Awesome App!

Similar to Audacity, this app is perfect for recording my old vinyl records and audio cassettes to my iPad & iPhone. The interface is easy to understand and use. The app is very much worth the price. A quality product!

Hidden gem!

This recorder and editor has everything! I've spent a good deal of time trying to find an app that would let me adjust the input level for a recording (don't want "auto gain" for music). This app will let me adjust every aspect of the recording and edit it too! The interface is a bit dated, but honestly, as someone who records gigs and lessons all the time with my phone, I am thrilled to have found this.

Perfect!

This is a great companion for editing sound bites for any application or tightening up samples for a DAW.
Great intuitive design ... if you have ever edited any audio you'll already know how to use this app.

Will not work with Shure MV 88 mic

This is a very capable, and would be my favorite, app but since it does not work at all with my Shure MV88 stereo mic on either of my iPhone 6s+ phones it is of no use to me. Money down the drain. The app does, however, work perfectly with my iPad. The developer has told me that improvements are on the way and I hope that is true. My Mic dependably works with all my other recording apps in stereo mode so I know the microphone is not at fault. I have tried many, many different ways to force Twisted Wave to recognize my microphone to no avail.

Get it you won't regret it ... read on ...

I began using iPhones the first day the iPhone 1 became available in the United States. Just for the record, that was June 29, 2007 or almost ten years ago. Over the years I've used various audio enhancers, FLAC Players, audio converters, extreme high-end headphones, earbuds ... you name it, I've tried it all in an effort to get the best sound I possibly could out of my little iDevices over these past 10 years.
Then quite unintentionally, I discovered this app on sale (actually it was free for 24 hours or so) and once I opened it up to see what I could do, I discovered I could do wonderful things to my existing audio on my device or any music I care to put on it later.
If you want to amplify your music so that it's crazy loud? Just run it through this App ... it's got adjustable decibel amplification, so get ready to bang your head!! Just turn it up 3 to 5 dB to start and find out where you're happy - don't be crazy and amplify it until your ears blow off your head.
There's a very well written review somewhere amongst all these others titled 'Mastering for iOS'. It was written by a man named JohnK916. And John and I are kind of walking the same path, it was a little bit weird reading his review because we both have been going through our music libraries and basically remastering them. I hope he's enjoying his tunes as much as I am enjoying mine!

Mastering for iOS

This App is so efficient and anything you could need as an Audio Engineer.
I plug my iPhone into my Aux input in my Car, and with the effects preview I am able to completely master my songs.
The goal as an engineer for me is to be able to have my songs really sound full and clear in the car. With this App I sit in the parking lot just mixing songs the car has the best acoustics lol.
The other thing I like is the ability to add to iCloud Drive which gives me access to the song on all of my other iCloud Drive supported apps I.E GarageBand for additional recording.
Very easy to use greasy intuitive undo and redo to hear the difference of your audio processing.
I want to thank the developers of TwistedWave I love you and tell everyone to use this App for Mastering🎶.👍🏾

Very close to what I'm looking for, with one tiny little exception

Let me start by saying that at the time of this writing, I got TwistedWave Audio Editor for free, which I was not expecting at all. Normally, apps priced anywhere around $10 or above never go free. I don't know if this was just a quick little promotion or what, but it couldn't have come at a better time for me. I have been wanting this app for months, and now, I finally have it! I was excited about this app, for as long as I was, because firstly, it's the only audio editor I found on iOS that doesn't want you to buy a bunch of silly in app purchases, just to make it work well enough for you to get anything out of it. TwistedWave Audio Editor is a complete app, that you only pay one fee for, with no additional in app purchases. I like that model better than the Inn app purchasing system, so I was really thrilled when I discovered that. Secondly, I heard that TwistedWave was much easier to use than other, more popular audio editors for iOS. And thirdly, I heard that it worked well with Apple's screen reader, VoiceOver. Upon downloading TwistedWave tonight, I was totally overjoyed to find that all the great things I've heard about it were very true. This is exactly what I've been looking for in an audio editor for iOS. With just a little more time to mature, and a little more practice using it, on my part, TwistedWave could easily be just as useful to me on my iPhone as Amadeus Pro is on my Mac. That's saying a lot, because I seriously love Amadeus pro, and TwistedWave is the only iOS audio editor that comes anywhere near Amadeus Pro's functionality. The only glaring omission, at this point, is multi track recording, but I'm certain that could be easily solved in the future update. TwistedWave can already paste the contents of one audio file on top of another, so that the two play simultaneously and can be exported as one track, and that's close enough, right now. Besides, other iOS audio editors I've tried don't even have that paste over feature, and I love that feature. That something I use in Amadeus pro all the time, and I am so happy to find it here in TwistedWave. Selecting parts of an audio file is very easy to, and cut, copy, and paste work exactly as expected. I've worked on a few large audio files, and none of them have made TwistedWave crash, so it seems to be pretty stable as well. However, despite how much I'm starting to really enjoy using this app, there is one tiny little problem. I cannot scrub through an audio file with VoiceOver turned on. I can hear the position of the cursor spoken to me by VoiceOver, but I cannot use the screen readers gestures to move the cursor. I just have to let the audio play through until I find a position where I want to make my edits. That's a little inconvenient. This app would definitely be five stars, if only that little annoyance were fixed. But, I'm sure that's no problem. I'll just have to wait for an update, but until then, I will keep practicing with it, and keep using it, until I get the hang of every control in this app. It is so worth keeping for me, and I would still think so, even if I would've paid regular price for it.

Like Audacity for my iPad

Having used Audacity on my PC for years, I needed an equivalent audio recording and editing app when I switched to iPad as my portable production studio. TwistedWave is excellent; everything I need. I was doubtful that a touch interface would suffice for audio editing, but I was wrong. It is very intuitive with a low learning curve, and it comes with all the standard filters and adjustments I need to clean up my voice recordings. The only thing some would complain about is lack of multi-track recording or ability to drop markers or notes on the timeline, but I've not needed those. I like all the export options and native Dropbox integration, too. I put this app in my "well worth the money" category. Thanks!

Exactly What I Needed

I bought this yesterday to shorten/lengthen music tracks for my dance classes. In less than an hour and a half, I edited eight tracks using my ipad. This is simple to figure without instructions, though I only used copy/cut and paste options. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Wow!

I launched the app and pressed record--what a gorgeous interface! So far editing, recording, file management--all first rate. Sound quality is top-notch! I tried both the built-in microphone on my iPad Air 2 and an Apogee ONE audio interface with built-in microphone. Both produced excellent results. I have no complaints--I'm a new believer! Oh, and I've auditioned lots of audio editor software on the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Windows platforms. I'm a long-time Logic Pro user and I have become a devoted Reaper user. I wanted an audio editor for the iPad that would do everything I needed including cut-and-paste, normalizing, effects . . . TwistedWave is truly great software.

So Far, So Good!

Been looking for an easy to use audio editor since GarageBand can't handle longer podcast lengths. I haven't spent a lot of time with this app yet, but I plan to! Very easy to use and cut audio. Lots of options for tweaking small aspects of your sound that a lot of other apps don't have (or aren't intuitive to use). I recommend it!

Bug fixes can lead to more bugs

This app is still my favorite. So far still works. But there's one bug that's been happening a little more frequently. When I play a track (usually after some editing. To be specific: pitch and speed) it randomly stops playing it in the middle. I can always still play it, but it just randomly pauses. Still a good app. Hasn't failed me yet.

TwistedWave makes recording simple. It's intuitive and for recording of audio book format, it is as simple as 1,2,3. The only "problem" with it is... I don't get to spend as much time on it as I would like.

Straightforward, Intuitive, Versatile, Perfect!

Had a terrible misadventure attempting to use the highly-touted Ferrite app on this iPad Pro; paid the 20 bucks to unlock the "advanced" (poorly labeled) features - only to find a convoluted mess of an incomprehensible UI that an old Analog Audio Production guy like myself can't even begin to make use of without months of dedicated training. Despite my attempts to get a refund for that clearly mistaken purchase, I'm just getting "Radio Silence" from Apple. Guess it'll have to be a tax write-off as a minor bad business investment...
THIS is IT! As Steve would say: "You already know how to use it." Right out of the box, I was importing, editing and processing tracks to my heart's delight in mere seconds. YESSS! You folks really need to better promote how beautifully clean and simple this app is - "I am over the moon" with its thoughtful design and, for me, flawless functionality and performance. Note to all VO professionals: Just get Twisted Wave, and skip the rest. Might as well use Garage Band, if you want to tinker around with complicated multitrack Music Production, or iMovie for audio/video work - I see no advantage to any of the other "Audio Editor" apps I've checked out so far, but as an old reel-to-reel tape editor/production veteran, what do I know?
Now I can finally get back to work, happily. Thanks!

Great for quick fix

This is a great app for quick music editing/cutting. It's accessibility between devices is great...just send a text. Its simple to use and quick. It is limited...cannot drag ends of edits, cross fade isn't an option, cannot overlap tracks, fade in/out is limited. Works well for fast simple cuts.

Was Good...but crashed.

I had been using Twisted Wave for almost a year for my voice over work. It was easy to use and I got all my projects in on time. Then, this weekend as I'm trying to edit an audiobook that is due in a couple of days, it crashed. It's still showing that the recording is there, but it won't open. It's also not letting me email any previous recordings I've done. I've tried to contact Twisted Wave support and still have not received a response. If anyone knows of a way to help me retrieve my work or if you know of any other reliable voice recording apps that I can try PLEASE let me know!

Worth much more than the cost

I have been using the desktop version of TwistedWave for over 10 years as my main stereo audio editor and mastering program. I am a composer and producer and love simplicity and reliability. This program has performed flawlessly. It’s sleek design hides its powerful engine which is exceptionally user friendly. When the mobile app became available it totally expanded the way I record in the field. Not only am I able to record, with third party audio interfaces, extremely high quality audio, but also edit on the fly and send the files off to numerous locations using universal apps supported by TwistedWave. The tech support is a team of one: Thomas, who is also the developer! He is always helpful, will find ways to solve your problems, and gets back to you. I can’t say enough about this program except that I have used countless apps for every conceivable function, and I wish they all worked as elegantly as TwistedWave. If you’re into audio and require stability and dependability, get this app - you’ll be glad you did. Mark Torgeson

Desperately Needs MultiTrack

Great app, lots of good features. I've successfully used it to edit some pretty large files. The only problem is that there is no multitrack feature. Come on guys, we really need that feature in order for this to be a complete audio recording and editing app, especially with a $10 price tag. I'll rate this 5 stars when they add this feature. Until then, it's great for simple editing.

Get this app

I used this app during a live radio broadcast (I also use Voice Record). Both are awesome apps. If I could change one thing it would be the option of having access to a multi-track feature. App allows music imports, however from what I can tell it ends up on the same track with my voice - not helpful. I paid for the upgrade - give me one more track at least.
Awesome sound quality! Love the extra features that Voice Record doesn't offer.

The best option for quick efficient editing

I absolutely love this application is done so much for me. Very easy to maneuver and zoom in on audio peaks and valleys. With numerous export options it's hard for anything to compare. Thank you so much.... I can't remember how much this application cost but it has been worth every cent hand over fist.
Wish list...
If possible....Please allow sample rate and bit depth to lock in globally. I go through edits every couple minutes and I have to reset the conversion rate and bit depth every time
Also when editing loop section ...when zoomed in follows the cursor and makes the screen jump back-and-forth… Is there a way to freeze screen while editing playing loop?

A Feature-Laden, Versatile Tool. - Updated.

I already previously considered this app to be the very best audio editor available on iOS, before this most recent update. But, man, with the new filters like the cadre of what I consider to be, amazing distortion filters. Well, this has become the one and only application that I use to edit any and pretty much all of my audio project's.
Well, that is not entirely true. Because I also find AudioShare to be an invaluable tool as well on my iOS device. But they do not feel like the same type of app to me, with TwistedWave being more in the full-fledged audio editor camp. Using those two apps in conjunction with each other, along with myriad synths and other audio applications that I own. Well, I do not have much of a reason to jump on my desktop computer besides to catalog and backup my work.
I am just so completely enamored with the new FX and filters added in this recent update. And I just want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to the developer of this app, for all of your hard work and effort put forth here. Thanks again and God Bless.
Update : 12/04/2014
I have found these two most recent updates to this application to just be great and on par with the usual high quality that I've come to expect from this developer.
The new ability to import/export from both Dropbox and Box are truly wonderful and much appreciated features. Plus, I am also very thankful and grateful for the recent inclusion of FLAC as an export format. FLAC for those that don't know, gives you a truly lossless and uncompressed way to store your audio files. The fact that it is a royalty-free audio container is even better.
So, in my opinion, all of these recent improvements to this app just make it the absolute best choice for audio editing on your Apple device. It probably is a superb choice as well on your desktop/laptop computer too. But, the $80 price tag is just a bit too steep for my taste's when I have free alternatives such as Audacity to use. If the price of the desktop version of TwistedWave ever gets cut in half or even just $25 off, I may very well purchase it.
My sincere thanks to the developer of this application for all of the hard work that you no doubt put into making this the premiere audio editor on iOS. God Bless and Merry Christmas.

Fantastic

I purchased this app mainly for two purposes....to make pitch adjustments to my vocals after they are recorded, and to be able to stretch and/or shrink the length of any type of note that I have recorded as an audio wave in my multitrack recordings. This App is incredible. It allows me to do all of the above plus much, much more. Coupled with AudioCopy (included) and AudioShare, I can import single tracks of audio from my multitrack recordings in progress, tweak them to my heart's content, then export them right back into my on-going projects. I have been searching for such an app for months ...and here it is, exactly what I needed. Outstanding!!

Umm, yeah, awesome

Easily the best one out there for iPad iPhone and I have used them all. A few things that make it stand out to me are 1. The easy cut X option- Makes editing out the unwanted stuff super fast. Next, I only use my iPad for recording when I am away from my studio so I am almost always in a less than desirable recording location: the fine tuned high pass filter is basically a must have when recording outside the studio and this works beautifully. (with others it was too hard to dial in the right frequency if they had one at all). Third, the different EQ options. Would be super awesome though if they could keep a list of the para EQs that you have used on a track so you could delete later if desired. Lastly, super easy editing and that is what makes this app really stand out. Mark Hanson Voice Over Artist - Los Angeles Ca

Garbage.

16bit files by default, garbage. 32bit temp files, garbage. This not a pro app, it has major shortcomings. Go ahead and purchase this and find out for yourself.
Nice interface, but I would rather have pro features and clear explanation of your silly 16bit default storage after you turn the app off, GARBAGE.
This app is obviously designed by someone who knows little to nothing about real-world recording or logical workflow.
Buyers: Enjoy exporting files from this app (1 at a time and everything will be 16bit if you close the app after recording in 32bit mode). This dev is lame and weak, no skillz - feel me?

Excellent Recording App!

I've used a few field recording apps, and so far this is the best I've found. Easy recording. Easy sharing. Easy editing. Easy conversion into MP3 and other major formats. It's all very intuitive and accessible.
Also, this app lets you disable the iOS microphone processing, which is *very* important, if you want to make an excellent recording. With the processing, there's background noise inbetween sounds. Without the processing, it's an excellent recorder -- shockingly good for a piece of consumer electronics that fits into your pocket!

The BEST audio editor available

I use Twisted Wave primarily for radio production in Boston, and I have found it to be an extremely user friendly, well designed app that makes for a quick turnaround on projects. Selecting audio is straightforward, it's got decent reverbs and compression, a way to quickly add a fade, you can import from iTunes and export to DropBox, and (in my experience) it NEVER freezes up. Works perfectly, straightforward and powerful

Works just fine, I worked out how to use it without reading the help files and edited an interview while my Mac was down, uploaded the final file to Dropbox.
Simple, powerful, I tried the demo for half an hour then bought the full version.
Unbelievably useful for straightforward work, and is capable of quite delicate and subtle cuts, with care.

Best audio editor that I've found for IOS

I produce a short (3'30") weekly radio spot in Southeast Asia for broadcast in Texas and midWest. This is the best IOS app I've found for my purposes.
Change speed, keep pitch the same, is a great unnoticeable cheater for making a piece fit the time constraints. Very simple and straightforward FTP upload. Dropbox integration. Email file from within app. Various formats including mp3.
These are all capabilities rolled into this little app that are not all there in the competition.
The minimal unlock fee for all this is, in my opinion, a bargain.
Highly recommended!

I use this quite often

It gives me a few features that aren't in GarageBand like boosting the GarageBand drums, even adjusting the velocity and turning the volume up all the way the drums are still to quiet at least for me as a metal musician. The reverse feature let's me add some wild stuff to my songs. The change speed and pitch feature is really cool. It would be 5 star if it had features like adding effects and being able to layer sounds, also to be able to work on the left/right tracks independent of each other. I would be awesome if you could add 8 tracks to make this a mixer which would be worth 10$ easy....please add that.

This One Has It Right.

I almost didn't get TwistedWave - I figured other editors were basically the same idea and they were cheaper so why invest? But I forgot: when it comes to editing audio function and UI are both crucial to the process and TwistedWave has both of these nailed: nice huge / detailed waveforms, simple menu setup, and rock solid results. TwistedWave has proved to be a vital app helping me to not be computer-reliant: The importing, exporting, file management and Audiobus capabilities are all wonderfully fluid. The wave editing feels very hands-on and precise. iOS music-makers rejoice and enjoy: TwistedWave is another keeper.

Awesome!

I use this app along with an alesis i/o dock as a 2 track mixdown deck. It's amazing! All my bands multi tracks get mixed down to TwistedWave, edited and uploaded to Dropbox or the twisted wave website so that my band mates can immediately download new mixes. Unbelievable! I've been recording on computers for 10 yrs and there has never been an easier way to edit and export than with TwistedWave. It the most intuitive and easy to use recorder and editor ever! I find it much easier to use than pro apps like Peak. My only criticism is that you can't change the input resolution of the audio you record. You can only change it on the output end when you export the file. Otherwise this is a great app that you would probably pay close to 10 times as much for on a desktop.

Great audio app

I truly enjoy this app and use it everyday recording VO's for TV and Radio. Easy to use, and easy to transfer wave files.
I would give it 5 stars if it had the option for multiple tracks. Being able to add a soundtrack or SFX under the VO, then mix down to a master would be a definite plus. Maybe in a future update this can happen. If/when it does, this app would be my only choice for recording.

Great app

May 11, 2013 update
Nice looking new features. Vertical swipe zoom and recording at different sample rates, wonderful. Plus the gain slider. Very nice additions to an already great app.
Original review
I've used Twisted Wave for a long time now, recording voice-over auditions on the road, in closets, in cars. It is simple to use. Though I use it for basic recording and editing, it has a lot of great features. Emailing files from the app is a breeze. I'm really impressed with what the designer has done.

Outstanding!

I am using a gen. 1 iPad and this program does what all others I have tried failed to do, work. I edit podcasts that can be several hours in length and it performs wonderfully. I can export from GoodReader into TwistedWave and back without issue. It is rare that an app performs better than expected but this one exceeds. A big thank you to the developers for creating a "functioning" audio editor that is simple to use and just plain works. Worth every penny!

Fills a giant hole

Prior to this, I was using Fire 2 and Isaidwhat? For recording. Both have some perks. However, what sold me on TwistedWave and makes me giddy is that this is the only app I know of that let's you import a sound from iTunes (or anywhere else), trim down the bits you want with some precision, and put them another app, notably the incredible Samplr. Prior to this, I played with the sampling features on both Beatmaker 2 and IMPC, and both are clunky and unusable for that purpose. What I wanted was something quick and easy, the way Ableton is for slicing.
This is a massive win, and another crucial step in the iPad's development to fully fledged musical tool.
Definitely worth $10.

Love this app

This is a great app, easy, beautiful, and better than some others I had.
Also as an aside many audio and music apps do allow for sharing of files on the go without iTunes, just between themselves on the phone itself. Did it myself just now. Downloaded a video with this one app, converted it to an audio only file with this other app, and then edited it with this one and then exported it to yet another audio music app all by having these apps share the file with each other using the "open in" button that at least most audio/music apps have. No iTunes, no laptop was needed.
Really, this app has a wonderful interface, great options, again I love it.

First Review Ever

I bought this due the reviews. I really like it and it works well. I would like there to be more options for importing sound files. There are a ton of export options, but the import options are lacking. I'd like to be able to import sound files on the go without connecting to iTunes.
Other than that, I like the app.

Really Well Done

Twistedwave is by well done and easy to use! We use TW for our Total Babble podcast, and the app paired with the Apogee Mic produces exceptional quality! Everything is simple, laid out intuitively and works well. The only gripe I have have is that Dropbox has a cap when transferring data through the app (this is apparently a Dropbox policy and not that of the app's author).
This can be gotten around through file sharing in iTunes.
Very much recommended....
And to those complaining of crashes, make sure you close all background apps when using. I've never had an issue when doing this.

this is great!!!!!

I didn't think they would have a music editor like this on the go! I ha been looking for something cheap and good for a very long time to edit/cut usually long songs to do dancing shows. This is it! 10 dollars did seem like too much for an app but when you think about how much an actual good editor cost this isn't very expensive.
It would be nice if they update it and have a way to go back to any point you are dealing with... what I had to do is write it down so I could go back and delete a section... not the end of the world but it would make things much easier... also having some sound effects would be nice!
thanks for this great app and hope you keep making it better!

Customization Needed

One of the best things about the desktop version of TwisedWave is the customization options of the workspace. Don't want the master volume bar? Drag it off. Want to shrink the master waveform on the top? Shrink it. Well, on an iPhone, screen real estate is crucial. To the point that if it is compromised, an experience can be claustrophobic. I strongly recommend that customization of most of the elements in this app be implemented. And maybe figure out a way to start and stop playback without having to tap the play button (what about tap anywhere twice fast?)

A great mobile Soundbooth alternative

I've never used another iPad app to edit sound. But I use Soundbooth for Mac and was looking for its iPad equivalent to edit spoken word-type recordings on the go and this fit the bill perfectly.
Editing on the Mac is a little faster for me, but this is almost as fast and excellent for editing while traveling.
It has never crashed on me and seems to automatically save continuously anyway. It's really easy to select pieces of sound and delete or do other things and the interface is intuitive and pretty slick.
I transferred files i recorded on my Mac back and forth easily with both Drop Box and iTunes methods, and it worked perfectly. iTunes is much faster a transfer method given the size of the files I use, so I do that most of the time.
Again, I've never used the free ones or any others out there, but I found this first and didn't have the time to mess around looking for a good free one, so luckily things worked out very well. I really love it!

Best for VoiceOver

My wife uses this every day to send her VO auditions to her agent. It works seamlessly with the Apogee Mic and sounds fantastic. The editing is very simple and precise. You can send our auditions as an MP3 right from within the app.
Also the Dropbox integration is fantastic. The iPhone version works just as well. I've been a recording engineer for 15 years using Pro Tools, Logic, you name it. For VoiceOver nothing comes close to the ease and simplicity of this app.

Excellent

This app allows me to set aside one more devise so that my iPhone 4s can now take over.... my digital recorder. I was already using the Mac version to edit my radio programs and now, not only can I skip a step I can actually skip three steps and record and edit on my iPhone. This is great. All I do now is plug in a nice lapel mic into my iPhone, hit record and 3/4 of the job is already done.

Awesome Again!

UPDATE: The latest update has fixed the issue with recording stopping when screen locks. Thank you! MP3 export also seems to work fine for me. Anyone having this issue should probably email the devs directly with details since they can't respond to reviews.
Easy to use, intuitive, yet does everything I want including:
- Export as MP3 (this is probably the only app that does this) plus a bunch of other formats
- Mono/stereo recording
- Export via email, dropbox, soundcloud, iTunes, wi-fi, audio-copy paste (wow!)
- On-device editing
- Good range of effects including easy pitch/speed change!
Yes it doesn't do multi-track but that's not an advertised feature and frankly I prefer the simplicity of a single-track recorder most of the time. Can use a bunch of other apps when I need multi-track. This is ample and perfect for my needs. Great job, well done, and worth every penny!

Best for radio production so far.

I have been doing commercial recording for more than 20 years and have gone from splicing tape to all sorts of recorders and now an iPad. This, along with my XLR mic adapter lets me record quality audio and also offers a wide variety of ways to get the sound out of the unit and to a PC or Mac (where I used Adobe Audition).
The limited editing works well, especially for removing bad takes and the occasional uh and ah. I recommend it for radio folks and audio bloggers.

Best of its kind so far...

I've downloaded many audio recording apps, and so far, for a mono/stereo recorder, this is the most full-featured app I've seen. The waveform and editing display window is great; and the ability to create your own FTP upload path is very helpful. I would like to see the following features added to bump this up to a 5-star rating:
- Ability to monitor the input level in the VU BEFORE starting recording.
- SoundCloud support.
- A better graphic interface for both the VU meter and the various function buttons.
I still value function over visual design, but with all of these great features, it would be nice to give this app a face-lift and make it look more like a professional audio editing app. I'm looking forward to see what the developer improves in the next update.

Good editor, not multi-track but good

I bought this hoping it would be good enough for mobile podcast editing, but apparently I didn't read the feature list closely enough to realize that there is no multi-track editing in this app, unlike Fire Studio or Hindenburg which I was comparing it against. The screenshot looked like there was, but I guess I was duped. Anyways, for editing a single recording or song the app works great, it's just not very useful to me without multiple tracks or the ability to import additional audio into a session. Hoping for a refund somehow.

So easy to use and versatile.

I downloaded this app for use by my print journalism students. It's so easy to use, is very functional, and the kids create pretty good audio programming, almost on a par with Soundbooth on the desktops. Being able to send files to dropbox or to email them is great. This app is well worth the cost.

The Best!

I picked this app up because I was fed up with another audio editing program that is about half the price but 10 times less useful. I needed an app that would copy and paste for loop editing between IOs synth/drum apps into Mixtikl and Multitrack. Twistedwave worked perfect seconds after download. The price is well worth it as it is the best we have for audio editing so far!!

Just what I was looking for!

I have to edit audio interviews on a regular basis, which has always been a painstakingly tedious process no matter what software I was using. TwistedWave for the iPad has streamlined the process in a truly revolutionary way. The ability to quickly zoom in and out on the waveform by pinching, the ease of scrolling through the wave with a finger swipe, and the simple and elegant means of highlighting a stretch to cut or modify have saved me countless hours. This is an excellent piece of software, clearly written by someone who knows audio editing very well.

Now I can do everything on the iPad

I do event support and always get asked to do announcements, and create audio clips for the speakers that are presenting. This app let's me record my voice, which isn't that rich announcer voice, and add reverb, slow it down a bit, and of course change the pitch. I sound so cool now. If you need the full wave editing capabilities on your iPad get this app. It is the best waveform editor I have found.

This is what you are looking for, a sample editor!!!

6/2/01 -
Seems to retain edit history even of saved projects, would be nice to be able to clear (erase) undo history.
Big plus, I'm able to take music I purchased on iTunes, load it into twisted wave and change pitch and speed independently (note the speed shift is perfect, it has no noticeable artifacts) and you can adjust speed and pitch independently while previewing the effect. It has low/high pass filtering with ability to reduce amplitude of high/low frequencies independently. You can add delay sourcing the waveform from a lowpass filter so that drums can be echoed without affecting vocals.. It is very fast when applying changes, and will even let you playback the result as it is bing rendered.
Previous-
I did a test, bringing in a sample from OMGuitar, selected a subsample, performed a "copy", it gives the same sort of dialog found in iSequence for copy/paste of audio, I got into iSequence, loaded in sample into and instrument, and joy.. Yes this is what I needed..

Needed something quick, this did the job

Ever have one of thos emoments where you need a tool and you think "I wonder if there is an app for that?"
Here it is. I was able to trim up a song even create a fade in to it and apply some dynamics processing. Pulling a song straight from the itune library and exporting it back to it was very, very simple.
I highly recommend this for simple audio editing.

Nice Audio Recorder!

I really like this app for the ipad. I wish there was a way to save the file to the library on the ipad rather than having to retrieve from itunes later on. I would like to work with audio recordings within the ipad itself. I exported my recording to itunes but I could not find it anywhere on my ipad. I had to sync to itunes in order to retrieve the flle. Still, it's not bad

I love the idea of this, but it isn't quite there yet!

For 10 bucks I do expect a richer selection of fx than just basic hi mid lows. I think it is a really easy intuitive interface. I also think it has great possibilities. But I think it was released too early. All these reviews seem to have a personal bias for the dev. I give him or her props. The interface is different. But the contents do not justify the price. It is missing basic things like a D S L R envelope, no fx really at all. I wish the dev hadn't just described the app as having fx. I don't really think of high and low pass filtering as fx. I really am not just whining for features. I truly thought with such great , verbose reviews and a good description; that this could be a killer wave recording and editing app. The name is a bit misleading. Twisted Wave editor. I assumed it allowed you to record, twist and tweak with a large fx library. I will re-review it after another few updates, but as it stands now I can not give this more than 2 stars. Just not worth the money, at all. Basic, basic, basic. Not suitable for my professional needs. I understand that I do most of my real work in logic and or ableton, but I think it is logical to be able to do a majority of that in app. This app could be great, but it just isn't. I rarely write reviews, usually if I do it's positive. But I had to shed some light on the reality of this app in progress. Seriously? 10 bucks?

The Best Audio Editor for iOS!

I've used quite a few audio editing apps for iOS, and I have to say that TwistedWave is the best, no question. It's fast and responsive, stable when editing large files, and has a very clean interface. The author was also quick to answer a question I had with the app, and to put it mildly, I'm _very_ excited to use the next update (Sonoma AudioCopy/Paste)! If you deal with audio editing in your work or as a hobby, buy it, there's a 99.9% good chance it'll replace the editor on your desktop; it's just that intuitive.

Really, really good

It was about time somebody wrote an App with such a professional looking interface and simple, yet effective tools for audio recording and editing. It feels like having Adobe Audition in the palm of your hands. On top of that, the author is quick and responsive, and he is working on major updates to make it better (cropping, saving selections, moving audio between files, higher bitrate encoding, background recording...)
It looks and works great on the iPhone, but it is simply stunning on the iPad. Highly recommended for anybody serious about sound recording.
