Far less expensive and far less buggy than OmniGraffle. Plus, they don't charge you for updates and improvements.
Lots of support available, including on YouTube. But easy to just start using and learn as you go.
Perfect? Not yet...but I've no doubt they'll keep working towards that!

Broken Release! (Fixed)
After the latest update all my mind maps are gone and I can't even connect to Google Drive, it just shows a blank screen. I even restarted my phone and downloaded the app again but still the issue. Disappointed!!!

Needs iCloud integration
I use Apple's iCloud. This is otherwise a great application, but you really needs to find a way to support iCloud.
Also, can you use the Apple Pencil's pressure sensitivity to do multi-select? You can also distinguish between pencil and finger tap to do multi-select.

Functional App for the Mind-Mapper on the go

Essential for thought and learning
Love SimpleMind. I use it to organize and understand any new body of knowledge. I use it to quickly give an overview of any subject matter.
Note taking is great, but SimpleMind let's you see things and relationships more clearly.
SimpleMind is an app you will use and will have significant impact on your daily life.
SimpleMind is not sexy or a fast ride. But a smart brain is sexy and will help you get that fast ride :)

No Apple iCloud capability
Good for simple mind maps, but it lacks integration with Apple iCloud capability with its automatic sync capability. Sadly the application authors have not caught the vision yet.

Adequate but not robust
Simple mind is a good, inexpensive concept mapping program. I find it is mostly lacking in the inability to "drill down" into subtopics. This means that you can only expound on one main topic for a limited amount of subtopic detail before the mindmap gets too unwieldy to print.

Don't look down at your notes anymore
I love this app. It helps me to not look down at my notes like I used to.in a 30 minute talk I would look at my notes more than 100 times. Now I'm at about 30. I have more contact with my listeners. Thanks to the crew that made this App.

Initial Likes/Dislikes
I am a new user and, consequently, haven't had a chance to really put this app through its paces. However, here are some initial likes and dislikes:
Likes --
1) Available and interoperable on multiple platforms. I can move between my Windows desktop version and my iPhone and iPad apps.
2) Basic mind maps appear to be pretty simple to set up and to export.
Dislikes --
1) Not all cloud storage options are available on all platforms. For example, my Microsoft OneDrive is available on the Windows desktop version, but not on my iOS apps. As a result, I have had to keep SimpleMind files on DropBox, away from the rest of my workflows.
2) The app doesn't seem to like to just open, without opening one of the existing mind map files. I wish there was a landing or home screen that would open to allow me to select which file to work on.
I'll amend this review as I gain more experience with the application.

Easy App / Good tool
Very easy to use. Lots of ability to customize output. Great output formats. The outline feature makes this tool a great tool to start writing instructions and procedures while the map feature makes developing it easy and fun.

First time using mind maps.
I recently discovered this theory of mind maps and I thought it would be a great idea to improve my memory of certain topics. This theory really is proving to be helpful for me and I searched around for a good app and tried a few of the most popular and best rated. This is by far the best. One was too complicated and ugly and another didn't have search and others fell way short.
The search feature is great for referencing a word or a person. I use this to improve my memory so a search function is critical to recalling informative and relationships to a word or name.

totally screwed me with sync
i had a lot of hope for this app, but it totally screwed me syncing between desktop and phone. after taking an hours worth of notes and adjustments duringa client meeting, it completely overwrote them, apparently during a sync error. absolutely unacceptable. avoid depending on this to sync accurately with dropbox accross platforms.

Very Short Learning Curve, Easy Manipulation
I spent about $60 in a few days trying out mind mapping/ project layout iPhone/ iPad/ Mac software, and SimpleMind quickly rose to the top of the heap. I like it so much that I've purchased the desktop version so I can spread out the maps and print them more easily for projects. I've done 5 project maps without really looking at the instructions, so I know I can use it without being frustrated. (I can do what I need, without being blocked by an arcane interface). As I use it, I've incorporated more of the features, which are designed to be both productive and "pretty" (nice graphics design). This is a really successful design. Very Good Job!

Needs split view, and iPad Pro support
I have slowly stopped using this app as the keyboard is still not updated with support for the iPad pro. I also can't use split screen which slows down my productivity. This is still one of the best apps in its category, but it's not fully keeping up with the demand.

Amazing update: love new options for images!
**Thank you for this update! I've never really used images in my maps before because the options were limited. But embedded images and the ability to use an image as a topic are PERFECT!! Exactly what was needed. Brilliant!**
I've used this mind mapping tool now for 3 years, and sincerely it has only gotten better. The most recent update has my maps looking better than I could have made them on my own.
I love that I can make my own color scheme, fill in notes, export as PDF, these great looking maps. I'm currently using the iPad pro, and it looks amazing.
The one and only drawback: syncing between my devices through Dropbox. This is disappointing when there are so many options available for syncing now

Great mind mapping tool
I've used several mind-mapping apps, and they all have their strong points, but I find myself using SimpleMind more. It's easy to use but also more sophisticated, and it gives me great control over the design.

Outstanding Functionality!
Honestly, I wonder about people at times (referring to the negative reviews here). I don't think people read before they get all emotional. I'm using the Simplemind Pro version on iPad and iPhone, and synchronization via Dropbox is completely seamless and rock solid. I don't use the desktop version yet but I will likely acquire it.
That said, I've been using mind maps since the mid 2000's. I have found Simplemind Pro for IOS to be totally intuitive, simple to use (I didn't even read the instructions and it still makes sense), and extremely feature rich. Each incremental upgrade just gets better and better! I created my first Mindmap in about ten minutes and had a completed org chart with six branches on it and about 40 names. This is a seriously impressive app! Thanks to the developers for creating such a useful business tool!

It was a very useful app to me
If you were the type of person that has difficult getting them ideas together, this is a wonderful tool. The pro version which I purchased gives you the options to input webpages and snapshots so you can gather ideas quickly about subjects/topics and plot them. The branches help you see clearly where your idea came from and a topic it should stick to.

Quick and easy to use!!
SimpleMind has a nice and intuitive UI. I have a few mind mapping apps and this one is the fastest and most intuitive to use. I'm hoping that in the future we'll be able to import documents to add to mind maps.
My other apps are more feature rich with bells and whistles but, they're also more complicated and slower to use. When I mind map I like to get my thoughts down fast so that I don't forget anything. SimpleMind is well worth the investment!

Awesome application
This is one of my favorite application. I bought and installed one on my phone, one on ipad, one on my desktop. With dropbox all my files are in sync across the platform. Love it love it love it! A very user friendly, simple and intuitive mind-mapping software. It is much more versatile than some of much more expensive mind-mapping software I bought before!

Simple mind
This is my FAVORITE app! I love being able to take notes that I can sort and separate by color or in boxes. It helps me relay info and use info I have gathered quickly in a conference or teaching environment. I can then print individual sections of my notes, or share with others as a PDF. This is the ONLY way to take great notes and to organize creative writing concepts for me!

Great app - needs update
In terms of mind mapping apps, this is about the best you can find. It's really easy to use with a number of high-quality features and few bugs.
There are a few ways in which functionality is somewhat limited, however. The last update was almost a year ago, so there is no support for iCloud Drive syncing. Moreover, there really should be an option to include higher quality pictures in the maps. I use this a lot for helping with structuring the essays I write, and when I need to reference examples, I likes to include them. As of yet, they are unrecognizable because they are so low quality.

I haven't been this excited about an app before!
This app is very intuitive, sleek and beautiful. I've used FreeMind on the PC but SimpleMind bridges the gap between all the OS's. The app does not get I'm the way of you laying out your thoughts in a map. It's easy to modify what you've already put down. Brilliant! Thank you!

Great Application
I've used mind mapping programs for years, mostly on the PC. This is one of the first ones used on my IPad. Works extremely well, so well that my fiancé and I are using it to plan our wedding, sell her house and generally get organized. Works well with Dropbox and Google Drive so we both can work on our Maps when thoughts and ideals come to us. So far I have absolutely no issues or complaints. Well thought out and coded. Highly recommended!!!!

Multiple Uses
I'm in sales and I cant say enough about this app. I use it for keeping track of my customers family members, brainstorming sales ideas, breaking down products and their benefits to better understand them, ect., ect. I love this app. And it has a ton of awesome features. You can really differentiate within the map itself to set apart ideas or make some stand out above others. This is the best app iv purchased hands down. I have the paid for version and would pay much more. ONE THING tho, and I'm still learning this app so maybe its already possible. I wish there a way so that both when my Ipad(where I typically use this app) and Iphone were connected to WiFi the latest files on my Ipad would automatically download to my Iphone instead of manually having to do it thru dropbox.

Perfect app for the scatterbrained!
Wonderful app for the scatterbrain such as myself. I love the simplicity of this app. It's also good for my language students, as I can just pull it out for some quick mind mapping before they embark on a written response. It has also helped me calm my brain down when I have a million ideas in there at once, threatening to engulf me. One thing I would change is it would be great if we could resize pictures and move them around. Also to be able to draw images right in the map, as drawing is part of mind mapping as well.

Better than the image they show
Based on the image I thought this was another 'simple' mind map program but the description made me try it. They reality need to spice up that image to show what it can do. You can easily add images and multiple connections are easy. I have not tried all the mind map programs for iPhone but I have tried a few and this is the best by a mile.

Perfect, but not necessarily simple
This is the perfect app for pulling ideas together and for brain storming. Simple Mind can provide complex info. I was able to provide our architects with what the committee and staff wanted in the library renovation using different colored levels as the diagram flowed around a single 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.

Good iPad option if you like freemind
I have been an avid user of freemind for a long time & wanted something similar I could use on my iPad. I use mind maps a lot for brainstorming, organizing lectures, planning projects, etc. Lots of nodes, but nothing fancy. SimpleMind has served this purpose very well for me.
File import export & freemind compatibility have worked well for me, but I I would like having the option of displaying the map in a format closer to the way freemind presents it. For professional purposes, the freemind format is sometimes more appropriate.

Brilliant! Best Mindmap for iPad I've Tried
I do extensive business and life planning via mind maps. I have used the "industrial strength" high-end "Thebrain." As well, in the IOS realm, I've purchased Mindo, Dropmind, Inspiration, and MindMaple, and Headspace. All of these had the features I wanted but ran into issues with larger mind maps. Problems I've encountered 1) Sluggishness 2) Topics and subtopics become a huge disordered mess (this is one of the worst aspects if Inspiration) 3) Lower hierarchy subtopics become hard to read and discern (Dropmind, for some reason makes them nearly invisible.
Simplemind does a fantastic job of addressing all these issues and more. When I conducted my initial search for the "perfect iPad mindmap," it was last on my list because their description in the App Store really makes it look like a very rudimentary mind map.
I don't think their description and sample images in the App Store does it justice. It is far better and intelligently designed than it appears to be based on the description. I've got a lot of playing around to do with this, but there's a good chance this will become my main mind map app going forward. I just ordered their desktop version btw.

Great educational app
A friend of mine introduced me to mind mapping tools. I really love this one! It is very user friendly, plus it is visually appealing. I love using this app for story boarding, and to outline my thoughts process for essays. It is even a great tool to plan projects at work.

Best app of this type
I have tried a lot of these kinds of apps, and this one has the best interface I've seen. It takes advantage of the iPads touch interface in a very intuitive way. It does a great job of keeping things simple while having a lot of options and capabilities. It syncs automatically via Dropbox so my iPhone and iPad always have the same version of my maps. It also has a very attractive and polished appearance, which makes it a lot more enjoyable to use.

Great app with even greater Customer support
I purchased this app and tested it, it is a great working app. very easy to use, not a lot of extras like some of its competitors have, but very simple to use.
Their customer service is what impressed me, I wrote them an email with some questions and concerns, they replied instantly and very courteously.
I have since worked out with them some volume license agreements and they have been great to work with.

I have done mindmapping for many years and have tried several different programs to help me. This application is the most user friendly that I have ever used. For my needs it is perfect and it is easy to change a print out. I recommend it to anyone who either uses mindmapping or would like to start.

Great Mind-mapping App! From a nursing student.
This app is soooo convenient! I have the desk top version and the app. They work great for when I am making a map for a nursing care plan. I can work on it at my desktop or at the patients bedside. The maps easily save to a PDF for easy printing at staples or kinkos or Office Depot. I love how easy this program is to use. Excellent tool to develop ideas
If you are working out an idea or starting a project, this tool is very simple and easy to use on the iPad. I've tried other similar products that, when used on the iPad, become a project themselves. This tool is the right balance of usability and functionality.

Excellent Tool for Novel Writing
Simplemind does everything I need it to do. It's anything but simple, but it is very easy to use.
As I begin developing a story it gives me the links and cross-links to show the numerous associations. It's easy to show all the characters, then show how they link back to plot-lines, other characters, or specific chapters. The ability to create a separate map for each chapter and then link a chapter's map back into the main map helps keep the visuals simple, organized, and easily assessable.
As updates are offered I'm sure that I'll appreciate them, but I feel that Simplemind (iOS and desktop) is currently well worth my money.

The easiest to use mind map
Simplemind is the mind map app I use all the time. The ability to sync between iPad, iPhone, and desktop is great.
The tool is simple and easy to use (much easier than freemind or Visio). You can generate a mind map with the least number of keystrokes without memorizing accelerators. You can focus on your mind map instead of futzing with the app.
Simplicity comes at a cost of missing features. Layout is basic. The only feature I really miss is the ability to tag and filter on tags. I hope tags and filters are on the backlog.

Good and bad
This application has great content. My issue stems from the lack of retina display support. I'm not saying this to be a pill; I know it sounds like that. In reality, the pixilated picture hurts my eyes after a while. I really hope this company has plans to update to retina graphics. I mean, the app is $7, I think it should reflect that in the quality of the app. I'll update my rating when retina graphics is added.

Good and can be better
This app is easy to use and generally intuitive.
Improvements would include:
A manual or some basic instructions
Ability to resize topic, re-name a mind map to something other than the first topic (so you can have 2 versions of a map saved with different names)
Ability to manually manage color including background, topic and topic border, and manual connector line color instead of color schemes
Ability to organize mind maps. Folders would be great, but even being able to reorder would be an improvement

Fantastic Update and Support
I love the features added to this already easy-to-use product. The developer answered my query about problems I was having almost immediately, and in fact wrote to me three times to make sure everything was working. The update also fixed the problems I was having. The is the first mind-mapper I've really enjoyed using and have made it part of my daily work life. Also, a single user license for the desktop version is less than 40 Euros, not 400 as another reviewer mistakenly commented. Highly recommended if you are a visual-thinker who likes the idea of mind-mapping.
