game is disruptive, unfair, and takes away the opportunity for us to play a strategic game of spades with real users from beginning to end. Please remove the ability for players to leave the game table after the game has begun!!!

Very buggy when I’m winning????
I really do like this game. It’s laggy and disconnecting issues are getting very annoying and unbearable. Add to this the lack of some sort of chat. Or after winning or losing you can elect to keep your partner. I seem to draw some non spade playing partners who think nil is I don’t have any spades I’m nil is a complete bidding option. I can’t not chose them. I’ve played with so many like this that when we do win I should be rewarded more for that miracle my partner went nil with a king spade and three hearts one is an ace. Definitely not nil. I’m going to rate this with 2 stars only because it’s still spades. It needs more options for play.

It’s a problem
Not big into leaving reviews but I need to get this off my chest. The AI, that is your partner, in this game is a complete idiot. I mean REALLY?!? The way this “computer” plays the hand is absolutely obnoxiously ignorant!! The game itself is fun and easy to play but when I have to consider the idiotic plays that my “partner” will make when bidding then it truly takes away from all the good the game has to offer. Fix this please!! This AI is driving me nuts. The game plays well but the stupidity of the computer is overwhelming and ruins the game completely!!! I can’t say enough negative things about the computer play!! UPDATE: I just deleted this App!!! The Stupidity!! of the AI takes ALL the fun out of this game. Thank You to the developers for not charging $$ for any part of this game because that would have been a legit CRIME!! I wish I could slap the guy that programmed this game!! I really, REALLY do!!!

Chat Ban!
This game is actually fun and one of the better spades apps but of course there is a set back. People you play can report you randomly and without reason. Sometimes people trash talk but it generally isn’t that serious. The problem is people can report you and say anything they want. There is no moderator or any review of the reports that are sent. Needless to say that leads to people no longer being able to communicate with eachother or their partner during a game. So if you enjoy playing with someone and would like to play with them again in the future there is no way to contact them once you’ve been banned from chat. If reports could be moderated or were reviewed I’d rate this game a lot higher. Unfortunately, due to the chat bans this game hands out all the time I’d say invest your time in another spades app, at least until they start to moderate or review their chat policy.

Horrible algorithms
Update: played this game for a long time, went as high as 2143 rating, played and beat players above 2600… then all of a sudden im 1590 and cant get back up no matter what… you do the math.
Computer AI logic of disseminating cards is elementary to say the least. It's at a point where you can predict the cards if you play it long enough and its always the same old boring thing. At least mix it up a little I would say.... Computer also bans players if they leave games...that being said, you can get a 24 hour ban or worst if you choose to leave games where your partners are clearly losing on purpose. Not sure whos great idea the ban thing was but its really frustrating to be forced to play with losers or face being banned... Not sure which is worst...hence I chose to delete. My suggestion? - don't even go through the trouble of downloading the game, there are plenty other spade games out there. This one is a waste of time.

Good Game, Could Be Better
Great user interface, easy to use, fun. The one thing that would take this app from good to great is if you got more points for winning than negative points for losing. There are some instances on rated games where I’ll end up winning a hand and go up 8-10 points and then lose the next hand and go down 8-10 points (or sometimes more than if I won). I understand it’s based on the rankings of the other players in the game but just as a general rule of thumb I think your consequence for losing should never be equal to or greater than the reward for winning. Creates a feeling that you aren’t going anywhere in your rank. My style of scoring system still creates groups of more skilled players towards the top end, but it should make it a little easier to get out of the 1700s/1800s.
PLEASE FIX THE POINT VALUES FOR WINNING AND LOSING. I went up 8 for winning and then went down 10 for losing the next game when my partner LEFT. You should ALWAYS go up more for winning than for losing, regardless of the rating of the other players. You should go up 7-10 points if you win (based on the rating of who you beat) and go back 3-6 points for losing (based on the rating of who you lost to). Very frustrating, have been stuck in the 1700’s for months because of bad partner play. One step forward, two steps back.

Need to fix matching
The game itself is good and the rating system is usually a good indication of the skill level of your partner. That being said matching players with a large difference between their ratings is not fair to the person with the higher rating. For example a player with a low rating may not understand some of the nuances of the game, because they have never actually played it in person. There should be an option to refuse the match for those who wish to have a competitive game that is not sabotaged by poor play such as bidding nil with 4 spades. Understanding that there’s situations for that but that’s the exception and not the norm. Developers: expect a crappy review each time I get matched with a player who doesn’t understand the basics of the game. Matching players that’s are hundreds of points apart in ratings isn’t fair to the player with the higher rating.

Wow… partner?
If you know anything about spades, at all… think about what would have you screaming across the table at your partner. In this game your partner will do ALL of that stuff! All of it… they didn’t miss a thing. Unpredictable bidding… check. Saving your opponents nil hands? Check! Overbooking like crazy to set you back, sometimes three times in a game… YUP! Not protecting you on a nil hand… oh yeah! Throwing spades to pull all yours so you can’t make bid… of course!
Sometimes he underbids by seven books!! Then on the next hand he can’t make his three. My partner in this game has wasted all his spades catching hands, got my nil set, AND got us set back for overbooks all in one hand. All of that stuff… I could write off to terrible programming except your opponents make mistakes like that once in a blue moon.
Lastly, it is readily apparent that your opponents know what you have in your hand. As an illustration, I bid a nil and have one ace in my hand that’s protected by at least two low cards. The guy to my left leads that suit and takes the book twice in a row and throws his last card of that suit to pull my ace… but the guy on my right is out and doesn’t drop a spade even though my partner is winning the book, and they’re in a pinch to make bid? Sure…
I keep looking for another spade game. The commercials are nonstop too… don’t waste your time.

Updated review… fun game.. very competitive.. I have won and lost games.. won many in a row and lost several in a row. It can get frustrating because players who are randomly selected to be a playing partner quit for various reasons: phone battery runs out, watches advertisements too long; made a bade decision while playing (bid too high or went zero and could not achieve it). This game needs to make communication better between players and prevent players from quitting a game. Fun game. Just relax and play, learn to win and accept a loss.

Partner is worthless at times
This game is user friendly but your partner does very dumb things, mostly when you go nil. When I go nil or bn, my partner almost always spades another suit with his HIGHEST spade and then plays lower spades when the suit is actually led. I get set often because of this. Also, he leads with low cards even though he is holding higher ones. For instance, he recently led with an 8, but later on played the Ace in the same suit. Furthermore, it is extremely hard to set opponents because they bag all the time. But on the other hand, my partner will not get his bid about 40% of the time. If the developer responds with “The computer partner plays his best card”, it’s not true. I’ve been playing spades a very long time and know he could be a lot better.

Here is the problem with this app when u play for ranking u get paired with a terrible player they bid 9 and get 4 then leave the game. I stick out the game and I lose points. I also hate that it’s easy to get a nil hand some games are over in two rounds because a player can get two nils. The app should not give so many points for a nil in a game to 250. It’s fine if it’s a friendly game to 500 but I game to 250 nil should be worth half the points if the ai gifts one team a win the other team shouldn’t lose points because no play they could have made will help them. The ap should also allow you the ability to tell they system if you never want to be paired with that partner again at games end. Last the ai is messed up you could be winning big and the ai will step in and help the losing side does this all the time. If I play with the computer because my partner left I should not lose points most of the time the computer is dumber than some of the players on here. The ai is seriously flawed

It’s okay BUT
This is a okay game with some serious issues. Here’s a list of a few 1- players are not well ranked and are often poor partners who make big mistakes that costs you. 2- players are allowed to drop out of the game after they screwed it up without penalty or consequence. 3- when players drop out of game bot takes over and their play is often as bad as beginners which again costs you. Very frustrating!!! 4- periodically the game locks up and you are booted or entire game is lost. 5- players who bail out of a game prematurely should be penalized for that action, regardless of whether the team wins or loses the game. Especially if they don’t make their bid or take a point on a Nill bid. There partner shouldn’t be left holding their trash bag. 6- some players are so slow in playing their cards. I understand once in awhile people get distracted but not every turn. It makes the game unenjoyable for other players. 7- often you can bid your hand perfectly but your partner over bids or doesn’t make their bids which resulted in you losing the game even when you play was spot on. Credit should be given for well played hands regardless of your partners poor play.

Booted during ads
I love the game play on this app. I don’t pay to play free games on my phone, so I understand that seeing ads will be part of my experience. Unfortunately, they play ads in between hands (during rated games) that either can’t be exited or take so long to play that you get booted from the game. This is unbelievably frustrating. On average, I get booted once every 15 games or so. After working my way up over 2300 rating, it has become unacceptable to get booted from important games.
I will also say the amount of angry players that act like they’ve never busted or got a bag in their life is ridiculous. There should be a 100 point rating deduction for players that: 1. Bid nil and lead with an ace 2. Bid nil with the ace of spades or 3. Intentionally overbid by four or more books than you get. Salty players should be penalized.
If not for these two issues, it would be an easy five star rating. Not sure how much longer I will play this game without correcting them.

AI partner is infuriating!
The AI partner is more of a liability than it’s worth. As soon as a player breaks spades, the AI empties all the spades in its hand, wiping out any advantage you might have had on a broken suit. For example: I have the 10, 5, 6, and 3 of spades, and only one heart. Once I play the heart, and break spades, instead of feeding out hearts to take advantage of it, my “partner” will start throwing all its high spades, wiping me out, and often losing itself by playing a king before the ace has been revealed. In a normal game, I might be able to pick up a couple of tricks before the other players break. One time, this exact scenario happened and I assumed the AI had also run out of the suit. Nope. Once all the spades were exhausted, out pops a 5 of hearts. The opposing AIs seem to understand this premise just fine. I’ve learned to cut my bid as a result. The AI is also streaky in its bidding, going through stretches where it will do things like bid 3 or 4 and get zero, with nothing in its hand to justify the bid. Other times it will rake in hand bags in bunches. Restarting the app is the quickest way to get it back on track.

Needs improvement
I’ve been playing spades for years with actual people and love the game, so I saw this and downloaded it. At first playing it seems pretty good. But the more I’ve played the more I see huge flaws. For example just as others have stated going nil with low cards my partner will throw a lower card than me in a suit causing me to take a book; then the next hand throw an ace or king.
The opposing team somehow “instinctively” knows their partner is either out of a certain suit, has the next highest card in a suit or the highest spade and will throw accordingly. If it were humans I’d cause them of cheating or being psychic.
Out of 20 games - not hands, games- I might win one. I play at hard level but it doesn’t matter which level you play at the ai still plays the same. Very frustrating.
Developers need to look at this and make better ai response.

Used to be a good app
This is no longer the top Spades app for a reason. It let’s literally anyone join “the round table” competitive table, including completely incompetent, zero common sense having, players who completely waste everyone’s time who legitimately enjoy playing this game. There is zero chance these morons have a career win percentage higher than 20%. So when you tell the person they play like an amateur, they repot you and the app suspends your chat privileges indefinitely instead of doing anything about players who intentionally tag bags or go nil with King and Queen of spades. Their AI isn’t much better. Bids 1 with two aces and a King. There’s never any lag, it boots players who take too long, but it’s very frustrating dealing with players who don’t have an ounce of common sense at the most competitive table and the app refuses to do anything about it.

The Worst AI Player Partner Ever
Computer players against you are great. Intelligent plays made by opponents. I guess the allure of the game is to be as frustrated as possible with your computer playing partner. AI partner is constantly getting set or way under bidding. My favorite so far was the computer bidding 1 with three aces and four spades. I also love it when you are sitting at 480 with 2 bags and computer goes nil for no reason (and fails). It is also almost impossible to give your opponents bags as your computer partner will be happy enough to collect them. I think the programmers are genius though. By making you AI player partner so inept (like going for nil at 480) it keeps you playing longer and you get to see more ads.

Player reporting inaccurate
I have played this game for years and I have always liked it despite a few flaws. However, recently they have added a feature allowing players to report one another’s abuse. The problem is that you get reported for doing nothing. Example, if someone doesn’t like your profile picture, they will report you. If your user name is associated with someone or something they don’t like they will report you, then without any investigation of the matter, your ability to talk to other players is disabled for a few days. This has happened to me twice. I literally changed my profile picture to a cartoon because I think people just report someone because they don’t like their race. I may find another app to play on. I miss the old days on Yahoo Spades.

The game will boot your partner and replace with a bot who will make sure you lose so you’ll purchase more coins to play. It’s so obvious!!! Last game I played, had one hand left to win. The other team was over by 8 and we just needed 5 cards to win and make them go over by 2. My partner got booted, I bid 3, my new computer partner bids 1 when we only needed 2 more cards. The other team bids 0 and 3, which is a sure win and my computer partner throws down all aces, kings, queens, etc. Other team only goes over by 9 and wins the game.
I’m deleting this app because this has happened too many times and it’s ridiculously obvious. Lost that game and guess what?! I was out of coins and needed to pay money to keep playing! What a shocker!! This money hungry crap takes the fun out of the game! Is it not enough that we have to see ads the entire time we play PLUS a commercial during each hand?? Guess not!

It is good BUT
I really like your game but i almost deleted it after playing quite a bit for some time. The computer team was able to go Nello almost every hand. When my computer partner went Nello, he usually got a book.
After i reached a higher level this decreased but there are games that one of the computer team goes Nello most hands douing the game.
I have used this to increase my skills in going Nello. But, quite often i am prevented from going Nello due to having one or two aces and am left with going with betting one or to books.
Also my computer partner will recognize when i have the trump card but when it comes to the high cards, especially spades, he will trump me and we lose a book. This has caused us to not meet our bid several tomes.
You have made a much better games than others have and i than you. Dad

Having a Partner is more like opponent
Overall the game play is fine and it does what it is supposed to. There are no lags. I like to play solo (AI version). So this review is based on that. I have the free version and honestly couldn’t find a paid version, if that would make a difference. The biggest, most frustrating part of the game is your team player. It is like you are playing alone but have to also suffer poor decisions of partner. Here are some examples.
1. Going nil: I went nil. Yes it was a stretch, but it was just a game. My partner also went nil. So that means there is no way we could cover for each other.
2. Covering Partner: In real play, a partner would cover their teammate if it were a possible move. I went Nil. A suit was called that I had to play and it was only a mid range number. My partner, who was NOT going nil, threw a card less than mine so I won the trick cost our team 100 points. Turns out, they had the Ace of that suit.
I could go on with examples like this where having a partner was worse than being a single player. Even if I could sort of get the first scenario, the second made no sense. If it was smart enough to know it didn’t have to over play because the partner had it, it should be smart enough to know the bid was nil and it shouldn’t use that tactic. Every time I play I get frustrated for those reasons. I got over the fact you couldn’t count on the partner. But final straw was when it bid nil when I already had.

Too many foul players
Edit: 7/1/20 Developers did respond to my review and thanks for taking the time to do that. One easy fix you could do that would greatly benefit everyone who plays in rated multiplayer is eliminating the 13 bid.

This is a decent app for spades, and I appreciate the clean aesthetic without a lot of extra clutter on the screen BUT players will bid 13 if you make a mistake, or abandon the game, and even though they penalize the player who leaves, you still lose points on your rating when you lose. I’ve seen players completely sabotage games out of spite if they get set or get a book when the bid nil. It looks like you can’t get above 1700 points without spending money on more coins or the game will give you hands that are guaranteed to lose unless someone on the other team makes a serious mistake. And if your partner leaves and you decide to play with the pc partner, the ai will sabotage you too - by overbidding/underbidding. I recently had “shark” as a partner in multiplayer when it bid nil and proceeded to cut with a spade to win a book in a game I could’ve won. They need to fix that ASAP. It’s not fair to be punished for staying in the game when your partner quits or losing points because they left or sabotaged your game.

Great app, but AIs and adds are terrible
This is a great app to play spades with friends when you are not all together. Disappointed that you cannot trade a card for blind nill and first round is not led with lowest club, but otherwise game play is the same. The chat feature is fun and useful. Biggest complaints are the overwhelming amount of adds, between each round, and the horrible game play by the AIs. My partner dropped out of the game, the ai bids nill and then throws a spade on an off-card hand? The programming for game play on these characters needs some serious improvement. Only real way to play is with people you know. Playing with other real people is decent, but some people are terrible and you never know who you will get paired with.
A feature to be able to block players or add friends and improvement of the AIs would improve game play 100 fold.
An option to pay for no adds and unlimited tokens would be smart too.

Would be 5 Star but.........
Like many other reviews say this game is addicting and awesome. I don’t even mind the matchmaking settings. The problem with this game is like many other games PEOPLE partners get set once and instantly big Nil or 13 then Quit. Easily resolve 90% of this by....... implementing a higher rank loss for bidding 13 and Nil of the person doesn’t hit their hand. For those of us who hit their hands without getting set even on a loss give us points. Even 1+ for losing without missing a bid. It’s ridiculous that I have to be punished for others players rage bids then quitting. They get -10 I get -9!!!? Please figure out how to penalize people who get set regularly or bid nil or 13 and get set. It can’t be that hard of a fix and I’m tired of getting these types of players as my partners. Will easily change my rating to 5* if any attempt to fix is made thanks!

Convinced this game manipulates outcomes
I have played countless games, as I enjoy spades, so if you are entertained this could work for you. But the intelligence of the other players is poor, especially when I bid nil. I have countless times where my partner plays a high spade to win a trick that was not needed and is then left with a low spade (or no spade) to cover me. In addition, I am fully convinced that the program just wants the game to continue on to show more ads. The computer will often bid nil when it has over 400 points, and it is way to easy to bust that nil than earlier bid nils. My partner will often bid just enough to get us to 490 so the bags add up and potentially lose the game (but get another 2-3 hands of ads to watch). I don’t even worry if I get down by 400 points, as I believe the program wants to prolong the ads. I have come back several times from that far down (especially after my unintelligent partner can’t properly cover a blind nil), it’s all fun but I can’t play this any longer knowing that it’s just manipulating for increased ads.

New ad format ruins it
Used to love this app - played it so much I finally had to delete from my phone. Definitely WAS a five star. Then recently I weakened and downloaded again. To my great disappointment discovered developers had inserted a new in-hand ad format to supplement their existing format that displayed only after a hand was finished. With this new format a blinking shrieking obnoxious ad displayed on top of screen all through the hand you are trying to bid or play is constantly distracting you. Sometimes it’s so bad I literally start to get a headache. If the developers were secretly trying to cure my addiction it worked! I’ve moved on to other games. If I could rate this a negative five stars I would from sheer heartbreak.

This is my favorite spades version
I have played this daily for years. It is only getting better. This game has the best computer players out of any of them. It is the closest to reality thus far and I am the queen of spades. It is not perfect, but other versions do not compare. The only dislike I have is the new layout is visually hard to see. I prefer the other layout before this new update.
Suggestions- I do wish I could play varying rules though, like 10 for 200 or blind any number... Have a kitty. Have jokers wild. Stuff like that.
July 2019 update- I still love the game, but there should be no sandbags if your computer partner cannot recognize that you are dumping high cards.. A human can (who plays alot)

horrible partners!
the game itself is great and addicting but it gets very aggravating because the partners in solo mode are absolute idiots. I bid nil and invariable my partner leads a two or four. the opponents bid nil, and my partner plays his highest cards. he plays a higher card or overtrumps my tricks when he plays last and then we don't make our bid because he has used up his good cards to take tricks I would have won. he always plays his highest trump the first chance he gets, even when he is the last player and a low trump would win the trick. doesn't matter if you configure your partner conservative, regular, or aggressive--they don't know how to play the game!
UPDATE: This game gets NO stars! Rather than improving the AI partners, they get worse and worse. They have no idea how to bid--often bid 1 with 2-3 aces--and seem to think the goal of the game is to get as many bags as possible. They wait until the other team makes it's bid, then grab as many extra tricks as possible. Can't make it through a whole game without losing at least 100 points for 10 bags. I'm so aggravated by the poor play, this app will be uninstalled as soon as this review appears.

Computer partner bids nil, then trumps tricks unnecessarily
This game would be a lot of fun if not for the fact that your computer partner frequently spades tricks—even when it has other suits available to play—after it has bid nil, thereby costing your team 100 points for absolutely no good reason whatsoever. I have complained to the support staff about this, and received a totally lame reply: “I’m sorry you’re frustrated with how the AI chooses to play sometimes. Please know that the AI works very hard to make the best play it can, but sometimes doesn’t see the same moves a human would.” But this is not a case of an AI “not seeing the same move a human would”—this is a flat-out flaw in the programming. If the AI can’t play a nil hand the way a nil hand should be played, it shouldn’t be able to bid nil, plain and simple. In short, your computer partner will shoot you in the foot, because it is not programmed to play the game properly, making this game very frustrating to play.

AI is terrible
I’ve tried the single and multiplayer games multiple times. On single player, the AI is terrible. It constantly leads with spades that more often than not results in the opponent “running spades” and eliminating my ability to cut. Why is it programmed to lead with spades EVERY TIME if all the AI has are low level spades or only a couple? Also, when the opponent goes nil... the AI partner never tries to set them. There have been a few times that I’ve set it up to where the opponent has to play a high card in a suit just to have the AI cut the book.
I’ve played spades a long time. There are few people that I know that make nil such a big part of the rules. Where are the blind 6, 10 for 200, 4 book minimum bid, and jokers as wild cards options? Those are bigger displays of skills than the nil... which is just trying to go lower than the cards played.
On multiplayer, not sure what you can do but it’s annoying to play with folks that stall/take too long to play. Either be in a position to devote your attention to playing or don’t play.

This app is now very bad
I used to love this app. I would play it almost every day. Now, however, I cannot stand it. Believe me or not, I don’t care, this game is designed to cheat. Every single time that I put the AI in a position to have something negative happen, there is always something to counter act the negative. If the AI is going to have 10 bags, it gets either a really big hand for its partner or an actual 10 to make the negative mean nothing.
When my AI partner bids a 0, I can back it up and hold up on my end. BUT, if I bid a 0 my AI “partner” can NEVER seem to back me up. There have even been times where I bid 0 and my partner bids high and we get set as well as I make a book. We lose 150+. This has happened MANY times. It is almost like clockwork.
This used to be an enjoyable app. Not anymore. Every time I play it is almost a guaranteed disappointment because of the AI always being slanted to win.
It wasn’t like this before. I don’t even feel like I have a chance to win. The random things that happen are absolutely ridiculous and make the game very frustrating to say the least.
This is the longest review I have ever written as well as one that I never thought I would have to write. But it IS warranted.
This app is one of the apps I always made sure was installed on my phone. NOT ANYMORE. I don’t need the frustration and disappointment.

Best spades app, but that’s not saying much.
From what I’ve seen this is the best spades app as far as visually and game play but there are just some really bad ones out there.
What kills me about this app is there is no real accountability for players conduct. Most people are good but there are some that are just terrible and if you quit you get punished like children. You should be able to have a “friends list” and be able to play with or against those friends. You should be able to choose who you want to play with or against by looking at stats such as how many quits they have and their ranking. Also the ranked game has only one type of game, first to 250 and no double nils, you can’t freely chat, only has stupid phrases to choose from that don’t make sense.
MSN Zone website did it best. Unfortunately that is no longer around, but please find out what they did and try to duplicate. The app would be so much better.
I’ll be back in 24 hours after my punishment is over because I quit after my opponent kept bidding 13 and wasting my time, once again.

Throw The Whole App Away!!!!
I downloaded this app less than 24 hours ago and will be uninstalling. My partner and I were winning and there was a racist jerk on the team who became upset he was losing. He than began to tabletalk actually telling his partner what to play and harassing me. I clicked on his profile trying to report the issue and/or block the player and there was not an option to do either. I emailed the developer detailing the experience and suggesting the option be added to the app to report, block players etc. I received a response from the developer whose name is Jason. His response consisted of thanking me for emailing about the AI of the game and that he was sorry I had a bad experience with the "AI". My email had nothing at all to do with the AI of the app. It seems like he just clicked a random auto response and used it to reply to me without even taking the time to read the actual email I sent. I know that developers cannot control actions of other players but they do have control of the level of appreciation(or lack thereof) that they show their supporters. This has been a terrible experience and I refuse to support an app(rather free or not) whose developers show no appreciation or concern for their users.

Artificial Stupidity
I don't play multiplayer. I just play the computer. And I'm a bit thrown at how well the opponent AI plays yet my partner is a complete moron. If I set my partner to conservative it regularly underbids and we accumulate bags quickly. If I set my partner to normal it regularly overbids and can't catch its bid. In either case when our bid is met it won't throw off to force the other team to catch bags. The worst is it's behavior when I bid nil. I just played a game where I bid blind nil in a desperate attempt to win the game and I watched the cards very carefully. We were just a few tricks into the hand when my partner led with a 7 of diamonds and set me as I had an 8 as my lowest. I had already played a lower diamond in response to my opponent and my partner covered it. If my partner had no other diamonds it should have played a higher card in another suit (which it had). But just a few tricks later it played both a 10 and Jack of diamonds. If I played like that in real games I would never find a partner that would want to play with me. It's still the best one out there so far but it doesn't set a very high bar.

Computer is an idiot
I thought computers were supposed to be smart. The computer for this app is an absolute idiot. I’ve seen them take unnecessary bags, cut with the ace as opposed to a lower spade when their partner bid nil, play a 2 of club instead of the ace of club when trying to cover a nil, et cetera. They do not seem to understand the concept of throwing off, so they don’t accumulate unnecessary bags. Instead, they play as if the goal is to earn as many bags as possible. Also, I’ve seen the computer nil and throw off the 2 of clubs when they had to throw off the ace of clubs.
The computer also doesn’t know how to bid! Both teams could be tied at 499 with 8 bags. If the computer is the last to bid, they will not bid to win the game and they will not play “more” or “less” aggressive, in trying not to get bags or force the other team to get bags.
This app could be great but the computer leaves a lot to be desired... wish that I could rate it zero stars...

10 games already Quitters
I'm an experienced spades player I compete at tournaments so when I started playing around the 1600 rating they where obviously no match. It was still fun some thoughts. There should be more experience granted for repeatedly beating people down I should not be winning 8-9 matches in a row and getting such small experience. I like the game but I would rather pay than see ads every second. Next the skill pairing is way off I'll have a 1500 player playing with me versus two 1800 + players we still won but I had good hands. Next people stall and quit with bad hands. It's so annoying. If two people leave it should be a auto win and a penalty extra points for the winning team.
