Not good for a first time visitor
If you are looking for guidance and help for a first time visitor, then this app isn't for you. Tried searching for "water park" and it gave me a bunch of irrelevant results. Took me a while to figure out that the "Boardwalk" is the name of the water park.
I asked someone for help to find a place to get a refill without having to wait in long food lines since the app doesn't indicate where the refills can be found and relative wait for the lines. The place the person directed me to wasn't searchable on the app, so I wasted time going in circles.
I think the main problem is that the park layout is very haphazard, there are numerous small shops, stalls, kiosks everywhere making for extra congestion, and the app has information overload as a result. I wish I could rate the app higher but it really detracted from my experience. A paper map of the park would have been more useful.
A suggestion to the app developers: create a focus group and get people who never visited your park or used your app and see what problems they have and solve them. Then, I think this app will be more useful.

I like how it shows you all you need to know. If the rides are closed and the wait times. So you can do something and know what time the wait is for a ride you may want to ride. Awesome!!! I used it this past weekend. Very informative. Love you Hershey park!

Glitchy
This app is an awesome app but lately it's been glitching really bad. I use this app religiously I have season passes but these past couple weeks the app either won't load or it says that rides are closed when there not or the wait times are wrong along with some other glitches. Please fix this and give this app a much needed update. Thank you

Helps A lot!
This helps a lot to see what rides are closed and the wait times. it's also nice because it takes you to the ride or restaurant you want without having troubles with a map. It's great they take videos on some rides so you can see if it looks fun while your waiting in line. It also tells you how far away you are from the ride. Lastly it gives you a brief summary of the ride to tell you if it has sharp turns or sudden drops. This app will definitely help you if you need help finding your way around the park, or times for the ride. Definitely download this app. 5 stars ⭐️

Really Efficient
As a long term visitor of the park, I still found it incredibly helpful in many ways. The little facts and tidbits about each ride just made me appreciate them more, and the ride wait time notifications are literal perfection. (PS if the Hershey Resort Compant is reading this, add another Intamin)

Hershey workers are salty
This four star review is just for Robert. The only good worker at Hershey is named Robert. He should get a raise. He gives hugs and "Hoyas" and he's lit. He let me ride stormrunner twice in a row and he does sweet dances. But all of the other workers are made of salt. I was on the Hershey Drop Tower and it broke down. I asked to go to the front of the line for the Recces Tower and they say no. Also, the security guard at great bear doesn't know how to set up a line. He made my fake mother very mad. He also pooped his pants. I have even more things to complain about. We were lied to by the Hershey lodge and website. I was falsely informed that I would have early access to the park and that the park would close at 10pm. However, this was not accurate information and I am not happy. The only happy thing in this trip was Robert. #loverobert
Ps Hershey ran out of water. How is that possible. People could die of dehydration because of their stupidity and lack of o planning skills. Thanks for reading my review

Good for wait times and directions!
It was great! Wait times were accurate, and the "take me there" directions to whichever ride you picked was a great idea, although it's "GPS" was a little off. It helped to find bathrooms, smoke shacks, food, etc. You can filter out rides to include/exclude family rides, kids rides, rides by "candy bar," etc.. Very helpful app!!

I can't do Hershey without this app! The only thing I use it for is the ride wait times, and most of the time it is very accurate for that purpose, though I have been burned a few times. Overall I highly recommend it.

Horrible response times. Tried to pull up my recently purchased tickets instead of printing. No further option to link with email confirmation. App must have been created by chocolate eating pimply faced morons that are barely old enough to drive on the Hershey Turnpike. So much more could have been created. Back to the paper trail I go!

Good idea, needs improvement
I love the idea of listing wait times for rides but we found it wildly inaccurate. It listed the wait time for one ride as 20 minutes and it actually took close to an hour to wait for that ride. If this was updated frequently enough it would be a great feature. I like that you can filter the list of rides in a few ways (height restrictions, distance from you, wait time, etc.). The map of the park would be more helpful if you could zoom all the way out to see the whole park at once, find the general area you want, then zoom back in for detail. Somehow I couldn't get it to operate that way. Generally, the app itself is fairly easy to navigate and figure out. I hope they make some improvements to the app before next season when we hope to visit the park again.

Nearly Perfect but Needs Minor Improvements
I am a season pass holder and I use this app at least once a month. The interactive maps are great for new guests, and the alerts are very informative. However, the best feature of the app by far is the ride wait times! Usually they are spot-on, But they are not always accurate. In my opinion, that should be improved. I have seen the app state a 10 minute wait, to get to a coaster and see that the wait is 45+. There also should be a 0 minute wait option for when you can walk right on a coaster (lightning racer on slow days). This app has really helped my park experience and a few little adjustments would make it one of the best park apps ever!

Cumbersome- and most of the screens showed no information. The park in general is very very expensive and is more about waiting in lines than going on anything. Costs more to get the express pass than the ticket does.

This app helped so much throughout our 2 days in Hershey Park. Love how you can see ride times and set alerts for a certain amount of time you want to wait for particular rides. Would definitely recommend this for anyone that plans on visiting the park!!!

Great app
Love many of the features of this app from "find my car" to "take me there" "wait times" and show times. One improvement that would make this better is if we could pick the things we want to do and then order them or move them around in the to do list. Also, once you pick items for the to do list, the rides list no longer shows all the rides at the park so it makes it harder to navigate. It would be great if you could pick all the things you want to do and have them appear on the map, and plan out the day according to location on the map. Also being able to rearrange the items in your to do list and have them appear on your map according to the to do list would be awesome!! All in all, it's a great app that made the park easier to navigate and other people in our party we separated from easier to relocate. I didn't have to worry about remembering where my car was or how to find things according to the paper map. Great app, thanks.

This app was awesome!! It kept us informed all day of where the rides were that we wanted to ride, how long we would have to wait in line & how tall the kids had to be to ride! It also shows you a video of most rides and gives a through description of each ride so you know if you would like it or if it would be too much for you/the kids! Awesome awesome app! Great app to have for finding your next ride in the park , just make sure you have good battery power for your phone , because using it for a lot of rides drains your battery quickly
Overall the app is great for wait times, sorting rides (water vs coasters) finding food, restrooms etc.
Really was a game changer for me, because I hate trying to read a paper map, instead of using GPS!!! GPS, the WAY TO GO !!!

Wait times and maps that route with app!
We go to a ton of theme parks and always use a combo of park apps or third party apps because both are lacking. Not this app, it does everything we need well. Find rides and now how far a walk and wait times. Find food. Find restrooms etc. wish all parks met this app's standard.

Best app for a park that I have ever seen. Gives wait times and shows you how to get from where you are to anywhere you want to go. I especially love that you can look up ingredients to almost any food in the park for allergen info. That is HUGE for parents with kids with food allergies. Very well done.

Not ready for prime time
This is a well-run park in real life, but its app has major issues. Almost useless for finding rides near you - displays the exact same icon for every ride, and map in app is different than paper map, with no labels for areas, few major attraction/landmark names, landmarks not drawn the same way, and most importantly, rides listed without their numbers. Maybe they couldn't re-license the graphics from the (perfectly good) paper map? Why can't you zoom out further? Why no numbers for rides like on the paper map (meaning you can't communicate with your friends who are using paper maps)?

Doesn't Work
I downloaded this app to buy mobile tickets on my iPhone 5, but the payment part doesn't work. I can select the tickets, but can't enter billing information on the next page. There are no workable fields and they won't even bring up the keyboard. Useless. Very disappointing. *UPDATE: I kept trying...went away, came back, carefully tapped all over, and finally got it to work, so I've upgraded this to a 4-star review.

Don't waste your time downloading the app
I got this app to check out roller coaster wait times and to have a map handy on my phone. This app is a joke. 10 minute wait for sky rush? Pssssh. More like 1 hour & 45 minute wait!!! It was like they rolled a dice to decide how long the wait times were. They weren't even remotely close to the actual wait times. This app just needs a lot of improving. Turn by turn directions? How? No one could figure how to do that. The map took too long to navigate. It might be easier to just use a paper map or ask someone.

Horrible app
DO NOT GET THIS APP!
When I tried to purchase tickets to Hershey w this app it kept on saying my credit card was denied 3 times. When I went to my credit card app those 3 charges WERE pending! And it seemed like I purchase $480 worth of tickets when I just wanted $162! I called my credit card company n they said my card was working n fine. When I called Hershey they told me there were no records of my purchase s n that no credit card charges were made to my card. More or less saying this was MY problem n not their app, even though I told them I and my credit card company can clearly see the purchases. DO NOT GET THIS APP. THEY WILL JUST STEAL FROM YOU! And Hershey will not help you so u will need to go thru ur card company to dispute those charges. WORST APP EVER!

Lacking
With all the advertising pushing the app, I thought it would be helpful. The wait times feature doesn't remember your filter. Specifically it should remember that I want to view the list in name order and only show the rides for Hershey Bar and below.
The map zoom doesn't go far enough in. Also, names of rides aren't on the map. As you zoom in more names should appear. Wait times should appear as a number next to the names that appear on the map as well.
Overall the interface was difficult to manage. The physical maps in the parks have problems as well. They need to invest in a new company to produce a map that is more like other regional parks. The new layout would help some of the app map issues.
Overall, some thought has been put into features for this app. It just comes up lacking in execution.

Loved this app at the park!!! Loved being able to see ride wait times, if the rides were closed or not, and LOVED how you could get directions to a ride from where you were standing!!! I wish all amusement parks would get apps like this!!!!

Had high hopes for this but it wasn't very helpful. The names of the rides, etc aren't on the map, you have to click each icon to see so it is difficult to get your bearings and plan your route. The map/directions don't appear in the direction you are holding your phone, so it isn't user friendly. And there are wait times listed for just a handful of rides so that feature has only limited use. Great concept but needs better execution.

Must have app with small children!
This app made this visit to Hershey Park by far the smoothest of all of our family's amusement park adventures. With a little "miniature" under 3ft, I didn't have to spend time hunting for what to do to keep my son occupied. I was able to find rides just for his height nearby and even rides with short waits just in time to catch a show! When I needed to find my husband and our older kids, I just used the "take me there" feature to the ride they were on Much better than walking around with a paper map.

This is a good and helpful app. The only thing that would make it better would be if it had a "plan my day" section. So that you could go on the app and pick which order of rides you want to go on for the day without having to spend time figuring out what to do.

Please fix!
I look forward to having the wait times at my fingertips, but please fix the map! The old one was fine- colorful, easy to navigate, etc. The new one looks outdated- why the developers regressed I don't know.. I could look at the old map and tell where the rides were, as it looked almost like the same map they provide online and in the park. The new one is ugly, and you can barely differentiate ride locations, without the icons. Please fix ASAP!!

Has promise
We will be using it tomorrow. Seems pretty good at first glance. Two suggestions:
1) The orientation of the in-app park map should match the paper map so it is easier to reference each on back and forth. It is currently upside down compared to paper map.
2) The filter should allow you to filter rides based on attraction intensity. My 7 year old loves thrill rides is bored by little kid rides. It would be great to filter them out and doing it by height doesn't seem to hit the mark.

Great while at the park
It works well while at the park. Wait times for rides are updated often and the map and ride alerts are very helpful. What it does not help with is future planning. It does not have a calendar for future dates. It does not tell you even the next days hours.

Move over disney! I love Hershey park and the story behind it. Milton Hershey was a great man and still continues to inspire me to this day. Map is largely useless but has rides and wait times
Overall disappointed with this app. As you can buy tickets online, you would think this app would enable purchase. Nope. You would think this app would enable paperless tickets. Nope.
Has a ride list. Has a "by name" list. You would think you could search it. Nope.
App has a map of the park. Items can be tapped for more info. There is a "you are here" function. You would think you could tap on a ride in the ride list and be transferred to the map. Nope. You would think you could have the map show you how to get from your current position to the ride. Nope. You would think the "current position" could at least show you which way you were pointed. Nope. You would think you could zoom into the map to see what is around you by name without tapping some goofy symbol to being up an info page for each landmark. Nope.
Overall, largely a poorly designed app. Only useful things are the list of rides and the wait times on the rides. Both could be better and more usefully implemented.

Waste of precious time.
I know this is useful but it is not really. I love the Hershey company but this app is not so good. I worry about dropping my iPad all the time. It gets heavy a lot. If you have a backpack it is really heavy. Also you have to keep puting it in and out. Plus you could forget and leave your iPad or iPod touch there.
Don't waste any precious time on bringing yours. Just get a map. It doesn't hurt.

Almost useless 👎
This app is well intentioned and could've been great, but it simply falls flat.
I downloaded this before my first visit to the park and it was nice to check out the park beforehand, but that's about the full use of it.
The map is the main purpose for the app and in the park it never showed my location properly. The app promises a bevy of information, which many times is never given. Navigating the map is just awkward, too, so that doesn't help.
A paper map will prove far more useful and helpful. Also, you don't have to worry about your paper map getting wet at the water park.
If you've never visited the park, download then delete this app. If you have visited before, don't waste you're time.
Hershey, do yourself a favor and stop advertising this app in the park or improve it!

Very basic
I've used the same type of app for Busch Gardens in Virginia. I was surprised to be missing key functionality in the HP app. I expected GPS to be able to take me there (BG does), sort and filter rides (roller coasters near me), and have accurate wait times. Finding the nearest bathroom rather than show me all in the park should be required. Both apps are new in 2012, but the HP app really seems hastily thrown up. I ended up using my paper map, as the HP app just didn't improve my experience. (oh the characters to show my location blend in with the map)

Helpful, but not reliable.
This app is very detailed and can help easily locate rides and diners. It is much easier than looking at the tiny map when you can see a full map and the intensity of a ride right in your pocket whenever you need to. It is not very good with wait times for rides though. The park was closed yesterday and when I logged on the app, there were still wait times listed for rides. Overall a helpful app that can help you locate anything in the park anytime and I would recommend it.

Location services always active
The location services is always on (purple location services icon) if this service is toggled on. With concerns about battery drain, this app should only use your location when it is active - they need to fix this. Otherwise, pretty good

So Sweet!
I love Hershey Park and have been going there since I was 1! This app is great! Especially for first timers, gives you a map, show times, places to eat, closed rides and very easy to use! If you have never been to the park, download this app on your phone, much easier then taking out a map each time you get lost! This app was crashing on me for a little while, but I'm pretty sure its good now. For a free app its so SWEET! Haha get it? Lol I crack myself up (:

Location Services kills battery
The app it self is great. Good functionality and features. The only complaint I have is when the app is suspended, ( pushing the home button on my iphone) the gps continues to operate and will kill the battery fairly quickly. I must completely close the app to prevent this from happening. Other than that it works great. I do realize I can turn off location services, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the app. Is there a fix for this in the works so I can give it 5 stars instead?

Luv!! MUST HAVE!!!
I Love this app!!! I love how there is a checklist and a map! I especially love the show and park times!!! My favorite part is that it shows you daily alerts!!! It is very useful!! I can't wait to use it next month when i go to Hershey!! Get this app!!! Your kids will love look at the different rides on the map!!! The map was very helpful and is a beautiful drawing!!!! YOU MUST HAVE IT IF U ARE GOING TO HERSHEY!!!!!!

Crashes at home, works fine at park
When I first downloaded it I was concerned because it kept crashing and all the other poor reviews told of the same problem. As soon as I got into Hersheypark, however, I tried opening the app and it worked perfectly. So I just wanted to let everyone know they should still try it in the park to be certain.

Will be great once fixed!
Sadly the bugs plague this otherwise great app. The interface is great and offers loads more content than the mobile HersheyPark website. However it frequently crashes and even caused my iDevice to freeze up until it finally rebooted itself.
It would be great for Hershey to implement wifi in the parks for those without iPhones. You have already done a great job adding wifi connectivity to the Hotel and Lodge. Even if it was just in the form of specific WiFi Hotspots in the park, I know it would be greatly appreciated!

Was great but after last update....
This app was great. Nice map of the park and great information. However, since the last update it keeps crashing. Opens up and then closes as soon as you try to move around in the app.
As soon as they fix that, I'll gladly upgrade my rating to a 5 star because it's worth it. Well thought out and easy to use.

Very nice
Overall this app is very nice, with a lot of detailed information. The only thing that would make it better at this point is an improved organization of the list of attractions, preferably by section of the park or in alphabetical order. Otherwise, this app is pretty nice!

This update did a nice job updating rides and pictures, and I finally found how you can change the list to alphabetical order or to sections of the park. My only suggestion now would be to make sub-menus for each section of the park. If this could happen, Great!
