Pretty much worthless until updated

Clunky UX

hard to navigate between workbook tabs, hard to select tool tips, pressed back too many times and got signed out mid workflow, even though I didn't tap anything that said sign out. When I sign back in I have to remember the site URL, of which we have multiple.

Missing minor things... otherwise great

The app is great, it I think developers should take a fresh look at some minor things.
First and foremost is the fact that the views are NOT defaulted to "workbooks". Because the default it views, users and especially new users are quickly confused at what is going on! This should not be underestimated!
Also, I wish you would bring the concept of projects to the iPad. It is also hidden in the filters function and all we get by default is "favorites", "recent", and "all".
I think those small tweaks would make the app a lot less troublesome for users to consume!
Please consider these changes!!!

Repeated logins and can't scroll

The app is promising but right now it is such a pain to have to re-authenticate each time you use the app (using Okta). Also, once you do get in scrolling through tables is a nightmare since it jumps between scrolling the table vs the overall page.
Fixing those two things would make a world of difference.

Bug connecting to our server

App seems good in theory, but it errors every time I try to load a view that's on our Tableau server. Previous version for iPad worked fine but now that's having issues too.

👍🏿on iPhone: Great Concept!

Not perfect, yet, but has potential. Much better functionality compared to viz. subscription only.
Cons: Will require Viz. , dashboard redesign to optimize performance and form fit on iPhone.
You will Need Several layers of security in a corporate environment, i.e. MDM, VPN. (Previous Login bug I experienced has been resolved).

Mixed

Although it's nice to see iPhone support its not very useful unless you're designing workbooks specifically for iPhone.
Normal desktop dashboards don't really work on this. It keeps the sizing of the legends and quickfilters at normal size. So you have 90% of your screen as a quickfilter box and can't see any data

Love it but found a bug

I love the mobility of Tableau on the run, especially easy access to dashboards on my iPad in meetings. Nice improvements in how the dashboard workbooks are organized and accessed. Also, much faster processing speed! However, there seems to be a bug in that drill-downs are not working. The '+' sign doesn't show up. Can this be fixed please?

The app doesn't work

Although tableau works on the browser. While using the app, it acknowledges the url, but on using the login credentials it displays a message that it's unable to connect to the server.

Unstable, Can't Scroll, Terrible

This is really unfortunate, but the app is getting worse.
You can't even scroll on a report. It would be really nice to use fingerprint authentication, but the developers seem to be removing features. It also crashes constantly.
You are much better off with a browser, at least Safari or Chrome can scroll and memorize a password for easy access.

Please fix - cannot access Tableau server. Error message is "Tableau cannot reach the server."
This is strange because I can open up Safari and connect without issue on the browser.

Annoying to constantly have to enter passwords

As this is a personal device we should be able to remember passwords at the very least rather than having to enter them each time. This poor practice encourages people to use weak passwords.
Ideally it should be integrated to TouchID or 1Password.
Shame as it's quite a decent product.

Very limited use

You need to have access to Tableau server, I downloaded this thinking it would be like any pdf reader. As powerful as the software (desktop) is I find it extremely limited that you cannot open/share a book you have created outside of your laptop. For all its very smart use of technology to create data visualization their concept of how that data is later shared is circa 1980 more than 2020

Sadly, Not Useful to Me

I enjoy using the Windows desktop version of Tableau Public and thought this might be the same. Given that this app runs on iPad I figured I could connect to a data sheet I saved in Google Docs or SkyDrive, but alas that is not the case. This app is just a remote access agent to a Tableau Enterprise Server. If you don't have that, then this app serves no purpose.

Only server version - booing.

Only supports their incredibly expensive server version. We paid and license the desktop version and only a hand full of us need to get reports, but we can't in the field because you can't open the files on an iPad. Boo.

Good for the most part

If the workbook you are using loads fast then it works fine. However, if the filters take a few seconds to load and the user tries to make a selection again it will throw an error.
Not a good app for impatient users.

Constant crashes make this app useless

App crashes constantly, update to new version 9 is equally buggy. The login fails sometimes and one needs to delete app and reinstall to fix issue.

Almost there.

I am a daily user of this tableau iOS app and have few things to say about it. This app is like a support feature for the server users who need to access their workbooks over the air frequently. Without the server license, this app doesn’t do any good except playing with the samples. However, there are also good things that server users will benefit from this app.
1)The new mobile authoring feature that enables the user to edit the workbook within the app is the killer feature that everyone was waiting.
2)Downloading the view by image, PDF, data or crosstab and sharing the view by either email or embedded works great.
3)The rendering speed has improved from 9 seconds to 5 seconds the view with over 10,000 rows of data.
Unfortunately, the app still does not support the offline with the twb or twbx files and mobile authoring does not allow editing the dashboard. Adding these two features will complete this app.

No outside files

Why can't I open workbook files from an email or Dropbox like with the desktop reader client? That is silly and severely limits the usefulness of this app.

Nice start still a fragmented experience

This bi app seems to be slowly maturing, but still has a ways to go. The visualizations are nice and gestures fairly intuitive.
My largest complaint from previous versions still remains though. When you click on some places in the app it redirects you out to the browser. This creates a very fragmented user experience. At the very least you'd think this could be an in-app browser window. Also the design environment offers very limited capabilities around custom design.

Beauty is skin deep

The demos are gorgeous, however you're basically just browsing someone else's creation. Really doesn't have much ability to change things, slice and dice beyond what the developer had in mind.

Touch dashboard without any extra work!

I am amazed! I just gave my boss the same dashboard on his iPad that he was using on a browser before and I didn't have to change or do anything - it just worked! Typical Tableau...
The iPad 2 users have better performance than my users with with ones but seems true with everything...

Long way to go...

I am a Tableau desktop user. I was hoping that this app would justify my company's investment in Tableau Server, but I am thus far unimpressed. As far as the UI is concerned, they have done a pretty good job. Two things, however, killed it for me.
1) They go to all the trouble of allowing me to select and view a set of data, but don't allow me to share it with anyone. An email feature, or an export to Dropbox, Numbers, Pages, etc would be excellent. I need to be able to collaborate.
2) Prohibitively slow. I (and many of the execs and sales reps in my company) are running iPad 1s (maybe the 2 is better?), and the visualizations all take a VERY long time to load, and an even longer time to filter, manipulate, etc. If I don't have the patience for the data to load, I know for a fact that other users in my company won't.
While I still think this has great potential, I'll be waiting to see improvements in the next iteration. I have faith that the Tableau team can deliver, but this is not it.

Worth the wait - mobile BI is here!

I have been awaiting the Tableau platform to ready itself onto the mobile platform for quite some time ... This was worth the wait. As expected, I was connected to Tableau Server within seconds and not viewing ... But interacting with my Web Analytics, email, social media, and other online data (exported by MashableMetrics).
Again, great job Tableau team!
