I love the game but the last update sucked

I used to play this game a lot but since the update it's hard to because of how far it starts from your finger. Also I can't click anything on the screen that comes up after you play a game so I have to kill the app and open it back up. Another thing is the resolution just looks really crappy and it kinda makes it not as, I guess you could say, exciting, as it used to be

The aspect ratio may have been fixed on the iPhone 6, but now it's broken on the 5. The cursor is not in the right location relative to my finger, and the resolution is lower than normal.

Lazy Lazy Lazy!!!!

These dudes need to do better testing before releasing an update. I don't know if this version runs properly on any devices, but on my 5s it has many issues.

I'm pleased to say that it displays across my whole screen, but the image is very low res (not 8-bit, just ugly) and it is clearly just stretched to fit, not reformatted and scaled appropriately. When playing, the cursor tracks your finger about 1.5 cm to the left of actual finger placement, which makes the game quite a chore to play. To make matters even worse, you cannot use any buttons on the game over screen.

Lazy work on the update. Make it right. I paid for this! 😡

At least it works now but it still has a lot of problems

On the iPhone 6 the game is in very low resolution, the game over menu doesn't respond, and the path you create by your finger is made to the bottom right of where you touch and it makes the game very annoying to play. This game isn't fixed, it just works (at least mostly works) don't get it until another reviewer says its 100% fixed on the iPhone6

It's fixed, and it's awesome.

Previously, this app was broken in that it basically did nothing. It now works. Yay!

As for the game itself, I have one single complaint; if you get going too fast, the music cuts out. (According to in-game tips, this is intentional.) I'd prefer if the music got MORE intense if you broke the sound barrier, not less.

Aside from that, it's a unique, simple to learn, tough to master game, and I love it.

Not good.

I mean, I'm glad I could finally play it on my iPhone 5s, but the graphics are fuzzy and not optimized for larger screens than the iPhone 4/4s. Even on my old iPhone 4, where I still played it, the update made the graphics look worse. Not good.

I've loved this game for a long time. It was the first app I ever paid for. I'll still keep playing it, don't get me wrong, even though it's not quite as sharp as it was in previous versions.

I was so excited to see that solip skier (one of my favorite games) was fixed. But then I can't tap restart when I die - I have to tap randomly on the screen until it restarts. The graphics are "stretched out" on my iPhone 6 plus and not optimized graphically for the 6 plus. It also crashes al the time , the skier crashes even though I drew ground under him

Please please please fix this right for iOS 8 and graphically for the 6 plus!

Used to be a Great app

Saw it on G4 and I had to have it. Back when this was first released. I originally gave it 5 stars. But now I give it one star.

When I saw an update for this I was so excited to be able to play it on my 6plus. But alas the game is severely broken now.

1. Can't even draw the slopes properly

2. Skier just falls through the snow

3. Can't restart.

Fixed!!

I got this game a few months back, and it didn't work. Now, it is MOSTLY functional. Sometimes, the skier hates me and falls through the snow. Other than that, I'll keep rockin' on with Joe Stump and my skier. Thanks for the fix!

iPhone 6 glitch - new update??

I was absolutely obsessed with this game when it first came out

With the new iPhones and new IOS updates though this app doesn't even function or work, I'm stuck at the "touch anywhere and drag" screen and it doesn't let me play. It's not just my phone either because I've tried to download it on my friends phones too. Please please pleasee fix this problem I miss this game so much!

The only reason it's not a five star is because the entire app is frozen, otherwise please bring this app back!

I used to play this game a ton when it first came out. I bought it again just today and I tried playing it on my iPhone 5s, but I can't! I am stuck on the starting screen and when I tap and slide my finger on the screen nothing happens! This game has not received an update in the past five years and I don't expect that it will any time soon. So I would really like the devs to refund me for a terrible purchase that I wish turned out very differently.

App unresponsive...please fix!

This was one of my favorite games on my iPhone but since an OS update the application just opens up and will not go past home screen. The screen become unresponsive to touch. It appears that I'm not the only one with this problem. This has been going on for 6+ months now and still no solution. I've tried basic trouble shooting but no luck. People deserve to play this again.

With a high score of 1.5 billion (I'm not kidding, it was from about 3 years ago when this game was new) I think I'm uniquely qualified to review this game. Everyone else is right. It's more addicting than just about everything else once on the store you get the hang of it. I took to it faster than just about everyone else I know but I've hooked a few people on it. Unfortunately for everyone, iOS 8 seems to have completely nerfed the game. Touch doesn't work at all, and the game was never updated for taller devices.. It was extremely popular so there isn't much of an excuse 3 years later. It's sold a lot of copies.

3 stars because I love this game so much and want it to work again.

The greatest app in the store

I'm going to preface this by saying that this is one of my favorite apps. To see my original review (which was 5 stars) scroll to the bottom.

So recently on this iPod 5, I've been having a game breaking bug that absolutely destroys this game. It doesn't register my touch. Also there's the ever pressing issue of the black bars on either side because this game was never updated to work with the larger screen (I wouldn't mind, but since your hands are usually near the edge it can kill you once or twice)

In short, just update this game to work.. This is one of my favorite games on the iPod, I play it all of the time even five years after its release. Sure, a few new features would be nice but honestly, I just want to play this game again. I know that the devs aren't really around anymore but still..

There are very few games that I play as much as this game. Agreed, in needs a few more features, a pause button, and changeable music. But a game that has this much fun should not be put down. I bought it when it was 2.99 and I still thought it was worth it.

In short, if you don't like the game, give it a chance. You go faster at higher multipliers. And you can set the headphones to stick to your head in the settings.

As of IOS 8, the app loads, but doesn't respond to any tapping when trying to start a game.... It seems like the developers are not around anymore, it's such a shame because I've been playing this for around 5 years, and I haven't gotten bored of playing it. Please fix it!!!

Deceptively simple...

One of those games you play again and again. Played this since it was released as a flash game like 2 years ago and I'm still addicted. If the developer could just add a couple of new things I'd say it is the best iOS game to date.

Awesome!

I played this game on Kongregate for a while and loved it, but it is even better as an iOS app! Very addictive. The only issue I have, which seems to be a bug, is that occasionally the multiplier is canceled for avoiding a death gate. It could use a pause button but it's more challenging without one.

Great game

This game is fun, addicting and well worth the 1$ I paid for it. If you ever decide you have to Improve upon this game (which you don't), I would love to see more score given when not drawing slopes. Maybe even add a pro mode where you don't gain score if you're drawing. This would encourage making jumps and make the most fun part of the Game (jumping) have more of a score value and allow the player to have a high score and have more fun getting it.

Good, but very buggy

I truly love this game. I hope that more web games are made for iPhone/iPod/iPad. But there is a bug that can take away a lot of fun from this game. You know those red laser walls that kill you when you touch them? Yeah, most of the time the game acts like those are the green gates you have to pass through, even though they still kill you. So I'm just skiing along, with a 100 multiplier or so, when it suddenly drops down dramatically, making me something like this: :(

Anyway, I hope that you will read these comments and fix this issue. The game could sell so much more. If you don't read this, then someone could email the guys who made this and tell them. I'm too lazy to do it.

By the way, the song in the game is called Speed Metal Messiah, by Joe Stump. And you can listen to your own music by opening the game with music playing, dying immediately, and hitting mute.

Wow

I didn't like this game when I first starting playing but after hearing so many positive things I didn't want to give up, so I kept playing. It took me a couple of days to fully grasp the controls and all the mechanics but I'm very glad that I did because now, I can't stop playing. It is a truly wonderful game.

There are two things I would like added however, first, as much as I like metal riffs I would love to listen to my own library of songs while playing. Secondly, I would love to see an additional time attack mode, I wouldn't change anything about the gameplay except limiting the run to 2 minutes, I would love to see what the leader boards would look like with this time constraint.

Cool for a while

This is an amazing game to add to the "endless" genre, but unfortunately it lacks achievements, unlockables, and multiple game modes that make some other games stand out. Still, the concept is solid and it looks pretty, but once you set a high score that you think you'll never beat the replayability plummets.

Very addictive game!

I've bought hundreds of apps and this is one I come back to almost every day. Challenging with a lot of nuances that take some time to master. A game is great when you can play it over and over and not get bored. This is one of those games. Great job!

Awesome but one request...

I own in this game, and I have seen that the developer owns 2X more than me from the images, but that's not the point. The point is, I can't listen to my iPod music or listen to the radio without the in-game rock music playing! It'd be nice if ONLY the in-game music was muted and all the other sounds weren't muted. I can still hear my music but the in-game music still playing at the same is distracting and annoying. Please fix this, the custom song you gave us is great but sometimes we just want to listen to our own music.

Loads of fun, just needs screen flip option.

The game is great fun and has style to spare. My only problem (other than a sore fingertip from playing a little too vigorously) is that the default screen orientation isn't compatible with the Apple iPad case's tabletop configuration. A simple main menu option to flip the screen would be very welcome.

All you have to do is play one game and learn the simple yet intuitive controls and your off! I love this app because its an original and it can keep you busy while bored. Games can take as little as 2 minutes to 10 minutes and this is the perfect time for gaming. Right now I'm number 1 in Top Speed with 361!

Seriously excellent game here. Simple premise, flawless execution. The gameplay is really addictive, the visuals are cool and sleek, the music is rockin', and most importantly, the performance is perfectly smooth. Very nice port. I thought $3 was a little expensive at first, but that really is a very low price for such a solid gaming experience.

Super simple, super fun!

After completing the current version of Angry Birds, I was looking for a new game that would be able to grab my attention. I found what I was looking for in Soliskier. This game is easy, fun, and addictive. It is well worth the price. I do have one complaint: this game needs a pause button, otherwise, it is perfect.

Great game!

One of the best games for the iPhone. The graphics looks especially crisp on the iPhone 4 retina display and the music is pretty good as well. It's a very simple game yet take a couple minutes to get the hang of which is a good thing. I rated it a 4 instead of 5 because games similar to this usually have a high score board were you can enter names; this makes it extra fun cause it makes it competitive with other people.

Almost Perfect 5-Minutes-To-Kill Game

Simply amazing, puts all of those other running games to shame. Sharp visuals with a silky framerate, it looks great on both the iPad and iPhone (3GS, 4 comes out in Korea next month :D). You notice yourself getting better, it's not as mindless as the other ones, but still has simplicity coupled with perfectly-tuned physics; you never feel like you're not in control of where the solipskier goes, even at 200KPH.

In short, this is the game to make those bus rides and waiting lines fly by. Forget Doodle Jump, even Robot Unicorn Attack feels lame compared to this.

Best game. Period.

Out of the forty-some games I gave bought, this is undoubtably the best. Before this game I didn't write reviews, and I probably wont afterwards, but this game demanded it. It has a stark, minimalistic feel to it that does more for the game than any frills would. No menu, just start, and after that, restart or leaderboards. The most is gotten out of the game when it isn't on mute though; the music stays at a tempo that matches the skiers pace, and makes you want to go faster and do more just for the sake of the music. All together, it's a great game and totally worth the three bucks.

Angry Birds Replacement

Not their fault, but the iOS4 killed my 3G backup and I lost all my progress with Angry Birds (all levels complete). So, not having the heart to replay Angry Birds, I was itching for something as cool. This game is a lot of fun, and worth the money. It's more my speed than Doodle Jump has been, but not as phenomenal as Angry Birds. For a non-gamer like myself, I'm happy and the massive scores in brief bouts are kinda cool.

Fingerskiing

Joe, I had a couple - actually more like "some" - new experiences this morning. I finger shiied, or ski'd, or skied humph --while taking a crap. Still haven't broken 10m but my dexterity is getting much better. I was able to dismiss the iphone's low battery alert and switch the sound button to off position (didn't wont the wife to know I was finger shi-ing in the bathroom) without falling off the slope but I did almost fall off the john. That caused me to notice that both my legs had gone to sleep and that I couldn't stand up. Actually, I almost fell down and then back on to the John where I promptly began again to finger ski. Lost my muffs again! Also, some score card thingies popped up again right before I blacked out - guess the circulation problem was worse than I thought. Great game!!!

The Best Game on Any of My iDevices

I absolutely love this game. I heard about it first as a flash game. When I enjoyed that game, I bought the app and the experience on the iPad is even better. The controls are phenomenal. The gameplay is solid. I enjoy the music.

I would love to see this game evolve, maybe adding score sharing via Twitter and facebook like the flash game and a customizable playlist would also be neat.

Review

This game is a fun game that many would enjoy. It has easy controls that make it fun and let it run smoothly. It's an original idea but although original it should have more to it.

The basic features missing and that are needed is having a pause button, ipod music, and being able to save and write your name for top highscores.

Additionally, what this game could add to make it even more fun is add things to unlock, boards, hat, accessories, etc., just so the game could have more of a purpose than beating your own score.

I look foward to future updates with this game. And recommend it because it seems as if it has much more to come.

My favorite game

I have played a ton of ipod games and i think this is my favorite one so far. It is best on the ipad, but still fun on the ipod. Its random so every game is different. When you get a rhythm going it is a blast. My high score so far is 103 million, but havent gotten close to that since.

Great game but I ran into a freeze

I love the game but I ran into a freeze at the game summary screen. It seems intermittent and possibly by exiting at this screen. The only way I can continue gameplay is to delete and reinstall. Please fix. Also please increase the size of the gate warning graphic. My right hand tends to cover them while I'm playing. Thanks

Hoping for updates...and ill change rating

Pros- Great game for what it is. The play feels fluid and natural, a job well done. It is really fun as well as difficult. So I enjoy it for what it is. but...

Cons- it feels shallow and gimped. With such a great original idea there should definitely be more to it. Especially with this price tag.

There are some good ideas for growth posted in other reviews here, I truly hope you take them into consideration. Im still surprised that not a lot of developers keep up with customer feedback and updates. Doodle Jump and angry birds are perfect examples. They are constantly talked about because they continuously grow their games. I honestly dont even like doodle jump. But its still on my ipod because I like to see how its growing. I hope it turns into a deeper more customizable game someday. So many devs have exploded on the app store with new and original ideas, and then die off because they lose sight of US, the customers. If devs would just give us what we ask for (within reason) they would see that the end result is good feedback and good words about their game spreading like wildfire, which equals money.

This is a great beginning and I hope its going somewhere. If not...I will definitely be a hard sell on anything you do in the future. Joshua Fox

Extremely well done game

Very well made and original take on this genre. Don't pay attention to anybody saying the app crashes, etc., I have had no trouble at all since I bought it, and I'm sure a quick reinstall or reboot will fix any problems.

For anyone wondering, the music during the game is Speed Metal Messiah by Joe Stump, I believe. The music when you die is a Chopin prelude.

I've gotten a highscore of 72 million, this game is too addicting!! To gain speed quickly, hit all the green gates in the air. Either stop painting snow for a second or do a small jump, so it looks like: \____/ \______/ with the gates in between.

OMG NO WAI MAN SRSLY GUISE?

I hate this game so much, it's like a terrible addiction that rehab can't fix. Since I got this game, I haven't been able to get anything done. I sit at work all day playing this game instead of doing my job, and never get any housework done.

DEFINITELY don't tell your friend(s) about this game, because the resulting competition to beat their highscore will ruin any chance you might have otherwise had at being a responsible human being.

Also, I'm currently 29th place on the global high scores, with ~62 million pts. That's two minutes of awesome that I'll never get back.

Simply brilliant.

This is an incredibly well conceived game for the device. Even if you are not a big ski fan, you will be impressed nonetheless. The true genius of this game is that it incorporates so much freedom in control of the gameplay. It looks simple, yet the fun factor is tremendous!! Well worth the money.

RockBand on skis!

As an avid skier I've been waiting for a sweet iPad ski game to come out. And while this isn't quite what I had in mind, it rocks. It's way fun on my iPhone, but even better on the large screen of my iPad. Thanks for making this a universal app. I deffinately recommend this to skiers and non-skiers alike. Addictive.

Best Little Skiing Game EVER!!!!

i never do like skiing games much but i thought i would try it out since the reviews were so good and the images looked GREAT! so bought it and tried it out and it BLEW my mind how great and fun it was. You just make a path for the skier and get him going fast and he does super awesome tricks. heck! don't let me explain it to you! just buy it and you'll find out for yourself. FOR SURE WORTH BUYING!!!

Not as good as the flash version

I purchased this game after playing the flash version and I feel it doesn't translate to the iPhone due to the control method.

I found it difficult to see upcoming gates as they appear under my finger. This caused me to die a few times as I slid my finger too far to the right and off the screen, straining to see what was ahead and breaking the slope.

Besides the control issue the music is good, although it gets old fast and there is only one track. I have already substituted my own tracks.

The gameplay is very fun when the controls allow and the graphics are very clean and pleasant although a bit plain. I would love to see some new power ups prompting some psychedelic effects.

Finally, I feel the $2.99 price point is grossly over priced. Especially with games out there like angry birds which offers so much more for 1/3 the cost.

Uhh

I personally don't understand all the hype about this game , such as "omg this game is so fun and addicting I loved the flash version on PC it's soo good get it!!" I have to say it's an ok game but I think it's too original for it's price.. Draw and make slopes and cliffs and get faster and try to beat other high scores.. I personally think it's pricey for this type of game.. I'm not a cheap person but you know, $2.99 is alot for a game like this one.. I recommendation is $1.99 or $.99 or at least make it go on sale for a limited time or something or just change the price permanently. 4/5 stars overall, I wouldn't get it.. I would either buy iTunes music or save my money for other apps.. There are alot of really good addicting apps in the app store that are better than this one In my opinion.. Try angrybirds,doodlegod,doodlejump, or try some gameloft games because some are usually on sale for $1 instead of $5+. Thanks :)

Awesome, awesome, awesome!

This is an incredibly fun and re-playable game. Controls are perfect, music is SUPERB and game mechanics are wonderful. Playing this game really will make you more awesome. It's so much fun that after every time I die, I just start laughing. And then I play again.

Also, I really appreciate the fact that this one version covers iPhone, iPad and Retina displays. I own both an iPad and an iPhone4 and it's nice to have the best graphics in each device.

This game is easily worth more than $2.99 but because so many worse games cost this much or less, the developer can't charge more. That's a pity, because some people look at a game's price to judge how awesome it is. In terms of awesomeness, this is at least a $15 game.

A True-to-life Simulation

As a totally rocking daredevil skier (when I'm not doing my first job of performing CPR on bodacious babes) I'm happy to report that Solipskier completely and accurately captures the pure awesome sauce of daredevil finger skiing.

The moment I tapped my finger to the screen and heard those metal tunes blasting through my custom daredevil headphones I knew I was about to touch the face of awesome. No game comes close to replicating the feel of speeding down the curvy slopes performing sweet tricks hundreds of feet in the air.

So if you're a rad chili dog go buy this game right now. You'll be a more attractive, desirable person if you do.

Pros: Friggin' awesome, saves kittens, also really fun.

Cons: May not actually make you more beautiful.

Incredible game

I played the flash version (free and available on their site) and quickly became addicted. It may seem hard to rack up points at first, but I quickly got the hang of it. I recommend flipping through the tips at the end after you've died because they do include some pointers I wasn't aware of initially.

Also, this is very much a "replayable" game. In some ways it can be looked at as one big level, but the placement of objects is definitely randomized each time you start it. It was pretty hard to put down at times.

P.S. I played this on both the iPad and iPhone (since it's a universal app). The iPhone one looks gorgeous with the Retina display, but having the larger screen of the iPad almost makes it a completely different experience. I highly recommend playing it on the iPad if you have it available.
