Not a bad game, at all! Fun, decent amount of levels, and never lags

If you even vaguely like to smash things, you will love this game. I never write reviews but this game is so great, I had to.

I have an iPhone 6s and when ever I try to play, it gives me a black screen. I love this game and used to have it on my iPod 4 but please fix it.

I remember playing this game when I was younger, on my iPod touch 4th generation.. And now it is un playable and gives me a black screen. Please fix one of the all time best and please make a second one! This is by far the best game I've ever played on the App Store 👍🏼

I played this and it was so much fun for a long time, then I got bored because it got repetitive. As the title says, it gets bland after a while.

I hate endless runners and thankfully this isn't on of them. Really fun, excellent presentation. New entry in my top 10 list!

Hi, I don't normally choose to write reviews. I'm writing a review because I cannot believe that this game is good....... You could literally turn on the game and put it aside and It will play itself. Nothing has to do with the getaway you're not escaping anything. Waste of a dollar and I can't believe it has that many high reviews that's the only reason why I'm writing it.

Let down. Poor graphics, terrible physics, overall badly put together.

Worth a look if you think you're up for memorizing each level to improve your score but it gets monotonous doing so. If you're the type to just complete a track and move on then you probably will be done with this rather quickly.

I was playing and got what should of been a detour but the game just kept running on and I could see the whole rest of the level. Then when the course ended the screen went black. Overall, I give this game four stars. You'll see five because I won't count the bug in the rating.

The basic premise and execution of this game is fun. It's not anything great, it's nothing special... You're simply a guy who steals money and needs to make a fast getaway. The premise is indeed interesting, but the overall getaway mode is simply run of the mill, mediocre at best.

So you may be wondering why I rated this 5 stars. It's all because of the other game mode. You take the wheel of a large semi truck and the object is to reach the end of the level, all while smashing and wrecking through everything in your path. The idea behind it is even simpler than the getaway game, but it skyrockets this game from being kinda, "meh," to being, "HOLY BALLS DID YOU SEE HOW FAR THAT POLICE CAR FLEW?!" It is pure, unadulterated insanity and I love every second of it. There's something about human beings and our need for wanton destruction, and the developers of this game hit the sweet spot. Definitely worth checking out!

The controls will definitely take some time to get comfortable with, but they're simple. Left/Right or tap for whatever-boost-you-have, lots of great destruction and the wipe-outs are hilarious, but it's not as expectedly responsive as, say, a steering wheel would be, or maybe just sliding across the bottom of the screen for degrees of a turn, rather than only left/right or tilt steer.

It was a good game and very enjoyable. I paid .99$ when it came out and got allot of fun out of it. When the update came out to add more cars and tracks I thought they would be the same. Personally I felt it was a waste of another .99$. Tracks were okay, cars seemed slow, and only got about another ten minutes playing time. Almost ruined the entire game. Seemed like the producers wanted to make another dollar so they added some crap and made it look great.

That's it I've had it, not only will the game lag uncontrollably, cause you to lose around 1500 or 2500 points (much needed to unlock chapter) but NOW it won't even load the map without some sort of issue. This app is useless, worthless, piece of junk ever made. Look at all the other people that said the same thing and still no update. Knock knock, anyone home? Guess we have to make the update!! I told my friends the day I got it that this was the best game even though it lagged and now I told them not to get it! I'd rather waste my .99 cents at a dollar store and get plastic forks, but the only difference, the forks actually work. I know you don't want to listen to me rant on about this so long story short, worst app to ever have been made and is completely useless and the biggest waste of money that I could have used to get forks but instead get a poorly made, lousy constructed game in which you can't move, dodge or unlock new chapters because when you think you are doing ok letting the game work out the glitch....BAM!! Face full of semi. Don't get. Or!!!!!! Fix this stupid game!!!! Shzzzzz, :& (vomit on game)

If you're feeling like you only need to play something for one or two turns before you can be satisfied and continue your work or life, this is a good choice. This especially applies to those who like to drive fast and wish they never had to stop for cops or slower vehicles. Give it a shot.

This is the best game on my iPod I played it all morning but I wish all levels were already unlocked and that the point of the game was to destroy stuff and not just collect coins. Would have been five stars if you guys just change that and I'm using a 2nd gen device so in the middle of every single level it slows down and gets really choppy change that and you will get a five star review from me

Two words come from the game developer team that created reckless racing and here's another big hit with just enough storyline to bring in the bacon....home the bacon...whatever, just try the game, the smash up coin capturing cop avoiding top down gamestyle is a treasure in itself. Maybe add so me car damage and an analog gas pedal and brake and we could be life long friends...oh don't forget the cars and game modes thx. - ipad2 5.sumthin no lag flawless play

this game is insane and i mean it in a good way, but please add a FULL steering wheel and definitely brakes and accelerometer, kind of like parking mania controls. graphics are one of the best so don't change anything. sometimes i don't want to crash to the walls but i don't have breakes to do that which makes it IMPOSSIBLE to get three or four stars. if I receive this update, I'm willing to pay at least $3 bucks for it, but it's got to be perfect. please add more options to the controls. I hope someone is reading and listening. I DEFINITELY recomment people to try this game beccause it 's worth the download.

4.5 stars really. I love racing games. And I love racing games that involve destroying things. This is such a fun and entertaining racing game. Worth the dollar. The graphics are good, can't complain. The levels could be a bit longer and it would be awesome if there were vehicle options or weapon additions to the car. But other than that I'm enjoying blowing up cop cars.

I love this game. I am waiting for new levels, even though there are many already, I hope y'all make some more. I also think it would be cool if people could customize their car.

PS. There is a review farther down the page that says not good for little kids, it's not inappropriate at all, but why would you get a little kid a game called reckless getaway.

This is really fun I would recommend this to anyone unless your wack you'll like this game( for the people the made this game good job but it would be REALLY COOL if you add a mode where you can pick your own car and try to live as long as you can also it would be really GREAT if you add a mode where your the cop and you have to try to get the robber that would be just great!)

Great game, loads of time killing fun BUT alot of that is in having to replay the level because power ups or coins come out of NOWHERE and you gotta restart level to go back and get power ups/stars...maybe a small compass map at top of screen (iPhone maybe too small for that) or a little hint bar that pops up and says HEY, THERE'S SOME COOL STUFF TO THE LEFT...MOVE LEFT IF YOU WANT TO BE COOL!!!!!!! Still a fun game that's got some difficulty and loads of replay value, unlike so many games that you beat in 20 min wondering why God, why did I buy that!!!! Anywho, thanks for a very cool game, kept my brain and A.D.D. occupied as I recovered from surgery!

Great game worth the money, but needs variety, maybe a selection of different cars, levels of difficulty, cop mode would be really fun as well.

But other than what I WOULD want.. the game is very well made, fun and can be difficult to get all the stars in some cases and thats what has me coming back to play it.

This game is enjoyable for spending a few minutes or even a few hours when you have some time to kill. It kind of reminds me that old arcade game APB that was a hit back the late 80's. It isn't too complex though I wish there was an option to allow you to steer by using the iPad as a wheel. In any case, no regrets from me. You'll really love the stage where you commandeer a massive bank truck and go on a wrecking spree.

Thing over and over. What will really help is I there was a survival mode to see how long you can go without wrecking and cop numbers are gaining. This will help people like the game more so they can compare with friends. Overall great game!

One thing that keeps surprising and delighting me is actually the sound and music design!

It adds immensely to the overall feel with the genre-perfect heist tunes and you get some really detailed effects from your wheels sliding across ice and dirt, to scraping crushing metal shrieks as you grind a hapless motorist against the dividing barrier.

Truly excellent attention to every detail and all in service of FUN GAMEPLAY!!

There is just one tiny bit of critical feedback: I find that visual feedback when collecting a power up is not a clear as I'd like.

The number of times I've executed a perfectly-timed jump over an oncoming semi, only to send out a useless shock-wave and get myself Wrecked... Or boost when I was expecting to jump and so on and on...

Just about the best app in the app store a little pricey when i bought it at $2.99 for the lack of variety. When I first got it, it had 1 game mode that was pretty difficult but now the reckless mode is fun and great which evened it to about worth $1.99 but still I think that it should have more game modes like survival and mini games. The gameplay is top notch and great graphics but if you are going to be serious about this game you need the button controls. Overall this game should be worth $1.99 and if it had mini games and a survival mode it would be worth $2.99.

This is one of the best mobile titles I have ever played. Controls are different than "reckless racing" which is another title this company makes. Both of these are action games which are fun enough to compete with console or PC style games. Sound is AAA, effects are AAA, gameplay is AAA, polish is AAA, physics are AAA and so is the performance on 4th generation Apple devices or iPads. If you like action games this one will not be disappointing.

This is by far one of the best games I have ever played on iPad in terms of overall fun as well as addictiveness. Physics might not be as realistic, but destroying every single thing in your way is fabulous fun.

You may get through the levels quite quickly, but getting four stars on each levels is almost impossible and will hold you for months.

The thing that makes this game so particularly amazing is that if it came out with the gameplay it has with it's basic dynamics let's say around the time of Donkey Kong or thereabouts it would be in the pantheon of great arcade games. It is always the gameplay that is the hardest thing to make great and there is no way to fake it or dress it up - it is always what separates the greats from the wannabes. Now, add to that the developers who did Reckless Racing and you have great controls and fun engaging visuals as well; the whole package. But as great and imaginative as the different scenes are and the realism that comes with it, it all comes back to the gameplay. Reckless Getaway will prove to be a classic. And the difficulty levels as far as accomplishing things seems almost perfect which is another thing great games have in common. More levels and more vehicles is not a criticism but a desire - when something is so good you always want more.

This is the first time I'll rate an app. I just have to share this joy inside me. =D This game is great. Awesome graphics and gameplay. And did I forgot to mention that its FREE!!! 5 STARS for that!

And for my request can you please add a mode like an "Endless Mode" where I could just drive and hit cars as much as I want as the police try to arrest me. That would complete this game!!!! Thank You!

It's a very fun game but needs a few improvements. The lag is the biggest problem. Please fix that! If there were a different type of scoring system where you don't have to memorize the perfect route to get all 4 stars then it would be much better. Also if you added to the options a way to change the camera view so you could see the car crashes behind you that would be cool. Also maybe add a 'shop' where you could buy different cars. They don't necessarily need to be better in stats or whatever but just different colors and looks. But please don't ruin the app by adding things you can buy with real life money! Other than those few concerns you guys did great.

The coins and  marks are almost impossible to get, unless you just happen to stumble on them. There isn't enough time to see them, and when you do, the cars are so slow that you can't veer quickly over to snatch them up.

What in the world DO the do, anyway?

It's ok, but it has a weird glitch: my car "floated" over an overpass, when it was supposed to go under it.

Also, it seems to float around at times. It's still fun occasionally, but if you like police chases, go for Need for Speed- Hot Pursuit. It's more realistic and smoother.



Like KamikazeRace and LaneSplitter but with more action.

All these fake reviews turn me off though, especially when an app such as this could make it to the top on its own merit. The integrity of the DEVS, then, convince me that I can expect my low score to quickly be followed by several fivers so to bury my review and keep the overall score five stars.

This Is an awesome game for free. It combines my favorite elements of need for speed and grand theft auto into a easy to play iPhone app. My only complaint is the button graphics and fonts and pretty much all graphic that don't have to actually do with gameplay look pretty cheap. For example the gradient on te pause button. But that's a minor complaint and overall this game is sick.

Amazing game. Great controls. Beautiful levels with great scenery changes. I downloaded this not expecting much and now I've spent my whole day playing. Would love to see an option for both turn buttons to be one one side for playing one handed. And graphics are great but retina would make it even better. Thanks

It's hard to play if you are trying to get 4 stars on each level, yet easy and entertaining if you're just looking to have fun. My 4 year old plays with glee because he doesn't have to understand the goal of the game, while I play with glee because I love the strategic maneuvering required to get a high score.

The power-ups are AWESOME (jumping car, radial blast, super speed) and the destruction of all the cars on the road is primally satisfying. There are cliffs you can drive other cars on the road off of, trains you can slam them into, and the cops are faster than you are, but they have a Keystone quality to them that allows you to dupe them into horrific collisions that produce a very satisfying explosion.

The new SMASH EVERYTHING mode is a fine improvement to this already near-perfect app. It's all levels of the original game, but now you're in a big, green diesel truck, there are no stars to collect, and the only power up is the radial blast. The entire point of this game mode is to gather as many points as possible by smashing, crashing, jumping, destroying everything on the screen.

This game will be replacing Angry Birds as my go to app when I need to kill some time. And luckily it lets you choose between on-screen and tilt for controlling your car so if you're on a packed bus and need to be a little subtle with your gameplay, you can. But if you're home with the kids, the tilt control is a lot of fun.

I bought this game based on Pixelbite's spectacular "Reckless Racing" which in my opinion, is the best game for the iPad next to "Dead Space". With the bar set so high, it wouldn't be fair to compare "Getaway" to "Racing". Let's just say, both are great games based on their own. P.S. Just like "Racing", "Getaway" requires some tweaking of the controls. Experiment and use what works best for you. Once you get used to it, you'll have a blast.

i LOVED reckless racing. but reckless getaway leaves me wanting.

don't get me wrong, the controls, car handling/physics are equally second to none as are the graphics. and it being a universal app is commandable.

but either the car is too fast and/or far too easily wrecked... or it's just the style of the gameplay that makes my face fall asleep. where reckless racing had far too few tracks, getaway has far too many. i've had enough after about 5-7 tracks...

I beat this game in a day. I know, I did play it for a while, but now what????? I agree with brownskittle77. It needs an extra mode(s) that allow endless gaming experience. I would like to see many more levels, unlockable vehicles, and/or free roam mode. This would be a virtual city with cars, and police roaming around. Then, we come in, and take out everything in sight. I have been showing my friends, but they herd how quickly i beat it, and don't want it. Add these things (preferably the free roam) or else I will steadily decrease my rating of 5 stars until it reaches 1. Its a great game, just way too small.

Out of all the ipad games I have, I think this one has the legs to last as long as the machine does. You know how it is...you see Q-bert and you're like, "Oh hell yeah, I could spend a few bucks on Q-bert." and then two months later and you're already in yawnsville. Fast getaway is a ball, plain and simple, and simple too. It's even perfect for my six year old daughter, easy enough to play that she can drive around and crash into stuff. For me, it's all about collecting coins and taking the big jumps.

Good cartooning, really creative tracks. Five stars.

Oh, and the constant stream of greenbacks flying out of the car is hilarious. No wonder the cops seem to always know where I am.

I'm not a heavy hitter gamer - I just like something fun that I can play when I want a break from work. I am always on the lookout for good driving games, and this is the best I've found so far. It's very quick to pick up and play, easy to use, and the graphics are incredible. The physics is perfect with superb vehicle response and obstacle/other vehicle interactions. This is not a serious game, which is what makes it that much more fun for me. This game hits three major markers that any really successful game should have - 1) you can pick it up, play for a few minutes, then put it down without any sense of loss or failure - it should just be a quick bit of fun, 2) it has an element of challenge without being so difficult it become frustrating, and 3) it has replay value. The third one is extremely important in the games industry because you want players coming back the game and not just giving up after a few plays because they're bored or they can't progress.

I absolutely love this game, and as a developer myself, this is the kind of game I wish I had built!

This game is great and very addicting. I played through until I got all the stars on every level so I was excited to see an update that said it added a game mode. Even after rebooting my iPad multiple times the update just crashes on load. I hope there is a fix soon. Still 5 stars because I got a lot of good play time, but please fix the update.

Tons of explosions packed full of action, this game never gets old. If your a fan of arcade racing games or like getting in fast paced police chases like grand theft auto, then you will love this game. I beat this game on my iPad and the iPhone, I still play it everyday, honestly it never gets old! Would love more levels, can't wait for an update or the next game.

Got this one a few days ago and just keep playing it...it's enough to keep you playing more than you may want,as it will eat your time up quickly!It isn't so hard you can't play it but it isn't easy either.I would rate this in my top three games of all time and I play lots of them:)

Great graphics, well balanced controls and just difficult to make it challenging without sucking the fun out of it. It took a couple of tries to figure out the controls and then it became second nature. With the power ups and multiple paths down a track, hours of fun can be had with this game. The only thing that could make this better would be more vehicles and more tracks. But that's not a bad thing to want from a game.

I am pleasantly surprised by this game. I was unsure of buying it at the beginning especially at a 3 dollar price but I have enjoyed it a lot since getting it! The controls are great and perfectly balanced and the graphics and physics are great too! If you are even considering purchasing this I think you should take the chance. I did and it was worth it.

This game is fun and is a good time killer. But, all you do is drive. There should definitely be upgrades and more levels. There should also be free play, which never ends. Although the graphics are nice, and it runs smooth on my iPad 2, the price could be bumped down to at least $0.99.

I only got this app because I watched SoldierKnowsBest's review on it (although my brother also wanted the game) and after all, he DOES "Know Best!" But, not entirely this time, Soldier.

So those are my reasons why this app got 4/5 stars.

I'm no expert... But given 4-5 hours I can beat a few levels f a am like this. Polarbit has taken the lazy route and made it extremely hard to advance to see even all the LAUNCH content. Shame. Think Angry Birds would be so huge if you could never get passed level x-y?

Reckless Racing and now this have proven you are not willing to really work to sustain my support. So you can enjoy this 2 star rating until I can get some 3 star ratings without divine intervention on your darn game.

You reap what you sow, cheapskates.

At first, I didn't know if I really wanted the game and figured I would just way until the price went down to get it. But eventually I gave in to my curiosity and bought one of my new favorite games. I LOVE IT. Very simple, challenging, and a cute story line. Great graphics and animations, and sound effects are far from being bad. I became so obsessed that I played it for hours until I now have a record of 68/68 stars earned. My only suggestion now is PLEASE ADD MORE LEVELS!!! Thanks.

Let me start by saying this is a really well done game with great gameplay and decent control. This is like a really modern slot car game in a way...

However... simply put, it's too hard to advance. I'm not saying it should be extremely easy, but rather than requiring peak performance to advance levels, I think it would be a lot better if one could advance to new levels easier, but higher scores earned upgrades such as opening "side routes", reverse routes, powerups, and new vehicles or weapons.

Also could really use some different race types.

That said, if these guys make more racing games with these physics and controls, they are going to be one of my go-to places to read about what's next. Really looking forward to more!

Beautiful graphics on the Retina display; nearly as good on the iPad. This game has occupied me for hours. Simple controls allow you to move left and right along your getaway route with the cops in tow. Score points by smashing cars (cops and anyone else on the road) and obstacles. Collect coins to increase your score, and look for power-ups that allow you to do more damage.

I've been re-playing runs to get maximum four stars, and to beat high scores on Game Center. Very addictive!

Solid game controls. Wish there was a break control as I sometimes tapped above the right turn button to try and slow down in some areas hoping to avoid wrecks. Game makes you work hard to unlock levels which ends up with you playing the same lower levels over and over again until you get the needed number of stars.

A great game marred by poor controls and cartoony, inaccurate physics. If the developer can smooth out the controls and make the physics a little more realistic this otherwise very entertaining game would easily rate 5 stars and be worth the money.

There are several physics related issues (i.e.: you can drive through or under other vehicles. These need addressing.

Quality is great, gameplay is great as well. Personally I find this game hard to beat. I always go for four stars. I've read in other reviews that it is repetitive. It's about as repetitive as any other game. There's a set of rules, goals, rewards, and limitations that are well balanced if not challenging. All in all it's fun. I also like angry birds and tower defense - so you can get an idea of where I'm coming from.

Great game. Really enjoyed it. Two gripes: 1- it becomes pretty difficult to unlock all the levels (at least for me.). So I probably won't continue to play it because it gets frustrating playing the same levels over and over. 2 - while the controls are very good and very smooth, sometimes the left or right turn flakes out and seems to get stuck on me which usually ends up in a crash. I would love this game if they fixed that glitch and allow you to progress more easily.
