The app has a notorious bug!

Every recent version of this app has had a consistent, notorious bug that remains unresolved in every update: You open one story, read it, open that story's "Comments" section, write and post one, and then somehow your comment gets removed from the story you meant to write about and posted to some new story that wasn't even up when you opened the original one.

Freezes too much

Too many pop-up ads

This could be a good app, except every time I read a news story, there's a pop-up that says "congratulations, you've won...." The only way to clear it is to close the app all together. Not worth the constant annoyance...deleting this app. I'll get my news elsewhere.

Photo Quit

I downloaded this app simply to get high quality pictures taken of me at a concert... and every time I clicked on a photo to try to save it, the app quit. Useless for the one purpose I needed it for, I'm disappointed.

Caveat Emptor

The content is great. The app has difficulty loading articles. The app also takes up almost 2 GB of storage. My suggestion is to bookmark Masslive.com and use the much-nicer mobile web version.

Needs work

A lot of their content doesn't display properly. It needs work but I gave it two stars because they don't flood you with useless advertisements to watch their tv news network, like their sister site does.

It's on point

I watch the news on my phone because by the time I get home it's late. For the most part it keeps me on the loop of how things are in western mass. Plus tells me good stories and some not so great. It is precise in telling me about my neighborhood and what is going on.

Found more accurate and up to date news in my BookFace feed.
When there is no local news, app is fluffed with irrelevant reports.
Watching a 1 min add before a 1 1/2 min news clip is pointless and just serves as a revenue stream for Advance Media, the group that MassLive is a part of.

Springfield Falcons not listed

How can the springfield falcons not be listed in the sports section..... It's our local pro hockey team and they get completely ignored and left out of this app when masslive is supposed to be a big sponsor. I have deleted the app until they support the team better and give them a link in the sports section of this app.

Won't open at all

Terrible

The old version was exponentially better. Awful layout difficult to navigate not well organized at all way too many ads and photos.
I used to use this app everyday now I don't use it at all. I'd give it 0 stars if the App Store would let me. Way to ruin a great app.

A giant step backwards

Did anyone actually use this before releasing GA?
On iPad it only works on the vertical plain. Hard to navigate and slow. I wanted to like it but after several attempts dumped it. Deleted the app.

Horrible update

What was a decent and useful app is now frustrating beyond words. Did anyone actually try using this updated version before launching it? Navigation is slow and counterintuitive, and information isn't up to date or is non-existent.

Bad update -- no more local town news

The recent update has somehow made local town news inaccessible. Message keeps reading "there are no stories to show".

New ads are awful, no sound for videos

I love having access to local news, but I can't stand the ads. They used to just be on the bottom of the screen, but now they pop up to full screen randomly. Perhaps I'm just accidentally touching the small ad, but it's never before happened to me in the past year.
Also, I've never been able to get the sound to work for the videos.

Terrible App

Despite a lot of terrible reviews I decided to give this app a try and I will have to agree with all of them. Masslive should be embarrassed to put out an app like this. Navigation is awful, it freezes up constantly, and half the time the menu buttons disappear giving you no option but to shut it out and restart. Searching jobs is a joke, I live in western mass and searched for jobs within 5 miles of my house and got jobs in Ohio and Pennsylvania! I won't even look at this app again until they push out an update.

I like it

I look at masslive for the news. It froze up but just for a few seconds. I was able to find the back button that people could not find previously. Maybe I downloaded this app after they fixed the problem. The ad does get in the way sometimes. But this is a free app so i expected this And it does just what I want it to do and that's to read the news. So good app overall!

Needs improvement

The app is great but when looking thought the job section or any other sections the back button to get to the list of objects is annoying. I then have to redo my search and find where I was. This is very annoying please fix the problem.

Job Search

Ads get in the way. You can not search page by page without calling All State. The search tools need work. You cannot search in general without going to specific categories.

Used to work but not now

This app worked fine until a few days ago. Now it freezes up after you read one story and you can't do anything but delete the app and reload. I hope they fix it soon as it worked great for the first 6 months I had it.

Like another person stated..once I click and read a news story I cannot get back to main page..back button doesn't work..it doesn't bring you back to main story page..app crashes also..how and why was this released? I know it's free but shouldn't an update improve an app?
