My favorite game
It's my 'go to' way to pass the time. Would like my partner to play with more skill. Also would like to be able to pass two cards with a Blind Nil bid.

Nil defect
One should be able to pass two cards when going Blind Nil, like in the Free Version.
No endorsement of the Free Version because of the insidious adds that activate without prompting.
Nearly 6 months later and the passing when Blind Nil still does not work.
This is the only app that seems to bring up bogus Walmart and free phone messages unprompted.

I appreciate the complexity it took to put this ap together. It was well done. Things that should be corrected -
1. Ability to change partner name and sex
2. Partner ability to play blind nill - when a bet of 0 or 00 is made the partner must always play high. Currently this is not programed into the partner. Example - partner wins hand then follows up with a Duce of spades
3. Blind 6 or Blind 7 with the ability to swap the lowest two cards for the highest two cards
4. To bid 10 for 200 points, and a BOSTON
5. Friends with same app having the ability to play friend!

I agree with most of the reviews I've read. My partner is a poor player. Also, I will NOT believe the hands are dealt randomly. It would take too long to explain, but surely, I'm not the only one who believes this. After having said that, I really like the game.

Too many glitches!!
Loved the free version, but hated the ads always popping up and making me have to reload my game. Spent the money to upgrade to the ad free game and it is very disappointing!! It took away the ability to pass two cards on blind nil. It also gives me the highest cards when I bid blind nil which makes it impossible to not take a trick! It's useless!! Also Megan is not the same player that she was in the free version!! She plays like she doesn't have a partner! The pro version is also slower than the free version. When you pay to upgrade aren't you supposed to get a better version? I am very disappointed in this game. I keep going back to play the free version because it is much more fun! Please fix this!!

Something happened to it
I would have rated this a 4 ... with the only holding it back from 5 the bonehead plays that my partner makes which I cannot fathom. But then something happened. The app suddenly restarts in the middle of a game ... loses the settings that have been saved ... etc. I could have stayed with the free version and tolerated the ads to play without these issues. Can't believe that I paid to get something worse.

Miss more than hit
So if all AI players were equal, I would rate this 4 stars. If there was multiplayer, I would rate it 3. I only win in spite of the AI partner. The partner is not just mediocre, it's been programmed to make illogical choices ( keeping the high card of a suit when the tricks have been covered, playing to win tricks when I bid nil, leading trump when the partner should know I have at most one trump). I will move back to the free version, not because my partner AI plays better, but because the opposition AI plays worse.

Playing in Hard Mode is a crap shoot. Partner is an idiot and the opposing team can read each other's mind. Love the game. Been playing for years. Google your partner Megan, you'll find some colorful rants.

It's AI only, and your Partner is an idiot...
Why does Megan constantly underbid, throw off high suits when she bids 4, she even lets low numbers walk!!
I hate it! I love this app it's simple and easy to play, but your partner really screws everything up.
Please fix Megan. I don't want to throw out a low diamond know she has none and spades haven't been broke yet so I know she has one, and she throws out a 3 of hearts so a friggen 6 walks. I can't communicate with my partner, she doesn't play with any sort of knowledge of the game at all, and she doesn't help me. I hate losing because she knows nothing.

So I deleted this game again, thanks to Megan, who was supposedly fixed in the last patch. She's an idiot. I go nil, who in their right mind would throw a 4 of any suit if your partner goes nil?
Don't download. I need a suicide prevention class thanks to this game.

This is a pleasant game with strong visual design elements and a lot of value for the money. However, I agree with Mr. Nastos' previous review that by eliminating the card pass for Blind Nil, that function is useless, and I end up playing the free, ad-supported version which is otherwise identical along with annoying blinking ads. If I had read his review before purchasing the pro version, I would not have made the purchase. The problems listed in other reviews concerning Megan are all true, but I find that less bothersome and just accept that I am playing with a mediocre partner (which we've all done in real life).

The paid version is awful!!! Most annoying is it is SLOWWWWWWW! And Megan is still stupid. Will just continue to play free version. Waste of $$

Great except for bidding blind nil
Loved the free version, so I paid for the no-ads version. It irks me that there are different rules. On the free version, if you bid blind nil you get to trade 2 cards with your partner. On the pay version, there's no option to trade. So now, although I've paid I mostly just use the free version, because it's a better game. Unless they make them the same, this one isn't worth the money in my opinion.

I love playing spades and this game satisfies. Only two complaints: 1. There should be a more difficult setting. 2. The hard setting becomes hard mostly because your partner makes mistakes. But on the whole, the game play is excellent and the three levels of difficulty are great for beginners and novices.

I liked the Free Sade's well enough that I decided to buy it. Now the Pro Spades won't let you pass 2 Cards on Double Nil. FIX IT. I want to use the game I paid for without using functionality!

Since I've played spades free for years, I thought I owed it to the developers to upgrade to the paid version. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the paid version doesn't allow the blind nil player to trade two cards. Why hasn't the Pro version been upgraded like the free version?

I enjoy the app but agree with others: if our side is winning the trick there's no need to trump my winner, or to trump with a high spade when a smaller one will suffice, especially when playing last!!

I agree with other reviews that Megan is a big problem. She over bids a lot. She will also play a spade when it's unnecessary and will take my trick or play a high spade that doesn't take the hand when she could have gotten rid of junk cards. Then she won't have a spade that is needed for the next hand. When tommy plays an ace, you don't play a king unless it is all you have.

Save your dollar.. Download the 1st spades up that comes up. The AI is much much better and has multiplayer. Megan (your teammate) will drive you to throw your phone on this game.

Great fun, except ....
While this game is fun to play sometimes the computer hands bid and play cards in ways that make no sense at all, almost as if they intentionally over bid and/or throw away a card that might could take a trick in a later hand. Otherwise, it's a fun few minutes of diversion here and there in my crazy days.

I hate Megan!
I'm addicted to the game but I hate Megan! She underbids, plays high cards first & can't make her tricks, plays spades all willy nilly. I want to reach through the phone & choke her. I won't even comment on the other two cheating ladies with guy names. Ugh! However I can't seem to stop playing. I'm sure I will eventually because it's starting to take the fun out of playing. 👎

In general terms it is excellent, however your team player is unreliable, basically it sabotages the game. It does stupid plays, bringing the team down.

Poor programming
Instead of offering an app that is programmed to have the computer players play optimal spades these goof balls thought they were smarter than the game. Your p will play smart, stupid and down right sabotage during the same game . If you play the game long enough you will figure out how to somewhat control your p's play. If she bids 2 ( 90 % of the time) count on her having nothing or 4. If you have high blood pressure or anger management issues you might want to avoid this app.

Great game. Partner goes brain dead frequently,but overall the game is very entertaining and fun to play. Instant spades game, how cool is that? Would rate a 10 if partner was fixed.
Opponents logic pretty steady, again your so called "partner" is completely unreliable and will most likely be the one to set you when going nil.

Since Megan went to spades school, she may have improved in one area, but she has gone BONKERS in another! She is now continually overbidding!! So tired of having to try and cover her bids! Have been winning the game by a large margin but she can't pick up her tricks and we end up losing!! Also! This leading with a king is ridiculous! She will also throw off the highest card for a suit and then not be able to pick up a trick! Also throws off a spade when she doesn't have to! Needs a heck of a lot more school to fix all this!!!

This is a great spades game. Sometimes my partner does not always make the greatest moves. I wish the game could connect to online players but so far this is the best computer player spades game I have found. The paid version is recommended so that you won't have to deal with the ads

I understood that Megan was supposed to be "fixed." Although I do think that she is somewhat better, she has a long way to go before she's considered a "good" player. However I do enjoy the game and spend way too much time playing.

Play the game constantly. Even though Megan went to spades school, she still seems to be very good at going set and taking bags. You would think those two skills would be mutually exclusive, but Megan pulls it off. I guess the school only teaches one thing at a time. Perhaps an advanced degree? Anyway, still very playable and well worth having.

I've been playing the easy version for a quick break. Megan does not know how to be a "team player". In real like, who trumps your partner's high card, or who over trumps your partner when it isn't necessary? Does anyone besides me feel really stupid advising you computer partner on the errors of her play?

Good, but it needs better game play
As many others have noted, "Megan" is not a very good player, which is frustrating. But the opponents are also not great. In "easy" mode, for example, they will together bid over 13 tricks, guaranteeing their failure. It makes for a very frustrating experience.
The same authors version of Hearts, while also easy to beat, doesn't have the same level of annoying behavior.

Can be fun sometimes
I think the other team (computer) plays the way the person playing the game played in previous rounds. I noticed this when my kids, 8 & 6 years old, played. They bid really high. Then when I played a round the players on the other team kept bidding high, making it easy for me to win.

SPADES
I just bought Spades because my partner Megan ( a computer) does not know how Spades is played! So this tells me the people that set this up don't know how to play Spades!! I could understand the aggravation factor, trying to get your money, but I thought I would get a different partner( computer) and enjoy a real game, rather then always under bidding so I can cover her outrageous bids! Such a great game, but so disappointing!! I spent the cash for improvement, not the same old novice play!

Charles CHEATS!!
It's really not a bad App, but Charles cheats by re-nigging. Watch him closely, he'll throw a spade when he is supposedly out of spades. The female player tends to play like a dump truck, she'll lead off with spades when she only has one or two and when it isn't necessary for her go lead off with a spade. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase.

I enjoy playing the game and even bought the upgraded version. However; for about 2 or 3 days each time it was time to bid both of our opponents would bid a 6 @ the same time when my partner and I were biding 3 each. As I said that went on for about 3 days it seems to have worked itself out. I do have a problem with my partner cutting me and b/c of it we get set. All & all I really like the game. Please work on the kinks.

A fun game
It is as good as can be expected without live partners and have played with some that haven't been as good as this game. If you are going to do a nil bid make sure that there is no way you can fail she doesn't always cover you.

Not bad, could be better.
I have tried many spades games and this one has the best graphics. However, it would be nice if overall statistic for the game was kept, and please please PLEASE do something about Megan (my partner). She over bids one game then under bids the next. I can't even adjust my play to account for her bad playing because there is no pattern. I don't expect her to be perfect but just good would be nice.

When I upgraded to Spades Pro I expected a much, much better calibre of partners and opponents. stupid leads, trumping partner's tricks are characteristics of a brand new player. Yet it happens all the time. Certainly the 'Pro' version, especially when the 'hard' level is selected, should be much more of a challenge. I am not really a strong player and really don't have much card sense, but yet I win nearly every hand! I don't feel I can improve my skills when a player like me continues to be the strongest player at the table. Isn't there some way to provide a wider range of levels of difficulty? Meghan, my partner, is an idiot. Stupid stupid mistakes makes this game not worth playing. Can't you fix it?

This is such a great game, it's a shame they don't seem to be able to program the "Megan" partner to play with the same logic the other team seems to have built in. It usually seems like you are playing against a 3 person team, as Megan will mess up at least two out of every three hands. If you are playing nil, she is at best no help, playing lowest cards; almost always uses kings in the worst way; will overplay your bid when unnecessary; and always plays out the spades to mess up your hand; and overbids...if they could just program her to play WITH her partner, it would be perfect.

Can't someone write a program where your "partner" (that moron Megan) doesn't trump your good trick and then set you? Also, why not lead back the suit when you throw a face card? It seems like when we go set 9 times out of 10 it's because my partner over bids or leads me out of trump? I have a spades game on my lap top and at the end of the hand it shows all four hands. I like that better.

Would be a great game except...
Unfortunately you are forced to play with an incompetent partner named "Megan". It is quite maddening! (I hate that name now) She doesn't cover Nils (she ditches high cards for no reason, even if you are still holding high cards). She never even TRIES to make her bid. She always grossly overbids, or underbids. She doesn't seem to understand the importance of Spades, or how they will affect the bidding process. She doesn't play to minimize bags, and she WILL ruin your game every time.

Paid version removes ads-that's about all
There is very little difference between the free and paid versions other than a slightly taller screen and no ads. I was hoping it would not have the various delays the free version had but they are still there. The game itself gets easier to understand as you play it more. It's probably better for the advanced user than the beginning.

Leading kings
This game is solid. It is enjoyable, accurate and stable. That said, you have to take into account some mediocre computer play. Regardless if it's your opponent or partner, players don't account for other bids when making their own. They lead kings on the first hand of the suit, only to get bested by an ace. They will throw away high cards on a losing hand and keep lower cards of the same suit, only to miss their bid. And if you go nil, blind or otherwise, you better be sure you can handle it on your own. Your partner will be no help.

A good spades game, but not great. The layout is the best I've seen of all the "Spades" games available on the app store. One problem I have with it is that you are unable to play as a single player, you have to play in teams. Your teammate is a bad "Spades" player. Obviously adding single player mode would solve this & would be getting a higher rating from me & a lot of other players. If you feel like me then "Spades Classic" is the game for you.

AI frustratingly erratic
On Easy or Medium the game is too easy. On Hard, the game is normally fun, except sometimes Megan (your partner) will inexplicably go into "stupid mode" and do things like avoid trumping books then get all of her spades bled out, resulting in your side being set, or leading the 2 of hearts when you are bidding nil, even though she has face cards in the same suit in her hand, resulting in you being set.
The result is a game that is fun to play 80% of the time, and rage-inducing during the other 20%. If the programmers could eliminate those glaring AI mistakes, the game would be 4-5 stars.

Love the game wish Megan your partner was smarter, half the times she throws out random cards that shouldn't be thrown out there and makes you go under by a hand and loose 60pts :-/ but all and all pretty good game idk if its worth the dollar to compaired to the free one with out adds, I always play on hard cause med and easy you get to easy of hands

Okay so I did my research before I perched this game 70-30 % and I I'm thee Ispadez Pro ;) and discovered that your partners IQ is not all what they hype it to be after I notice she purposely gave a book away by not playing to win early in the round leaving us with end results of negative points.??? But for the most they can hold there own down you jus have to stay as thee front runner an they will follow your lead..... S-Network it they will come

Best I've played
I've been playing spades since 1998 and am very good at it. I bought this and went straight for hard mode and was blown away. Never have I come across AI that will throw off on low bid hands or not trump you or over trump a short suit like this game. I was not prepared for this kind of AI. Hard mode will challenge even the pro players. I love it. Hands down the smartest AI I've ever played. I feel like I'm playing with real people. 10 stars.

Excellant Standard Game of Spades
Game play is great. The reason for the four star rating is it is missing some features: retaining accumulated statistics, no winning celebration, no options like must bid nil or number of spades in hand, everyone must bid number of spades in hand, between teams one them has to bid nil.

This is a very good game! To even put something like this in an App is mind blowing! Excellent for a beginner in spades, the repetition will teach the basics of the over all game. On the other hand there are some spade players who have learned different variations of the game with different rules and different trump methods.
My suggestion is for you to explore these various spade games and make them the different game difficulties for the more seasoned players. If you should do this be sure to provide instructions for each game! I also believe this would cut out the negative comments.
Great job on the creation of this App it is quite entertaining.

Partner under and over bids often yet the opposing team hardly ever does. After too short of a time you can compensate for it since the same cards and moves are repeated after 15 minutes. It's still addicting if you like playing a game now and then. Overall being generous I give it a 3.

My partner(megan) make foolish play! 1. Trumps my winning trump. 2. When i have bid zero she will still card under my bid. Even though she could have saved us we get the 100 point penalty. 3. Often she bids low but will take 2, 3, or more tricks over her original bid. Consequently, we are always overloaded with bags. Very frustrating! I need a smarter partner.

ARRRRGGHH! Wish you had given her a little bit of skill or a touch of common friggin sense. I've had to learn how to compensate for her stupidity. Other than that, I still love playing. Worth the money when you can't get online.
