Terribly bias news app
Bias news app. There was s time not long ago when reporters reported facts and not opinion. The Who, What, Where, When, How that had been the basis of journalists with integrity have given way to opinion pundits masquerading as journalists and no place is this more evident than in the "news" on this App. Don't waste your time.

It used to take awhile for the App to load new stories and sometimes the individual stories wouldn't load, but it's better now. Keep it up.

Article followup
I read the website daily. Like a story in a novel i find followup articles that fill in the missing pieces of the story as the facts get more numerous and elucidated for us. I like these followups. The murder of the Stern girl and all the subsequent stories are an example of this.

This is s good app. Gets a 5 for usefulness. Speed had greatly improved and no longer goes black during importing of article. I check it most every day.

The app has been among the worst I have ever used, however it's getting better. Still loads blank black pages and video doesn't fill screen on my iPhone, but it is getting more usable and more stable. but still has a ways to go. keep pluggin away at it.

Great App
The application works great. It's my go to app when I want to read about what's going on in NJ. I love the alert function. It allows me to stay on top of what's going on around me. I sometimes hear about a story and I am able to go to the app to get the full story. I love the fact I can search by county. Give it a try!

What's with the forced open of ads from the App Store?
First let me say that I like this app and find it convenient for stories about NJ. However, beginning this week the app started switching me over to the App Store asking me to buy random games. Is this supposed to do this or is there some serious bug? I don't mind seeing a few ads but hijacking my phone is a non-starter. If the problem isn't fixed soon I'm deleting the app.
Yes, the ad problem is better, but it has been replaced by a new problem. Now, whenever I click on a photo the app crashes. Come on guys, building a simple news app should not be that difficult!

Photo errors
The app had been working fine but just noticed that whenever I tap on a photo to enlarge it, the app shuts down. I've tried this several times, each in a different article, and the same error occurs.
I tried to contact the developer to let them know, but there are no links to email
them so I had to state the issue in this post.

This is a great app. I use it at least 10 times a day. It gives you all the info and photos you need in order to get the full story. I highly recommend this app..

Awesome App
This app keeps you up to date at all times and the interface is easy to use and I love the fact that they have each county categorized and they highlight big stories within various counties.

Much more responsive than previous versions and the quality of writing has improved. Still hard to find specific stories, but all in all very useful.

Great! Thanks for fixing the ad issue
This app had a horrible issue with forcing you to the App Store to download games. After a month of trying it nearly everyday I was ready to give up and delete this app I had once loved. Something told me to try the app one last time and all the errors seem fixed! Thank you so much! This is a great app!

Love it but few bugs
Love the setup, but needs bug fixes. Crashes at times and makes me re-sign in every time i go to a different story and want to comment. Otherwise o really like the local info. Last thing, better screening of stories. Im here for news, not for pop culture princess stories

I HATE THE ADS
I like the app but they started this new thing where they automatically redirect you to the App Store for a specific app they are advertising. It's frustrating because it 1) is jarring 2) annoying 3) they won't stop - at all. When I pop back to the article it just shoves back to the App Store for a different app. I'm about ready to trash this app soon. I'll find my news somewhere else.

They got too greedy for me.
After the last update the advertising is out of control. You can't read two lines in an article without it pushing you over to the apps page to get it to download something. I'm hoping there's something wrong with my phone, although I've deleted and reinstalled the app and they still did the same thing, pop ups every couple seconds.

Nice but need some fix
It's good app but when I go in one of article and keep jump into Apple Store from ads which I didn't click anything. I will say 5 times jump into Apple Store in less than 15 seconds then app crash. That's annoying. Please fix it.

Was a great app
This was a great app that I used often. Just recently it has become almost unusable. I can't get halfway through an article without a forced ad popping up, sometimes 3 or 4 times before I am able to finish the article. It also keeps switching me over to the App Store. Very very annoying. I hope they fix this or I will delete it.

Was ok, now almost unusable
The apps been just ok up until about a week ago. Halfway thru reading an article a video ad will pop up, close it down & a minute later the same video comes back. When that stops, without clicking on anything, the app store opens to a game it wants me to download and the only way to make it stop is to restart the app. Pretty much makes the app worthless now

Ads are better, app is better
The last time I reviewed this, I complained about the underpowered ad server making the app almost unusable. It’s much better now, but the lag is still noticeable, which probably means that a fairly small increase in the number of users will make it hit the knee of the curve again. I hope it’s watched closely, so it doesn’t reach another crisis.
Other than that, I have the common complaints—irrelevant pictures, mostly. I’m also not sure what the use is of the separate “Home” and “News Home” sections.
But I’m glad to see the improvements, and I’d recommend this app to anyone who wants to follow New Jersey news.

App is good. Writing Could Use Work
The app is great and it's easy to look up stories/events and back-track through all the stories on the subject.
The writing could be better and the lack of proofreading before posting is horrible. There is rarely a posting that doesn't have at least a few typo's or outright misspelled words. I actually use a lot of the article to teach my son the value of proofreading work.

Photos of who knows?
Everything about NJN is great except the photos pertaining to the article I want to read.
I click on a article about a car accident let's say, and the cover photo is correct but all subsequent photos are of people on the beach? What's up with that?
25 photos total, but only one pertaining to the actual story. Please fix that.

Needs some fixes...
The ads are annoying. Some even cause the content to stop working, which is unacceptable. Also, when zooming in on pictures, it only zooms in on the top left corner of the frame, removing the picture from view entirely.

Use it all the time but TERRIBLE!
I couldn't figure out why the memory on my iPhone kept filling up. Turns out it was this app. Who knew the multiple pointless photos that have nothing to do with the article I was reading was not only annoying but also gobbling up my memory. I cleared 5GB of space on my phone by deleting this app. You really should add a way to clear the cache on this app. I honestly use this app every day. It's a great resource for keeping up with local NJ news, but if you want to compete you're going to need to do better than this. Just get rid of he photos that make no sense and stop killing my memory and you're half way there.

Not a great experience.
Good news stories, but it is frustrating to read them. Reading an article for about 3 seconds gets interrupted by a pop up for unrelated advertising. Searching for a job gives a banner on the bottom of the page covering the "next" button. Going back to the job search forces you to re-renter search criteria again. This app needs work.

Issue with Cache size
The app works reasonably well even if the pics don't seem to correlate to the article. But the big problem is that the case never empties. The app takes a huge amount of space and does not stop growing. I'm tired of having to delete it every few weeks and then restore it. If it isn't fixed I will just start using the web site.

Needs work
To echo others, many pictures don't match the story, etc. The biggest issue with this app though is that it does not empty it's cache nor is there a way to do so, therefore after a few months it's taking up over 1gb of space.
I like using this to read on the iPad because the website isn't always the easiest to navigate, so with a few small fixes this app would be great.

Won't Open After Last Update!!
I used to love this app, I could get all my local important news in one place. However, since the latest "update," this app won't open on my iPhone or iPod Touch. It's completely useless now and the website through safari takes too long to load. Very disappointing. I ended up deleting the app because all it's doing is taking up space.

No longer useful with older iOS version!
I should never have allowed the latest update to take place as now I have this app that is taking up space and just crashes without ever seeing any news. Used to be a very informative app for nj news now it serves no purpose if all it does is not even open up. Please fix and allow older versions of iOS to use again.

Nice app, but difficult to share stories with friends. There is no share through text message option -- only social media & email. This should be changed immediately. Also so many ads you can't view the story majority of the time!

Worst update in the world
This recent "update" is the worst thing to ever happen. The navigation and readability is now horrible. I used to use the old app 3-4 times a day and read all NJ news. Now, I honestly don't read anything because I can't be bothered with this app. Please offer a way to use the old version as I'm sure 100% of your viewers would chose to rollback to the previous version. Don't fix what ain't broke... And make it a broke POS! Bring back the feature to text stories too.

Abandon users
The developers of this app are clueless about customer retention. I can understand wanting to release upgrades, but this upgrade requires iOS 6.0 and in the process made the legacy app unusable. All I get on my old iPad is a message that I must upgrade. No more content.
I will now be uninstalling on all my devices as I won't use my phone to read news.

Latest update is an EPIC FAIL
Sadly will no longer be sharing links/stories from your Apple/iTunes app on fb.
Now when you share a story, it puts the photo into your personal fb photo albums with a link. Who wants this? Not me!
You can't click the pic from fb & go directly to the article.
You no longer can copy the URL to the story from the iTunes app either.
And lastly, the email feature to share doesn't actually send an email.

Zero stars for update!
Previous version worked well. It was easy to navigate, pics could be viewed in landscape and news content just seemed more plentiful. Good headlines make an article attractive. Slow loading huge pictures with headlines just frustrate! ( I know they can be made smaller.). Please fix this. I don't know if I can live without my daily fix of Hudson County news. Oh wait, maybe deleting the app will make life more enjoyable!

HORRIBLE
Who the heck signed off on the latest update? It was a poor app before, now it is downright unusable! You open it and see 2 articles to choose from. You have to scroll down forever before you find an article you want to read rather than seeing a number if articles at once. Truly horrible app, couldn't be less user friendly. Who's in charge over there??

Yikes!
I'm not sure what the goal in this revision was other than to make the ads more prominent. The mix of navigation modes is confusing and distracting. There are two sections of untitled horizontal swipe followed by a long section of vertical scrolling. I don't understand the value of this new model at all. While the old app appeared dated, the navigation model was consistent. Perhaps a look at other apps such as Flipboard, Facebook, or even the CNN iOS app would provide a better model for good user experience engineering. Thanks for getting more graphical, and I support making the ads more visible. That said please consider handing this app to new users and watch them as they navigate it. A fresh run at this would be very much appreciated.

Crashed
The app worked before I updated to the latest. First it said there wasn't a Wi-Fi connection available, which there was, and crashed. Since then when starting up I get an internal error message and the app crashes. I select okay to try to bypass the message and it continues to reappear. the App not started all. Anybody with an idea?

Latest update works
The October 28 update now runs in iOS 7.0.3. I'd still like to see an option in high school sports to view scores and other info by county or conference like in the print edition because I usually don't know what group and section the local teams are in. At least local news is by county.

Useful app, few things
This is a good app for any ny sports fans or people living in that area who want news. But it doesn't allow you to comment on articles which is a bit of a con. Because for the sports articles, people "make a career" out of writing comments. Good app though.

Needs more local updates
Disappointed that at least twice a week my local papers page does not update with the latest stories. I read yesterday's news now I want today's news but nothing is there. Every other paper is updated for today except for the Gloucester County Times!!!

Disappointed
There is a back button in the Job search but it doesn't work! Meaning you need to go to the main menu and type in all of your information to get the page up again once you open a single page. Until that's fixed it's useless. This is the first review I've ever given. That's how terrible this application is.

Appreciate having the news handy on my device, but this app doesn't always stay up to date with current events & the dates are out of sync. Although I would love to rate this higher & would benefit from keeping this app, unless this issue is fixed I won't be able to give the app a higher rating, nor will I keep it occupying space on my device.
